The part of the show that takes place in the past is arguably better than the "current" time.
So I've heard. Perhaps comics and animation are a better medium for this story.
Thats the only thing that kept me watching till I seen the last episode. Well hope it was the last... 😅
Only about half way through and agree 100% - the past has mystery, tension and a reason to keep watching. The present just has a bunch of bumbling muppets that have made no connection to the audience, and no real sense of story either...
I know, right?! They could've gotten rid of the modern storyline and just focused on the past one and this show would've been much better.

When the daughter started blaming her superhero father for not being there for her. I rolled my eyes soooo hard. It's like we are going this route huh... oh lord...
There's a difference between an absent father and an emotionally abusive father, I'd prefer the first option.
Utopian's standards are too rigid and he really just lays the guilt trip on any family member he can find. His lack of willingness to adapt makes him a poor father (and a poor team leader too). Also, holy crap, its not hard to say I'm wrong.
and yet, she was very right. Utopian wasn't there. not because he was saving the world, but because he has an expectation that is so high and mighty that no one could measure up to them. and he WAS a shitty father. as you see throughout the show

I wont lie, the most interesting part of the show to me was less the modern segment and more the flashback segments. The story in the retrospective of The Utopian and the old guard is... much more interesting then the other segment.
It was real upsetting every time the flashbacks ended and went modern

I loved! it tbh for sure one of the best Superhero shows made. No filler straight to the point, as the show goes on you learn more and more and the back story of the older heroes is BRILLIANT!!
I had some problems with the show personally. I'm only 2 episodes in so far, but I actually like the janky effects. It has an older era feel that probably won't appeal to the larger chunk of people today, but it does to me. It's got a certain style that's much like the kind of charm the first Mortal Kombat movie had...which I may or may not be pulling off the movie shelf right now lol

Once again the courts fail to dish out the proper punishment for the villains. Super Heroes don't have the legal authority to be judge, jury and executioner to criminals. They can make a Citizens arrest, because thats essentially what they are, citizens. But they can't kill someone, because that's against the law and they would be branded criminals as well. Now the self-defence argument could be applied in some situations, but even so its still murder and a good criminal lawyer can spin the facts against you.
Bottom line, its not the heroes "No Kill" Rule thats the problem. It's the courts not dish out out the Death Penalty to mass murderers thats the problem.

Imagine if instead of killing the guardians at the end of the first episode, omni-man revealed he was PLANNING to kill the Guardians at the END of the season and that’s basically what this show did with the source material

I really agree this should have been animated. A superhero show works best in animation because you can really go crazy with visuals.
The problem is that "live action" like this uses CG animation anyway, but the disconnect is difficult to execute, at best.

I completely loved the show .
Based on the actual volumes I think the best part hasn’t happened yet and there is a huge turn that happens by next season.
But by then,even if they could get the green light,budget will be cut making whatever "best part" impossible to pull off.
I mean: witnessing the “bad guy” fry some ones body but leave their head was uh... holy shit..
The end of the fight had me doing the holy shit and had to pause it their. Seen laser blast in dragon ball z so nothing new but they get off my dad punch now that is something i rarely see and loved it. That was when i knew am in for a ride a long kind of confusing ride of past and present.
The weird young old people thing messed with me the whole time lmao.
They should have done like Dark, that had actors who looked very much like each other, when playing the same characters in different moments of their lives.

I actually really enjoyed and I hope there is a second season. The whole think with the girls head though he burned off with that big laser blast from his chest.

@@zerokura Meh... the twist was not really a twist cuz Walts downfall was too on the nose, a part of why I think splicing the Present and the Past together is not a good idea.

I was abit lost a few times when they jumped around i was feeling i was watching two different shows than were filmed together but i get its a legacy so we need to know where everything started. But it was fun seeing Red from that 70 show playing a character in the past.
That intro though,was kinda *SUS* but was very funny.

Omg I loved the runaways and cloak and dagger I was soooo sad when both of them got canceled, everytime I brought them up people either didn't know them or said it was cheesy

Wow, I didn’t think it was that bad. I really liked it. I’m pretty sure they had budget constraints that didn’t allow them to make all the crunchiness they wanted and I can suspend my disbelief for that. Also, Invincible has a lot of animators and anime lovers look at it as subpar compared to animations with higher budgets. I love both of them though.

Honestly, I feel that Jupiter's Legacy is a mixed bag. Aside from the Acid Trip Darkseid and Old Man Glasses Etrigan in the first 2 episodes, the show has a ton of potential.
Yup. You said exactly what I was thinking about it. They just made a animated spin off called "super crooks"and it's really good. They could have saved tons of money and had a better product, if it was animated. It looks exactly like a cw show. I couldn't finish 2 episodes. There's a good indication that a show won't be good, if the special effects are terrible.

when I heard the name "Jupiter's Legacy" I thought it had to do with Roman God Jupiter also known as Zeus in the Greek version
and this was about his many descendants hench the "Legacy" part but I guess 'Zeus' would be more noticeable than "Jupiter"

It's way better than it's source material and is very much worth the watch.

Wassup, love ur stuff as always. I would highly recommend the Netflix Show, Daredevil. Trust me, u will love it. It doesn't even feel like a superhero show, it's that good. Only Season 2 was a letdown. 1 was mindblowing for me and 3 was still really good.

The only thing that kept me watching was the mysteries of the past and their origin, everything in the present I couldn’t of cared about (didn’t help I figured out the true villain from episode ONE!!). 🤷♀️

Should check out The Tick. The cartoon from the 90s. Criminally underrated. The Amazon prime series is alright but since it's been a while since the last superhero movie (mainly marvel) and that's what the live-action version lampoons.

Yea. I agree with you. This show is a mess. The thing that really irritates me about the story is that all of the the conflict in the current timeline, could have been avoided if they had not taken the journey in the past. The whole reason the world is falling apart in the present is the fault of the protagonist. All he had to do, to avoid all this, is do nothing.... which is not a great basis for a story.

The series was solid and good,but some is missing and it feels rush.
I powered through this show recently. I like the story but I wish the visuals were better though. At least the flashbacks were pretty good. It does get a bit better near the end of the season. If they have a season two I hope it gets better, and that it becomes a show with decent special effects, ideally a show with good special effects.

Honestly, one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. I simp for almost every aspect of it, I could see how the animation might put some off but it doesn’t matter, it’s truly a god tier show imo. Like I said I love every aspect but the thing I like the most is the character interactions, just flawless. The way they talk to each other is fantastic, it’s so real you almost feel a part of the group, like you’re a part of the conversation or whatever. The only other place I’ve seen dialogue done that well was The Witcher 3. The people that wrote it and the voice actors should be incredibly proud but don’t get cocky. Man I’m going to go watch it again from the start. I know it’s totally unrelated, but I had to get it off my chest. 😊
My favorite part was when vampire Hitler basically won. It's been headache inducing seeing the arguments people use to defend that part.

lol I never even notices the bad graphics until you pointed it out. I watch a lot of old syfy so I don't generally care much about that stuff unless it is really pointed out. The past stuff how they got their powers was the only part I enjoyed over all. Outside the idea that the new gen super heros are becoming tired with the old rules and just being a hero in general.

I am still upset netflix cancelled I'm not okay with this. It was like a "darker" stranger things.
I think part of the show's problem is timing. For me this comes after The Boys and Invincible. Both those shows blew me away with alot of WTF moments, which Jupiter didn't have.
In the 2nd episode where Flare was talking to her dad and he later thanked Paragon for saving his daughter to me were well done touching moments.
Jupiter’s Legacy was far better a comic than it is in execution as a show. It felt so dull just watching it and like many have said in these comments one of the best segments is when the story goes back in time to talk about the origins of Sampson and the other earlier heroes journey. The entire show just felt clumsy when I know they can do far better. I want to give season 2 a chance once it comes out but they gotta step their game up.
I enjoyed it overall and I didn't have any issues with the special effects though I will admit some of the editing occasionally was odd.
