Still looking for a base place here in Manila, Today I went to meet with Lay and of course we ended up eating two dinners, First we ate in the famous Filing station and later when we arrived home we went for a late night Lugaw snack.

Time and motion, depending on your budget better to be central. Purely because the traffic is terrible ..numerous places to stay. If it was myself ..I’d be in the heart of BGC, but it’s expensive ..Taguig is a nice location and relatively cheap..ya want cheaper say Mandaluyong. It’s lovely seeing a new couple …enjoy.😊

I was at the Fillin last September took a friend a mine to dinner damn it almost cost me 100 dollars for 2 people. Over priced. Plus the food wasn’t even that good.

I have done my time living in Asian cities, and I appreciate all the conveniences and such and don't mind staying from time to time. However I love living in the countryside or province in Asia as you call in PH. Can always go travelling if you get bored. Funny how the food is similar round Asia; that rice porridge is called jok in Thailand and congee in other places.

What a contrast between those 2 restaurants, personally I would go for the authentic Filipino experience and for a small fraction of the cost! The first restaurant seemed to be just American food with American pricing. My choice, take her travelling to Brazil! I went years ago and its one place I would love to return.

I think Ermita is one of the go-to. Not far from the NAIA airport, makati or devisoria if you want more crazy adventure. It's not Push as makati, but it's not bad either.

That is the LRT. Took the MRT and it was 15 pesos from Taft to Ayala. It was very quick! Watching you2 eat and I’m on IF 😂Fish n chips with tartar sauce 💙
Look up Pasig, Cainta, Marikina and Antipolo. I lived in a village in Pasig during the construction of my house. I walked from where I lived to Robinson’s East mall. It’s conveniently located nearby the LRT-2 especially now that there is the new Pasig/Marikina Station. Then you can easily take the MRT from Cubao to Taft. Idk how much your budget is? Hope you find a place…good luck.

I always stay on the edge of Mandaluyong In Greenfield District. You get a lot more for your money here if you find somewhere in like Soho Central (my preference) or next door in Twin Oaks. You literally turn left from the apartments and Shaw Boulevard MRT is 100 m away or 50 m away, you can walk past the police station, which is under the flyover and straight into Shangri-La plaza shopping centre, go through Shangri-La Plaza, and you’re literally at megamall, go to the other side of megamall, cross the street and you’re in podium. Turn right out of the apartments and walk about 15 minutes and you are in capital Commons with Estancia mall just behind the apartments in Greenfield they have a weekend food market, several bars and a food truck park with live music. It’s pretty close to Makati about 15/20 minutes by car 10 minutes by motorbike. There are plenty of jeepneys on your doorstep. Or I have seen 2 uk bloggers walk from Makati to Greenfield district. I think you should check it out. Good Luck.

That portion of the Filling station on the corner use to be another bar called Dimples and next it was a very small apartelle wih 4 rooms called Inn Suites that the entrance was situated between Dimples bar and Bottoms Bar. That was also the main entrance at the time to the Filling Station located only on the second floor in the day.😂
That was back in 1999 and i was absent from the Philippines until 2019 when i came back to meet my Chai 5 yrs ago

I love Manila. It maybe overcrowded and alot of traffic but that fits me perfectly. Manila use to be so different in 1980 and the food stalls were exotic... Snake .Dog monkey.. lizard.. frog all were type of BBQ..I know it changed alot but I love the excitement of the city
