We aren't really sure if the skull belonged to an actual Troll child. The Trolls of Norway all differ in shapes and sizes. Some with more than one head. There's even a tale about a Troll carrying it's own head.
It is still a sad but necessary means to draw the giant Troll away from the castle.

That was NOT the Norwegian King, that was just one of the people working at the castle showing them the troll skeletons. I would also like to add that the music playing as the second troll breaks out of the cave is "In the hall of the Mountain King" written by Edvard Grieg. A song written for a play, depicting the main character Peer Gynt traversing a large cave where Dovregubben (The Mountain King), a giant troll, is sleeping. It's possible that the troll we see breaking out in the end credits is infact the Troll King, and the troll we saw throughout the movie was the child.

In their first films, it was those monsters alone against humans, but in the following sequels, Godzilla and Gamera were pitched against other gigantic monsters, giving them an anti-hero role. It's a kind of obviously effective way to ensure mining corporations are kept out.
It could have been an opportunity to comment on the destructiveness of corporate involvement in politics to have them finesse a new government into repealing the status of the area as a natural reservation.

Just finished watching this movie. And for a first time in a long, long while, I was pleasantly surprised.
This movie is a breath of fresh wind compaired to current 2022 Marvel / DC / Disney.
It falls a bit short compaired to the monster movies under Ray Harryhausen for originality, but man, was it a solid rewatchable oldschool popcorn movie.
    This one and Trollhunter.
I am so glad that even comming from Scandinavia, they refrained from jumping on the woke wagon and simply brought us a solid (monster) movie.
My personal thanks to the folks making this movie, solid 7/10 vs oldschool monsters and right now 9.5/10 vs woke NETFLIX or amazon prime. (Compaire this with Rings of Power, aka how to butcher Lord of the Rings.)
For those that misunderstood the ending, this is what is called an open ending. Meaning, the door is open for a sequel, but it ain't mandatory, this one can stand on it's own.
For the one describing this movie, two options.
    1. This was not your movie.

    Regarding the dog [not] dying:
I was considering watching *I AM LEGEND* with Will Smith after it was released, DESPITE all its faults.
However, before doing so I asked my daughter -- who had already seen the movie -- if the dog died. She said _"Yes."_
I did NOT watch *I AM LEGEND.*

I watched this with my friends not long ago, and I gotta say...
Alteori, the dubbed version is way more irritating than the subbed version, which we watched. Another example of Americans messing up foreign movies (the people behind it are Norwegian). Of course, one of my friends is also from Norway, so we had him there pointing out what they got right and wrong with the troll stuff (and we were poking fun at it as a group), so that probably also helped.
Though, as for the 'sad melody' mentioned earlier... That wasn't a throwaway that they didn't implement later on. When the troll was slowly being turned into stone at the end by the UV lights, it was howling. That howl was the melody, and it influenced Nora. That's why she changed her mind and turned off the lights. My group and I figure that it only affects women, and that's why the only ones to really get swayed by it were Nora and that elderly woman.

Tough honestly they could have just as well hovered higher up and more over top of him to make it harder for the troll to do anything about it. As in make it harder for it to retaliate.

Came to find this type of review after watching the film. "Good grief"... that's a good way to put it. I think it would have been an amazing film if the had leaned more into the comical side (and with better cast) instead of trying to make it look serious. It had a lot of the tropes E-volution had.

I found this movie to be generic but fun, I bit heavy on the references to other Kaiju movies felt like G98,G14, and Skull Island were mixed together and out came Troll. The effects in the movie were pretty good especially for a Netflix movie and i liked the way they made the Troll sympathetic. Honestly your review kind of seems like your nit picking alot of things in the movie I thought it was pretty fun but not great. Also you should have watched it in it's original language Netflix is garbage at dubbing

When I first saw the trailers to this, I thought it was going to be an expansion of the Monsterverse. Legendary talked about the idea of using mythos from Egyptian, Norse, Greek, and even Native American to expand the Monsterverse. Cerberus, the Wendigo, Jormungandr the World Serpent, and many others. all those stories of monsters are actually recordings of encounters with unknown creatures. monsters left over from Godzilla's era when the Titans were the main species on Earth.
I'm a little disappointed that Troll isn't a Monsterverse movie because it would be nice to see more creatures outside of Godzilla and Kong and further explore the Monsterverse. but I am hearing the movie is good so I'm going to watch it.

I know some people don't like reading subtitles, but it's probably best to watch it in it's native language first then the dub and see what was changed because in that particular scene the prime minister didn't put him down or anything like that, he did say he wasn't qualified to make any kind of a guess and she replied by saying to find someone who is.

If this was for real and you see something like that you would think someone who says it's a giant monster is crazy. The other people aren't being unreasonable, the idea of a troll like those is scientifically ludicrous. Real scientists have a tendency to be nerdy, so they'd be like "haha yeah, it looks like footprints, wonder if it's king kong" and then begin trying to explain it with fact-based explanations.

This movie is a love letter to classic Kaiju movies while being a fun movie on it's own and I love it. Also why are you watching this in dubbed Netflix audio is so terrible when you turned it into English dubbed. You should've watched this in it's original language. 7:36 the troll does it a couple of times during the movie to symbolize how lonely it is. You should've paid more attention to the details. 11:59 it's too established that the troll protects the innocent and only attacks when being attacked. Plus this is a reference to Gamera the giant turtle monster and friend to all children. 12:12 so it can be more affective. 19:13 and this is why you shouldn't watch Kaiju movie's

I wonder if they'll do a cross over movie like with troll hunter from 2010. like war of the gargantuas from 1966 or frankenstein conquers the world 1965 .A trolls human vs dragons would be great or other norwegian fairy tales creatures or airy tales creatures from around the world .i would love to see some truly great horror fairy tales like hellboy gave us a glimpse of fairy tales creatures hopefully they make some good ones soon

I just got done watching it and I had to come over and watch this video. I cried when the troll died. I was definitely hoping that the dog would not die and I knew you were going be concerned about the dog 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I was not surprised about the JP callback. Definitely saw the trope of needing the Dads help and them reconciling and then him dying almost immediately after. I would have liked to have seen the kid say that it scared him but saved him from the helicopter falling on him and maybe the troll isn't that bad or something like that. I definitely felt sad when I saw the bad trolls skull. When the troll saw his baby's skull I became emotional, it was really sad. I would have liked to have given the troll a hug. I would give it either a 4 or a 4.5 star rating, I would see it again and I would recommend it. Trollhunter is next on my list.
