As someone who was a major tomboy when I was young, I am SO thankful that my parents cared enough about me to leave me a girl. Thank you Piers for standing up for “tomboys.” I know for sure if given the option in childhood, I probably would’ve wanted to transition due to being told that my interests were confusing and uncomfortable to others. Thankfully I grew up and learned to be comfortable with who I am. It’s painful to see the homophobia hidden within the argument. It’s also astonishing to realize the contradiction in the conversations surrounding gender from those who call themselves “trans activists.” We need more people to stand up for gender fluidity- who are supporting of that fluidity to not confuse biological differences. To push a child towards transitioning is to further convince that child that something is wrong with them- and that is heartbreaking.

I never needed to follow the crowd. Social media has children not wanting to live. The trans community claims that children won't want to live. If your child is claiming to harm themselves or others you would take them to a therapist or psychiatrist. They need group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy to get to the root of the problem. If they're depressed and get the surgery they'll still be depressed because there is more going on. If you feel trapped in the wrong body wait until you're 18. It's like a 16-year-old wanting to get married and parents say to wait until you're 18. You say you're in love. Then why rush to marry? If it's love it will be there 2 years from now. Otherwise, it's infatuation. Making a permanent decision about what may be phase young people need to slow down. Parents need to remember what it was like to be young and how they aren't the same person today as back then.
I'm a 24 and a tomboy (always have been). In high school, I was brainwashed into believing that i wasn't actually a girl because I was more masculine than all of my female peers. Today, I'm engaged to my fiancé, and if I'm blessed to be, I want to be a mother. So you were originally in the male gender of social groups, and had no interest in girly things, or company of girls? I had many female friends like this. A few were my neighbors, both turned out to become lesbians. The others were friends from a local skate park. Don't know how they turned out, but they dressed identical to boys. I never met a tomgirl tho, it was never a thing for a boy to dress like a girl and hang around the other girls and do girly things. I've never came across this phenomena in society. I just don't think girly girls feel comfortable with boys around them dressing and acting like that. I was a big time tomboy. Never wore anything girly, always tried to hide my chest once I developed, had very few female friends because they always did girly things, played just about every sport the boys played and then some. I even cut my hair real short at one point so I could get ready faster to hang with the boys and play sports easier. I wouldn't even shop for clothes on the girl's side, I always bought guy jeans and shirts. I mean if I had been doing all these things today as a kid/teenager with some of these teachers and parents I'd probably be on hormones and be on the schedule for surgery already. I constantly got teased back then about being a lesbian so I can only imagine what it'd be like today. Thank you Piers for standing up for “tomboys.” I know for sure if given the option in childhood, I probably would’ve wanted to transition due to being told that my interests were confusing and uncomfortable to others. Thankfully I grew up and learned to be comfortable with who I am. It’s painful to see the homophobia hidden within the argument. It’s also astonishing to realize the contradiction in the conversations surrounding gender from those who call themselves “trans activists.” We need more people to stand up for gender fluidity- who are supporting of that fluidity to not confuse biological differences. To push a child towards transitioning is to further convince that child that something is wrong with them- and that is heartbreaking.

I'm just like you. I'm a woman, a mom, and a tomboy. If I was a teen today a psychiatrist would tell me that I'm a male in a female's body. I've always been stubborn and not weak-minded. I never needed to follow the crowd. Social media has children not wanting to live. The trans community claims that children won't want to live. If your child is claiming to harm themselves or others you would take them to a therapist or psychiatrist. They need group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy to get to the root of the problem. If they're depressed and get the surgery they'll still be depressed because there is more going on.
If you feel trapped in the wrong body wait until you're 18. It's like a 16-year-old wanting to get married and parents say to wait until you're 18. You say you're in love. Then why rush to marry? If it's love it will be there 2 years from now. Otherwise, it's infatuation.
Making a permanent decision about what may be phase young people need to slow down. Parents need to remember what it was like to be young and how they aren't the same person today as back then.

Today, I'm engaged to my fiancé, and if I'm blessed to be, I want to be a mother. My older brother was the complete opposite, so made me look more of a tomboy, but we both have grown up to be 100% true to the genders we were born as. So you were originally in the male gender of social groups, and had no interest in girly things, or company of girls? I had many female friends like this. A few were my neighbors, both turned out to become lesbians. The others were friends from a local skate park. Don't know how they turned out, but they dressed identical to boys. I never met a tomgirl tho, it was never a thing for a boy to dress like a girl and hang around the other girls and do girly things. I've never came across this phenomena in society. I just don't think girly girls feel comfortable with boys around them dressing and acting like that. Its a weird double standard in our social interactions, in our behavioral functions that I'd like to understand more.

I was a big time tomboy. Never wore anything girly, always tried to hide my chest once I developed, had very few female friends because they always did girly things, played just about every sport the boys played and then some. I even cut my hair real short at one point so I could get ready faster to hang with the boys and play sports easier. I wouldn't even shop for clothes on the girl's side, I always bought guy jeans and shirts. I mean if I had been doing all these things today as a kid/teenager with some of these teachers and parents I'd probably be on hormones and be on the schedule for surgery already.
I constantly got teased back then about being a lesbian so I can only imagine what it'd be like today. Hell I even had lesbians and gay guys trying to tell me back then that I was hiding from myself and weird stuff like I should explore because I might find out this is where I belong. Oh and always the scary one to me, "we will be your family". I knew I had absolutely no interest in same-s*x stuff nor any interest in changing my parts in any way, but weak minded kids were very easily sucked into that world. If even only for "support" of others. Often times it is absolutely gr••ming and sprinkling glitter on that doesn't cover it nor change it.
That was almost 30yrs ago so I can only imagine the amount of pressure and stress and confusion the children of today are being put under. I wouldn't raise a child in today's society if you granted every last wish I've ever had and then some. Nope I'd rather take hot pokers to my eyes.

As a tomboy who has grown into a straight beautiful woman, I think the act of grooming teenagers to what they are not is dangerous. As a matter of fact, I think people shouldn’t be allowed to change sex until they’re adult and understands the implication of taking certain decisions. It’s scary what’s happening to children and this shouldn’t be allowed to continue.

As a fellow tomboy I agree. I've been told all my life that I should've been a boy due to my hobbies and personality. And for I while if believed that maybe I should be a boy but luckily I realized that gender is not defined by the way a person preferred lifestyle. I'm a girl and that is that.

In elementary school I was a tomboy , wore boys clothes , played sports and didn’t do any girly activities , i even told my parents I was a boy ! but when I went through puberty I changed started dressing up doing my hair and make up and the tomboy was gone because it was a PHASE ! kids go through phases and I’m so glad I didn’t have anyone twisting my mind and confusing me I figured myself out on my own
My boy wanted to be a dinosaur from around to 2-6 yrs old.. A T-Rex to be precise. He would not eat vegetables unless I sternly encouraged and would eat just the meat. One time taking delight at stealing my rare steak between his teeth and racing behind the sofa where he tried to eat it without the help of cutlery or fingers. He also chose to defecate behind the shed as part of his exploration of being a wild reptilian. Fortunately, we didn't proceed with the planned coccyx extension and forearm reduction operation procedures. His dental work was also postponed until the loss of his canine milk teeth. By the time his permanent teeth started to come through, he noticed a pretty blonde girl in his class that became the focus of his transition to a more mainstream boyhood and early puberty. Now he is in to the gym and bodybuilding. His accounts though follow a lot of men bodybuilders posing their work and effort on social media. My friend has inquired if he may be gay. yeah it is true. Like piers said. There a lot of woman is actually tomboys at young age. And there also a lot of guy is actually kinda feminime when young age. But as they grew older, they perefectly fine and becoming what gender they are born is. Those famine boys become man, married to a woman, having kid and live a normal live even though they behave a bit feminim but they completely acknowledge they are man and act like man. And those tomboys, when they grew adult they perfectly become woman and some of them even becomeing very fine woman who know how to make up and dress only that they are little bit harsh because of their personality.
