@@user-nq6um4bs5y Since you want to spend your time deflecting and splitting hairs, the Mexican man is of a race that is NOT WHITE. Now you ready to lend an ear to the actual point of the conversation?
@Will G it's not about who's right and who wins the argument. It's about realising that you are ALWAYS wrong when you're being racist and offensive. got it?
I agree with Amanda on this. If a person tells you “go back to Mexico!” Or “go back to Africa!” are you going to CALMLY explain to a GROWN man that he is being a racist and teach him how not to be racist?!? HELL NAH!!!! 😠
Miriam Myrsiades hey girl hey yes hunty!!! 😘Thank you 🙏🏽 for saying this my thoughts exactly like uhh 🙄 nooo it’s 2020 and I’m not about to be your teacher so that you can say “oh my goodness look how respectable and CALM this black lady is while I’m being racist “ like ...😒come on man But you the GOAT SIS FOR THIS COMMENT 👏🏾#allies
Exactly! Some people are way too optimistic and have too much faith in others. Some people have to view the world that way to go on, I get it. It's not realistic though.
Yea... I feel like tam and Adrienne and Jeanne have the option to think that you can heal racists. Amanda and loni don't get those options.. healing and teaching people that have been trained since childhood to cause me societal, emotional, and physical harm is not my obligation at all. It puts my life in danger.
Miriam Myrsiades I’ve been told that and I was born here and my mother came here legally and became a US naturalized citizen since 2009. These words that are told to me make me feel unwelcome and unwanted. This is my home and I am staying and I will fight against the wrong and the equality that is needed.
Amanda was the only one who was actually making logical points. A person of color speaking to racist people calmly or loudly telling them they are wrong and try to change their thoughts is not going to make the racist change their perspective because let’s be honest that person is not going to listen to someone that they hate. People should not waste their energy on people like that man. Only people like that man can change when they realize it for themselves and want to change.
You are totally wrong. As a chinese who loves to speak calmly and nicely to person who blatantly says nasty things about the chinese race, first question them on the logic of their racism, have find that, once you don't get mad, talk it through and rationalise it with them. You can end up friends.
I agree with Amanda ... I’m TIRED!! We are not explaining to racist people WHY that’s racist nor coddling them with a discussion! They will face consequences from here on out and that’s it
Amanda's point is that we give racists too much credit and leeway when we assume that they do not know they're being racist. They know exactly what they're doing and saying, they simply DO NOT CARE. The racist does not have to label themselves racist for the fact to still remain that they are racist 🤷🏽♀️
Amanda (in this segment) was the literal definition of: image how tired we are And I’m not even mad because people of color have every right to be tired of having to explain what is and isn’t racist. We’re only human, and we can only take so much 🤷♀️
Sorry but Amanda is 100% on this. It’s 2020 man, people know what’s racist and what’s not, people of colour shouldn’t have to take time out their day to explain what’s racist and what’s not. Who actually has time to explain all that.
Frrrrrr I get that we need to explain to him why it’s wrong and stuff but we know when something is wrong when we steal we know it’s wrong but guess what we still do it cause people don’t care just like racist people don’t care and that’s the thing Amanda is saying that people don’t care to change sometimes which is why when we try to discuss they get offended when they are wrong
It is not POC’s JOB to teach white people how to not be racist. White people can learn from us via research, books, personal relationships etc. and teach each other.
Calling us white people makes you a racist. . I've never in my life heard anyone referring to a race as white people or back people or asians other then from a black person. . White people don't talk like that for the most part. I've made it 30 years and I've never felt more uncomfortable in my life hearing how you guys all speak about white people. Who's really the racist?
i said what i said. lol i feel that this gentlemen in this video knew what HE did was wrong. they're at a meeting for the same ignorant behavior that he just blurted out. i understand both of your points, but i'm not talking about what other racists feel or doesn't know or where it is bred from. this man knew it was wrong and he knew better. so i'm with Amanda i'm not educating anyone in 2020 (ESPECIALLY someone of his age). there has been way too many incidences around the world and there's an abundance of resources today to be educated in some way on racism.
Anna J thenselves maybe? Most things i know i learned from watching the news, movies, talk shows etc...and i am not a brilliant person, i just have common sense. I believe that is what the world needs the most, people just like to say everything that comes in their minds without taking at least 1s to think before you talk or evene better just put yourself in another person’s shoes before you talk about them or something.
Amanda is 💯! Thank god she’s on this show to educate the others. That man knows he was being racist and felt safe to be racist openly. THANK YOU AMANDA!!!
Amanda Chatindo they aren't suggesting people of color do it! When did they specifically say people of color have to ask Why? When ? Please tell me cuz I would love to know. Black people always assume everything it towards them when its not. Exactly what they said towards the end, the white people could be the ones asking why.
I think like all things pointing fingers doesnt help. Yelling racism doesnt help. Its a word so overused that its not even a real insult anymore. I think the concept that having a conversation is important. Giving up on people never helps in my opinion. And they are saying everyone should invite converstaion instead of confrontation. Today we have too much yelling and telling, and too little listening and hearing.
No. They are being realistic. People are naturally defensive especially those who think they are right. If you scream racism, they won’t listen they’ll just say “no I’m not.” You have to break down their defenses and get to them by being calm and through logic. Think about it like this. If a guy is holding a gun, do you want to get him angry? No, you want to deescalate then find the right time to take the gun. Same thing. If you just make the guy more angry the less of a chance you have of letting him know he is being racist.
They didn't say try to understand it. They said keep your composure and have dialogue. That is what that man did and anyone watching that video can tell you who looked like the big idiot in that discussion.
I am so glad Amanda is on this show. She is the only person that don't be tip toeing around these topics. Why is it the responsibility of the person receiving the discrimination to be calm, rational and also have to educate the racist? It does not matter how you behave racist white folk will still think of you in a negative way. Amanda is the only one on this panel with enough courage to speak the truth.
@@BATOOLESK she didn't say she wouldn't back him up. She said it is not the responsibility of POC to continously have to fight this fight. Why must we always sit down and explain to the racist white man that they are racist!
I agree 💯. I'm sorry but, he is wrong and he isn't ganna change at all. Having a talk does nothing some times. This isn't his country tbh bc whites stole it so him saying the comment wasn't okay at all
Its not about the stereotypes. We don't need hmm to explain his comment. Everyone knows why he feels the way he does. There's irrelevant in this context.
There are ways to get our point across without being confrontational but using breath and energy to try and convince an ignorant person is a waist of time I feel all you can do is offer him a book let him teach him self and those that see we continue to walk together isolate that mentality like anything that's not fed it will die
The Real is not ready for Amanda's REAL! Everything on her face read, "Okay, y'all. Don't make me have to go all the way in." She was ready to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

@@baybeehmushie THANK YOU! LOL. Don't get why everyone's so quick to rush to Amanda's defense like she can do no wrong. meanwhile, she thinks her way is the only way, and that's all that matters to her.
Brittany Lynn I like how on your favoriate Playlist the first thing that came up was a rap video with a bunch of black guys in the thumbnail... if they that bad stop listening to they sh*t 🤷🏽♂️
100% why do we need to be calm? Why do you care about being a stereotype? You think a racist will stop being racist if you come at them with kid gloves?!
Amanda is 1000% right why should we keep rehashing this race topic, Everyone in that room was over the age of 25, so that means everybody also knows what racism means and what discrimination means and that man displayed both of those actions. So I'm sorry I'm not having a conversation about something we've been talking about since salvery.
SAME!! I was supporting her from the jump. I just don't understand how all the others couldn't see how valuable to this show she is. It's a life lesson for us all. Let them hate on you, soon they'll be a fan.
This conversation without Amanda would’ve been so much more disappointing . The ladies sicken me with this fairytale lense they have on real life . Tf I look like asking a racist why he’s racist
Exactly! That panel was a mess. I expected more from Loni & Adrienne tbh, they probably don't want to hurt their fanbase as they each have their own hustles to manage...
I agree with Amanda. I'm not creating space for a racist to explain themselves. I had a sr exec. At my job make a racist comment to me (I am a black woman). I reported it to HR. HR said he wanted to apologize. I clearly told them I don't need an apology or want to hear from him. He said what he said. The apology is for his politics not to make me feel better. He still thinks and says these things behind closed doors. No need to waste my ears with an apology.
If someone were to tell me to go back to Mexico, I would get so angry. I would want to learn how to stay calm after that. And I was angry and disgusted and it didn’t happen to me. I think every one of those parents stayed as calm as possible. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s hard to keep calm, but I do agree with Loni that you should find out what made this person feel this way because it really could come from a place or ignorance or a bad experience that turned to labeling people or it was taught by an older generation before him. It’s happens to many races and it’s just not ok.
Vee Some racist individuals don’t take the issue seriously and purposely say blatant things knowing it will cause a reaction, I’m just trying to come up with a good comeback at this point.
he knew he was being racist. quite frankly it seems like he likes being racist. it gives him a false sense of superiority in a room filled with minorities and THAT is the issue. these people know EXACTLY what they’re saying and doing
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Come on now! Idk how Blacks, Hispanics, Asians etc can come to his defense like that. It’s mind boggling that they wanna ask an out right racist why he’s racist 🤯. Like what? It’s time to get out of that “kumbiya mentality”, believe ppl when they show you who they are and take steps doing what needs to be done to move on knowing that this is the way this country was made and it’ll probably never change.
If he didn't know what he said was racist, he had to at least know to tell someone who obviously lives in America, with his child attending an American school and in a class with other American students that he was wrong for saying that.
I LOVE AMANDA, She is so right, POC's have been discussing and trying to change people's prejudicial thoughts for a long ass time we need more White people to step up just as Betty did, I really believe people hear and accept messages more when it comes from people that look like them.
betty didnt step up tho? She looked shocked but didnt say anything to defend that man. A whole room of white people and none of them actually SAID anything to comfort him or hold ole boy accountable. Im sorry, but she was ultimately complicit, just like all the other white people in that room. The brotha was the only one who ACTUALLY said something.
I disagree. If we jump on him or make him leave, then he leaves still a closed minded racist. But if there some dialogue, maybe he can get a seed planted for change of thought. Just my opinion.
The issue is though when some white people step up they get told it’s not their place to deal with these kinds of issues. I think that may be too simplistic.
I’m sorry but I only agree with Amanda on this one. A racist knows that they are racist and they are ok spreading their hate. EVERYONE knows that telling another person to go back to their country is racist. lmao! How are you going to ask someone calmly “ but why are you saying that? Who hurt you?” 😅😅😅😅
There were times on this show when crucial topics such as these were discussed and the ladies missed the mark or put forth bizarre arguments that were just accepted, mostly on account of unanimous agreement. This was not one of those times.
Amanda was spot in with this and I’m glad she stood her ground and challenged the unanimous agreement throughout the table 👏🏼👏🏼 This is what needs to happen with topics like this!!!
Tamera didn't say that she commends the black person for being calm, she said the commends the whole room both the white and black and mexican people. so that's where listening earnestly will effectively contribute to this conversation. So Tamera isn't saying the black person should have been the only one having the conversation. The vibe in the whole room was on the right track and Loni said what would have made that better (it is already great) is if THEY had that discussion. not just the black person. There were multiple people in the room, of multiple races who saw that what he said was wrong and reacted accordingly and Sherry was suggesting ways to further that conversation in that specific context. I understand Amanda's focus on the black perspective, and I understand her tone, while a little jarring is actually her passion showing and the tone policing of black people is a whole other discussion. But to me, it didn't seem like she was listening objectively and to understand. It seemed like she was listening to rebut. The convo wasn't a convo for her.
I think there is a lot of misinterpretation here. Amanda is saying we should hold racists accountable and not coddle them, which is true. The other hosts are saying that just shoving ppl aside bcuz they don't agree with you doesn't help fix the problem. Both sides are right: He is a grown ass man, he should know better; but the main reason why we celebrate MLK is bcuz he wanted to stand with EVERYONE.
I respectfully disagree with there being a misinterpretation at least from Amanda's side, I think Amanda understood what they were saying and agreed. She just was not trying to go to commercial break without addressing the fact that BLACK folk have endured enough and the last thing they NEED to be responsible for is helping white folk de-colonize. That's the white allies' job. Black folk can choose to support the decolonization of the white mind but as a black womyn it's pure cruelty to expect that from us. and again as a black womyn, Jeannie's insistence that it doesn't matter who supports that post-conversation of restoring really showed how ignorant non-black bodies (notice i am not saying P.O.C) is, no matter what celebrity status they have, no matter what show they on, no matter who they friends are, etc.
Yes very well put actually, and Loni did mention there's occasions where you can sit them down and see. They were having a meeting and it's crazy someone was recording at the right time could you imagine if it didn't get caught on camera.
Y’all better have this good discussion in This comment section!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 great 👍🏽 points everybody 😎and big facts and kudos to you who said MLK held the feet of white America to the fire 🔥
Amanda's not going to last on the show. She's too real for The Real. I mean, why in the world would I sit down and ask a racist to explain to me why they are the way they are?Why do I have to make them feel comfortable after what they said?If someone is being a racist and then acts like there is nothing wrong with it, why do I have to turn that into some kumbaya moment where I become a damn history teacher.🙄
Ana Castillo speak on that truth. I knew what Amanda was going to say before she said it. We KEEP having to have conversations. Why ? Racist know what’s up that’s why they say the things they do to get a reaction
@@sstrugglinginthe Yup, and I hated how Jeannie tried to make it seem like the guy had some type of moment of realization. He knew what he said, he knew what he meant and he was a ok with it. Don't try to say he was reflecting on his words because he wasn't. He just stood back because he didn't find any type of support.
I think she will because the people who hired her knew what she was when they put her on the show. I think they chose her specifically to be more real and shake things up.
Ana Castillo Yeah wtf was Jeannie talking about? The captions at the end of the clip showed him saying that the speaker was complaining about the US. How is that an epiphany?
Amanda is 100% correct. These people know what they are saying is racist, it is not POC job to educate you. All you have to do is open your eyes and see our contributions every single day.
can we just give Amanda a chance girl is speaking the truth? White people know exactly what racisism is we beingggggggggg speaking about it and that man knew he was saying.
Ok even if he doesn’t know what’s racist, he knows what’s rude right? 🙄 most racist say racist stuff intentionally to hurt the people they are referring to.
Damn why did they have to cut it off right when Amanda was TEACHING! The oppressed do NOT have to create the remedy for the oppressor, that’s weird. Lol I’m not consoling someone who is comfortable “othering” me to their convenience.. I’m goooood.
uh oh, amanda’s gettin’ a little too real for “the real”, i agree it’s not black peoples job to educate non-black people on racism, people only listen to their own
Hahahaha nope, I remember watching a clip and Amanda was like I am not sure and Loni was like nope, say it because that is why we brought you on. Hahaha.
Not facts... I’m white and I do not just listen to my “own” I love hearing everyone’s opinions and I love learning! I am constantly standing up to racism. I find it appalling.
I like Amanda in this go off Amanda the burden shouldn’t lie on the person being prejudiced against like why would they have to be the bigger person and hear this racist crap obviously people should know right from wrong it’s really common sense obviously that old white guy doesn’t have common sense
Thank you Amanda!! They’re grown ass people that can literally think for themselves! They know exactly what they’re saying and why. They aren’t kids that need someone to explain what they are saying is wrong.
They need to listen to what Amanda is saying. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. It's time for some ppl to take responsibility for the racism that has always existed in this country. We've had all the conversations already!
Sorry Loni why to we need to know why he said it. When a person doesn't think their racist . A person has to want to change. Amanda was right not wasting time
Here's the thing though if someone tells you that you are a racist from their perspective wouldn't want know why ? The accuser can always become the accused eventually. remember that you don't know everything that is right or wrong across the board . Everybody is still learning each other cultures and what is demmed racist or offensive.
I will never understand why we need to approach racist people with understanding when they have no problem spewing pure hatred. I fully agree with Amanda!
Nayma A’ because if we approach them with anger, hatred, and violence then we are justifying what they think. MLK said the same thing. Hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that, which is also what Tamera was getting at.
@Anthony Perez Return evil for evil to no one. Take into consideration what is fine from the viewpoint of all men. If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah." Romans 12:17-19 Easier said than done of course. If the white man got cursed out it wouldn't have made a difference, he's still going to be racist. God will take care of racism in the end, vengeance belongs to him.
@Nayma A’ - What would you want them to do in that setting? Beat him up? All take turns cursing him out? I am honestly not sure what they should have done, but I think they handled it well as a group. I would have wanted him to leave. However, if he left could this school issue be resolved if they don’t discuss this with jerks and racists like him?
jyn88 Who even mentioned violence? Calm down, there is other ways to combat racist people. But being kind and understanding is not one of them. They are very much aware of what they are saying and doing, they are not infants.
@@naymam2450 I might have misunderstood you. I thought you were implying that we should spew hatred back at them since they have no problem doing it. I'll never understand someone ignorant as this man. However, I believe being calm is effective in every scenario whether it's argument with spouse, lecturing your child, confronting an unreasonable stranger, etc. You can be assertive and calm at the same time.
I agree with Amanda, you can’t say something racist to me then have me be considerate to your emotions or feelings and be calm. Cause at that point I’m mad (for good reasons). Why should he explain why saying “why don’t you go back to Mexico?” Is so messed up to say? I understand discussions in different circumstances but when someone is being BLATANTLY RACIST, it’s not my responsibility to cater to their emotions.
You didnt hear them cuz amanda was too busy cutting them off, they said be calm and make them think and see how they are wrong. It was never about catering to their emotions
Thank you Amanda for not being scared to stand up for truth and what’s right even if those at the table with you disagree. You are standing up for all of us people of color and I respect you for that! You are passionate and honest and it’s beautiful . It’s what the world needs more of♥️♥️ love your Latina sister 🇲🇽🇺🇸
I understood Loni’s point of trying to understand why he feels that way, but I definitely agree with Amanda! That man is WAY too old not to know what he said was racially insensitive. He thought that PTA meeting was a Facebook comment section and he quickly was brought back to reality.
thank god amanda joined the show. imagine how off track and pointless this conversation would have gone without her intelligence. this is one of the first heavy topics that kept me interested in a long time
Right because they are trying to go off track now...and not listening to what shes saying...look at Jennie's face...like girl I get you but you are wrong...and Loni sitting there agreeing like she doesn't know whats going on...
I noticed that she gets under some people's skin but honesty sucks sometimes and she is just 100% honest. The reason why we still have these problems is because some people fool around and take it as a joke. She is very serious about these topica and osnt going to beat around the bush. I respect her deeply for that.
Exactly!! It's 2020 we keeping giving them a pass like they are little kids in the play ground. I'm not gonna be sitting next to a GROWN man asking him why he's racist when it's something he chose to be ..
Not necessarily. There are plenty of insular communities and towns in America that have no contact with other people or cultures. And these racist thoughts are circulated in such towns for years
@@Sevkingblade I do agree with what you're saying, however I do feel that there is a difference between ignorance based on homogeny and just blatant racial insensitivity. This man knew what he was saying, buy just thought that because there seemed to be more white people in the room he would get backed up. He was wrong
Iv met a racist before. They legit think they are not racist, that they are justified. Our natural reaction is definitely anger. And true, it should not be our burden to fix this person. But if you could gather your composure and defend yourself without cursing back and hurling back other racism to call that person out, trust me, peoples heart can change. You don't even have to say much. Say a couple sentence denouncing his behaviour and words, tell them how hurtful it is and how it is not ok...andjust walk away even if they argue back. They will go home and slowly reflect on their actions.
Wow, I disagree with everyone at the table except Amanda. Why should the onus be on the person facing the discrimination to be calm and understanding? Why are they the ones that have to become teachers and therapists on top of being the receivers of the discriminatory actions and comments? Sounds like a mix of tone policing with a dash of respectability politics, both of which are BS and does nothing to end discrimination and never will.
Alex Hallow Amanda was right in saying we’ve been having this conversation for years. We’re going in circles at this point. People who want to be racist will be, whether I advocate for my side or not.
@@alexhallow5119 The majority of the White community in the US doesn't even want to acknowledge their bigotry. Until White people admit there is racism in society and that we need to have a drag out, no holds barred conversation, nothing will ever change!
Come on thru Amanda. She is so right. It is not black people job esp black woman to cape or explain anything to racist or colorist people. They know what it is no passes or explanations hold them accountable for their actions! Let that mental burden off your shoulders!
No, I agree with Loni. People need to educate one another and listen to why this person is thinking what he said is ok. It's like a little kid leaving shoes right in front of the door and no one ever trips, but the parent keeps telling the kid to stop doing that. The child hasn't seen the consequence or been told the consequence, so why is he going to stop. It's hard when you've been raised a certain way to break that cycle. I've spoken to people who are racist. It's tough, but to get a point across, you have to do it. You're not going to get anywhere by just yelling over and over again.
How ??? She is right!! I’ve met people that don’t think they’re racist but they say “ I would never date a black person” and I ask why are you racist?? And they get in their feelings... and I’m like why ?? There’s definitely more to it.
Amanda is the only one who doesn't coddle these type of topics everybody else plays it too safe and all lives matters the situation its exhausting at times.
no name I meant it isn’t our responsibility to educate racists as POC ...the emotional/mental toll that it takes on people of colour is a lot. Everything Amanda said is true.
no name I agree 100% about standing up the part of the video I’m referring to is when Amanda says it shouldn’t always be the person of colour asking “why?” The racists says what they did. It shouldn’t always fall on our shoulders.
Amanda is right people know what racism is and knows what he is doing I’m not having a conversation ANYMORE I’m done with explaining to white people their racist ways
I told y'all Amanda was too real for this table 😭 why the hell do I need compassion and calmness with a racist when they didn't exhibit the same energy for me? PLEASE.
I hope Tamera is talking about everyone when she praises them for being calm. Because Black people do not need to be called out for being calm, as if that is an unusual thing. Thank you, Amanda, for asking them to clarify.
Cynthia Clemons and i hope she’s not insinuating black people need to be calm so massa dont judge us. We deserve to be mad and can act as such when warranted
You can be calm and mad at the same time. It’s just the actions that you put forth. I think she was meaning that having a yelling match wasn’t going to solve this issue or fueling a situation that is a very sensitive and emotional subject that could end up in violence.
I really wish the Mexican father would have responded with, “the same reason your ancestors came here from Europe.” But alas...I agree w Amanda. If you choose ignorance in 2020 that is your decision and not my job to educate you 🤷🏻♀️ If you’d like to discuss different views or positions in a non-racist and non-derogatory way I’m 100% willing to talk. But he knew exactly what he was doing. 🤦🏻♀️
When you’ve grown up in a home and a culture that supports this behavior, yes it is very much that people don’t know what’s racist. In his head he could be “America is great, why are you disrespecting America” instead of taking the concerns in stride to make a change. I agree with Amanda, it isn’t up to POC to educate anymore. What I disagree with is that conversations can’t be had. You can say “oh it’s 2020”, but in some people’s households and in this nation, it’s still 1960. Education is a key factor here. It’s something that we lack as a nation. Some people don’t have tv or computers. So while racism may be common sense to you, it may not be for them.
I feel like the other cohosts didn’t truly understand what Amanda was saying. Miscommunication Jeannie got a little agitated.😂😂. But I absolutely agree with Amanda stop coddling racists, no need to explain to them why their behavior was inappropriate THEY KNOW. Who has the time for that?? We’ve been doing it for way to long.
@@BATOOLESK , I saw that you left many comments that indicates that you totally misunderstood Amanda. I don't comprehend how you misunderstood Amanda when she was very clear. Amanda is totally against the racist, and she supported the "Mexican" man. Amanda's point is that the racist knows exactly what racism is, and she wasn't going to waste her time telling the racist bastard what racism is. (It's NOT the job of the oppressed people to tell the oppressors/racists what oppression or racism is. The oppressors/racists ALREADY KNOW what oppression/racism is).
Lorie Paul she said in the end she would mind her own business and let other people handle it , she shouldnt educate him she should stand up to him thats the difference
Amanda right. I’m not about to reach a racist how not to be racist. That’s not my job. First of all they racist so they going to listen to me. Plus that’s thousands of years they have to unlearn
We will get no where in the world with mentalities like that. Not everyone's thinks the same. And she said white people can deal with the white guy. Hello. . That's racists and segregation. Who really doesnt like who? Did you not watch the video? His ways are not his childrens so what makes you think it's his parents ways? You are assuming based on YOUR upbringings.
I 100% agree with Amanda. I a am a middle eastern living and going to school in Denmark, and I am constantly the one that has to explain to everyone, what is and isn’t racist. I always have to keep informed about what’s happening in the communities of all poc around the world, but people still don’t listen. It’s a burden to do so everyday, and I’m not even an adult yet, but I still feel obligated to spread my knowledge, to honor the hard work that has been put into diminishing racism by activists in the past. Allies pretty much don’t exist here, and the other poc have been brainwashed to believe that casual racism and microaggressions are ok.
Its called "THE REAL" but Amanda's the realest person on that damn table! The other ladies are always so disappointing when discussing race which is sad because yall the first diverse talk show & you might as well have been white women with your passive notions towards racial issues smh
Thank you Real cohost for finally letting all y'alls voices be heard! Now this is a great discussion about racism! Not just one person dominating the floor.
We don't have to go out of our way to teach them, but presented with an opportunity, we should. This meeting was supposed to be about the racist and toxic environment the students are expecting. It might surprise you when you make a difference by actually trying to understand others' thought process. It won't always be the case and we definitely don't have to be others' moral compass. We just have to try when it matters, like in these types of events. If it doesn't work out, then you KNOW you tried to deal with the situation the correct way. Also, think about it this way. There is a high probability that the man that made the racist comment is surrounded by people that think just like him. Do you really think those people will point out he's wrong? That's why he felt so confident making that statement. It's important to have conversations.
Kyleigh White that approach has to be used on a case by case basis, though. Yes, some people are truly ignorant and can be educated. But they have to want to be. Others know exactly how their racist actions and statements cause harm and they react one of two ways: 1) with aggression (verbal or physical) and defiance, or 2) by playing victim by claiming that those who try to educate them or who calmly express opposition are attacking them. I’ve experienced both types of racists. You have to know your audience, so-to-speak, and pick your battles. I think Amanda’s point is that black people and other POC have been educating racists for decades, this isn’t a brand new phenomenon. In this age of technology and information, most people can educate themselves with a few strokes on a keyboard in minutes. Some just don’t know where to start, but those who want to learn are usually not so hostile, while others don’t want to change. Either way, POC should speak up, but a lot of the responsibility needs to shift to non-racist white people. That man said what he said because he believed the white parents in the room would agree with and rally behind him. The only way he’ll learn is 1) if he’s willing to learn, and 2) if the white people he mistakenly thought shared his hateful opinion step up and explain why what he said isn’t ok and explain that most white people (hopefully) don’t think that way. They can lead by example. I also applaud the black father who spoke up. Hopefully it helped.
I’m with Amanda 100%. I went through that stage of “trying to explain” and “trying to communicate” too. Folks know what they’re doing and saying. I definitely won’t be wasting my breath to lecture a grown person on how to act right when they’re deliberately being disrespectful.
Amanda thank God for you sister!! You’re feeding them common sense but it seems like the other ladies on the panel are finding it hard to swallow. You’re absolutely right, no need to sympathise with perpetuators and try to calmly investigate why they utter racist remarks.
I'm on Amanda's side he did it thinking someone will applaud him but when everyone silenced him his ego got inflated. You cant fix a rotten grown man you overpower him and kick him out. His offenses should be treated with consequences thats the only way he could learn
He realized he was alone! That’s all he realized! Amanda you were so right here, thank you for speaking up!
YES YES YES HONEY! SHE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
Yes he thinks ALL WHITE people think the way he does!!
Lmfao he looked around like “y’all not gone have my back??? No! Dumbass!

@Will G it's not about who's right and who wins the argument. It's about realising that you are ALWAYS wrong when you're being racist and offensive. got it?
where can i watch the video?
I have been calm when I've experienced racism and have clapped back lol
It takes all kinds of kinds
I do agree with the same race needing to check each other. That's a good point
@@JK-zu1np and regardless how you speak racists are racists
I agree with Amanda ... I’m TIRED!! We are not explaining to racist people WHY that’s racist nor coddling them with a discussion! They will face consequences from here on out and that’s it
Mo Ross exactlyyyy!! It’s 2020 ain’t nobody got time for that!
Amanda's point is that we give racists too much credit and leeway when we assume that they do not know they're being racist. They know exactly what they're doing and saying, they simply DO NOT CARE. The racist does not have to label themselves racist for the fact to still remain that they are racist 🤷🏽♀️
Amanda (in this segment) was the literal definition of: image how tired we are
And I’m not even mad because people of color have every right to be tired of having to explain what is and isn’t racist. We’re only human, and we can only take so much 🤷♀️
Exactly!, I think that's Jeannie wasn't understanding when Amanda was explaining at the end
Agree 100%
Exactly, the burden to solve racism has been on poc's shoulders for FAR too long
Sorry but Amanda is 100% on this. It’s 2020 man, people know what’s racist and what’s not, people of colour shouldn’t have to take time out their day to explain what’s racist and what’s not. Who actually has time to explain all that.
Exactly!! I'm tired of having to explain to people like especially if you grown, you should know better
Frrrrrr I get that we need to explain to him why it’s wrong and stuff but we know when something is wrong when we steal we know it’s wrong but guess what we still do it cause people don’t care just like racist people don’t care and that’s the thing Amanda is saying that people don’t care to change sometimes which is why when we try to discuss they get offended when they are wrong
brian olivares exactly, those racist thoughts of his have been ingrained over the time, I don’t see how a 2 minute discussion is gonna change that.

It is not POC’s JOB to teach white people how to not be racist. White people can learn from us via research, books, personal relationships etc. and teach each other.
Arigato Kiss its not just white people who are racist boo
completely agree.
Calling us white people makes you a racist. . I've never in my life heard anyone referring to a race as white people or back people or asians other then from a black person. . White people don't talk like that for the most part. I've made it 30 years and I've never felt more uncomfortable in my life hearing how you guys all speak about white people. Its common for people to not realize what they are perpetuating. Like how narcissistic ppl don't realize they narcissistic
i said what i said. lol i feel that this gentlemen in this video knew what HE did was wrong. they're at a meeting for the same ignorant behavior that he just blurted out. i understand both of your points, but i'm not talking about what other racists feel or doesn't know or where it is bred from. this man knew it was wrong and he knew better. so i'm with Amanda i'm not educating anyone in 2020 (ESPECIALLY someone of his age). there has been way too many incidences around the world and there's an abundance of resources today to be educated in some way on racism.
It is taught. Some people may not think it’s wrong and they may be taught it’s wrong to not be racist
@Kelcey Thank You!
Lol girl
I agree with Amanda it’s not our job to teach someone how not to be racist.
So who will teach them?
Anna J idk but it isn’t our job.
I personally agree because i am exhausted and the burden shouldn’t be on POC but its hard to explain to to other POC sometimes.
But it is our job to connect with other people on this planet
Amanda is 💯! Thank god she’s on this show to educate the others. That man knows he was being racist and felt safe to be racist openly. THANK YOU AMANDA!!!
100% He knew he was being racist. He didn't/doesn't think there is anything *wrong* with being racist. That grown white man KNEW he was being RACIST.
I hope she stays on the show and doesn't get frustrated...
That’s a grown ass man lmaooo he knew exactly what tf he was doing & should’ve been escorted off the premises immediately

Exactly. Loni is so stupid. We don't need him to explain anything. gtfo racist.
Amanda is needed for this show she don’t sugar coat nothing
I`m with Amanda on this one: the other ladies are lowkey suggesting people of color should calm down and try to understnd racism .
Amanda Chatindo Exactly!
Amanda is the only one on this panel with enough courage to speak the truth.
her opinion was HORRIBLE she said she wouldnt back him up !! what if he was black she still wont back him up ?!

I agree 💯. I'm sorry but, he is wrong and he isn't ganna change at all. Having a talk does nothing some times. This isn't his country tbh bc whites stole it so him saying the comment wasn't okay at all
Yes lets holler and fight and perpetuate the stereotypes further smh..

Vee they do that to us Africans all the time n it’s very degrading
I do too and then I want to correct them and be like is Mexico the only spanish place in the world
It’s hard to keep calm, but I do agree with Loni that you should find out what made this person feel this way because it really could come from a place or ignorance or a bad experience that turned to labeling people or it was taught by an older generation before him. It’s happens to many races and it’s just not ok.
Vee Some racist individuals don’t take the issue seriously and purposely say blatant things knowing it will cause a reaction, I’m just trying to come up with a good comeback at this point.

Yep 👍
Betty didn’t step up lol. Why are we talking more about Betty than the black man who actually stood up??
The issue is though when some white people step up they get told it’s not their place to deal with these kinds of issues. I think that may be too simplistic.
I’m sorry but I only agree with Amanda on this one. A racist knows that they are racist and they are ok spreading their hate. loni has nothing to add to the table.
@ 😂😂😂
2:03 AMANDA IS HERE FOR POC. LONNIE KNOWS DAMN WELL IF THIS WAS A BLACK PERSON , SHE WOULD NOT BE SAYING HANDLE THIS WITH CALMNESS
No. MLK WAS THE HARSHEST CRITIC OF WHITE AMERICA.
Yes very well put actually, and Loni did mention there's occasions where you can sit them down and see. They were having a meeting and it's crazy someone was recording at the right time could you imagine if it didn't get caught on camera.

Return evil for evil to no one. Take into consideration what is fine from the viewpoint of all men. If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah."
Romans 12:17-19
Easier said than done of course.
He thought that PTA meeting was a Facebook comment section and he quickly was brought back to reality.
thank god amanda joined the show. imagine how off track and pointless this conversation would have gone without her intelligence. this is one of the first heavy topics that kept me interested in a long time
Right
YESS!! this is EXACTLY why they needed her!!
So truee
Right because they are trying to go off track now...and not listening to what shes saying...look at Jennie's face...like girl I get you but you are wrong...and Loni sitting there agreeing like she doesn't know whats going on...
I noticed that she gets under some people's skin but honesty sucks sometimes and she is just 100% honest. The reason why we still have these problems is because some people fool around and take it as a joke. She is very serious about these topica and osnt going to beat around the bush. I respect her deeply for that.
Amanda is definitely the host we didnt know we needed. She brings REAL to a whole new level!!
🙏👏👏🙏
I feel like FINALLY people are seeing what I knew all along.
I’m with Amanda people know what racism is stop treating them like their dumb THEY KNOW!
@@Sevkingblade Even IF that's the case why should the burden of education ALWAYS fall on the poc? It's not like the information doesn't exist.
We need more people to stand up to people like that !! Even if it's a friend or family member not just strangers.
....and THIS is why Amanda is needed on this show!
That sounds good in theory but unfortunately you have to be in the conversation and advocate your side
Alex Hallow
Amanda was right in saying we’ve been having this conversation for years. We’re going in circles at this point. People who want to be racist will be, whether I advocate for my side or not.
Not everyone has been involved in these conversations. It takes a team effort
Alex Hallow
We can agree to disagree.
@@alexhallow5119 The majority of the White community in the US doesn't even want to acknowledge their bigotry. Until White people admit there is racism in society and that we need to have a drag out, no holds barred conversation, nothing will ever change!
I love how Amanda keeps it REAL and keeps her foot on their necks lmaooo
Ikr
They like to be passive and surface layer in their responses to topics like this. Not Amanda. No no no she's gonna make you dig deeper.
aaliymah exactly! And I loveeee it
THIS DAMN SHOW NEEDED AMANDA!!!! OMG their conversations used to be soooooooo shallow when they discuss these topics
Come on thru Amanda. She is so right. It is not black people job esp black woman to cape or explain anything to racist or colorist people.
They know what it is
no passes or explanations hold them accountable for their actions! Let that mental burden off your shoulders!
I love that they added Amanda to the show & I love that she doesn’t back down or stray away from controversial topics.
Loni tried it, i actually agree with Amanda idk where everyone else’s mind was
Chanel Dolls that’s because everyone else is in interracial relationships.. so they don’t want to make it as big of an issue as it is
No, I agree with Loni.
MusicBoxAlsoWater But NONE of the people in that room were kids!
How ??? She is right!! I’ve met people that don’t think they’re racist but they say “ I would never date a black person” and I ask why are you racist?? And they get in their feelings... and I’m like why ?? There’s definitely more to it.
@@laurencameron3150 Not by age, but we don't know where anyone is developmentally. People are able to learn everyday, until the day we die.
Amanda is the only one who doesn't coddle these type of topics everybody else plays it too safe and all lives matters the situation its exhausting at times.
YESS AMANDA IT AIN’T OUR RESPONSIBILITY....
it is when ur child studies there I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO PROTECT MY CHILD
no name I meant it isn’t our responsibility to educate racists as POC ...the emotional/mental toll that it takes on people of colour is a lot. Everything Amanda said is true.
@@kasrenae8898 u dont need to educate them but u need to stand up to them like the black man did ! the meeting was literally about racism in school !
no name I agree 100% about standing up the part of the video I’m referring to is when Amanda says it shouldn’t always be the person of colour asking “why?” The racists says what they did. It shouldn’t always fall on our shoulders.
Kasrenae, don't waste your time.
Yes Amanda......Thank you for keeping it REAL. Sadly, it's difficult for the other ladies to do that!
PLEASE.
Exactly how can that white man not know that asking somebody to go back to their country is wrong???🤔
I think she was meaning that having a yelling match wasn’t going to solve this issue or fueling a situation that is a very sensitive and emotional subject that could end up in violence.
but the guy whom she was referring to wasn't black
I really wish the Mexican father would have responded with, “the same reason your ancestors came here from Europe.” But alas...I agree w Amanda. If you choose ignorance in 2020 that is your decision and not my job to educate you 🤷🏻♀️ If you’d like to discuss different views or positions in a non-racist and non-derogatory way I’m 100% willing to talk. But he knew exactly what he was doing. 🤦🏻♀️
Wow it’s crazy how they all are trying annoyed and rolling their eyes at what Amanda is saying, she’s 10000% correct!
I’m with Amanda here, nope I don’t have time to fix a grown person who knows right from wrong. That’s their job!
if she had a child in that school she wouldnt say that ! she'll do everything to fix this issue
Actual Wakandan girl you can’t point out a problem without a solution. And they they they are right anyways.
Actual Wakandan girl but if they are doing things like this then they obviously don’t.
LOVE AMANDA!!!!
She is just to “Real” to be on this show. Please give her her own platform.
I agree with Amanda 🤷🏽♀️
I totally feel what Amanda is saying. I’m on her side with this.
Its called "THE REAL" but Amanda's the realest person on that damn table! The other ladies are always so disappointing when discussing race which is sad because yall the first diverse talk show & you might as well have been white women with your passive notions towards racial issues smh
Whew Preach !!!!!
EXACTLY 💆🏻♀️
the fact that you have to teach someone how to NOT be racist is sad as hell!
Thank you Real cohost for finally letting all y'alls voices be heard! Now this is a great discussion about racism! Not just one person dominating the floor.
*love & light to everyone reading this* 🕊
Amanda takes the words right out of my mouth
Why must we teach grown ass adults right from wrong🤔
Yadriel Colon because they don’t know what right is. You can’t point out a problem without trying to find a solution.
@@kyleighwhite1409 ...an adult doesn't know that racism is wrong?
Adwoa Boateng they don’t understand how their thought process is wrong.
I didn’t realize how much this show needed Amanda until the recent race discussions.. whew chile!
Absolutely!!!!
I was TIRED of hearing the vapid and predictable Kumbaya talks!
