“It’s so pretty mommy...can I try? I’ll be extra careful and gentle” that made me cry! You have such wonderful sweet kids 💕
They make me cry too!! They're such amazing little people.
That made me tear up too
“I know my colors”
I love your daughter’s confidence lol
Such a cutie 😂💜
her: “i’ll me extra extra careful and gentle
me: 🤙🏼😞😢
Did she just say "cyan?!" LOOOVE HERRRR!!
''but not alot'' that was so cute
“I thought it was like cyan! Yeah, I know my colors......... but not a lot.” I burst out laughing, ahah
"it's so pretty mummy" THE WAY I MELTED
Your kids at school:
Teacher: This is blu-
Kid: That's not blue. İt's cyan.
Teacher: Yeah it might be different kind of blue but it's still blue. Anyway, this is red...
Kid: No, that is a crimson red.
Teacher: What on the earth...
😂
😂😂
Hajdjshdghandbhsndh 💀🤣
I just watched "my favourite red" and then watched this and this one is way quicker to even out

hi
Samee
Hey there Arlee! I have some pointers for you, as I used to work for Windsor Newton, and Sennelier mechanical department (AKA fixing the milling machines, and I learned a LOT about paint consistency and proper mixing) from what was I see from your videos and your paint texture, it looks like you have too much liquid binder, giving your paint a runny consistency. Your paint should stay put on the mixing panel and should not "Fuyez" (a term used by Sennelier paint makers that I picked up, basically means the paint is running away because there's too much liquid, lol). It should sit on your palette like honey, and "relax" slowly, that's how you know you have proper consistency, with maximum pigment load. Obviously, your paint is your preference- I just thought I would help! Loved the video
can i ask sth? Are those paints much cheaper?
@@izabelaswa85 sennelier paint? Oh God no, they're professional grade. Same with Windsor & Newton.
@@dilonnarutherford2182 I mean self made paints
@@dilonnarutherford2182 so, are self made paints much cheaper than bought ones? Sorry for bothering u but i wanted to know coz i dont have a lot of money (im boying my art supplies on chinas websites where theyre a lot cheaper than in regular stores, I also wait for promotions or cupon codes so i wont spend my all money on art supplies) so maybe ill think about making my own paint too?
@@izabelaswa85 self making your paints can actually have more initial expenses. Because you have to buy all the supplies to make the paint, bulk pigments can cost upwards of $20 for a jar, and even more rare pigments can cost more. So, in the long run, you'll save money, because you'll be making a ton of paint, but the downside is, you'll have a ton of only one color.
So,
PROS:, you'll know what's going into your paint, you can control the pigment load, and the quality, also you'll have a ton of paint, and it's very rewarding to make your own paint.
CONS: a high initial Cost, such as $15+ for a single pigment, and $15+ for a binder, and then anywhere between $10-$30 for ox gal, or good quality Honey, $50+ for a paint muller, and anywhere between $0-$100 for a glass slate for mulling the paint. So, you're looking from anywhere between $50-$300+ for initial costs of supplies; and most times - as Arlee has said- you'll end up with more paint than you need/can use in a lifetime haha.
I recommend that you hold off on making your own paint if are having financial trouble, it's definitely not something you want to get into if you're having a hard time with Money. If you're patient, I guess you could start collecting pigments in small quantities now. Just get them whenever you have some money, and slowly build up your collection, that's what I did.
Also you're not bothering me, I'm happy to help!
Your paint making videos are always so relaxing to watch, but when your kids came in to help swatch it just made my day! They seem like sweet hearts and it’s nice to see you let them swatch the paints and help out! Genuinely heart warming.
we need more videos like this to soothe our depressing souls 😍
“can i try? i’ll be extra extra careful and gentle!” your child is so so sweet. i just randomly clicked on this video and i’m an artist so this was super interesting to me to see the process of where paints come from! amazing!!!
I forgot how much I loved the internal narration of the glass muller as it sought freedom.
SAME 😂😂😩😩
Your kids are the sweetest! Your such a sweet mother!
Wait...SIX hours? Oh yikes. That sounds like such a headache. No wonder you were feeling defeated. Hope your next paint making day goes better!
(Nice Solas shirt, btw!)
Your kids are the cutest!!!
When I make my po49 quin gold watercolor, you have to premix your po49 pigment with gum dextrin, to stop it from floculating in the gum arabic binder mix. It is an extremely active pigment. I don't use dextrin in any of my watercolors, except in anything that I put po49 in. I do use gum dextrin when I make gouache, so I always have it on hand. Have a good one
“ can I try? I’ll be extra careful and gentle” AAHHHHH THATS SO CUTE. I could practically hear the puppy eyes through the screen, that one must be hard to bargain with aha! So cute
Yo this is low key asmr, i love it
“I know my colors”
My heart melted when they said that❤️
Wow. Now I know why handmade paints cost more 💛💛 I have sooo much respect for you! 💛💛💛 loved the video 🙌🏼
arleesha! tysm for making these videos; easily my favorite “series” for lack of a better word :p they’re so relaxing & informative. it really peels back the layers on the hidden art of paint making.
Why are some colours easier to mull than others? Also you've got some smart kids! (:
The pigments
Some pigments bind faster, while others take longer/require more work. It depends on what the pigments were made out of for how well they can soak up the medium.
16:06
I think if I remember correctly (it has been many years) that if you mix THIS Pigment
with a little water first, make a wet paste.... really good, then it will mix with the binder better, and less time to maul.
Those kids... my heart
SIX hours?! Goodness! What an interesting video to watch the behind the scenes of watercolors! Great video!
Love the ochre-ish hues in the end, looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing the process and being upfront about everything 😊
That saffron is STUNNING -- I love the look of the mixed pigments!!
I am so happy UA-cam recommended this for me. I am utterly obsessed with this series ❤️
"Extra extra careful and gentle!" Too cute! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
The swatch with different colors actually looks so good as a set!
I honestly so deeply love hearing the process of making the paint. The sounds are just so comfortably tactile and I wish there were more videos like this online.
You have such a soothing voice! I love the orange that you made, even if it took hours and hours to mull.
I'm only 6 minutes in but I'm already loving this SO much. ugh the mixing sounds with the palette knife are so good
I am sooooooo THANKFUL for your videos on how to make watercolor paints. I have been working on making them and you are giving me the courage to keep trying. Thank you, SERIOUSLY
“it’s so pretty mommy” MY HEART
This was so much fun. I watched this while eating dinner. A very nice hangout video
Awwww I love your smile, your paint making videos are sooo cool
Please continue sharing, when it's good, the process and when things go wrong. 😊 It's so nice to see the real process. And to se you. And to learn from you
that quin gold is SOOOO gorgeous! i hope you can make it work, even mixed with the yellow pigment it was stunning!
the yellow makes such nice pastels!
Those mixed colours were so pretty!!! I am in love
You inspire me. I love hearing the kids.
As a beginning watercolorist this was awesome to watch. I loved your little “I know my colors”, so cute!
Okayyyy your kids are literal sweeties. Omg such sweethearts. When they talked I think I was melting away in a puddle!
What a sweet little boy! I loved how he was respectful of your paint, and that he knew he needed to be careful in your studio. Great job, Mom 🥰🥰
this is very satisfying....i couldn't even get over you making your favorite red color
I love the sweetness in you! For some reason your videos always show how nice and sweet you’re
This is so inspirational! Please, more studio vlogs!
this looks like so much fun, and relaxing too
this video was so satisfying to watch !
I loved watching this! Your kids are so cute!
I really enjoyed the video! It’s interesting to learn and see what all goes into making wc paint.
Sorry to hear you had such a hard time with that new pigment! The mixed quin gold color turned out nice! It kinda looks like a gamboge.
Mulling the original quin gold pigment into paint sounds like a lot of work! If you happen to make some of the quin gold, though, it’d be awesome to know how it turned out!
Thanks for the vid! 💕
I can’t wait to have kids and have them be excited about my work! Also your kids are so cute and well mannered, nothing like how I was when I was little.
I watched and loved every single second of it.
I love watching your videos especially this! It is surprisingly satisfying to watch and makes me want to make paints as well. Keep it up! :-)
#FreeTheGlassMuller

Your kid is so adorable!!

I love your paint making videos! If you posted a 3 hour long video of you mixing paint, you bet I’d watch it!
Great video babe, very informative and visually entertaining :) your kids voices made me tear up 💓
gosh this is so aesthetically pleasing🥂✨
This is so sweet! 😭😭
Your kids in the background make me so happy!!! "I know my colors! But not a lot..." lol great way to head off to my oral exam.
Your kids are so cute and supportive
So cool to see your process! I just started a studio vlog myself.
Your kids are so cute!!! ❤
Idk if it was intentional but the asmr vibes in this video are so real and I appreciate it lol.
PY53 is such a *you* color! And when I heard "Cyan" I was like "Dang, she knows her colors!" which of course was immediately her confirming the same thing :) Oh my heck, 6 hours!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that frustration. Hunter is a saint! Thanks for sharing your process, I hope to pick it up again some day again!
A wonderful video!I love your positive attitude, and the q&a was very helpful. ッ
Quin gold takes SIX HOURS???! Brutal! I have a greater appreciation for the colour now.
I love this series, I find your videos so relaxing to watch. After you've filled the pans for the first time, how do you keep the remaining paint wet for the final pour into the pans?
your kids are so precious
You are beautiful and your soul too! Your daughter is so sweet she reminds me of my daughter Anora Luna. She’s always boosting my confidence in such a sweet way😊💕
I hope that one day I can be half the artist you are. I love these type of videos and basically all your other ones!!!
I’ve had my eye on pigment yellow 53. Primarily because it’s inorganic and probably easy to disperse and somewhat cheap. This video is the first time I’ve seen this pigment wet. To me it sits half way between hansa yellow light( lemon yellow) and yellow iron oxide. The natural green tint speaks to me. The whole color is soft and a little muted. Like it’s even a tertiary color like citron.
Very informative as always - I noticed the Qor's Aquazol Ox Gal liquid is shown in the video but not listed in the ingredients. I researched and it 's a Liquid preparation medium for wetting painting surfaces; aids color flow.
You should absolutely make and sell a palette of the colors you find most essential for mixing, where with just a few colors you can get a range of different colors and tones I would buy it in a heartbeat 😍
Your kids are so well behaved and your such a gentle nice mom
That is such a beautiful color
Omg! Who knew paint making was so dangerous haha. Sorry you had such a rough day though. I learned something from you though so all you efforts were well worth the trouble 😁 I had been wondering why people were mulling their paints for so long. I had also wondered how to fix the problem I was having of my paint rubbing off lightly. Hmmmm I do believe I have the answer so, thank you very much.I just wish it hadn't cost you so dearly. And your kid! How cute was that?! I almost died, " Oh, I thought it was Cyan" , too much cute right there. 🤗
your smile is so precious omg
When you first mall the read it's so pretty
Your kiddos are too cute. ❤
Did you say “very long video”, I am here for it! Love seeing how and what you do with your paint making skills. Please do more like this and yes, make them long haha
"its soo pretty mommyyyy" my heart MELTED
Your kids seem so sweet and adorable and respectful!! I gasped when I heard them speaking loool
i know its not about looks but your so cute! loving your freckles!
What a relaxing video
Hi! New sub here 😊 I really love your sense of humour. Don’t give up, it’s really inspiring watching you.
Glycerin helps blend in binder powder as alcohol helps paint disperse. That's a pretty color.
Man it was so cool and calming to watch you mix paints. Makes me want to try it so bad but I don't have the space or time really.
Also what cartridges are you using on your respirator? Regular dust cartridges?
Great question.
I see that egg-head there on your shirt at the end and it filled me with SO much joy!!!! Also I loved this video and am still so concerned that you had such a hard day. I really hope your finger is healing up okay.
WOW! I loved watching this video! I recently made some paint from Ochre I harvested from a hiking trip. After making a batch of oil paint with it, I wondered how I would do at making some other paints. I recently bought some blue pigments. Do you have any suggestions or do you stick with watercolors only?
cute and lovely kiddos
3:52 you look like you are going into the apocalypse lol. Paint making is so incredible, I have yet the time to do it. You and your kids are so sweet ♥️
