Singer Francis Rossi was an original co-founding member of Status Quo. He was 12 or 13 years old when they formed, in 1962. He is the only original member still in the band.

I got to see Status Quo live 4 or 5 times as a young guy back in the 1970's in Australia .... Absolutely loved them.
Likewise...saw them at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in 1974 as part of British Rock month...aweswome show!
i once got in a punch up with francis rossi over a bird we both put moves on in the pub, we threw punches until her husband showed up and francis bought me a pint and i bought him a scotch

Yes, the seventies were a good time. I pity the later generations not to have lived at this era. Proof is that all talented young musicians look for these songs and cover them.

They opened the British version of band or live aid has it's called now. They, has openers they made the others a bit envious mainly because they were a live act band and together they made live aid what is now history and when they came off after being the first act on the bill. They were out of their heads drunk and before and after they started playing allegedly. You might be able to find this bands live aid video interview they did . They were a sixties band that even if they bought out a song tomorrow it would go to number ten in the charts and maybe go higher. I think they never stopped touring well that's how I like to think of them. And the running joke "with the Quo" was they could only play three chords over the last fifty years, "three chords, my arse,"

Consider this, Quo tickets are now starting to come out for the 2024 European tour and all 15 venues in Germany are sold out, the UK tickets go on sale next week, a band that started in the early '60s and have toured every year from the beginning, what other band could match that.

I saw them live celebrating their 40 year annivarsary in 05-06, still got the ticket stub from it, what a show that was, a sold out outdoor event and me and my dad stood all the way upfront, VIP tickets and 4.5 hours in line just make sure we got there early to be all the way upfront.... Dad knew what i wanted ;) he got the tickets for my 25 birthday, 9 month before the concert was happening.

Francis Rossi told this story about Rick Parfitt just after Rick died of a heart attack. At the hotel after a gig, he walked into Rick's room where Rick was in bed with 5 girls. He looked up, winked, and said "It's allright this Rock n Roll isn't it?"
This song is about the lead singer coming home late from a gig and his partner was sleeping on the wrong side of the bed and would not let him into bed lol
Big fan seen them in 1984 was meant to be last tour, going end of May to see them, think this will be the last tour...
You need to check out some Quo from the 70's. Forty Five Hundred Times live is a must. You've entered the Quo rabbit hole now there is no escape. Great band live. My favourite band of all time.

I think you should really check out the live stuff from the late 70's and during the 80's when Alan Lancaster was playing bass with them, it was when they were at their best. maybe their end of the road tour in 84, im sure there is plenty of footage from that.
Sold more records than bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR and many many more, despite not making it big in America
I feel sorry for you two as you'll unfortunately never have the Great Pleasure of seeing "The Quo" live. There will never be anything else like that. Can you imagine the thrill f being in that crowd?

If the Quo had called it a day c1978 we'd be talking about them in the same revered way we talk about The Who, Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin but shite like Margarita Time etc rather ruined it but, from 73-76 they were probably the best rock & roll band in the world.

@@0utcastAussie if you like it, good for you but it's shite compared to the likes of Forty Five Hundred Times, Roll Over Lay Down, Paper Plane etc. As for Kiss, what about them, I don't think anyone would ever make a case for them to be compared to the Who etc.
In 1982, Prince Charles,now the King, attended a Quo gig at NEC in Birmingham.He looked so out of place.
