Great review. I have the 1st gen A400. After thousands of rounds, it still shoots great. Kick off system is a must. One draw back is the pistons can get dirty (federal - boo) and cause a cycle issue when the temps drop below 40. Clean it and it does great. Other than the plastic in the butt stock going bad from shooting 3 1/2 for many years, I'll be happy to keep on shooting my A400.
Great review. I’ve shot a Benelli for 11 years now but held one of these at a store on a whim and really like the feel and fit of it. Thinking hard about it now.
I have an A350 extrema and I love it! Hunter with it for years and shoot lots of skeet! Never given me a problem with proper care. It won’t shoot anything less then 1200fps but I’m fine with that. Great review ! Cheers from Ontario eh 🍻🇨🇦🤘
I shot an a400 extreme plus last season and probably put at least 500 rounds through it. Only thing that got it to fail was ammo where the crimp was way outside spec and wouldn't chamber. I beat that gun to death, sunk it in the marsh, froze it and still couldn't get it to not shoot with just standard steel shot loads. my kick off did bind up due to contamination but I disassembled it cleaned it and its working again.
I've had a Benelli M2 and SBE 2i. I was going to purchase a SBE 3. but I held Beretta A400 the other day and really like the feel. I'm gonna make the switch
I'd see no issues using it on a turkey, but I use my old 870, I can drag that through the mud and brush and not feel bad. I used my A300 the first couple years. No doubts it would be a good turkey gun
Question for ya. The Mossbergs that I have, they have a mid sight as well as your Beretta. Do find yourself lining up the sights or do you point and aim with the front sight only while shooting? Honestly I think I do both depending on what I'm shooting at.
Hey I just purchased this gun the other day and I saw your unboxing video as well. I was curious if you ever went with an aftermarket choke? If so, which one? Thanks for the video! Taking this puppy out to Arkansas next month to give it a good run for its money!
Hi. Thanks for the great review. Currently trying to device between this gun and the new A300 Ultima. The A400 is double the price. The shotgun would be for pheasant and duck a few times a year. Any advice?
I also own an A300 Outlander, which I love ... I have no experience with the Ultima. The Outlander has worked flawlessly, snow, sleet, rain, it's been a solid gun in the fall for me
You have a Jays hat on, tough season. I'm assuming you are Canadian? So you dealt with Stoeger Canada for your warranty issues? Everything I have heard is that they are brutal, I have tried to call a few times to ask about parts and couldn't get anyone on the line.
I'm not quite Canadian, I am in extreme NW Minnesota. I claim the Twins and the Blue Jays.. I had no issues with customer service when I needed them for my A300. I haven't needed any customer service on my A400
Been wanting one of these. I would like to get into duck hunting but just don’t know anyone to tag along with. I had a brother in law that was going to kinda teach me about it but he turned out to be a miserable douche that I wanted nothing to do with. I would say that the best gun for someone who thinks they might like duck hunting is not the 870 but the mossberg 500, it’s cheaper, just as good for reliability but the real kicker is barrels are cheaper to change it to a defense gun or a slug gun. I love my mossberg
@@After5Outdoors What about the little button you can push in just behind the loading port in front of the trigger gaurd? That is where it's at on my A350 Extrema, or the the new A400s literally do not have one at all?
I primarily use my A400 xtreme for skeet and I love it. I went from an 1100 to this and I can't complain now in the duck swamp I would never take my 1100 the A400 I absolutely would.
I think Beretta owns Benelli, but I've always wondered if Beretta shoots high as well in the "European style" or whatever Benelli claims is the reason the SBE2 and 3 shoot a little high?
Is this that very same gun used by Tiananmen Timmy? Does it have one of those, "kind of their C thing I kicked off so when you get old it doesn't hurt your shoulder" I'm not sure what that is but does this gun have one? I hope Beretta has patented that feature.
@@After5Outdoors Yes. I'm not sure of the exact date of change; however earlier this month, I bought a second A400 EP and the newest one arrived in new cardboard packaging (still nicely packed) instead of the plastic case included in the first one. Also, instead of a hardcopy paper manual, the newest one has a big QR code to scan for download only. I'm sure it's just a cost savings matter, but I'd still prefer the initial packaging. These are same models and camo, just different manufacturing years.
Says he read about using lead to shoot before steel? Why? He doesn’t say. That would be nice info. says he patterned it and decided on factory modified choke tube. Patterned with what shells??? “Mid sight and an “end sight” Huh??? What’s he talking about? A mid bead maybe and front sight? Wow. I’m only 3:19 in and I have to stop watching. This just proves a point I tell a lot of people … anyone can make a UA-cam video. Use correct nomenclature and expand on your statements. People watch these to learn!

Good morning Cody! Hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas!
Thank You!
It's also a great turkey with 3.5" #9 tungsten loads. Stiff recoil, but you only need one shot.
👍
Beretta it the go to for shot guns in my opinion. there is a reason why there are so many copycats out there.
They've been in business almost 500 years!

Point and shoot, but when I look, my sights are perfectly aligned

@resurrectiongarage1506 mossbergs a reliable choice. Go hunting man, you will meet people out in the field to hunt with!
Do you have any of your camo hydro dip that has chipped or wore off anywhere?
not as of yet
Nice review, Cody.
Did Beretta do away with the magazine cutoff on the A400 XP? If so, that is very disappointing
The first gens had the cutoff lever on the left side, but it is not on the newer models.

I’m upgrading strictly because my gun won’t cycle 2-3/4” range shells. Have you ever had a cycle problem with the lighter loads?
@matbrown160 I have only put a few low base upland loads through it but... so far not an issue
Great review buddy!
What barrel length do you recommend for waterfowl and dove?
I love the 28 inch
Just bought one yesterday.
Love the review. I'm on the fence about this gun or a browning maxus 2! Have you had any experience with the browning?
Alot of my friends shoot browning, they're good guns, buy I'd pick the Beretta, it may be just be personal choice but the Beretta just fits me better
I've had 3 brownings...2 maxus 2 and they are both gone..there customer service is awful!!!
@@mattsummers6324 From my experience, I have had very good luck with Beretta's customer service

Does the a400 come with a hard shell case?
the one i bought came with a factory hard case, not a very nice one but......
Unfortunately it no longer has a case included. Just a standard cardboard box. Still a solid choice.
They really stopped with the case??

What choke do you use? What size shells? Tia
I use the modified with #2 steel for waterfowl. You mustn't shoot steel through the imp mod or full choke

Yes sir!
what Camo pattern is that?
Max 5
Thanks
Thank you for checking it out 😊
If you buy a cheaper gun, your going to want to upgrade at some point. Therefore the buy once cry once comes into play. Saving money in the long run.
Keep it up mam stay connected so beautiful
