Aklot Banjolele Review

- Hi gang….after being so impressed with my Electro Acoustic Aklot Tenor Ukulele ( AKET26 ) that I bought and reviewed 5 months ago ( see below link ) I loved the idea of adding another Banjolele to my collection. My present ones ( a Savannah and George Formby Dallas B ) are both great instruments and sound good when tuned…the problem is that with them being 100 years and 80 years old respectively they are very difficult to keep in tune….made more difficult with them having friction tuners…they do require a lot of attention…also the intonation
was poor after 7th fret….all this made playing them a challenge. So…I’d been looking at the Aklot Banjolele for quite some time as the open gear tuners would make tuning much easier and watching the reviews they all seemed very positive. The Banjolele became available for £77.99 from their usual price of £99.99…even at the higher price they are really terrific value for money…but at £77.99 it became a no brainier purchase.
The Banjolele was delivered very quickly and has surpassed all my expectations….like the Aklot Tenor I’m just totally blown away with the look, design and the amazing sound…this coupled with all the many many extras left me asking how Aklot can sell them so cheaply?…..anyways…I can’t find any faults with any aspect of it and felt I had to let others know that they should consider having one in their own collection. As I stated on the video, I am not sponsored by Aklot nor have I ever been approached by them to make this video…it’s just that I feel that a company that provides such great sounding, great looking & great value instruments should be recognised.
I hope you have found this review useful but do please let me know your thoughts and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have.

Graham & Roz 😘😍💕🎶
Excellent review. Thank you for posting.
Thanks Robert....such a great instrument...❤️💕🎵🎶👍🪕😊
What a nice guy you are! Thanks for the great review. I'm in Canada and will be receiving my Aklot Banjo Ukulele tomorrow. I can hardly wait. I look forward to watching your other reviews. Great job!
Thanks so much Corrie for your kind words and in sure you'll really enjoy your Aklot banjolele ...I love mine...👍😊🥰❤️🎶🎵💕
Nice review Graham. I own a similar one and enjoy it because of the different sound. I carry a chunk of foam weatherstripping to stuff between the truss rod and the skin, so that when I play with a group, I am not so loud. Have fun and keep spreading the joy.
Thanks Bob...I know ukulele bands that won't allow members to play them and the foam sounds a good idea but the sound is so different and fits so many songs better than a uke does ...sending all my best wishes...👍😊🎵🎶
Good review. I know what I fancy for Christmas now. 👍
Thanks matey....it's a fantastic instrument and such an unbelievable low cost...not sure how they produce them for this price....do get one and let me know what you think....👍🎵🎶💕
Thanks Graham. This is very useful. I'm a great fan of George Formby and Tessie O'Shea. They inspired me to pick up the uke. This seems really good value. All best.
Thanks Lisa...it's a beautiful instrument and sounds great and brilliant value for money...I'm sure you'd have great fun with it of you ever get one...sending you our love...💕🎶🎵🪕😊
Just ordered one on eBay, I’m glad I have now, great review
You won't be disappointed...they are great...👍💕🎵🎶
Great review 👍👍👍
Thank you so much Kevin....thought I had to put a review out for this remarkable instrument ..so pleased you enjoyed it...👍😊💕🎵🎶
Great review! I agree 100% on Aklot value. My Aklot tenor has been very good to me for almost three years. The banjolele looks like a fun and tempting instrument. I don't get why they would bundle in a flamed strap with such on old timey instrument. The logo's a bit of a shock too. It looks like the logo for a metal band.
See where you're coming from but I think they are maybe trying to bring the Banjolele into the 21st century and make them look more cool for players?....not sure really but I love the logo and the strap...and everything else about it but everyone has different tastes....💕❤️🎶🎵🪕
Agree at least pick another color to match the Uke My only disappointment
My great grandmother played banjo. I've considered one of these since I love my Aklot concert.
Aklot has a new brand, Horse. I'm considering their baritone at present. It's on sale on Amazon and comes with great accessories.
I'd definitely get one Ellen they are super and thanks for the info on the Horse brand...I'll go check it out...👍😊💕🎵🎶❤️
Thanks for this I was wondering what they were like and how they sounded.
It's a great little instrument...👍😊💕🎶🎵
Hi Graham, really enjoy your reviews. Nice addition. Another instrument you should try is the Canadian made Seagull Merlin. Another 4 chord instrument. It is so much fun, comes in 2 versions. Also Seagull and Godin have beautiful electric ukuleles. Beautiful and solid made instruments
Already have one Anton as one was given to us by a friend...Roz loves it..very unusual sound...👍💕🎶🎵
I love it too. The 2 ukes from Seagull and Godin are great too
Great review, thanks for posting. I just bought a similar banjolele made by Kmise. It comes with all the accessories as yours but the differences are mine is closed back and has no arm rest as per yours. I'm itching for it to arrive so I can start strumming. BTW, mine cost £109 from Amazon (Sep 2023).
Hi Jay....I'm sure you'll be over moon with your banjolele...Kmise is a good brand and I've read good reviews about them and what a good price as well .....have fun and please let me know if you put a post up playing it.....sending you our love..👍💕🎵🎶🥰
Hi Graham been thinking of investing in one of these for sometime now can't see how they manage to sell this with all the extra,s and make a profit thanks for making and sharing the video very helpful 😀
Thanks Rob ...I don't know how they make anything on them....they are terrific value for money but also look and sound amazing and the build quality looks good to me...hope you get one...you won't be disappointed ...👍😊🎵🎶🪕
Thanks for the review. In the banjo world, the "truss rod" as you describe it is called a coordinator rod.
Thanks for the info...👍🎶🎵
That Alkot is very similar to the Magic Gold banjo ukulele I bought off Amazon a couple of months ago. Like, these 2 uku's could be twins 😂.
Anyway, thank you for teaching me how to use that tuner they send with it. I though it was a piece of junk and I was going to buy another one. Now I don't have to use the tuner app on my phone anymore ... Or buy one.
So pleased that my video was useful for you...👍🥰🎵🎶
Hi Graham . Bought one of these after your review. Excellent piece of kit . I convinced one our ukulele club members to buy one. Last night she asked me how to install the strap and pickup . Strap no problem but any idea how to install pickup please ? Can't seem to find any details. Might help others with same question. Happy Easter to you and yours . Enjoy your Friday singalongs . All the best from an expat mackem .
Hi....so pleased you got one...mine didn't come with a pick up and to be honest it's loud enough without one so I wouldn't worry....sending you our love....and have a great Easter...👍🎶🎵💕🥰
Hallo Graham, today my aklot banjolele is coming and I very glad. Thanks for the tutorial, I have ordert 👍🙂 ant its very nice 🙃 but what I play with them, now 🤔 perhaps you can make more tutorials for the banjolele, please. Love greetings from Germany
Hi Djuna....I hope you enjoy your banjolele as much as I do mine....as it's strung the same as a standard ukulele ( GCEA ) you can play all songs on them....but...I tend to use mine for older music or country music...a good song is Wagon Wheel which we have covered here on UA-cam and the music is via the link below...

I'm sure we'll be putting out more posts which includes the banjolele...sending you our love..👍🙂💕🎵🎶❤️🪕
@@EagleUkes Thank you Graham for the link. Yes I woud like country music and blue grass with banjolele 🙂🤙
I have both too I always tune to C not Uc
A wonderful review Graham! I play a little openback banjo, and I've been considering getting a Banjolele. This one looks and sounds like an amazing buy. Thanks for sharing! If you don't mind me asking, are you Scottish? My Grandmother's Grandfather came from Scotland in the 1800's. His last name was McEwen.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment...I'm not Scottish but was born and bred in the North East of England...👍💕🙂
Very nice. Just need to get it in without my wife finding out. Thanks!
I'm sure you'll manage to get one Neil....such a brilliant instrument...🎶🎵💕👍
Great review totally agree with you about Aklot ukuleles, brilliant value. I have Aklot addiction I bought the Mahogany tenor then followed by a tenor bamboo cutaway and concert mahogany which is my favourite ukulele (wish I bought the electro version). Kmise is Alloys sister company and I bought their Banjo uke (love that too) when I bought it the Aklot was £99 and the Kmise was £64. Please don't review any more Aklots as it will cost me more money 😂. ATB.
Had a laugh at your point about buying more Ukes etc...I have far too many but have calmed things down a lot over the last few years...just wished I'd dis overed Aklot sooner as it would have probably saved me cash on buying other instruments ....sending you all me best wishes and carry on strumming ..👍💕🎶🎵🪕
@@EagleUkes my neighbours have never said "carry on strumming" 😂
@@50mantravelling52 ...neither have mine funnily enough...😂😂🤣😂💕
Hi Graham. I love these banjolele's but I see the Aklot only comes in concert size. Can you advise if the fret board is definitely concert size or does it happen to have a bit more spacing than a normal concert ukulele. How long is it from the nut to the 12th fret? thanks
Hi matey.....the fretboard is concert size so not quite as roomy as my Aklot Tenor Uke but I find there's plenty of space for me. Distance from nut to 12 fret is 7 1/2" or 19cm.
I'm sure Amazon have a free returns service so if it's not for you then send it back....I love mine...😊👍🎵🎶
@@EagleUkes Thank you for getting back to me Graham. Appreciated.
Almost made me buy it but then I thought it would be just one more instrument to pack up and move! So I'm holding off for the moment.
Well worth the extra luggage space Sue ..it's a fantastic instrument...👍😊💕🎶🎵
I am wondering, Do you use regular ukulele strings or are they special banjo strings on the aklot banjolele?
Hi Clyde...they are just normal concert aquila strings but you could fit any other normal uke strings as it's tuned to GCEA...so if you can play a uke you can play this banjolele...😊🎶🎵hope this helps...💕
I think the setting on your tuner uk-d is for Baritone Ukulele. C is chromatic, B is Banjo,, and G is guitar.
Thanks so much for the info Jim...that seems to make sense..👍🪕🎵🎶💕
How much do these weigh Graham?
Great question Dee...I've just mine on my normal scales at it reads just under 2.5 pounds....so ...it is heavier than a normal uke but it comes with a really good wide strap that I always use when playing standing up....hope this helps...👍🪕🥰🎶🎵😊
