    Really enjoyed your 1st flosstube and looking forward to seeing many more. Karen on The Needlebugg Flosstube has tutorials on how she marks her paper charts for diagonal stitching...of course its an old flisstube but she labels them well and you should be able to find it and she also has recent tutorials on how to use Mark up XP on your IPad. Hope you have a great time going through your wips and digging in Craft room...you will probably run across all kinds of forgotten treasures. Happy Stitching and glad your stitchy bug is coming back

      Thank you, Jodee. I’ll go over and have a look for those tutorials. I get very frustrated with the paper charts because I keep missing symbols so I am grateful for any advice!

    Welcome! There is nothing wrong with working from paper charts! That's how I stitch! I do not need to know how many stitches I've done or etc!
    Gridding: if you are more comfortable with gridding, then use a chalk pencil ( quilters use this as well) Bohin has them. The chalk comes in 2 colors, white and gray. Comes off your fabric easily but makes a great line like a pencil! Just a thought.
    For managing fabric, Amazon has magnetic ties you can get to keep your fabric up and out of the way.

      Thank you so much for the advice, especially for the magnetic ties. I’ve seen a couple of other FlossTubers use them - I’d never seen them before. They could be just the thing. And I’m glad there are other paper chart users out there! I’d be curious about my stitch count, but I have too many paper charts to ever seriously consider switching over.

    The bunny is cute. Can't wait to see which method you like to stitch this piece. I never did a full coverage with blended threads. Very brave. Happy stitching

    Hi, Nancy! It’s very nice to meet you! I really enjoyed both of your videos. I’m not a full-coverage stitcher myself, but I enjoy seeing what others are working on. My condolences on your loss. 💔 I can certainly understand putting The Lady away, and I admire your efforts to work on such a daunting task of all those blended threads. It’s a beautiful piece! I really loved seeing all your Mirabilias in your second video, especially the first one issued. It’s lovely! I look forward to more videos from you! Take care,
    Meline

    Welcome to FlossTube. Great first cross-stitch video! Thank you for sharing your personal story and stitching journey; especially the "Lady and the Unicorn" project. Kudos to you for deciding to pick it up again. You are in good company. I have been working on Design Works' "Kimono Row" (a Joan Elliott design) off and on since the late 1990s. I am hoping to finish and frame it this summer. It has seen me through so many life challenges that I feel like its a personal friend. If you have not heard of him, you may want to take a look at Bryan's Blitstitch's videos. He is one of the masters of diagonal stitching. I look forward to your progress on "Lady" and the parades of your other categories of cross stitch work AND the diamond painting. Take care.

      Thank you for your lovely comment, Jasmine. I will take a look at Bryan. There are so many fabulous FlossTubers out there. I learn something from each and every one of them. I’d love to see your Joan Elliott when it’s done. I love that even 20 year old projects can always get finished one day.

    Fabulous video, Nancy. You are very ambitious. Hoping your cross-stitch plan works out successfully. The project you are focusing on is immense - larger than I would ever try. Good for you! :-D
    P.S. Please do NOT use a FriXion pen on any cross stitch project. Lines can return after appearing to be ironed off.

      Thank you for watching, Laura! Thank you for the encouragement. It’s a bit scary posting up the first time. I’m sure I’m not alone in worrying that maybe I’m just not interesting enough for people to watch. But stitchers are such generous and lovely people. I feel very humbled to be a part of this community.

    Wow! Great first flosstube. You're a braver stitcher than I. That Scarlet Quince piece is so intimidating. I would just gently fold it up and put it in the black hole of my stitchy closet. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you so much for watching and I'll be honest, there have been times I've looked at that piece and wondered whether the closet might be the best place for it! But then I imagine what it would look like finished and I can't bring myself to put it away completely. You never know...one day...

    If you get the chance there’s a fictional account of the weaving of that tapestry. The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier. Well worth the read.

    Congratulations on your new flosstube!
    You can use Markup instead of pattern keeper if you want to try to stitch with an app
    Also, if you can get your hands on Frixion pens you can use them to mark your fabric. They are heat soluble so they disappear when you iron the piece

    • @bohemianstitchery1411
      @bohemianstitchery1411  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your comment, Sonja. I had heard a couple of other FlossTubers mentioning Markup but I didn’t know what it was, so I’ll definitely look into it. I have used Frixion pens for seeing projects so your suggestion is excellent. It will be much better than trying to mark my grid with thread.

      Teresa Little Stitcher uses GoodNotes for PDF patterns I think. Worth checking out as I’m pretty sure she has a tutorial on it. Anyway, loving your work so thanks for taking the time to make a video. We lost my sister to cancer last year - it’s been devastating for the whole family. We’ve just passed the first anniversary of her death, which I marked by starting a full coverage in her honour. I enjoy thinking of her while working on it.

      @@alexandramerrett1623 that’s a wonderful idea. It’s such a cruel disease. Now I’ve pulled out my Lady and Unicorn again, I find it reminds me of my brother too but it doesn’t hurt as much now as it did. My condolences to you and your family. The loss never goes away, but now we remeber brother fondly each year rather than with tears.

    Great first video Nancy and it's lovely to meet you. Welcome to Flosstube!! Love your tapestry WIP and you're much braver than me to tackle a task with that many blended threads. I'm sure it will make for a very beautiful piece however. I have a question regarding the lines in your parking... when you parked your threads as you stitched, did you only park underneath the column as you were stitching, or did you also park to the right? It seems to have been the case for me that when I have only parked at the base of the column that these lines have shown. I believe the parked threads in both directions fill the gaps and therefore remove those lines... but I could be wrong lol. Also Markup R-XP is a similar program to Pattern Keeper and is available on all platforms. You may like to give that a try for your PDF patterns.

    • @bohemianstitchery1411
      @bohemianstitchery1411  Рік тому

      I parked beneath which needed up I the lines. Since then, I’ve just not managed to succeed with parking as I’m too afraid of getting the lines again. I’ve seen your diagonal parking and how you park both beneath and to the side. I’d love it if you could show me how you do it? Maybe one day whe we get the chance to meet in person you could give me a bit of a lesson? I keep chopping and changing techniques with my full coverage but I’ve yet to settle on anything that ‘feels right’.
