  • Oscar Piastri wins Hungarian GP amid controversy with Lando Norris
    -----------------------------------
The Hungarian Grand Prix left a lot to talk about, with Oscar Piastri taking victory in a race that was full of controversy. McLaren's Australian driver took his first Formula 1 victory, but the road to the podium was not without debate.
The controversy was sparked when McLaren ordered Lando Norris to let Piastri pass, allowing the Australian to take his first win in the category. Although Norris was initially reluctant to comply with the order and expressed his displeasure over the radio, he finally relented after several attempts by Piastri and a tense exchange on team communications. McLaren's decision allowed Piastri to secure first place, while Norris settled for second, dropping seven points that could be crucial at the end of the season, especially if Max Verstappen continues to lose ground in the standings.
Piastri did not hide his excitement after the race: “This is the day I dreamed of as a kid, to be on top of the Formula 1 podium.” However, the victory left a bittersweet taste for Norris, who, although he started from pole position, had to give up his place to his teammate.
Third place went to Lewis Hamilton, who achieved his 200th podium with a Mercedes that showed no weaknesses before his switch to Ferrari. However, Hamilton also experienced some intense moments on the track. In one turn, he was involved in a collision with Max Verstappen, who was trying to overtake him. The incident resulted in a fly-by for the Dutch driver, who finished a disappointing fifth, just behind Charles Leclerc, who took fourth place.
With these results, Verstappen still leads the standings with 265 points, while Norris is in second place with 189 points. Leclerc is third with 162 points, followed by Carlos Sainz with 154, Piastri with 149 and Hamilton with 125.
Formula 1 now prepares for the next race at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium next weekend.
