You can absolutely grow many plants in your relative humidity of your home or with very little humidity in general. Some plants are need that extra humidity but if you’re looking to increase humidity for longer than a few seconds, ditch those pebble trays and the daily misting. A reminder that it’s ok to have and only purchase plants that will do well in your home’s conditions versus the other way around.
Hey! How do you prevent mold from growing on your walls when you have plants that need humidity over the "mold free" percentage? I am worried about using my humidifier a lot, and it resulting in mold!
I truly belive in only growing plants that want to be in your home! I'm not loving all the plastic products that are required, including ordering plants online and all the packaging it comes in. I don't even have plant lights, only natural light. No humidifiers, just natural air, like how it's supposed to.
can you do a video on calatheas? I love them so much but they will only live in my gecko's terrariums. I've been told the problem is humidity and told to spray them but like you are saying here it doesn’t help. considering trying a cloche also OMG I JUST REALIZED YOU HAVE ALL THE LEGO PLANTS I HAVE 👀 have you gotten the tiny plants yet?! AHHH omg you're awesome haha
I love the last point and it has helped me to let go of some plants…maybe some plants don’t belong in your home. Most wisdom I’ve heard about plants in a long time 😂 thank you!
Yup, this mentality is what helped me let go of my jades. I just don't have the right environment for them. They all get moldy, no matter what I do. I do exactly what I'm suppose to and they just 💀 after my 6th try I finally just said, you know what? Jades aren't for me and my basement apartment.
SO true Krystal!! I've tried pebble trays, misting and they don't work!! I got tired of refilling the humidifier, and the only two things that work for me are keeping all of my humidity-loving plants in my indoor plastic covered greenhouses and also cloches!! ❤
I‘ve learned to live with my Calathea Zebrina being a drama queen. It was liberating, accepting those crispy leaves ever once in a while. It just means more space for new growth 🤓
girl im in shock i live in florida so we have orchids everywhere, inside outside on trees etc. Idk HOW but they all are in sync and started blooming im so shocked how my plants from indoors bloomed without even knowing the outside climate!!
I always feel like I'm hot boxing my humid plants. Like they are having a lot more fun then me. lol Also, low key, been watching you for years but today.. you looking super fly. And your always looking fly.
I love humidifiers! Tucson air is dry so they're good for plants, pets, and people! And I don't have to keep my plants in a cabinet 😊 You're constantly putting out excellent content; you teach us while making us laugh! Thank you 💚
Dang girl, lookin good!! Gettin all dressed up for this video for us!!! You are so beautiful though for real 😍🥰 You are so right, though I had to give up on a plant before. 🪴
My plants like the misting but buying a swamp style humidifier changed their and my health immensely! Yup go for swamp style humidifiers, the ultra sonic ones look like they do a lot but in my house they did nothing but cover everything in a weird white dust.
Your hair looks gorgeous And the last point really resonated with me My plants are stressing me out lately, and I always felt at peace tending to my plants. That's the way I want to feel about them
I went and bought a humidifier for my plants, plugged it in had it go in for the day. The humidity in the room did not go up at all . I left it running for 24 hours. Not only did the humidity in the room not go up, but the puddle that the humidifier created just from its mist ruined my floor
I bought a cheap tabletop sized greenhouse tent. My apartment air was too drafty for the humidifiers to keep up, but the zipper top tent has allowed them to thrive. I still mist them.
Quick tip about putting a clear cover over your plant, make sure you poke holes into it or open it occasionally! Airflow is pretty important to prevent mold, especially if there's seedlings. The mold can choke out and kill the seeds really easily. But if it's an established plant it shouldn't do much harm
My relative humidity in my home is rarely lower than 60, which sounds like it’s great for my plants (it is ) But my god the mould that grows on my ceilings and needs cleaning is not good for me , I never thought I’d long for lower humidity.
I just cram it into my tiny closet sized bathroom with the rest of the parched plants 🤣 they get humidified every night, that room would be lucky to dry out. I spray them with the mist bottle for my hair, but the top layer of the soil. Like I have a few ferns that like to keep their fuzzy roots moist. I’ve noticed a difference.
FISHTANKS!!! My two fish tanks add a ton of humidity to my dry desert air. Definitely only get a fish tank if you’re committed to their care and the larger the tank the better the effect 😉
My plants actually do very well on pebble trays. They are in an open space, but our home was renovated and an office and mudroom were added. The mudroom is like a 10'x10' foot grow cabinet 🤣 It doesn't have an air vent so I keep a small heater in there during the cold months and then in the summer it stays very warm. Long story short, (or long story long actually 😂) THAT is why my pebble trays work in my open space.
I try and tell people these methods do t work but they don't believe it because to many people are saying it helps. 😒 So yes thank you for saying this. 💚
I got a greenhouse from menards for 20 dollars. It does amazing for humidity, especially because I use the bottom for strictly water trays with leca and a fan for fresh airflow, keep the zipper cracked.
I did a test in a small room with buckets of water and pebble trays, and it took over 6 trays and 9 buckets of water to increase humidity by 2 percent! Lol Definitely need a greenhouse effect to create more or the humidifier! Lol 😅
I spray a couple times a week and turn on the heat just for them since it’s cold 😂😂 now my plants have their own space heater 😅💀 surprisingly put out a LOT of new leaves this winter I’m proud
Just having more plants also increases humidity. More water containing media/reservoirs means more evaporation, means more humidity. 1 plant doesn't do much. 100 plants on little space does a lot.
Pebble trays are heavily touted online as a “humidity booster”. After many months of pointless pebble trays, they don’t work. Cloches are great though. 😊
A lot of plants can aclimatize to ambient humidity too. I keep my queen anthurium in my bedroom where humidity ranges between 50-65 . If you are prepared to wait out the crusty stage, many will surprise you 😂
Hmm i'd have to disagree with you about the cup of water full of leca, it does provide humidity localy around the plant. Sometimes it's enought to make it trive
Any suggestions on what I can do with all these pebbles? 😅… because yeah I thought it would help humidity around the plant but you’re right it just attracts pests, ugh. The humidifier is the way to go in winter… in summer where I live (FL) we actually need dehumidifiers bc it’s a sauna 🧖♀️ even with the AC on. But now I have a ton of aquarium pebbles … can I put them on the top of the pots? Or should I not do that - wondering if it would help reduce fungus gnats or if it would impede the plants growing new shoots, etc.
Or just live in Florida 😂 I have all my Anthuriums and some philos in my bedroom right now and my humidity is running between 75 to 80 right now 🥵 but it's so worth it. Everything is popping with new growth
Aquariums are the answer - put an aquarium on every available surface and grow beautiful aquatic gardens that give your terrestrial plants humidity. I have 14 fish tanks :)
Lol if the humidity in my house isn't around 40% I'm itchy af.. if it gets under 30% my throat gets scratchy....under 25% and I'm waking up with a nosebleed for sure
plant friends, if i get a humidifier for my plants do i leave it on all day or do they only need it for a little bit? and is it bad for my plants that don't need humidity?

@@thebonniewong I completely agree with you! But there is a dream plant of mine available for sale, and I am trying to prepare for getting it! 🤣
But but but. If we can grow banana trees indoor in Iceland I'm VERY optimistic I'll be able to grow any plant with tour advices and pepp! 😅
can you do a video on calatheas? I love them so much but they will only live in my gecko's terrariums. Finally someone said it! This is info every plant parent needs, thank you 🌱
You my kind of people
Wow you are looking beautiful. I mean extra beautiful
Your hair looks beautiful curled ❤
I love curls 🥰
I‘ve learned to live with my Calathea Zebrina being a drama queen. It was liberating, accepting those crispy leaves ever once in a while. It just means more space for new growth 🤓
It’s always the Calatheas 😂 I just bought a humidifier because I couldn’t stand to see any more brown edges
girl im in shock i live in florida so we have orchids everywhere, inside outside on trees etc. Idk HOW but they all are in sync and started blooming im so shocked how my plants from indoors bloomed without even knowing the outside climate!!
Girl you looking extra beautiful today!
It’s the curly hair 😍
I always feel like I'm hot boxing my humid plants. Like they are having a lot more fun then me. lol Also, low key, been watching you for years but today.. you looking super fly. And your always looking fly.
I love the lego plants on top of your cabinet. Probably the only plants I could keep green and pretty, leggo plants.🤣
I mean they’re pretty awesome to have though 😂🫶🏽
Forget about these plants, you look extra beautiful today 😍!
I love humidifiers! Tucson air is dry so they're good for plants, pets, and people! And I don't have to keep my plants in a cabinet 😊
You're constantly putting out excellent content; you teach us while making us laugh! Thank you 💚
It's not what I want to hear but it's what I need to hear. Thank you Krystal
Perfect! Just perfect! I saw your instagram story and you got a dollar tree cloche! What area of the store did you find it? Garden? Kitchen?
They are in the garden section, near the pots.❤
Krystal that outfit and your hair compliments your beauty so much! Blue is your color. Who agrees?😊
Dang girl, lookin good!!
Gettin all dressed up for this video for us!!! You are so beautiful though for real 😍🥰
You are so right, though I had to give up on a plant before. 🪴
Thank you so much 🥹🫶🏽
i tried doing the milsbo cabinet following ur tutorial and the most expensive thing was the acrylic shelves😭
My plants like the misting but buying a swamp style humidifier changed their and my health immensely! Yup go for swamp style humidifiers, the ultra sonic ones look like they do a lot but in my house they did nothing but cover everything in a weird white dust.

My plants are stressing me out lately, and I always felt at peace tending to my plants. That's the way I want to feel about them
Love the curly hair, girl!
Great ideas and advise! What was the little box you showed as a terrarium? It looked so nice!
Those are display cases that can be used as terrariums. If you have a Daiso near you, they have some like it (though not exact) too.
@@mwatson4970 Thank you!

My care level for humidity completely disappeared when I noticed how loverly your hair looks with curls, lol.
I bought a cheap tabletop sized greenhouse tent. My apartment air was too drafty for the humidifiers to keep up, but the zipper top tent has allowed them to thrive. I still mist them.
Facts
Where did you get the clear box you used for your terrarium? Love that!
love the look❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much! That last line is perfection

Oooh I’d love a terrarium tutorial! I have a soldering iron and boxes with lids let’s rock 😂😂
My relative humidity in my home is rarely lower than 60, which sounds like it’s great for my plants (it is )
But my god the mould that grows on my ceilings and needs cleaning is not good for me , I never thought I’d long for lower humidity.
60% is pretty low where im from i think your issue is airflow.
Sitting in my office with a humidifier, heater, grow light, and somehow not having terrible SAD this year...😎 oh hey, nice.
spraying plants daily can cause limescale to develop or wtv its called.
Your hair looks amazing!
I LOVE YOUR HAIR DOWN! ❤😍
I love knowing that someone else keeps their lego plants with their real plants
I just cram it into my tiny closet sized bathroom with the rest of the parched plants 🤣 they get humidified every night, that room would be lucky to dry out. I spray them with the mist bottle for my hair, but the top layer of the soil. Like I have a few ferns that like to keep their fuzzy roots moist. I’ve noticed a difference.
My apartment is so humid, that I have rarely had to water them since December. Now i have to use a dehumidifier. But the plants are thriving.
FISHTANKS!!! My two fish tanks add a ton of humidity to my dry desert air. Definitely only get a fish tank if you’re committed to their care and the larger the tank the better the effect 😉
You know I did not even think about using my humidifier to create more humidity for my peace lily. Thank you so much for mentioning that
My plants live in a large fish tank, covered with plastic wrap, with a humidifier. I turn it on every other day or so. Plants are happy!
Okay, but your hair is super cute!
Thank you so so much!!!! 🥹

I got a greenhouse from menards for 20 dollars. It does amazing for humidity, especially because I use the bottom for strictly water trays with leca and a fan for fresh airflow, keep the zipper cracked.
Heck yes! That’s a steal!
As someone with a ppp that at one point was a foot away from a fish tank, some plants really just pick and choose if they like you lol
I feel this 🙌🏽😂
preach!! 🙌
I've been running humidifiers 24 hours a day in small bedrooms, only to barely keep up 50% humidity during the winter. I aim for 70%.
Pebble trays under ferns absolutely make a difference hun
💯💯💯
So pretty ❤🌹😁
So true!
My plants love my porch where the back of the ac is. The heat and humidity has made my girls bloooom
I hear that, I realized my place was just not the place for a plant that needs humidity
Krystal vivo en Panamá y verás aquí estamos en una zona húmeda/tropical. Ahora mismo estamos en temporada seca (verano) y la humedad está al 50%

Me slowly coming to realize my cat palm might just hate my house
I did a test in a small room with buckets of water and pebble trays, and it took over 6 trays and 9 buckets of water to increase humidity by 2 percent! Lol

Yes! So glad you tested the theory yourself!
❤😊
I spray a couple times a week and turn on the heat just for them since it’s cold 😂😂 now my plants have their own space heater 😅💀 surprisingly put out a LOT of new leaves this winter I’m proud
This is a lesson that took me about 5 maidenhair ferns to learn 😅
I was thinking that, exactly. I live in AZ and how can I get a lot of humidity..?
You are brilliant.❤
Just having more plants also increases humidity. More water containing media/reservoirs means more evaporation, means more humidity. 1 plant doesn't do much. 100 plants on little space does a lot.
And I think that's a great solution😆
Girl. I LOVE tropical plants but live in AZ. I need a massive grow room 😭
Or placing in bathroom every day shower plants happy and me. The bathroom looks amazing with natural plants in it 😅
I live in North Carolina and girl WE HAVE SOME HUMIDITY NOW! 😂
I like pebble trays because they keep me, a chronic over-waterer, from overwatering. 💦
I’ve heard laying a humid towel on a heater helps with creating humidity.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I usually just keep them in the kitchen, with all the water I boil for pasta there's always plenty of humidity in the air.
What cabinet are you using? I'm realizing I need something like that. 😂
Kind of off topic but my god you are beautiful 😍
What is that beautiful monstera handle cabinet and where can I get one 😍😍
I live in india south east india to be precise . The last thing i worry about is less moisture. Its usually 60 % or above
Pebble trays are heavily touted online as a “humidity booster”. After many months of pointless pebble trays, they don’t work. Cloches are great though. 😊

Guess I’ll be removing the pebble trays and taking my baking dishes back🤪
How about for outdoor plants?
How would you care for Cuban Oregano?? Mine has small leaves and stays thin and small
Or just live in Florida 😂 I have all my Anthuriums and some philos in my bedroom right now and my humidity is running between 75 to 80 right now 🥵 but it's so worth it. Everything is popping with new growth
Plant mama/whisper I need your knowledge and advice on a plant 🌿
I saw someone who had an essential oil diffuser in their glass terrarium, but added no essential oils! Takes up less room.
Yes! That’s perfect too!
I use a large glass cookie jar.
You know what else helps my humidity. 4 fish tanks!
Aquariums are the answer - put an aquarium on every available surface and grow beautiful aquatic gardens that give your terrestrial plants humidity.
I have 14 fish tanks :)
Okay i thought pebble trays helped. Going to buy a humidifier now for my alocasias and lipstick plant!
Misting is a good way to deter pests .
This is true 😢
Lol if the humidity in my house isn't around 40% I'm itchy af.. if it gets under 30% my throat gets scratchy....under 25% and I'm waking up with a nosebleed for sure
amen❤😂😂
plant friends, if i get a humidifier for my plants do i leave it on all day or do they only need it for a little bit? and is it bad for my plants that don't need humidity?
Why I stick with cactuses 99% of the time.
& why I have 1 bird of paradise that I cry when it I see new growth on her.
Where do you buy your plastic cloches?
Here’s the link from Amazon: amzn.to/3SUVp2E
Does misting do anything at all to help plants or is it just useless? Cause I've been doing it and I don't wanna look like a fool😂😂
There’s a lot of comments, but does anybody know how to know if your plant needs humidity?
So true! It's Darwin's Law with my plants! There are calathea I wish loved me back!
