    I got the basic 12 set and they were very receptive to changing a few of the colors for me I even ordered 2 extra pans Buff Titanium and Royal Yellow and switched out the greens and got a Teal, a Scarlet Red, and Gold Ochre. I like these paints a lot, but I have not ordered more because of the cost. For a handmade paint they are reasonable, but I love DaVinci paints of California and they are professional grade and reasonably priced too! Thanks for showing these off. I hope you post the next project you do with these paints!

      12 is a good way to go and I'm happy to hear they are receptive to personalizing selections. I am currently spliting the large palette into several little ones to start using them more often, otherwise the paints feel too precious in this large tin and the number of colours overwhelming. It also makes them easier to take out en plein air, which is my favourite activity. It's winter right now in Montreal so I'll likely only start doing plein air in a couple of months so it will take some time before I can post anything using these paints.

      Glad you like them! I am staying far far away from any newsletters telling me they are back in stock, or that they are now available from a Canadian retailer! I cannot possibly get more of them. Not until I've spent a year or so playing with the ones I already have! But they are so tempting!

      It's a very soft Potter's pink. Very clean. It's how I'd imagine a piglet in a children's book would be coloured. I just got another Potter's pink from Greenleaf and Blueberry. There's is impactful, very different from A. Gallo but just as stunning, not be for a piglet, but something more tangible, a strong expressive hog, perhaps? It's deeper and quite dramatic. It has me curious about collecting a few more Potter's Pink from both big manufacturers and smaller handmade shops. Thank you for commenting!

    I love multi pigment paints! I personally never had trouble mixing with them and they are very convenient to have. I hope in the future when I get much more experienced with watercolors to get a gallo myself they look so nice and I appreciate that theg are not toxic 🥰
    Thankfully the artist community nowadays are more open and welcoming to different styles and preferences, when I first started watercolors everyone was against using black, and I love blacks so much so I always felt I shouldn't share my love for them 😅

      I agree and am definitely going to be featuring a few black pigments in my next videos. They often offer beautiful and diverse granulating textures, make some awesome green mixtures and give a certain style I personally enjoy.

      So the can responses from UA-cam for this comment were: "You should!", "They are!", "Please do!". I somewhat agree with all three but it feels almost irresponsible! They are lovely but expensive! I don't regret getting them because I like trying out new brands and like supporting handmade watercolour artisans but they are a bit of an investment! But if you do get them, I would love to know what you think of them and which ones you got! 😀

    12:38 I love that the watercolour community is changing. I am a bit of a “purist” in that I love transparency and single pigments. But I am glad that people are changing and embracing opacity (😉). I’m still not sure about multi-pigment mixes; I’d rather get to know the single-pigments first. Also, very few multi-pigment paints interest me and most of them are from A Gallo 🙂.

    • @GlendaVGarcia
      @GlendaVGarcia  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for sharing!! I'm realizing I really love purples and green mixes. There's so few of those that are single pigments, and I don't think we can count the DS Primatek ones after learning they contain a lot of other pigments they don't disclose on the tubes. And even when greens especially are pure pigments, I need to muddy them up to use them for landscapes and botanicals, so convenience mixes do come in handy. But I agree, getting to know your single pigments paint first is likely better. That's what I did and I often work from limited palettes to get to know my paints. I will likely make myself a few small palettes 4-6 colours from this larger set and explore the A. Gallo paints better that way.

    I really love the A. Gallo colours - they are gorgeous! I’ve got the Signature 1 palette and a custom palette with additional 12 colours I’ve chosen to complete the set. I adore all of them, even if they aren’t single pigment colours, as they really mix well! Thank you and I love swatching videos so I‘m interested in your long versions.

    • @GlendaVGarcia

      I totally agree! It's difficult for me right now to stop myself from getting more colours. I'm a bit of a completist, so knowing how many earth tones are missing from my collection is dangerously tempting. What has stopped me, other than the fact there's not reason for me to get more colours at this time, and I have other brands I've been trying out and playing with throughout the summer that make me just as happy and excited, is the fact they haven't come out with a complementary set that would just be the colours you are missing if you have the 48 set... If they came out with such a set, I would be probably getting it. The long version is coming out tomorrow for Halloween! I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for your kind comment :)

    You camera quality is really good , the color look to be very the real color. Usually the cameras change a lot of blues , ad magentas especially the turquoises!!!! They look to be very soft paint, the color are pretty!!!
    why you don't like mop brushs? I discovered that I'm very sensitive person that I preffer more shine than mat finishs in the wood to the toutch , some plastics in the mops could be a little bit irritate in my cuticle of my middle finger, than I fell more bad about being a sensitive person that look that we are very annoing person , but I 'm still in pres school of water colors and chinese ali express brush, art material in Brasil are expensive.
    Happy new year

      Olá! Como vai? Thank you so much for noticing! I use my phone, but I do have some good daylight bulbs. I'm not good at using colour correcting software and it's a pet peeve of mine to see people swatching and knowing the colours are off. So I often film during the day with indirect sunlight next to my window and also use the artificial daylight bulbs, that's what makes all the difference.
      I think we all have our preferences, I can use different brushes but I prefer Round Kolinksy Sable or imitation sable with a nice spring to them. Mop have their uses but I find them too floppy for my taste. They are however really good for painting loose and large so I do own a couple of them. I use inexpensive synthetic brushes all the time I only feel the difference when I either need to paint small details or thin lines or need to fill out large areas with a wash. That's when I realize I need several sizes of synthetic brushes to do what a single Kolinsky Sable brush in size 10/12 can do. Synthetics can do what real sable can, it just takes more steps.

      Me too!! I remember being surprised I didn't mention or highlight it in the voiceover. Of all the the warm yellows/orange colours, it was the one that popped up the most to me! Then I realized that when doing the smaller swatches I didn't notice the colour as much as when I did the bigger swatches! I definitely should get onto editing that video at some point!

      I totally agree! What do you think of the YInMn? I like it but it's not distinctive enough for me to want to splurge on it if I ever finish this pan. Then again, I don't have an issue spending on Lapis Lazuli for some reason. I don't think my pigment preferences are very rational! 😅

      I know! I gave up on Starbucks years ago to feed my art materials addiction... Worth every missed Frappuccino or other froufrou drink! But you definitely do not need any of the big palettes. Just choose a couple of colours you'd like to try, it's always a huge risk to buy such a large set without having tried them previously.

      I have my eye on a 12 color palette but I just splurged on a big sennelier palette a few months ago so it may be a while before I can justify it but I may get it for my birthday this fall.

    I want these soooo bad but I have glass jars upon glass jars ( and I mean the BIG ones) full of artist grade watercolor tubes that i just can't justify it. At least not all at once I think what im going to do is perhaps order like four or five shades at a time, every month or so that way it won't feel too heavy on my wallet lol.

    • @GlendaVGarcia
      @GlendaVGarcia  Рік тому +3

      That's how I started my collection of Sennelier paints. I gave up on Starbucks to offset the cost and it was totally worth it! Made me realized how much I used to spend on Starbucks which was trauma-inducing. It was also probably better for my health since I always went for Fraps and other sugary specialty drinks! In fact, I feel much less guilty since I stopped my almost daily froufrou drinks, I only get them once a week or every couple of weeks and indulge in art materials instead.

      @@GlendaVGarcia that actually makes me feel so much better! I too have a caffeine addiction. I get lattes every single day, multiple times a day! To think of not only the money, but also all the sugar... it makes me cringe. I shall try what you did and keep those paints in my mind as a prize. ❤️

    • @GlendaVGarcia
      @GlendaVGarcia  6 місяців тому

      Grazie! That being said, yes, they are rather expensive but I feel in Canada, a lot of brands feel rather expensive since most are imported. For reference, a Sennelier 48 set in Quebec on sale is currently only about 100$ less than what I paid the handmade watercolours from A. Gallo. Some people spend on expensive chocolates from a chocolatier, some on handmade leather items from an artisan, to me, it's one way of supporting craftsmen who are passionate about what they do and I get to have something that feels special and it satisfies my curiosity. Everyone prioritizes different things, enjoy what you have. It will likely take me a while before you see any footage of me actively using the paints since I have a long list of videos I still am working but I thank you again for your comment and interest. :)

    hum....why all the packaging? Does it really serve a purpose? Awesome, thanks so much:) New subscriber

    • @GlendaVGarcia
      @GlendaVGarcia  8 місяців тому

      Thanks for subbing! And as for the packaging, I do think it serves a purpose, no so much protection but the owner of the company is basically giving exposure to other artisans and other materials from Italy. The marbled paper is from a Florentine artisan. They print their swatch cards on Fabriano paper, the brushes are Tintoretto, though I don't know where the handmade linen bag is from, I wouldn't be surprised if it were also Italian. It's true, A. Gallo seems to be selling the "experience" but it's a tangible one, which I appreciate more than say DS and the way they describe their paints.

    Really disappointed with the quality of the paint pallet in my new smaller paint set. For the prices charged it’s pretty poor. Box has sharp edges and one of the fold out mixing lids does not lie flat. Have not swatched the paints yet so can’t comment on quality. My set is the smaller Signature 1. With 12 half pans.

    • @GlendaVGarcia
      @GlendaVGarcia  8 місяців тому

      I'm a bit conflicted about the metal palette. But then again, a good solid palette would raise the cost of the paints, and in my case, I don't much care about a 48 palette size metal palette. I have a few, both the expensive and the inexpensive types, and I prefer the small and medium size ones. For the smaller size ones, it might have been worth them investing on a better palette? The sharp edges unfortunately are linked to the type of palette rather than to quality of tin. I've had expensive metal palettes made from stronger metal but have sharp edges and cheap metal palettes with nice rounded protected edges. Ultimately, I will be working from smaller palettes and moving my colours and this large palette will simply be the "family home" for the colours when they get rotated out of my smaller limited palettes, so though it was disappointed, it doesn't change my mind of the overall product. But anyone wanting to use the metal palette as the main palette to travel and throw around in their bag may end up being disappointed. How have you been finding the smaller set? I sometimes wedge something in the hinge area if I want my lid to stay up higher, or I bend it back to make it lie down. I always tinker with the tins, none of them are ever perfect.
