Ones I know collect paper, bills, newspapers, coupons etc
Fear of missing a valuable paper, a need to ck every piece. Bags and bags of old bills etc. Fear of someone stealing their info.
A need to hold onto ex excessive pencils. I don't want b to give away or throw away because I may have to buy again in the future. Example. 2 tubs of desk supplies,
I work with them to organize helps some and shows them the volume of what they are keeping.
A danger leads to poor maintenance of home

I wish he'd answered the part of the last question that addressed why it's harder to remove children from a dangerous hoarding home environment than it is to remove animals from an animal hoarder.
I'd also like to know if and when pets can be removed from object hoarder (not animal hoarder) homes. Object hoarding and filthy conditions are dangerous to pets, whether it's one pet or many.

My mother is a narcissistic hoarder. Listening to this lady speak got me triggered.

A great presentation, but the impact on the hoarder's family was completely negated. Having a hoarder impacts the other family members mental health, takes a toll on family relationships and when the hoard extends onto property that does not belong to the hoarder, the costs are astronomical. My hoarder knew a roof was leaking for 3 years, and did not even put a tarp on it. In the past year I had had to spend over $40,000 on neglected repairs and maintenance, while the hoarder continues to buy, buy, buy.
    I am very angry.
It is no fun at all to spend your holidays clearing out rodent contaminated, hoarded out buildings, renting dump trucks to take it away. There are at least 8 more dump trucks to go. Yes, he has a mental illness, but that should never be an excuse for an over flowing septic tank.
I 100% understand Scott's frustration with his mother. When are his feelings validated?

It’s so strange that hoarders can’t throw away an article or a bill with information easily googled.

Would u say it's strange a person with one leg to use a chair with wheels on it.... when they can just hop around? No. Please don't comment on a person's disability in such a way when you don't understand it. You may only be doing more harm than good. #endthestigma
