You know your ship is cool when it has trains inside of it.
I like trains precedes to get run over
That’s me
The best form of transit
CIS naval strategy.
Build a super powerful ship to serve as your flagship, and give it a weapon that basically makes it unbeatable in capital ship combat. Then let it operate all alone with no escort fleet. No wonder the separatists lost.
At least the ship that appeared in in the TV show wanted to stay undetected since it was still unknown for the Republic. That's the reason why they always tried to kill all survivers in the escape pods. A big support fleet would hinder that. The rest was grivious incompetence.
@@joshuasimons7883 There's a reason he's called GENERAL Grievous and not ADMIRAL Grievous.
I suppose it probably took up too much Fleet Cap for them to field it with a support fleet.
@@joshuasimons7883 Then have a small support fleet. Imagine if the thing had just a couple of destroyers or small escort carrier with it. It probably could have wiped out Anakin's attack. The thing is massive enough to support a small group like that and still be secret.
Waiting for someone to say "Tarkin Doctrine". Every bad decision in SW is the Tarkin Doctrine at work.
I'll always find it odd how this ship is bigger and more powerful then the larger model of Providence-class yet that model is classed as a Dreadnought while this *absolute unit* is classed as a Heavy Cruiser
Now we wait for the dreadnought variant of the Subjagator
@@sphee4149 Dear Mother of God
@Jimmie Toyne wut.... are you smoking?
To be fair, Star Wars ship classifications are whack. Apparently a Star Destroyer is larger than a Heavy Cruiser.
Star Wars starship classifications are wack, without a doubt. But a Star Destroyer CAN be a heavy cruiser, and also be larger than (other/most) Heavy Cruisers. E.g. The Imperial - Class Star Destroyer is more of a Battleship-Carrier-Assault Transport hybrid, while the Victory-class fits more along the actual Heavy Cruiser, or Battle Cruiser roll. Star Destroyer can really just reefer to a ship that eschews the classical cylindrical form of design, and takes on the primordial design to provide substantial increase in surface area, and internal volume over similar 'sized' (length) ships.
Almost all capital ships in SW used cylindrical, or narrow rectangular design philosophies. Star Destroyers use the pyramidal/dagger design. (and there are exceptions to each.....)
But really, a Star Destroyer is a top-tier ship-of-the-line is what it really comes down to.
Or it can just be a purely psychological name and have nothing at all to do with the ship's actual capability (e.g. Gladiator - class, Aggressor - class, Interdictor - Class, and maybe others.
I once tried to apply logic to Star Wars .... ( www.reddit.com/r/SciFiDesigns/comments/ezxqw4/unified_classification_guide_for_warships_star/ )
The opening of Destroy Malevolence and Rising Malevolence still gives me goosebumps with their soundtrack.
Ah, the Bismarck of the Confederacy of Independent Systems .
Bring the space Fairey Swordfishes! We got to hunt her down.
THE BISMARCK AND THE KRIEGSMARINE
@@fernandomarques5166 I mean, the Y-wing fits the bill, being rather underpowered/underarmored to the point the rebels felt it was better to leave the armored plating off the engines as it was useless and got in the way of repairs....
A tad more successful but yeah pretty much
The writers sure managed to capture the public perception of Operation Rheinübung.
Based on the German battleship Bismarck which the allies hunted down. Sabaton has made an awesome song about the battleship.
Markus Steel9-3 A exactly what this reminded me of. There seems to be a resurgence of UA-cam content based around Bismarck since Sabaton released their masterpiece
@AKUJIRULE Bismark May have been a big threat worth hunting down but she wasnt that magnificent of a battleship tbh. The British had ships with the same gun config but 20 or so years older and smaller, and better armored. The U.S. battleship built at the sane time wouldve whooped her had they gotten the chance.
@AKUJIRULE Hood was a 20 plus year old outdated battlecruiser whose engines were falling apart. Bismark was a pratically brand new battleships who, unlike POW didnt suffer from major teething issues.
@AKUJIRULE Ok buddy slow your roll. First of all I wasn't "bitching" about older ships. I respect the Hood and the Iowa and any warship that served it's country as well as they did. But the fact is hood's engine were in a state of disrepair when she fought Bismark and she still hadnt recieved the additional top armor that might have saved her despite that refit. Also I said british battleships didn't I? Hood was a battlecruisers, they arent supposed to be able to beat battleships let alone be more heavily armored then them. Without even mentioning her age. Then theres the fact that Hood was only one of what? Three BCs in service with the Royal Navy? And the only one of her class at that? She's obviously an exception, even if I wasnt refering to British battleships specifically. And theres more to armor then just the belt thickness, layout and coverage are arguably more important, and British BCs are famous for having poor armor layouts. And if the Iowa, in her old age, was sunk by a DDG or a land launched missle or something i would argue the same for her.
@AKUJIRULE Being perfectly fair here, the Bismark got insanely lucky with that first shot. In a drawn out slug match I still put my money on Bismark, but it wouldn't have just rolled over the Hood
“I feel a malevolent force rising”
Just used the Riker technique to sit down and watch this informative technical video.
Careful. Daniel hates Riker.

I don't care what anyone says, this is the most awesome ship in all of Star Wars. Beautiful Design, Great Theme, Imposing Mission Profile. Seriously, if anyone can find the soundtrack used in it's episodes please tell me where. They really missed an opportunity to have the ship used outside the first three episodes of the series.
May I introduce you to a certain Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer?
@@aethertech **
I know that I’m late to this but this video has all of the music used for the malevolence.
ua-cam.com/video/A6qErPnZ4X0/v-deo.html&feature=share
@@aethertech you may, and it doesnt hold a candle to the malevolence. its just a super sized ISD, same weaknesses, same strengths. the malevolence is completly unique and if used properly quite unbeatable. give it a escort and have it bombard out of capital ships range, a few shots of its ion cannons and even a SSD would be disabled. perhaps even one is enough considering how fast its shielding went down in the movies.
I love the parallels between these ships and german battleships in ww2. There's especially many between Bismarck and the Malevolence.
The creators confirmed it was inspired by the Bismarck
@@cmdrgarbage1895 "Inspired" is a nice way to say "surface level rip-off"
Once again invoking the proud Star Wars tradition of sending out a super weapon/ship without a escort fleet*
Imagine one of these in the battle of Corescant (as long as it didn't friendly fire it's own sides ships, or at least too many of it's ships).
They have the facilities to coordinate a battle group, but never have a battlegroup.
If they were the centerpiece of a whole fleet/taskforce, the other ships could provide cover during the charging phase and take advantage of the stunned ships afterwards, then it's effectiveness would be even greater. Especially as it's mere presence would force GAR ships to not bunch up in order to not present a juicy target, they would have to spread out there forces making them more vunerable to conventional ships.
And they sent out the first one unguarded, giving the GAR a chance to learn about it and destroy it. Besides which it was just killing individual ships and small fleets, not inflicting a strategic defeat. Did it even kill enough enemy shipping to cover it's own cost?
It's the tired old _big bad ship_, trope.
*If the second Death Star had survived, when completed would it have also been sent out without a escort fleet?
perhaps...
Well, it's supposed to be kept as a secret so that's why it doesn't have an escort fleet, but it's still stupid not to have it accompanied by 2-3 Munificents
Also for a ship, that can kill pretty much any capital ship by draining its power, making it useless, it focuses too strong on turbolasers and heavy canons. Swapping a few of those for point defense cannons could've changed Anakin's attack run greatly.
Ah yes. The CIS, the faction where every ship class has a name which screams "We're the baddies". Only surpassed by the Galactic Empire of course.
Pudlord Tynan Well, to be fair if Sidious, Count Dooku, and Grievous weren't in charge then they wouldn't be the baddies.
@@kabob0077 Yeah you've got a point. But they weren't in charge of naming the ships. Not all of them at least.
Pudlord Tynan Um, "Munificent" means "Generous".
"Recusant" means "Defiant" or "Rebellious".
Not Every class name is scary...
It really does work in this case though, all their soldiers and pilots are droids so there is no need to worry about an "are we the baddies?" situation, and Sidious really just intended the CIS to be a force large enough to force the republic to militarize and to scare the senate into giving him absolute emergency powers all as part of his plot to take over the galaxy, kill the Jedi, and form the Empire. It makes perfect sense in-world for them to try and look and sound as evil as possible.
@@theknightskyisi not really, because to at least appear like a significant threat to the republic the CIS had to get the support of some Republic and independent systems. No one's going to join your side if you're obviously evil.
That said, the CIS did a very good job of having a good-looking coverup for their war machine. Since their entire army was droid-based and their leader was basically just an aristocrat (since no one knew he was a sith), and they had the backing of a bunch of huge, well-funded corporations, it didn't seem evil at least on the surface.
Spacedock will you ever do the imperial 2 star destroyer? If so I can’t wait, I love that ship.
"Heavy Cruiser"
X to doubt
(X).
X.
What was the CIS's greatest mistake though was not giving any of them an escort. You would think that they would have had some kind of escorting frigates or even Lucrehulks to help provide some Point Defense and Fighter/Bomber Screening. But just like the Bismarck it was intercepted easily by small strike craft and unable to escape a combined fleet, if it had more fighters it probably could have survived longer
Well, it was suposed to be like the Bismarck
@@KrissFliss Bismarck was supossed to have a larger escort, her sister Tirptiz, the Battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Guisenau, at least one other Hipper class vessel in addition to Prinz Eugen and at least 7 destroyers.
All escort would be disable by Ion blast too.
"That is one big cruiser-crusher."
-Ahsoka Tano
Thinking about it now, given the recent 78th anniversary of the Bismarck’s first and only voyage, the Malevolence is kinda the Star Wars equivalent to the German Battleship.
Imposingly large, incredibly powerful, the catalyst of a dedicated search by its enemies, disabled by an air strike, and destroyed by several minutes of capital ship gunfire.
Bismark wasnt that powerful..she was kinda badly designed tbh. She was still a threat though, and ig ships and stuff from Sci-fi are based on perception more then reality.
jaelon meggs actually, you might be right. She was supposed to be the biggest and newest thing in the Kriegsmarine, but she actually was pretty flawed. When she fired her guns for the first time, the shockwave alone knocked out her forward radar. Her guns were also arranged in an outdated and inefficient manner. Plus, her armor scheme didn’t provide too much protection anywhere beyond her citadel. Then, there was her low endurance. Her American counterparts like USS North Carolina could’ve eaten her for breakfast.
Still, her existence caused the Royal Navy to launch a a ferocious and dedicated effort to find and sink her.
@@josiahricafrente585 agreed. She was certainly something to be feared, but compared to her contemporaries and even those who came before her she wasn't exactly fearsome. And Idk how they didn't catch that before they launched her. Its the same with having the wires for some of her equipment expsoed outside of the armor.
I mean, the Bismarck DID destroy the poster ship of the royal navy, the HMS Hood, and greatly damaged the HMS Prince of Wales
Gwither26 You also have to realise that Hood was around 20 Years Old by the Denmark Strait and Prince of Wales was suffering from teething problems at the time, especially given the complex nature of her 4-Gun Turrets.
The ship I requested for months, you find to upload on my birthday. BLESS TOU DOCKY!!!
Curious to see whether an Executor has its systems hardened enough against ion attack to be able to safely challenge a Subjugator.
I think an Executor would be simply too large for the ion cannon to disable her in one hit.
I think Eckhart's Ladder did a starship comparison with these two, check his channel.
With even your mindset, Daniel, I consider this ship worthy of the title "Dreadnaught."
I really like the design. It looks like a cross between a real-life modern battlecruiser and a giant mechanical shark
If I had to choose a flagship, I'd probably choose a modified Subjugator that I'd call the Avenger. The main changes I would make would be moving the bridge to a secure location (the original would remain as a decoy), add some more point defense (especially around the ion cannons), making the hangers larger so that they can store more fighters other than droids, and adding things that would make it better suited to house people as well as droids
I would name mine The Benevolence 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thumbnail first impression. This ship looks an awful lot like the Nautilus from Disney's version of 20,000 leagues.
That was always my thought too!
I never knew there was more than one. I wish he did more of these cuz they're really well done videos.
The 2 dislikes are General Kenobi and Ani.
Sounds like the Bismarck class in the eyes of the Royal Navy. The way they were built in small numbers and sunk so quickly at the expense of other operations
They were made with the intent of being inspired by the Bismarck actually
Boy, -took you long enough- how I waited for this one! Thanks my dude.
Seriously, nice job.
3:17 "Carefully coordinated bomber strike." Knowing Anakin, are you sure it was either careful or coordinated?
Considering that anakin made the bombers go thru the balmorra run, no it wasnt careful. LMFAOO
When i first saw the Malevolence episodes as a kid i never realized how massive this ship was.
And to think, some people (Eckharts Ladder) think this ship is weak! Hah! People seem to really underestimate the Ion canons despite what was shown in the show.
It's not weak, but its has some severe flaws, including how they used it during the CW. Aside from those flaws, it's a very powerful warship.
It's strong in the clone wars but compared to GCW and First order ships it's quite weak
@@luxwray4878 Depends on how you use it.
Lux Wray - It’s ion canon was easily enough to disable 3 Venator class star destroyers and keep going past them, with the radius large enough to hit at least half a dozen ships in close formation. And that ion blast completely disabled them, no shields and no guns, easy targets for turbolasers to tear apart. Only something very large like a super-star destroyer probably has enough redundancies to tank that shot. Anything else is dead the moment that ion blast hits.
@@luxwray4878 Not really
I love how Space Dock can create informative videos about star ships and yet me all intensely dramatic in the presentation.
What an exposed bridge. I hope that there is a secondary interior bridge like the Resurgent Star Destroyer.
Sadly no
There are three command bridges, the tower, one on the dorsal hull behind the cannons, and a third on the forward ventral hull
Unlike Star Destroyers these bridges are actually well defend, notice the laser cannons around it?
When your bridge tower is larger than the size of an enemy Corvettes entire length I don't think it's all the much a concern...
It isnt the actually or only bridge though.
Whenever I hear that into theme, all I can imagine is; *Chhk* "Uhh Commander? I've lost contact with Voyager"
HE WAS MADE TO RULE THE SPACE ACROSS GALAXY !
TO LEAD THE WAR MACHINE!
MALEVOLENCE AND THE CIS NAVY!
THE TERROR OF THE RIM!
R/unexpectedsabaton
TO RULE THE SPACE AND LEAD THE CONFEDERATION!
I don't see why they had a Subjugator all by itself. I would think it would always be escorted.
Also in that episode of TCW I really questioned why the pod hunters were a thing. Wouldn't it be much easier and quicker to just use vulture droids and shoot them? Their ability to walk means they can maneuver around the debris very easily and look in all the nooks and crannies.
It's just like the Death Star Super Laser that the energy goes down a power conduit the same way and just like the first Death Star that takes 24 hours to recharge the same way with that thing.
This is the most impressive ship EVER. It's more intimidating than I previously thought.
Just wow.
You know you’re good when you get compared to the Executor.
I love all the CIS ship's they have the most realistic fleet in Star Wars minus this ship probably
Nah, this is still realistic. Its basically their Yamato or Bismark. A massively overgunned ship that probably wasn't worth it, but sure was terrifying.
@@hawkticus_history_corner yeah I agree when you put it like that
One thing that doesn’t get brought up, if you wanted to capture enemy ships or personnel this would be the perfect ship to do so. Disable a fleet without destroying it. Free fleet for grabs, just needs electrical repair work.
So basically the star wars version of the Bismarck and tierpitz
The Mandalorian blockade from SWTOR. I see you are a man of taste.
CCS Battlecruiser. I will never quit
I always thought that the design of the Subjugator-class was a very handsome one😄
Another weakness: the ion cannons can only be fired in broadside. Some creative formations and maneuvering by an enemy admiral could make them a non-factor.
That kind of depends on the range of the weapon. In close combat I completely agree, but the further out you get the less that matters.
The range of this ion cannon seems impressive. They appear to have a range far above that of a Venator, which was its main adverserie. The ship also turns rather fast for its size. And lets not forget the 1000 turbo lasers, that would be able to deal with small republic fleet by itself.
wargearinternational It's impressive...IF you're in its firing arc. Stay out of that, and its range is a moot point. I'll concede on its conventional weapons, though.
@@GarlicPudding Well, the problem is that most of the time the further away you are from something, the harder it is to stay out of it's firing arc, since a 10 degree turn might not mean much at two kilometers, but at ten thousand then it's a completely different story.
If you're able to exit hyperspace extremely close to the ship then you can render it moot... otherwise you'll have to spread your fleet out quite thin to ensure that it can only eliminate one ship at a time, but that itself brings problems, like your ships being unable to support eachother against whatever escort fleet is with the subjugator.
The Subjugator class suffered the same fate as the Bismark and her sister ships.
The Subjugator is my personal favorite Star Wars vessle!
Bro, if I ever get to make a Rogue Squadron game I want you to do the voiceover for the tech officer that gives ship descriptions, and maybe the mission profile officer. This channel is just too cool lol
I like how the malevolence arc mirrored the original edit of the rebels death star attack, when Luke's fighter force flew off to intercept the station.
I knew the Malevolance was based on the Bismarck, I didn’t know that the entire line had a similar fate though. I love the subtle nods to history!
You guys have been doing some seriously great work lately, good job!
At long last, it has arrived!
Hmm sounds like the Tirpitz, Bismarck, and Graf Spae
Tirpitz and Bismarck, okay... Graff Spee? That was a useless hunk of junk, compared to every other aircraft carrier around.
After more than a yr you finally analyze this ship :3
One of my favorite SW Lego sets
The Devastation was arguably the scariest of the sisters, that one had...wait for it, a superlaser.
Indeed
maybe it's stupid of me.
but I always like to compare ships sizes with 40k.
the basic "escort cruiser" is the same lengh as this behemoth.
it's hilarious.
New republic ships and the first order ships were even bigger than the subjugator class ships but no one complained about them being enormous or terrifying.
The malevolence was a terrifying overpowered monster that devastated entire fleets
I'd have this ship design as my flagship bit with the ion cannone on the front to make the ship appear like a forward attack ship and the forward heavy cannons would wipe the fleets out. The ships sides would be heavily armoured but still have cannons for fighter attacks and cargo holds for my fighters. Though the command post would be hidden to make sure that if one was damaged the other would keep the ship operational. Plus I would have a support fleet when I use it on full hostile invasion.
Well done!!!
how cool would it be if there was a battlefront map inside of a subjugator the railjets would be fun to fight on
My favorite ship.
Makes one wonder if this thing could go toe to toe with a SSD. Despite me being a fan of the CIS I don't think it would but who knows.
Let’s see the Executioner vs. the Malevolence!!!
My favorite CIS ship. Just the right amount of Overkill.
Replace the dual ion cannons with maybe one massive forward facing ion cannon? Then up gun and up armor and with the extra space. You basically got the largest and most potent assault ship in SW
Pride of the Confederacy, a beast made of plasteel. Malevolence in motion... king of explosion!
Actually the Subjugator wasn’t the largest ship used in the Clone Wars, the Republic used a few Mandator 1 and 2’s
Awesome breakdown and analysis as always!
HEAVY CRUISER? Damn, i dont want to see their battleships then.
The donuts from episode 1 are the cis battleships which is odd because they act more like a carrier but star wars ship classes are wierd.
non of the SW battleship lassifications makes sense so
Whats really baffling is the invisible hands class is supossdly a cis dreadnought and its smaller and packs less weapon than the so called heavy crusier
Hey, you should do the ships of the Galactic Empire. Similar to how you did the ships of the Galactic Republic.
If you ever bring back 'Spacedock vs' I'd like to see you narrate a battle between a Subjugator commanded by General Grievous and an Executor commanded by Darth Vader, I reckon that would be a somewhat balanced fight.
Though I'd like to hear what the comments think would happen.
Badass. If they had more could’ve made a real difference. Imagine if the Rebellion had one...
Vader would fly a fighter through the front of the bridge, kill everyone, mess with the hyperdrive, activate it and step out into space and wait to be picked up while he watched it accelerate straight into the nearest large rock.
@@jlokison or straight to a nearby rebel base
My favorite ship
I think with massive ships like these that are build in very low numbers they are all somewhat unique. Of course they are build to general specifications but they all would likely incorporate small improvements or have a few construction flaws. Also have slightly different lay-outs.
Real battleships also had this.
It would've dominated the battlefield had it had an escort detail. More protected, more lethal as well.
The escorts can focus fire on any small vessels trying to take it down, whilst the Subjugator itself can focus on the primary targets.
Great ship which i’ve 3D printed at 76 cm
chris sonofpear1 Bigger than the FFG Executer, which i will definitely 3D print as well at a similar size around 80 cm
*HEAVY* Cruiser
The Yamato of the CIS.
They gave the Droids more safety than the Death Star dudes.
This is my favorite ship in star wars
My very favourite Clone Wars ship, closely followed by the Venator.
Please do more Videos about Space Battleship Yamato for example: Andromeda, Ginga , Gamilan Dimensional Submarine!
I see a lot of the Subjugator in the Raddus/MC85 cruiser, i.e. the 'mouth' at the bow and smoother Quarren features. I think that is meant to represent the evolution of Mon Cal cruiser design in line with the Mon Calamari and Quarren uniting during the Clone Wars, and how their aesthetics have come to complement one another in ship design. I'm curious to see where this will go, possibly in the form of the MC90, or even a Star Defender if they're feeling generous
Last time I was this early, Alderaan was not an asteroid field
The Subjugator- Class Warship... It was scary AF.
Moral of the story: Never make Grevious an admiral.
1:17 looks like the death STAR fire,ING
Ok here my question can this ion emp thing work in a orbital bombardment situation or just shoots ships
Speaking of Confederate starships, any chance of a video on one of the Terran Confederacy / Terran Dominion ships (from Starcraft)? The Battlecruiser and Wraith are both pretty iconic Starcraft vessels...
Victory I & Victory II Star Destroyer, please. :D
Could you imagine if after being found out ,if they had put these into mass production.
Or even made those disablers larger and on a larger capital ship.
For example if they had 100 subjagators, each with 20 frigates ,with newer ships being put into research
Okay, I know this is Star Wars but I still cannot get over the idea of a bunch of droids controlling a ship by using human controls instead of directly integrating with the systems. It's just so backwards.
Honestly i never understood the massive focus on the Ion cannons. What if they replaced the Ions with hangers and used the extra power for PDC'S and turbolasers? I think it could be more deadly that way.
Substantial
Of all the ships the CIS had, this one still intimidates me.. I wonder how it would fare against an Imperial- or Resurgent- class one on one...
Have you ever considered doing any videos on ships from the Escape Velocity series?
I’d love to see one of these take on the Executor
Bruh the Executor is 19.5 Kilometres long and this is a mere 5.4 Kilometres it’s nearly 4x smaller than an Executor and it probably has hundreds if not thousands x less turbo lasers
what I would love to see is the Pride of the Core go up against the Subjugator
