    Hello, I too am turning 50 this year but there is no way I am doing 50 starts go you. I am kicking myself that we did not get to talk at the retreat. Loved your video and seeing all your starts. Oh I love that tutorial on project bag making, It is so simple and so effective. My tip for straight lines is investing in a walking foot, also there is a foot call a 1/4 inch foot that a has an edge guide.

    I’m also turning 50 this year (I’m in the 50 for 50 craziness!) and experiencing the same issues. It was genuinely nice to hear that I’m not alone and there can be some relief!

      It’s hard, isn’t it? And why is it something throat rarely gets spoken about. You’re not alone - we can all get though together. Sending my love to you and happiness for your wonderful, 50th year ❤️❤️

    You have made my day pointing that deers head out, I keep chuckling every time I think about it. 😅Super video, I love your enthusiasm for your projects and plans. Re the menopause, try soya isoflavins, they are plant based oestrogen and can help symptoms. I had surgical menopause which came in over night, I have the brain fog and insomnia but after 5 yrs the flushes have really ceased. Thank you for highlighting this ❤

      Thank you so much for watching and thank for for the advice. There are so many options which we just don’t get told about. I’m so glad you’ve got through and come out better and stronger on the other side. ❤️

    Hi I am a new subscriber, I am also turning 50, you are not alone and I was putting all my issues where due to stress and after a chat it was the good old perimenopause. For me it was the inability to fall asleep, That was doing my head in. Wow you are game doing so many new starts.

    Lovely projects, you always make me smile. I’m 51 and everything you mentioned about menopause I’m feeling to, & for me HRT has not been the wonder treatment advertised.

      I’m so sorry it hasn’t worked for you. But this highlights just how different we all are. It is not possible to just assume every woman is the same and so just need this or that. We’re so complex and individual. There needs to be far more research, understanding and open conversation. We shouldn’t have to suffer. I hope you find relief through other means. All my love and support goes out to you ❤️

      Thank you, Kayli! I didn’t get far on my flag last month but that’s ok. It’s a really fun stutch and will probably come out when the stitch games start again. I’m loving the red fabric too but it’s been a challenge to stitch on. But the result is going to be so worth it! Thanks to you and Karla for the encouragement to do UXS29. I’ve been wanting to start Unicorns for ages.

    I use tent stitch for needlepoint and I start in the corner and work diagonally across the canvas. I don't like it for cross stitch. Great projects!
    Headless Harry is looking from his behind to where his head is turning to the right!

      I know. He’s hilarious! When I first spotted it, I started wondering if I could adjust the chart but I decided to embrace him and his bizarre headlessness! I can’t wait to get to that part. I just love the project.
      As for tent stitch, I’ve also used it for needlepoint and I actually have quite a few tapestry and needlepoint kits I’d like to eventually do. I don’t mind it with the thicker thread or even wool. But on 28ct, I am yet to be convinced. It’s definitely looking better the further along a get and there’s no doubt it’s quick, but all my FC new starts are now in full cross. I did start It’s About Time in tent. I think I’ll stick with it though…

    Love your videos and seeing your projects. As for the menopause, I've just turned 58 and when my menopause fully hit, I was in the process of grieving the loss of my dad and then 18 months later of my sister. It took me awhile to ask for help and we found a HRT patch that my allergies and body tolerated. I'm finally having less and less hot flushes and night sweats, I was able to reduced the strength of my HRT last year and hoping to be able to doing it again this year. Which should mean next year I will hopefully be finished. You are not alone and hope we can help you feel that you aren't. Happy stitching and take care. xx💜🤗

      Thank you so, so much for your beautiful comment. What a difficult time you had to go through, made all the worse by the hormone imbalance. I’m so glad you worked your way to a solution and you’re finally coming out the other side. Women are so unbelievably strong and every one of these challenges makes us stronger. That and the fact we have other women there at our backs. I am so grateful for this amazing community.

    Lots of great progess!. I'm turning 50 next year and I'm planning on doing 50 starts, though I might do it from my birthday instead of the 1st. I am struggling with my body not healing as quickly as it used to. It's no fun. I had a hysterecomy about 2 years ago, so I understand. I'm glad you are talking about it, we don't talk about women's health issues enough.

    • @bohemianstitchery1411
      @bohemianstitchery1411  10 місяців тому +1

      Yay for 50 starts! I’ll be cheering along with you the whole way - it’s so much fun! The slower healing is tough. It’s probably the thing I’m finding most difficult, especially as a runner but just in general too. A hysterectomy is huge but luckily nowadays can be done less invasive my from when my Mum had it done. I agree - for some reson, women’s health conversations, especially older women’s health, are taboo. It needs to change. We are still an enormously important part of society. We should be able to get the help and support we need.

    I am supporting everyone turning 50 by also starting at least 50 projects. The fun has begun. My husband is trying to figure out if he has another marathon in him…he is over 60 and very healthy but wow it is hard. I can do water stops and support but cannot run with him. Getting older is hard but hang in there. I am past the flashes and other stuff…thank heavens for stitching for sanity.

      It is hard, but I think with the right mindset we can all still achieve what we’d like. I plan on still running when I’m over 60 - it’ll just be a bit slower! And yes, thank goodness for stitching and this fabulous community. It’s a life saver ❤️

      I really struggled to choose between the cat and the Abbey. I went for the Abbey because I knew my Mum and Dad would love it and there’s even more incentive to at least get 4 pages finished! Thank you so much for watching and I hope your SAL progress is going well.

    I am going to try tent stitch on a 28ct fabric. I tried 1/1 full cross and I couldn't see well enough to do or enjoy it. I'm planning on still doing it 1/1 but I saw an enlightening video by Jean Farish (#115) where she explains the three different methods of tent stitching. I though you might be interested to see this too and maybe it can boost your tent stitch game to make it more pleasurable. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and effort!

      Oh, thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ll definitely go and watch. I’m not very methodical with it. I’ve used tent stitch on needlepoint and was very methodical - in fact I used basketstitch. But it just doesn’t work like that for a HAED - too many colour changes and confetti. But I’ll take any tips where I can because I do live how quickly it goes.

    You are super cute. I so enjoyed your video.
    I absolutely love floss tube and I spend most of my day watching it while I stitch. It's wonderful. That's why I wish I could communicate to all the channels that when they mention someone's name, to pls tell us who they are. They just need to give a small description. For example, if they mention someone named "Fred". Why not say, " Fred, the one I'm doing the so and so stitch-along with me, well he's doing...". Something like that.

      Thank you for watching! And thank you also for the suggestion. I had meant to do my regular shout outs and recommendations but totally forgot in this video! But next time I’m going to do it first up. I’ll also make more effort to explain who people are. I do normally try to link everyone I mention in the description section but sometimes I miss people there too. I’m really happy to get your feedback ❤️

    Hi Nancy, on your Quaker piece, rather than doing all that stitching to determine if you will have enough fabric for it, have you given any thought of just stitching a center grid line horizontally and vertically? It might save you loads of time and at least you’ll be sure that that pattern will fit on your 32c piece of fabric. Your projects are all so pretty, and love all your project bags… well done!

    • @bohemianstitchery1411
      @bohemianstitchery1411  10 місяців тому

      Thank for for the suggestion - that’s great advice. Silly thing is, when I used to teach embroidery, I always encouraged my students to carefully find the centre and edges with a tacked line over 4 and under 4 (or 5 or whatever). And do you know, it’s been so long since I’ve taught I totally forgot my own advice! Thank you so much for the reminder - it’s a brilliant idea.

      @@bohemianstitchery1411 Glad I could help. I know gridding is tedious and time consuming, but in the end, it’s worth it. I usually will grid by going over four and under four. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your next flosstube video.

    Just found your channel and I love your upbeat attitude and the projects that you're working on. You mentioned in one segment that you were stitching on linen from JK that you absolutely loved. I normally don't stitch on linen so I know nothing about it. I would appreciate any information you could pass along like the name of it, and what is JK? Anyway, I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to watching more videos from you.

      JKs Cross Stitch is a LNS here in Australia. Although it but exactly ‘L’ (local) to me. We don’t have any LNSs here in Adelaide. She’s based in New South Wales and she has one of the best ranges of fabrics, threads and kits anywhere in Australia in my opinion. She’s one of the go-to stores for Australian cross stitchers. I’m not sure where you are based, but if you are in Australia, I can’t recommend her highly enough. I’m not sure she ships overseas though?
      Thank you so much for watching and happy stitching ❤
