  • his 18th Annual Katz Policy Lecture will examine emerging and existing policies associated with mental health and aging and their implications for older adults and their loved ones.
Our keynote speaker, Matthew Fullen, Ph.D., LPCC, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech, will discuss recent developments in Medicare policy related to older adult mental health care, and opportunities for stakeholders in the behavioral health and aging services sectors. Following the keynote address, a reactor panel of industry experts will provide their insights and engage in a discussion on the ramifications of these mental health-related Medicare policies in regard to older adults, the professionals who serve them and the communities to which they belong.
The Katz Policy Lecture was established in 2007 in honor of the late Sidney Katz, MD, Benjamin Rose’s Distinguished Scholar. Dr. Sidney Katz - physician, scientist, teacher, mentor, author and public servant - pioneered the concept of active aging, championed the development of the field of geriatric care, and was responsible for the creation of local and national programs to enhance quality of life and improve long-term services for older adults.
