From what I’ve heard, the Actis class interceptor was based off a Hasbro design for an alternate version of the Delta class starfighter. Maybe that could be it?
I wish the FO designs had taken more inspiration from these instead of just repainted TIEs. It would make sense for Kuat to make the fighters as well as the cruisers, seeing as Kuat had such a vested interest in an imperial government coming back to power.

lol right, the Tarkin Doctrine was literally the worst military decision ever, i mean besides the new republic deciding to demilitarize in the sequels. I mean can you imagine how fucked the rebels would of been if the Empire kept closer to the lesson learned in clone wars. Keeping clones instead of regular people, keeping many of the starships and vehicles from clone wars like the Venator which would of been a great support ship instead of worthless quezar and frigate ships the empire used. Also if they would of made more practical weapons of war and not weapons of terror like the death star. Like if Thrawns dream of the tie defender replacing the the regular tie. They would not loose great pilots to shitty starships shortcomings. The empire was its own worst enemy, i mean the shear amount of material, money, and lives wasted with the first death star destroyed should been reason enough not to repeat it by making another death star.
fun fact, you pretty much get a promotion every combat mission you survive. Soontir Fel was so good he got a Barony out of it. And his son was so good, he became Emperor. The Empire's TIE program might have been the most progressive meritocracy system in all SCI FI!
The root of the Empire's tie fighter right here folks. You can it most everywhere on this ship. The cockpit and window design, the side panels, the twin blaster cannons, the trade off of shielding and lack of a hyper space generator for much better light weight design maneuverability and all out speed speed. This is the template, the blueprint for the Imperial Navy's flashship fighter, the iconic tie fighter. Such a beautiful ship.
I think the idea of the Jedi flying a super minimalist fighter is great. Like, no fanciness, the Jedi don't need shields and armour. They're better off in the fastest, most maneuverable ship you can give them.
I think Kuat overcharged the Republic for this fighter. It was mostly engines and weapons without armor, hyperdrive a powerful generator or advanced sensors. It cost 300k new while the TIE cost $60k.
One of my favorite ships. I'd say that this is one of the best ships for dogfighting as on top of everything listed in the video, it also has probably the best field of view of any starfighter in the galaxy. The pilot can see directly in front, side to side, above and even a little below without moving the ship. It only lacks rear visibility which pretty much every fighter in Star Wars does as well.
Any game of Space CTF in Battlefront 2 (2005) is determined by wether the pilot knows how OP the ETA-2 Actis truly is, a difficult target to hit due to it’s small size, as well as it’s high speed and maneuverability.
Toward the end you mentioned that Darth Vader used this interceptor well after the clone wars That would be a great LEGO set: Darth Vader’s Sith Interceptor 😳
I luv the actis design, you can clearly see a evolution from the previous, Jedi Starfighter and where the eventual Imperial Tie Fighters that would come later.
I always wondered why the Jedi used the jump rings. They're cool but the getting stranding because your jump ring got clapped is sketchy AF if you really thing about it.
Thanks for making these shorts about different space craft and things. Can you do a special episode on Toilets? You know, I don’t buy the “most of the avionics were removed for weight savings”. Avionics aren’t particularly heavy, AI can run off of mid-range hardware these days. They’d save, what, a Kilogram?
Now if the Tie fighters had the cockpit design of the ETA II (I don't know why Sienar didn't improve upon It) would significantly improve Pilot sightlines and couple that with the Dagger wing of the Tie Striker. Tie fighters would probably be less like flying coffins.
Wafer thin armor, no shields and sometimes the weapons were too much for the power plant causing them to shut down. You'd want to be a jedi if you were flying this. At least it was pretty. ;)
I just watched the Mandalorian, and noticed a ship in the 3rd episode. It's the scene where Mando just landed and walked into town with baby Yoda. Right at the entrance into town, the ship in question almost looked like a realistic version of the hero ship in the Lego Star Wars Freemaker Adventures. Any thoughts?
I do like the sequel trilogy but it would be twice as good if it had the same creativity with ship designs that the first 6 movies had. The only good new designs that have been given the spotlight are the Resurgent Star Destroyer, the Tie Silencer and the Upsilon Shuttle.
