    My top 5 would be 1 Colt Ar-15 because I could use it for anything. Hunting protection etc. 2 Mossberg 12 gauge 835 because it is a pump and you can use any length shell in it. Also you would not have to worry about it jamming as much as semi auto shotguns are prone to. 3 Ruger 10/22 because it also can be used for practically anything and you can carry a lot of ammo in your pockets. 4 my Bulgarian AK-47 mainly as a backup for my AR-15. I figure that where I am at that I really don't need a long range rifle and would rather have the fire power of larger magazines. 5 Beretta 92FS because 9mm is more available and a pistol is easy to carry. I ranked the pistol as last because for me it is only good for up close ranges. I can't hit something running at 200 yards like you see in the movies.

    1.) AR-15 556
    2.) 22 LR Henry Repeater
    3.) 30-06 Remington
    4.) Mossberg 500 12G
    5.) Jericho 941 9mm

  • @brandonh4527
    @brandonh4527 Рік тому +7

    1) 9mm full sized pistol
    2) .308 (or other common full sized NATO military cartridge) bolt gun with back up iron sights - Scout Rifle
    3) 5.56 AR or similar rifle
    4) 12 Gauge Remington 870 or Mossberg 590
    5) .45 ACP pistol
    A 9mm handgun is going to be a lot easier to find food for than other pistol calibers, so that is why it is number 1; you can discreetly carry it with you wherever you go. Not to mention, more ammo on board and lower recoil is almost always a benefit.
    A Scout rifle is my 2nd choice because it can do it all from fighting to surviving, and most importantly, it is a manual cycling action. You can even push it into a precision rifle role if needed.
    An AR or similar 5.56 because again NATO Cartridge and STANAG magazine compatibility is going to be a huge benefit. Also like the scout rifle, it can be pretty versatile; however, maintenance to keep it reliably running may be an issue depending on the scenario.
    12 Gauge because it's plentiful, the most versatile and largely negates the need for a .22 rifle.
    Finally, the .45 ACP pistol. It may be number 5, but that is not to say it would not be number 1. The most important thing is to have something all the time. .45 ACP is still a popular cartridge, even with the 9x19 craze and ammo availability is still there. The upside to this is in the event that 9x19 is getting harder to come by, you have another mainstream cartridge available and a tool that you can carry on you discreetly should 9mm become an issue to find later.

      Great list. And mine in the comments above placed AR15 in the same venue for the same reasoning. But a good compromise to consider would be the Troy pump action rifle. Fit and feel is AR15. Reliability as a manual action is unquestioned, stanag mag compatible, and all the optics, irons, lights will mount just fine. And ar15 trigger options are abundant as well. And with 77gr bthp for hunting rounds will take a deer.
      Just a thought

    • @DarkE93

      I would reconsider .22LR, as it is the most ideal round for hunting small game. Hunting rabbit with 12 gauge would not be as clean or efficient. I would replace 45 acp with .22R. Unless you get a .22LR conversion kit for your 5.556 rifle…. Is that cheating?

    • @brandonh4527
      @brandonh4527 Рік тому +1

      @@DarkE93 The only reason I disqualified the .22 is because it's kind of a one trick pony. It's a small caliber that can be suppressed really well and offer advantages to taking small game. Ammo is also fairly plentiful and easy to carry. But that's all it really has going for it.
      I chose the .45 is also naturally a very suppressible caliber because it is slow and fat. It and the 9mm hit with pretty equivalent if not more force that you would get from a .22 rifle. They are also a centerfire cartridge so they are going to be more reliable overall, and more concealable. Not to mention the .22 is a pretty dirty round and getting to service your tools in an environment as proposed could be difficult or even impossible at times.
      The 12gauge is a compromise no doubt, especially when looking at smaller game, but it will serve for the better overall purpose of getting larger game. Which is probably what your game plan should be because you should be creating alliances and communities for provisions and protection.

    • @DarkE93

      @@brandonh4527 great points! 45 acp is definitely the most economical subsonic round. Subsonic 300 blk will be impossible to find during SHTF. 22LR also serves as the cheapest way to train young shooters. Build good mechanics with cheap 22LR and save your 5.56 for when you need it

    I usually don't feel like I relate to older gun owners or social media/creators and it feels a little... disconnecting. But I found you guys pretty entertaining and chill. Not chuds or political.
    If I had to go top 5 from what I own:
    1. Mini 14 - Less moving parts than my ARs, easy to shoot, iron signts, lightweight, .223 rounds are so much more common in the states.
    2. Savage Scout 11 / Ruger America (.308) - both rifles are great. I like the American more if I am not going far, cause barrel length and weight help accuracy, but Savage Scout 11 is portable, has iron sights, and is easy to carry far or in rough terrain if hunting.
    3. Ruger 10/22 - Great for small game such as squirrel or rabbit. I haven't hunted big game and probably would struggle at first, not that I'm averse to hunting or dressing animals, I just don't know as much. Also the ammo is cheap and light.
    4. Arsenal 107R (AK) - Do it all weapon and for hunting. Can take big game, can defend myself, a lot less small moving parts compared to the AR platform (nothing wrong with AR I am just clumsy and have big hands.)
    5. For now, I'd have to say my Ruger .556 (it can shoot .556 or .223) and isn't hard to shoot right or operate. I don't really like ARs as much because more parts means more potential issues and eventually needing to replace parts. When I finally buy a shotgun like a Mossberg 500 then I will list that. Safe, easy to use, defends the home well, especially since I'll be living near Canada and bears in the future.
    Not mentioned: My CZ P01 or CZ75b. I have other guns, including a .357 Ruger PCR but I would choose these two. 9mm, large capacity, and well built aluminum and can carry.
    I think a handgun is a given, but generally is just a sidearm. I would carry one always as if a pocket knife so it counts.

    When I was planning to acquire a 22LR SHTF rifle couple of years ago, one of the requirements was a tube magazine because it can't be lost. I ended up with a Remington 550-1 semi-auto that, supposedly, shoots 22 S/L/LR. But if were younger I would take my AR because I could sling it behind me, as long as I didn't need to take a pack. And I could also take along a Blackhawk .41 magnum, it being less of a crack when fired.

      Good choice with the .22lr conversion. I have that, too, but I have no hopes of finding game if there was a SHTF. When I used to hike in the back country of my state, I never saw a bear or a cougar or an elk or any kind of food animal. In my region those animals are seen near civilization. I have deer in my yard every day and have seen as many as 40 elk at a time not far from houses, and I live 25 miles from a wilderness area. And since I no longer believe in all those wild conspiracies, I don't see any major collapse on the horizon.

    1) any 16in 5.56 AR15 (ammo/parts very common in my area)
    2) Ruger 1022 (22 great for small game and ammo is light and commonly found in bulk)
    3) mossberg 500/590 (common in my area and vast purpose depending on ammo)
    4) Sig P320 (my edc plus 9mm is very common)
    5) Glock 19 (arguably the most common pistol in the world, ammo is common, and interchangeable parts are very common)
    Ultimately I’d probably move towards the semi urban/semi outskirts of the Phoenix metro area where the biggest animals I could encounter are javelinas and coyotes, but I’d still have access to urban areas, hence the idea of sticking to common ammo types.

    The Tavor X95 beats all of these guns. You can change the caliber to 9mm, 300 BLK, 5.56 NATO, .223 REM, and 7.62X51. Plus you don’t lose velocity cause it’s still a 16/18 inch barrel and it’s a gas piston system so it’s more reliable than an AR and it’s a shorter length so it’s easier to carry for long periods of time and it’s compatible with all AR 15 magazines and it’s suppressor ready. It is literally the perfect rifle lol

    Depends on age and gender. If you're in a SHTF situation, I would imagine a lot of walking in the woods carrying a heavy backpack. So the average woman or old man is not going to be able to carry the same amount of gear as the average young man. If I was a young man then I would go with an higher end AR15. Most versatile weapon out there. If I was a woman or older man most likely a polymer 9mm pistol (S&W M&P or Sig M17/18). Most popular caliber which means best chance at finding ammo and effective against most 2 legged or 4 legged animals.

    Having the 50 cal makes you lose. Doesn't matter what Apocalypse it is, that has limited use. Having the Handgun, particularly a Glock at #2 makes you the winner. Why? For the reason you gave, because you can carry both it and #1 easily. I would make my #1 in that case a PCC that took Glock Mags. It isn't just the weight of the weapon, but the ammo too. Could even add in a 10/22 Compact or takedown in the backpack with those 2.

    Jesus this guy is child lol bought his first gun in 2020 lol . I’m just teasing really.
    My choices from my safe
    5. .308 bolt gun. Mine is Remington 793 16” bbl in MDT chassis
    4. S&W Highway Patrolman .357 mag (simple, reliable, and interchangeable ammunition.357 mag/.38 special)
    3. AR-15 ( middle of the road great for small game and defence but long term reliability and parts give me hesitation)
    2. Remington 870, 18.5” bbl, variable chokes, magpul furniture, irons and red dot and cerakoted (this should be my first choice😅)
    1. Marlin .357 mag lever gun. Like the #4 reliable, easy ammunition compatibility, fixed magazine (won’t lose mags) decent capacity of 8 rounds, inside 100 yards will take game just fine (moose’s may be a problem 🤔) and anyone can feel comfortable shooting this gun it’s great for new shooters to learn on and build confidence.
    So overall Miles had much more practicality in order. #TeamMiles

    My choices (based on ruggedness and the fact that I live in the United States):
    (1) AK-101 (PSA) chambered in 5.56;
    (2) M-4 carbine (Colt) chambered in 5.56 (simply because there is so much 5.55 / 223 ammo and mags in the United States);
    (3) Galil (American Tactical) chambered in 5.56;
    (4) HK G3 (PTR 91 GI) chambered in 308;
    (5) FN FAL Para with 21 inch barrel (DSA) chambered in 308.
    All of those rifles run like a tank. Most of the Cold War era rifles were designed under the premise that they would be used on an atomic battlefield during World War III.

    My choices would be (and this is, I believe, UK compliant because our gun laws are pretty tyrannical...)
    1. Some sort of simple bolt action rifle like a Remington 700 in .308 would be my go-to rifle, because anything semi-auto we are limited to .22, and I'd want some stopping power in my go-to rifle. Always liked my classical bolt actions. Plus, where I am is very hilly, so having something with some long range is going to be useful.
    2. AR-15 in .22LR (we can only go up to .22LR in semi-auto) would be a close 2nd due to the versatility and that increased fire rate. Plus .22LR recoil is so easy to control that I can make accurate follow up shots very quickly.
    3. Mossberg break action shotgun (only allowed 2 shot shotguns...)
    4. Some sort of large calibre bolt action, like a Ruger precision rifle in .338 lapua (.50 cal is illegal as too much energy). Just in case of those pesky suburbans!
    5. Probably just a 2nd .308 bolt action or .22LR AR-15 as a backup / gun that my partner can also shoot
    Had to really think, since our gun laws are weird over here.
