Spacedock how much does it cost? Just curious
Dangit, Spiff's influence gets everywhere...
I must say, I loved listening to the sales pitch more than the video itself! 😜... I still enjoyed the ship breakdown though.
I would give a great many things to hear that voice again
@@owenpeters1823 Incidental character in the Sojourn, perhaps?
*falls out of chair laughing* Good lord... that intro!
Tea receptable!!? Lol!
Thank the maker its Variable geometry, and Inverse tachyon. Hard to find any multi-spectral ceramic Tea re-sceptical that aren't the cheap linear geometry tachyon models these days
I thought i click on the wrong video
The outro is just as great. *adjusts monocle*
It just gets better with the Rank being called "Jägermeister", as space fighter in german are "Raumjäger", giving the rank a double meaning beyond its name for an alcoholic drink known even in english speaking nations XD
To quote Wedge Antilles "a near perfect combination of speed, durability and firepower"
To Quote Carlist Riekaan: "An almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive shielding make it the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron.""
That being said, the E wing will always be my favorite star wars fighter (atleast on the side of the the good guys)
Just for using the theme of Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike, this is automatically the best video in the entire channel. Of all time
Agreed!!!
I was wondering why the background music sounded so familiar, thanks.
I wish all three games would be remastered and rereleased for the current gen systems.
I've never played rogue squadron :(
god what would i give for Rogue Squadron trilogy on the switch
The X-Wings may get the glory, but the Y-Wings will always be the workhorse of the Rebel fleet.
Absolutely. It's not quick or flashy, but it gets the job done.
Pretty much spitfire vs hurricanes
Damn I loved that game
@@px1_ Spitfire VS Thunderbolt. The Jug carried firepower by the barrel, and was tough, and could fight at low levels without worry about a vulnerable radiator getting hit and being put out of business. Besides, who would argue with EIGHT .50 cal machine guns?
@@Nighthawke70 the P-47 was great, but it’s worth noting that it was introduced in 1942, the spitfire did serve through the whole war in numerous fronts, proving itself over south England and in North Africa. Furthermore I’d argue 2x 20mils with ammo to spare could rival 8 .50s in the early war considering not many aircraft matched that amount of armament . Anyway the jug and spitfire are both iconic and great aircraft for their roles
My nostalgia exploded from the Rogue Squadron 3 music
Same man
Too bad we'll never get a decent Rogue Squadron 4.
“Ceramic tea receptacle...” Yeah, that’s rich! 🤣
Lock S foils in attack position!
If we go in than we going in at full throttle. That should keep the Tie off are backs.
@Michaelle Green it'll just be like beggars canyon back home!
Stay on target.... *Stay on Target...*
@HELLO THERE "You worry about those fighters! I'll worry about the tower!"
Stay on target!
Ejector Seat? Not much use in space when X-Wing pilots do not wear pressurized space suits.
The only reason they didn’t wear spacesuits is simply because the rebellion couldn’t afford them
They’re pressurised they just lack the enclosed helmet, everything else they wear is EVA capable
The helmet has a Retractable face plate.
In one of the comics (and books?), part of the ejection system puts a MagCon field around them.
Rebel flight suits carried an emergency air supply and protection for eyes and other sensitive body parts but they weren't completely sealed. If a pilot had to eject, they had about 10-15 minutes to get picked up and be ready to fly again after a few days' rest, or 20-40 minutes and require a long bacta bath before they were even able to walk again. Either way, they had significantly worse odds of survival than imperial TIE pilots, who wore fully sealed, pressurized suits and could await pickup for several hours. Of course, since TIEs were also far easier to shoot down in the first place than X-Wings, it kind of evened out in terms of pilot survival rates.
The T-65B is my favorite space superiority fighter if Fiction. Hands down.
And the T-70 a true successor the the already amazing starship line (despite the movies).
@@westforlols1425 While the T-70 is a fantastic ship, I prefer the Legends counterpart, the XJ-series X-Wing.
I got a build your own X wing add and now I'm scared of how smart UA-cam is getting
I am about halfway through Alphabet Squadron right now, and its interesting seeing how ex-Imperial pilots who defect to the Republic almost find the X-Wing's shields, hyperdrive, droid, and wide view canopy strange after flying in the technically weaker but much more nimble TIE Fighter. An X-Wing in a great pilot's hands is a deadly weapon, but the TIE Fighter's deficiencies force the pilots to become great if they want to survive.
I feel so special, thank you Spacedock!
Thank YOU for your service! /Salute
You might have beaten my predecessors but now, the playing field is more even. The old star destroyers had either weak firepower or little point defence. I have both! I have over 700 turbolasers and 700 ion cannons. I also have 100 point defence lasers and most importantly I have missile launchers, 30 of them. I even have 140 shielded Tie fighters. Do you really think that you can beat me? *Frantically smashes keys to remove plot armor from gameplay*
"Never doing that voice again. You can't make me."
Aw. Shame. I really liked that voice.
~Inb4 spacedock does an entire episode in that voice~
Oh, that use of the Rogue Squadron 2 theme and reference to the fighter’s description! You totally made my day with that!
@sean khan
It's from both, technically. Rogue Squadron 3's was a retake of the Rogue Squadron 2 theme. Don't think there's any particular point in insisting it's one or the other.
@@rookcapcoldblood2618 It's also from Rogue Squadron 1.
@@VegetaLF7
Huh. Alright. Let's just say it's from the whole series then.
@@VegetaLF7 RS1 had a different theme.
@@darwinxavier3516 Nope, same theme, just a slightly different version of it. ua-cam.com/video/9kTNbfHMlv4/v-deo.html
Had a ejection seat you think the rebels would have utilized it by having pilots equiped with pressurized suits
the ejection seat is supposed to be the entire nose of the spacecraft- the entire cockpit portion would jettison, leaving the pilot in what would effectively be a lightly armored escape pod with limited life support functions
The fact that you used the rogue squadron game music in the background made me so happy. Great video as always
I'm huge fan of fighter crafts from real world P-51's and F-14's to fictional ones like X-wing. Luke Skywalker and his X-wing was what the New Republic and New Jedi Order were meant to be.
Still need the Buck Rodgers Thunderfighter and Draconian Hatchet Fighter. Sadly, I don't think there is a lot of solid information on those fighters.
If we're honest, the main thing we all remember from that series was Erin Grey in a series in increasingly tight fitting jumpsuits
@@weldonwin
To be honest I liked her when she was strictly Col. Dearing (sp?) and a soldier. She looked best in the white military outfit.
@@DocWolph Which was also really really tight and for a no nonsense military officer, she obviously spent a lot of time on her makeup
I want to see an armada of them from a surviving Republic fleet in Episode 9.
Nah they would probably have t-85 fighters
@@deadshot5007 Sadly not :(
Both of you are wrong. Jar jar abrams has other wishes.
So happy you used the original Rogue Squadron theme! I shed a tear of nostalgia.
"An X-Wing is an elegant ship for a more... Civilized age." 😉
That may well have been the greatest self promotion I've ever heard in my entire life.
I say, spiffing, old chap! The fighter isn't too bad, either.
Wow. Just wow.your narrations are beyond reproach. I saw Star Wars when I was 8 and as I was scrolling for your videos I kept saying “he MUST have an Xwing, he must!”
I was not disappointed
Nice choice of music used in this video as it was the music score heard in the Star Wars:Rogue Squadron game of the Nintendo GameCube.
Rogue Squadron sparked my interest in Star Wars. I feel like turning on my gamecube again and seeing the original trilogy's cast dancing under a disco ball and walk around the hangar for a couple of hours.

Andy B, This isn’t even funny.
I would love to see a Incomm *update of the ARC-170* using the lessons and technology of the X-Wing design.
Basically a heavy X-Wing, losing the third crewman/copilot, instead having a astromech.
Streamline the design, add front laser cannons so it's better against fighters and give the rear gunner more firepower and a better firing arc.
Make it a Y-Wing replacement that's a strike fighter/bomber with a lot more carried ordinance that isn't fighter bait.
The turbolasers can either be kept with two laser cannons added (or a split firing mode so the turbolasers can fire rapid weaker shots for fast fighters). Or they can be removed for even more payload and a stack of forward facing laser cannons with a couple of ions - six wing mounted laser cannons, one on each S-Foil, and two nose mounted ion cannons would take down any fighter or small ship and weaken shields for the torpedoes.
Whilst still being able to dogfight.
*_ARC-180B fan art time._*
The ARC-170 had an astromech droid already.
I was thinking Hex-Wing with 6 wings and 6 lasers (4 for anti star fighters, 2 heavy ion cannons for anti ship combats)
Wedge Antilles directly referred to the X-Wing as the perfect balance of sturdiness, firepower and maneuvrability.
It's basically the F/A-18 Hornet of star fighters if the Hornet was VTOL capable.
I have watched all the movies, seen many episodes of the Clone Wars, read over 50 of the Expanded Universe novels and 2 of the new novels, yet each episode of Spacedock makes it all new and exciting again, leaving me with a thirst for more.
not bad, I love the video. I admit that the X-wing is my favorite star wars fighter.
"The Incom T-65 X-Wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star..." Talk about a trip down memory lane to Saturday mornings playing Rogue Squadron on the N64 as a kid.
By Joe! Jolly good show with that tremendously topping intro, old chaps!
So if the X-Wing is the Spitfire of the Rebellion, what is their Hurricane?
spamviking probably the A wing 😊
The Z-95 I guess?
Not the A-Wing. A-Win would have been the Typhoon
B-wing probs
@@dunamoose3446 B-Wing would be a heavy fighter like a Mosquito to me
Great video Spacedock!!!! I love t-65 x-wing. It looks so aggressive.
The fact that you used the Rebel Strike menu music gave me a shitload of nostalgia, thank you.
And even quoted the description of the X-Wing from the first game.
Yup
The start and end are exactly why I adore this channel, good show old bean !
Please continue the voice :)
The Death Star Trench Run being mirrored is like, the most cursed thing ever...
Spacedock really has some of the best scripts on UA-cam
An iconic symbol of rebellion old chap! Though I would prefer the T-70 & T-85 over the T-65B
The T-70 is honestly a perfectly designed successor to the T-65. Say what you will about Disney’s Star Wars, but you can’t argue that the ship design is superb.
@@a.morphous66Agreed. Although do pref the 65 since its just that wonderful and i like old stuff
Alex Boehm they might be technically better, but nothing beats the classic T-65.
@@a.morphous66 : _I_ say that 95% of maintenance is probably in the fore section of the quad engines. Cut the rotor of your atmospheric fans in half!?! For a _non-bench_ vehicle!?! Are they insane!?!
Well, regardless of whether the engineers were insane, the maintenance techs surely went insane. That is _not_ the right choice of part to divide parallel to it's axis, it would have made more sense to switch to cyclo-rotors!
Bookhead714 their fighter design maybe but their larger ship
Designs are kinda hit or miss
As soon as the music started it all suddenly came back. All those hours spent playing the game over and over. The nostalgia.
Gravometric Space Gentleman is probably the greatest combination of words i have ever heard.
Omg I love that you used music from the N64 Rogue Squadron game for this video.
The X-wing's the original replacement for the similar T-95 model, but turned out to surpass the older model serving the Rebellion/ New Republic and even the Resistance. Which means the X-Wing's like BSG's Viper Mark II; both of which outlived their original service span.
Truly that intro, though!!! 😂😂
One of my most favorite ships in Star Wars!!!

Alright, Jagermeister was hilarious. Well done.
Most EXCELLENT episode‼️‼️
you can do anything with an x-wing and plot armour
You should check out the indie title Final Theory. Simple game but it has just gorgeous ship designs. Would love to see a breakdown of that game's ship classes ☺
I love the Rogue Squadron game references!
The nearest Terran cousin would be the F-15 Eagle. Also multi-role, carrying a variety of firepower, tough, fast, deadly. The Eagle's profile is quite nearly the same as the T-65 family, only the wings and engines being the major difference. But the power and appearance making the F-15 one of the most popular fighters of the late 20th. Some may argue the older F-14 Tomcat, but the versatility was not discovered until late in the interceptor's life.
Best Patreon advert I’ve ever seen
top notch music choice
An oppertunity that I have always believed Star Wars failed to take advantage of; the possibility of an X-Wing with sustained fire cannons.
Imagine one of those things running low over Imperial ground forces and just letting loose with a continous beam from all four laser cannons.
Scorched earth indeed.
Given that they already had to space them out to maximise heat dissipation, continuous fire probably isn't practical. And the individual cannons' combined firing rate is already impressive enough.
My take is that the X-Wing _is_ purpose-built as a DPS strafer.
Think about it: Each cannon is tied to its own engine, and the S-foils provide a wide area of heat dissipation radiators. The X-wing doesn't mess around with ion cannons or bombs-- it's primary weapons are a quadruple array of big honkin' guns.
The role would be to strafe and harass Imperial gun emplacements with the goal of punching open a hole in the defensive screen so the Y-Wings can roll in and drop heavy ordnance.
Man, that music was nostalgic.
this video is perfect

Thank you .
Rogue Squadron music! And this is why I love this channel.
Exactly! I've also heard Star Trek Legacy music on videos discussing various Trek ships. While no where near as famous as the Rogue Squadron games, Legacy was a fun game in it's own right.

Love the Rogue Squadron theme!

Oh you're playing the RS theme. Guess I'm replaying the game now
This got me hype dam, feel like I could on the whole Empire
Loving the Rogue squadron theme.
With that music I want to play a Rogue Squadron game lol
Favorite ship
Was I the only one that couldn't come to terms with the look of the laser cannons just being glued on at the tips of the wings?
Disappointed it wasn't Rimmer's officer's club 😀
You know. It's kind of amazing that a mere Resistance Movement still able to procure advance starfighter and warship to fight against the Galactic Empire.
Make me wonder who actually is the biggest Alliance's support. Some power beyond the Galaxy maybe? ;)
In Legends the Empire planned to nationalize Incom and they heard about it and defected to the Alliance
I love the *Voice!!!*
Make him do it *AGAIN!!!* 😂😂😂
That new intro surprised me nice though.
You almost said the famous dogfights quote “speed maneuverability and firepower”
Rogue squadron theme!!! Excitement
I'm sure somewhere in the Empire, someone somewhere thinks of the X-Wing that it's not a problem if you don't look up (another Rogue One reference to go along with the opening quote albeit used out of context).
