  • Hello and welcome (back) to my channel! Today I'm unboxing and swatching the first 12 paints of A.Gallo's classic 48 set.
Every set of the classic 48 watercolours comes with 10 sheets of Fabriano 5 paper as a gift. I also purchased two Tintoretto brushes and qualified for another gift - the tote bag. Thanks A.Gallo!
My obsession with A.Gallo handmade watercolours started when I purchased their essential six palette. I really liked the paints and wanted to try more colours so eventually I bought the classic 48 set.
The paints have the name of the colour or pigment written on the pans so I would recommend adding whichever information is missing straight away to avoid any confusion later. I also swatched the paints how the colour chart has them, not the swatch card. I had to swap some paints around, but not too many.
I hope you like the video 🙂

what difference if any do you notice between the Vermillion and the Medici Red...look so similar...I have quite of few of her paints...over the years...yikes...trying to figure out how they flow and how much they stain...whatcha think!

I agree, vermilion red and Medici red do look similar and you have to look very closely to actually see the difference once these paints are dry. I find Medici red a touch more saturated and a bit more orange than vermilion red, however the difference is barely noticeable. I haven't done any mixing yet so this is probably where the differences might be visible. Staining is pigment related so you can find this information on the maker's website or do your own tests which would be best because staining can also be affected by the paper you use. Same with flow - it will depend on the paper and how much water is used. I swatch wet-on-wet and none of the paints so far have dispersed in an uncontrollable manner. Let's see what the rest 36 brings 🙂

I use Pigma Micron pens by Sakura, usually size 01 or 02. Thank you for watching 😊

Did you purchase all those from their website or were there freebies?

I purchased this set from their website and every collection 48 comes with the paper. I also purchased two Tintoretto brushes and was sent the tote bag as a gift.
