    Bill was talking about doing a show with only 3 people in the audience. He said that the owner/promoter came at him with negativity and it made Bill mad. It reminded me as a musician doing a Friday night show at a big club that featured live music and a Friday Fish Fry in an adjoining room. Hardly anyone showed up for the music or the fish. The owner came down on us saying things like “I thought you guys were good and would draw a crowd” His harsh and demeaning attitude prompted me to say, “I heard that your fish at theFish Fry were good and could draw a crowd. Maybe it’s not the music or the fish that is the problem”. We never played that venue again lol

He's still an angry Bostonian to me, but I see some improvement now that he has to figure out how to raise a child without passing down any kind of mental trauma throughout future generations. I think the second guy was so upset because the comedian calling attention to the fact that no one showed up to their show is pretty embarrassing for him as the organizer. Of course, that's the organizer's fault, and he had to expect the comedian to do what was necessary to try to get the small crowd into his set.

      and I didn't even really get the idea of diffrent cultures before I watched the show.
      My mom watched it with me sometimes but since she had to read the subtitles I can't blame her for not enjoying it.
      so should my parents have never ever let me watch tv in the first place?
      never allowed me to be a fan of some artist?
      only taking in my families values and never checked them against others?
      or god forbid, make experiences on my own.

    Ya gotta have extra ordinary faith, like Jona swallowed by the whale faith. Few have that kinda faith. Ya almost gotta be a lil physcho to have that kinda faith, not hope, faith. We all have hope, ya don't have to try for that. Ya gotta work hard for faith, like there's a pay off even tho you've been doing whatever for what seems like forever. We grow up thinking that the definition of stupidity is expecting a different result from doing the same thing over & over, yet that's pretty much what ya gotta do. You can say the same thing over & over for years & then one day ya say it a lil differently & it's funny. Maybe a fresh crowd brought it on. Or maybe you were so sick of saying it, that made it funny. It could be a joke, a song, whatever & the only people willing to relentlessly chase that dream are the ones that can't see themselves doing anything else, no plan B. When ya think about the insanity of it, it's kinda like extreme sports; Cliff diving, Surfing with Great Whites & shit like that, only with them you can end quickly. The lure of the arts are very long suffering till its finally over. or a new life begins.

    • @Futureacquiescence
      @Futureacquiescence Рік тому

      This is such a good point. It’s not even just the arts… if you want to be a lawyer or a doctor, you have to toil and study in complete obscurity, ignore your friends who go and get corporate jobs and climb up the ladder. You don’t see any benefits right away or not for a long long time. Like if you want to be a surgeon, you have to study and get into med school, be an intern, etc. it’ll be years before you’ve actually achieved anything. You have to have faith that you won’t fail, that it’s worth it, that you won’t drop out or lose your mind before you see any real success.
