Great video Matthew. Glad to see the #DUKE10 Banjolele safely in your hands (finally!) Sad that they are now sold out :-(

Hi Mathew. Thanks for a really comprehensive review of the Banjolele. I've just bought one and I was wondering if I could tune it to my guitar ie D G B E to obviate the need to remember different chord shapes for each instrument? (I already have my uke tuned to my guitar and it seems to sound OK although very quiet!)

You can get baritone ukulele strings, which are designed to be tuned to DGBE, whereas normal uke strings designed for GCEA will probably be quite quiet and lose when tuned down that low.

I think most of the modern banjoleles does not have tonering, but the old ones have a brass or metal tonering, so the tone is sharper and more suitable for jazz music.

Honza F. A lot of banjo ukuleles I feel nowadays are made to sound like Ukulele’s whereas they used to sound closer to banjos. Either way they all contribute to a distinct banjolele sound which is good for jazz, bluegrass and more

    Is the Abbot much heavier?

The Abbot is certainly heavy, though it's not the heaviest banjolele I've played by far

Can I tune a banjolele to a Baritone uke eg DGBE?

I believe there are a few examples of baritone banjoleles. Or you can turn tenor banjos to Chicago tuning which is DGBE.

I would imagine that there is one out there somewhere, though I've yet to see it
