You down grade the a400 for things that can be adjusted with stock spacers and the shim kit for drop. The a400 shooting high means not enough drop - for you. That is why it hit your cheek too hard. You can easily add a different shim and give it more drop and more or less LOP to make it mount better. Sounds like the browning was just lucky that it fit you correctly out of the box. The beretta can easily be made to fit you or anyone, easily.
Good points. You certainly can change felt recoil some through the available adjustments. Thank you for the comment 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Isn't this dude sponsored by Winchester who is joined at the proverbial hip with Browning. Here in North Texas we have seen several Browning's ceracoat scrape off and the steel rust. Add to the price of the Browning's stock fit that a gunsmith would charge to cut and refit. The only negative that is legit on the A400 is the weight.
Greetings from Colorado! I have 3 Beretta Xtremes in the family plus the A400 plus. No issues, between the 4 guns, we have fired thousands of rounds through them. Not one issue. With Browning firearms, I have always had problems. I have a Citori O/U, 3.5 chamber, trigger issues, I have a Browning Gold, trigger and jamming issues. I may have pointed this out to Steve in another video. I will never buy a Browning.............even if it's given to me for FREE
A handy feature that you missed mentioning in this video as well as the in depth video on the A400 is the unloading. Much safer. Rack the shell out of the chamber and then lift the loading shelf and pull out on the bolt release. Very handy in tight quarters and as I mentioned safer. Nonetheless great videos! Adjust that beretta with the shims and you'll be in love. I had a original maxus in the past and the failures to eject had me fed up and out buying the A400 xtreme plus.
You can pull the rounds out of the mag tube on the maxus very easy by pushing up the lifter and then hitting the side catch for the rounds in the mag and then remove the round from chamber. At least that’s what I do.
Great job. Browning seems great in a lot of ways. Reliability is huge though. In the rice fields and marsh of south Louisiana I see way more Benellis and Berettas than anything else. I shoot a Beretta 3901. It is super reliable.
I’ve been hunting with my original maxus for over 10 years now. Dunked in the marsh a few times. Thousands of rounds while hunting and at clays, not once has it failed me. And I can count on one hand how many times it’s had problem with ammo. Twice with bum reloads, once from a factory target load that had a bad/ out of round crimp and it failed to chamber.
Not gonna lie, I love your videos, been watching you and your brother for a while but I felt like this was a video about shilling for browning. I don't mind you saying you prefer the browning but I'd have liked to see more reasons why each gun would work for more than just you (ie, the drop of the Beretta stock is better suited for cold weather shooting so the gun doesn't have to be as high up on your shoulder, I didn't see things like that, I felt like there was more reasons given for the outside shooter to choose the browning). That's just the impression I got, but I still give it a thumbs up because I like that someone is at least taking the time to do comparison videos and spend as much time as you did doing this video, and I'll keep watching your guys' videos. Best shotgun channel on UA-cam.
I pick Reliability over everything else. Ergonomics can be fixed with more training and trigger can be adjusted or replaced with aftermarket version. If the gun doesn't cycle 100% it's not for me. Beretta should have been clear winner. I don't have either brands, so it doesn't matter to me.
Kick- off system of Xtreme Plus is the best in the sector. Perceived recoil on the cheek can be as claimed but it's definitely the lightest recoil on the shoulder. To be fair, t's better to try the recoils on the table as they do it for the rifle recoils. A400 XP recoil will be much less since it's heavier and it has better recoil reduction system.
Knocking on 10k on my a400. 3/4 of that being target loads and I remember once so far I shot the last shell and it didn't fully eject, I had to dump the shell out of the chamber. Mine was off for me out of the box. I used one of the shims and the wedge now its perfect every time.
I would take the Beretta anyday. Ive had very good luck with the Beretta A300 for the past 6 years, Looking forward to shooting my new A400. I guess we all pick and choose. A very well done video sir!
My experience with both guns. The maxus 2 with my shooting position i was hitting my nose with my hand (keep in mind straight out of the box with no adjustments) the a400 fit perfectly with no cheek slap out of the box. I feel that the a400 is a better build.
I have a Browning Maxus2 and never ever had issues on the other hand I have owned 3 different Beretta guns although not the extreme plus all had ejection issues and Beretta has the absolute worst customer service I will never buy a Beretta again period
Give me the Beretta all day. The maxus is a very nice shotgun, but I own a400 xtreme plus and it is awesome. It’s competition barrel puts the shot right where you put the bead
My Maxus 2 out of the box but cleaned out factory grease first as recommended by Browning ran a box of 11/8 trap loads with no problems. My old Maxus would run 1 oz loads with ease and have no doubt the 2 would run them also.Very reliable. I would put it up against any shotgun.

Being a lefty, I’d pretty much narrowed my search to a Beretta A400 or Benelli SBE3. I hadn’t even thought about the Maxus until the local shop told me it could be set up to fit me for both cast and drop. Being a long time Remington shooter and preferring gas over inertia, it was pretty much down to the guns in this review. After watching these head to heads and the individual reviews of each, I have the Maxus 2 with the safety flipped and the cast shims set up for my preferred setup as a lefty…even with the downside of hulls crossing my face, the Maxus 2 just hit all the boxes, and birds, for me. Thanks for your work to get this info out there!
Nice review - thanks for the in-depth. I’m considering both guns but the shim adjustability of the a400 for your cheek issue and the cycling issue of the Maxus seems like you chose the wrong one. I’m sure you can’t go wrong either way.
I have a 1st gen Maxus Wicked Wing. Absolutely love the gun. When deciding between the 2 without ever shooting either, the deciding factor was the safety location vs the A400. I have the same preference as you. Crossbolt safety feels more natural on the back side of the trigger guard. I've even shot 1oz loads out of my 3.5" Maxus on the skeet field. Never had actual cycling issues, but about 50% of the time, the bolt doesn't lock back on the final shot.
I enjoy watching a lot of your shotgun showdown videos. I rarely comment, but want to say that I really like how you end your videos about shooting and in life only hitting the targets that you are laser focused on. Very positive and true statement to end on. Keep doing the good work!
I just bought a Beretta A400 Xplor that would not cycle out of the box. Called Beretta and they said it’s a 6-8 week process to even look at the gun and even suggested that I could find my own gunsmith to look at it .At my expense . A warranty is only as good as the company behind it.
Hi Robert, sorry to hear you are having issues. I would like to get my hands on an A400 Xplor and test it out. I am surprised that you are having cycling issues. Did you give it a good cleaning and use good lubricant? I love the Otis Dry lube targetfocused.link/otisdrylube If it is cleaned well my next question would be the quality of ammo. How old is the ammo and has it been stored in a cool, dry environment? Lastly, how many rounds do you have through the gun? 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife We bought the gun last week and it came disassembled in the box. I did wipe it down and swabbed the bore but did not see excessive grease or lubricant and it looked good to go. I shot about 30 rounds and included several different brands (all 2 3/4, 1 1/8 oz - Winchester AA, Remington STS and Aquilla). At this point, I decided to stop shooting it until I could get the gun checked out. It would not cycle any of the rounds into the chamber and most did not eject or jammed. We carried it to the local range (Georgia Gun Club - they have a rifle and pistol indoor range as well as sales and a gunsmith). They advised sending it to the manufacturer. Beretta should get the gun today (fingers crossed). I thoroughly enjoy watching the shooting exhibitions you do. The content and quality of your videos is outstanding. Thanks for the response and I appreciate the recommendation on the lubricant - I'll give it a try.
Interesting comparison but it misses the mark. The most important factor for me is the ability to practice. I shoot trap and skeet a lot to improve my skills for shooting geese. If the gun won't cycle sporting loads then it does me little or no good. For that reason I bought a Beretta.
Thanks for posting, I have a Berretta A400 and I got a headache blasting at snow geese, so much so I think I may downgrade to 3 inch shells only. I also had trouble mounting it, not enough to stop me from blasting pheasants and geese, but enough to be noticeable. It is also heavy, which in waterfowl, is not that big of a deal. That being said it is still one of my favorite guns, my shoulder is never soar and I love to shoot as fast as I can. Everyone who shoots it loves it as well. (Please note I am a dude, pic is of wife)
Great reviews, but maybe just a little biased seeing that the Maxus is the older cousin of the Winchester SX4, seeing Browning and Winchester are owned by the same parent company and share most of the technology with both. Let’s see if you can pick between the Maxus 2 and the SX4??? Another great parent company comparison would be the SBE3 and A400 plus.
I have been using a400 for over 8 years. Shoots straight , I love it . I was going to buy maxus at the time, but I didn’t get to find in camo. Both are great toys.
Great review! I have cycling issues as well with my Maxus II... turned in to Browning with "nothing is wrong with it". Very disappointed since it was jamming about every 7-8 shots. A lot of money for this to be happening.
Buddy of mine has the wicked wings edition and has the same problems. Jamming straight out of the box. He should’ve listened when I told him to get an a400..trade it in take what you can and get an a400. You’ll never need another shotgun your whole life.
I have been looking into both shotguns and will be picking up an A400. However I did find this video which seemed to fix a jamming problem with Maxus 2. Might work for you Good luck. ua-cam.com/video/wxtSvW9VBoU/v-deo.html
You really need to stop hating on the A400 extreme plus. It was obvious to me that A400 walked away from that shoot. As soon as the Browning had cycling issues. Steve A400 extreme plus is the best auto loader on the Market. Also the A400 has I believe most of their parts corrosion proof. But I could be bias because I love my A400 extreme plus. But good job my friend. Stay safe. I want to see the A 400 extreme plus against all of auto loaders on the market. But I will say the franchi Affinity is an amazing gun also
I have the browning gold hunter wich is better than the maxus imo, also have beretta a400 extreme, being from south louisiana the extreme weather mud and humidity reliability beats ergos and what not imo and beretta is the way to go
A Maxus 2 is the refinement of the original Browning Maxus and demonstrates that Browning listens to their customers and potential customers. The nickel Teflon treatment and pegs in the rear of the forearm keep the forearm from getting loose and wiggling loose. Maxus 2 with a 26 inch barrel is my choice. And at 7 pounds a nice carry weight for an all around shotgun.
I too have a Browning Maxus 2 with a 26” barrel. I love it. I tested it on the skeet range. I have 100 rounds on the Skeet Range. Not a single mis fire or mis feed issues. I was shooting handloads. Remington Gun Club 2 3/4” Hull 1200 FPS. Great shooting gun.
Great review, got the maxus 1 myself, did test the Beretta too. Maxus 1 has the fastest breakdown of any gun. Also you did one mistake in removing the bolt of the maxus and you lost time. Also cycling issues might occur in browning if you cycle lightish loads and you hold on pressing the trigger... Maxus 2 looks great patterns better (as maxus 1 does) but I think is the same as maxus 1 just with a screw cap for adding larger magazine.
I haven't had any problems with my maxus 2, but mine also doesn't have the fancy coatings on it. I have the vintage camo one. Cycled target loads right out of the box and has yet to jam.
Just sold my a400xtreme plus very dependable gun but just didn’t like the way it fits and feels . Too bulky feeling bought a maxus 2 and love it. Also have benelli sbe 20 and sbe 12 guage 3 inch only .
I don't have the maxxus but I've got an A400, an sbe3 and an A5. I've changed the shims and drop and cast on the A400 and it still punches you in the cheek. The fit of the A400 just doesn't match that of the others I have. It's heavy, not balanced as well and what he said about the grip and trigger was spot on. It just doesn't come up as natural as the others.
I’d say the reliability issues with the maxus come from it being a 3.5” chamber. I had a maxus with 3” chamber and always shot 1 oz loads and it never jammed once
24:23 I am 6'1" and had to add the 3R cast shim to get the shot to be exactly Center on target! Both shotguns come with Spacers for LOP and Cast, so once you shoot a few patterns and find the sweet spot then you can compare one shotgun against the other?
I haven’t tried to shoot a Remington 1100 overhead but I’m sure it wouldn’t function because the shell has to hit the bolt release for it to cycle if I’m not mistaking so I wouldn’t say that its a test of reliability as much as it is how the shotgun is designed
Fair review, awesome to see all the different aspects. I have had so many issues with my Browning A5 2017 model, I'm going to have to vote the Beretta A400 E+ as two of my duck hunting friends own them. I have been lucky to shoot them, excellent guns. I am just not sold on any new model firearms from Browning based on my personal experiences.
Go with browning. Beretta if you have a warranty claim expect to not have your firearm for a minimum of 2 months they won't respond to your emails for months at a time or answer the customer service line. If you call them out they will block you from their Facebook page.
Yeah I feel like these are the best two guns on the market. I went back-and-forth until I just bought one of each. The Beretta when we’re sitting in the ducks and geese. If we’re going to be walking and moving I take the browning.
Not faced with any such decisions about choice. Have been shooting the A400 for 9 seasons. Just added Browning Maxus II to the stable. Big blind has room for both. Maxus will be gun of choice when the Canadas slide in, the A400 for ducks
What about tunability, the shim system of the Beretta allows changing of stock drop and cast plus you can get different length pads pre fit from Beretta.. I’m no fan of gimmicky guns so my A409 has the standard stock and I love it.
I actually prefer a gun that doesnt automatically pull up the next shell. I often switch out my first load without unloading the 2 in the tube. Once your used to it youll love the option especially if you hunt ducks and geese at the same time and carry different shot sizes
When it comes to my waterfowl gun all I care about is reliability. Recoil and smooth shooting is also pretty important if you are shooting a whole case of 3" or 3.5" shells in a hunt so your shoulder isn't killing you by the end of the hunt and Beretta does a good job at it. You might feel it a little more in the face than the Browning but I dont tend to feel recoil when hunting. Like sighting in my 300 Win Mag is awful, but I cant even feel it at all when shooting at a deer. Lol. I've had my A400 Xtreme since they originally came out in 2012 and I can honestly say that 2.75, 3, or 3.5 I have never had a single jam in the gun. I'll choose reliability 100% over anything when I comes to waterfowl hunting. Reliability is the main reason I very much dislike all the Benelli SBEs. If you have bad footing or get a weak shoulder because you are standing in the marsh swinging for a bird and you loose your balance you take a good chance of the Benelli hanging up. My buddy has the Browning and ive hunted with it and it is an amazing all around gun, but I still take my 12 year old Beretta all day long for reliability. 👌👌 P.S. a bunch of my friends all shoot Benellis and they are good guns don't get me wrong, but I cant count how many times a flock of birds have been crossing over their shoulder and they kinda had to bend in a wierd position to get the shot off around the edge of the blind and they get one shot off and it hangs up.....the inertia systems just are not for me. Lol.
The Browning Maxis2 is just a fancy Winchester SX4. I know because I own both. I also own the A400 xtream plus. While they are all great shotguns the A400 is the softest shooting by a smidge.
Also also. Hunted with all three with a group of friends last weekend while I used my super Vinci. The Maxis2 started having issues with 3-1/2 on the second morning goose hunt. Issues went away when using 3inch shells…. Not sure what happened there. The Beretta and Maxis were equally easy to clean. The beretta bolt and carriers stayed noticeably cleaner. Of course the super vinci and sbe3 were the easiest to clean but we’re not talking about those.
Thanks for the reviews. Binged watched many of them onThanksgiving night. Your videos and the comments received have convinced me to buy the Beretta A400 X+. Keep up the good work! You the Man!
great review! I think you should get your hands on a savage renegauge for review! not a lot on them on youtube right now and you are so thorough! keep up the good work!
I’m a Beretta guy. Own 4 of them. Shot browning’s all my growing up and favored them in my early years. Now at 60 I lean towards the Beretta. Definitely softer shooting. No way in hell that Browning shoots softer than the A400.
Most reviews are basically unboxings and useless commentary from someone who doesn’t shoot much. Love seeing objective reviews and comparisons by someone that has sent a lot of lead downrange and knows what to look for!
Bryce, I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for checking out the channel and subscribing. I couldn't do what I do without people like you! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
I shoot left handed. I wanted a Browning shotgun but they didn't have a left handed shotgun. I sent a letter to Browning about left handed guns. I received a nice letter from them, but that was all. Beretta has a A400 left handed and I been shooting that since 2018 at the range and birds
question: You said that the Maxus had cycle issues when not held fast to your shoulder. Do you thing that could have been the same issue when shooting overhead? I say that because when you shot over your head the end of the gun was not held fast to anything. You were just holding it in your hands and not anchored against anything like your shoulder.
Hi Steve I am consistent follower of your videos I love the way you explain I learned a lot from your videos specially about dominant eye I am thankful to your detailed explanation keep it up great work. Question I have does Bretta Extreme plus is available in wood stock I am wood stock lover.
The cycling issues on the Maxus are a little concerning, but overall I think you're right. The average person isn't going to be shooting it over the head or speed shooting so it ends up being a non issue for the most part. With the Maxus being lighter and with the superior ergonomics and shot pattern, I think it's the overall superior gun. I think I may just end up getting the Maxus just for the sheer fact that the safety on the Extreme Plus is on the far side of the trigger guard, a BIG deal breaker for me because I always have my safety on, especially while walking around dove or pheasant hunting. Overall, a very fair, honest, and thorough review! I really enjoy the structure of your reviews, nicely done!
I've had both safety in the back and front and prefer the front safety of my A400 XP. Too me it's easier to slide back onto the trigger then to move up to it. But all personal preference
@@TargetFocusedLife I like it, not sure i prefer it. As long term pistol or rifle shooter, newer to shotguns, its natural to have your trigger finger riding above the trigger guard pointing forward and will naturally be right on the safety when prepping to aim and shoot.
You give the browning way to much credit i have both, the browning was awful for reliability and beretta was just superior and all these comments below agree but great in depth video none the less
I like my XP but agree it doesn't shoulder consistent like my sbe2. Maxus 2 does look sweet! Gonna be checking them out. Age has got me looking at gas guns.
My top judging criteria are reliability and mounting and providing that you achieved the same time at speed shooting, for me if the Xtreme Plus fits you then its a better choice.
The 14" lengthened forcing cones for less pressure in the barrel is the deal maker for me shooting a soft load like bismuth. Less pellet deformation. I own an Xtreme Plus. The Maxus does look really nice, but the reliability questions do seem a little concerning.
Well... This sort of reliability would be considered disastrous in a handgun and removed the piece from contention entirely. But I'm not sure if it holds true for shotguns. Also, I like to stick with 3" chamber.
Reliability is the most important factor. And so I don’t agree that the browning wins. A lot of the cons you had on the a400 are all personal preference. So it’s clear the beretta outperformed therefore it should be the winner. I personally was deciding between the a400 and the browning a5 wicked wing and many people say the cerakote finish fades really bad and beretta is far more reliable so that’s what I went with. And it’s been fantastic.
LOVED this review, as these are the very two guns I'm currently choosing between for my next purchase! Interestingly, a few things you liked better about the Browning I actually like better about the Beretta... for example the trigger guard size & shape and the trigger safety placement. But, I like the slightly sleeker build and looks of the Browning, as well as the weight. I'm leaning towards the Beretta, but one concern is your statement about the recoil... regarding it hitting you in the cheek, even though the KO did a good job for the shoulder. So, do you think the cheek felt recoil could be resolved by adjusting the shims that come with the gun for cant, drop etc? Thanks!
I live in another country and I'm watching you. I want to ask a question. Which one do you think is more durable and hassle-free in terms of quality and durability? Beretta A400 XP .. SBE3 .. Browning A5 .. Browning maxus. maxus 2. ???
Thank you for the suggestion. I was thinking about that but they are so far off in price point I am not sure if it makes sense. The SX4 is around $700-$800 and the Maxus 2 is more than 2x the price.
I hunt with a Beretta A400 and have no problems pulling the trigger and operating all the controls with thick Drake MST gloves on, for what it's worth.
Thanks for the comparison, don't have any experience with the Beretta. Initially the maxus 3.5 inch can be a little bit fussy with lighter loads, but loosens up after a while. Have the previous version, am considering the mk 2.
Thanks for sharing. I have a lot of experience with the Winchester SX4 that has a similar gas system and I know my guns have always worked better after a few hundred rounds, but I also usually shoot a 3".
Good vid but really, the beretta is the better one, not the gun’s fault you can’t mount properly. It is very dependable too n soft shooting too. You keep the maxus 2, I’ll take the beretta 😀
Thanks for the great review. I was hoping Maxus 2 wouldn't have cycling issues since it looked like such a nice gun. Can you compare A400 and SBE3? SBE3 seems like it has nice ergonomics but not sure if Benelli fixed the POI issues in recent models.
If you shoot a lot of target loads, I always advocate shooting a 3" gun instead of a 3.5". Since the Maxus 2 won this showdown I compare it to the SBE3 in an upcoming video. I do plan to do some patterning videos soon. Benelli is known for shooting high and sometimes left as well. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife Thanks man looking forward to your videos. You got some of the best in-depth review. Can't wait for the patterning videos. I hope you do multiple distances (20yd, 30yd, 40yd).
Most of the gripes you had with the A400 can be cleaned up with adjustments. I don't understand how you choose a more expensive, less reliable gun though. If I'm going to put faith in a gun out in the fields when working to put food on the table, I'm going to use one that I am confident isn't going to give me issues. The Maxus II having problems basically right out of the box is concerning...
Fair points Kyle. All things considered, the hiccups I had while shooting target loads isn't a huge concern if my main use is waterfowl. If you are going to be shooting a decent amount of target loads through your shotgun I highly advise going 3" over 3.5". Thanks for your comment. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
I think the coatings on the maxus 2 wicked wing requires a break in period, because I have the regular maxus 2 3.5 inch and I haven't experienced any of these issues. Even with the factory grease and target loads.
Out of the box the a400 comes short for cold weather shooting, ie a jacket or two is your extra spacer to get a longer LOP.

You can pull the rounds out of the mag tube on the maxus very easy by pushing up the lifter and then hitting the side catch for the rounds in the mag and then remove the round from chamber. At least that’s what I do.

Thanks for sharing. You are spot on. No right or wrong, just choices. I would be happy with either shotgun. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife Always. Have a great day sir
I have an A400 Upland and its a bad a$$ gun.
My experience with both guns. The maxus 2 with my shooting position i was hitting my nose with my hand (keep in mind straight out of the box with no adjustments) the a400 fit perfectly with no cheek slap out of the box. I feel that the a400 is a better build.
Thanks for the showdown, it was informative. It was obvious to me from the start that you would choose the browning.
Ha ! I thought the same thing !
It's got to come down to reliability if the browning has cycling issues out of the box what's it going to be like 5 years down the line ??
Run it against an A400 and see which one has to get cleaned first.
@@techfowl It won’t be the Maxus. Those things are go to war reliable.
I shoot a first gen maxus, it's been ultra reliable for me too. Never had an FTE - but I shoot mine right side up.
How do you like the maxus after 1 year?
A400 all the way. Shot over 5000 rounds in the past years hunting waterfowl and upland game no issues.

The A400 plus comes in left handed
@@justashootin5164so does the SBE3
I own 2 A400 Xtreme Plus, great waterfowl shotguns, never an issue. As long as both models cut em down, then it’s a win win.
I agree!
You should a showdown between the benelli SBE 3 and the beretta A400 extreme plus
Interesting comparison but it misses the mark. The most important factor for me is the ability to practice. I shoot trap and skeet a lot to improve my skills for shooting geese. If the gun won't cycle sporting loads then it does me little or no good. For that reason I bought a Beretta.
You should have used the original chokes on both guns that's how they are built and just choose the same size chokes. 😉
Thanks for working hard on the format. Helpful demonstrations on the differences in the products.
Thanks for watching!

Well thank you so much for the kind words. I am just getting started! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Im a kid so I don't now too much but maybe try different shims and length of pull so it'll fit you right
I walked in a gun store planning to walk out with the beretta and ended up walking out with an sbe 3 and haven’t regretted it one bit yet
Benelli makes a fine shotgun. I will be releasing a shotgun showdown video of the SBE3 vs the Maxus 2 in the coming weeks.
Did you do a pattern test on your SBE3? I have read that they tent to shoot high. I'm hoping Benelli fixed the issue.
Sbe 3 is a joke
This is a really great comparison, thank you.
This channel is underrated!! Finally we get a honest gun opinion/ review!
Why Thank you - Honesty is important me! Cheers 👊🏻
I have been using a400 for over 8 years. Shoots straight , I love it . I was going to buy maxus at the time, but I didn’t get to find in camo. Both are great toys.
But, the average person owning these shotguns are not in any speed contest on breaking down the shotgun for Cleaning? At least I am not!
But I will say the franchi Affinity is an amazing gun also
I have the browning gold hunter wich is better than the maxus imo, also have beretta a400 extreme, being from south louisiana the extreme weather mud and humidity reliability beats ergos and what not imo and beretta is the way to go
Great video. Thanks ! And, I shoot a Beretta A400 and love it, but realize it is not for everyone. I respect your opinion, but still love my shotgun.
Well said Jeffrey 👊
Great, video, I really appreciate your honest opinion on both guns, keep up the good work.
Just sold my a400xtreme plus very dependable gun but just didn’t like the way it fits and feels . Too bulky feeling bought a maxus 2 and love it. Also have benelli sbe 20 and sbe 12 guage 3 inch only .
How do you like the maxus after 1 year?
I don't have the maxxus but I've got an A400, an sbe3 and an A5. I've changed the shims and drop and cast on the A400 and it still punches you in the cheek. The fit of the A400 just doesn't match that of the others I have. It's heavy, not balanced as well and what he said about the grip and trigger was spot on. It just doesn't come up as natural as the others.
I just sold my a400 for the exact same reasons 4 more days maxus 2 will be here!!! #reedsoutdoors
Which gun do you prefer? Trying to decide between these 4 guns for nasty goose hunts

I’d say the reliability issues with the maxus come from it being a 3.5” chamber. I had a maxus with 3” chamber and always shot 1 oz loads and it never jammed once
I have a 3.5 inch maxus she fires every thing no jams some people don't break them in rifht
I honestly think the different coatings on the wicked wing need a break in period, because my vintage camo maxus 2 has 0 of the issues he's having.
Do a video of sb3 with berreta a400......
Can't go wrong if you have both!
Not faced with any such decisions about choice.
Have been shooting the A400 for 9 seasons. Just added Browning Maxus II to the stable.
Big blind has room for both. Maxus will be gun of choice when the Canadas slide in, the A400 for ducks
A400 and Maxus 2, I like the way you think!
Bro is downgrading the best shooting gun on the market and favoring a browning over the beretta this dude crazy
I would suggest using both with their factory chokes for a better representation of what the average shooter will experience. Nice video, keep it up.
But Carlson want sponsor him if he does that
I have a maxus 2 for the range and just ordered an a400 for hunting. Thx for the review
Good call, why have one when you can have both. BUT, if you could only have one, which one you taking? 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Extremely helpful
Looking at getting one
Thanks
What about tunability, the shim system of the Beretta allows changing of stock drop and cast plus you can get different length pads pre fit from Beretta.. I’m no fan of gimmicky guns so my A409 has the standard stock and I love it.
Beretta a400 hands down. Love my extreme plus
Xtrme plus ready out the box

Hi, I purchased a Maxus 2. Which is the best choke tube for long shots with steel cartridges. Thanks

Ciao.
Quale dei 2 consiglieresti a un tuo amico?
Grazie.
P.S. a bunch of my friends all shoot Benellis and they are good guns don't get me wrong, but I cant count how many times a flock of birds have been crossing over their shoulder and they kinda had to bend in a wierd position to get the shot off around the edge of the blind and they get one shot off and it hangs up.....the inertia systems just are not for me. Lol.
The Browning Maxis2 is just a fancy Winchester SX4. I know because I own both. I also own the A400 xtream plus. While they are all great shotguns the A400 is the softest shooting by a smidge.
Also I much prefer the beretta or benelli manual of arms.
Of course the super vinci and sbe3 were the easiest to clean but we’re not talking about those.
kick off system has a break in period, the more shots the less recoil, plus you didnt mention the chrome lined barrel on the berretta

Yes I can! Filmed the Ultima review this week and it should be released next week. Thanks for the suggestion.
Most definitely a browning fan boy.. sad sad.. A400 recoil system is spot on....
In your view which is better in term of pattern produced and soft shooting? Thanks in adv
Hi Steve I am consistent follower of your videos I love the way you explain I learned a lot from your videos specially about dominant eye I am thankful to your detailed explanation keep it up great work. Question I have does Bretta Extreme plus is available in wood stock I am wood stock lover.

Great review Steve. Best bud buying the Maxus II. I have the A400 and yes - have felt the face kick when firing a 3 1/2 inch #1.
Thanks Dave. Now you and your bud can have your own shotgun showdown 💥 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Thanks for watching, Josh. As I mentioned in the video, I agree about the safety. Does anyone prefer the safety on the front?
Beretta are shite
Great review!
Do you agree with my decision for the winner of the shotgun showdown?
I was cross-shopping the old maxus against the a400, ended up with the a400. This new maxus looks nice.
If I had to choose between the Maxus 1 and the a400, I would have made the same decision. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Thanks!
A400 of course...
I live in another country and I'm watching you. I want to ask a question. Which one do you think is more durable and hassle-free in terms of quality and durability? Beretta A400 XP .. SBE3 .. Browning A5 .. Browning maxus. maxus 2. ???
Great video in details, keep it up.
Thanks, will do! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Loves the video!! I think that you should do a challenge between the sx4 and the maxus 2.👍👍👍
Thank you for the suggestion. I was thinking about that but they are so far off in price point I am not sure if it makes sense. The SX4 is around $700-$800 and the Maxus 2 is more than 2x the price.
Thanks for your reply. But I think that the sx4 will beat the maxus 2.👍👍
I have an important question ¿Do You know what's the difference betwen the model a400 extreme plus to a400 lite?
@@TargetFocusedLife 3 inch a little more suited to lighter loads!
I noticed you shot the browning with a carlsons choke. i wish you used the factory tube for patterning
Good vid but really, the beretta is the better one, not the gun’s fault you can’t mount properly. It is very dependable too n soft shooting too. You keep the maxus 2, I’ll take the beretta 😀
Great job Steve, Thank you so much, keep going you are the best.
Much appreciated 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
The A400 xtreme plus is 100% the superior gun
It in no way is.
So curious how the new kick off system compares to the old A400 Xcel style. I loved that one. Could shoot 1000 rounds in a day and feel nothing.
I had the first maxus and loved the gun mostly but had repeated trigger freeze with it which never happens with my sbe 2.
I have the og maxus. The only issue I've had is the gummy stock. That just means custom paint job. 5k rounds and never had a single ftf
I had the same gummy issue and sent it back to Browning. They resurfaced it but not with the original rubbery feel.
