good choice by them, unreal is known for having poor modding flexibility, and as we experienced on the older assetto, their engine is really good for it
I'll write down some additional information that some of you may missed because comes out of an Italian interview that Marco did a few weeks ago: 1- New propetary engine 2- New graphics, new physics, new AI 3- interviewer said: did we also have a carreer mode in EVO? Marco said: Much more.... 4- New asphalt and weather algorithm 5- vr support day one 6- also out on consoles but no date 7- very long support to the game 8- ACC content and support surely until end of 2024 but no further info on 2025 (so that let's me think about a Q4 2024 release for EVO) 9- Marco said: When we launch the game, you will find out how much we are crazy...
@@lor7780 yes they talk about about mods in the first assetto corsa and Marco said that they are conscious of what mods do to their game, and they are proud of it, so I think that they implement the mods maybe in a second phase. He also said that they use mods like a benchmark to confront evo, and he said that they don't fear the confront between ac mods vs evo, because they are proud of what EVO is, a step forward in every aspect.
Curious if you know if EVO game will provide Rolling Starts or Formation laps? Assetto Corsa 1 does not have this, only standing starts. Thanks for your list.

After seeing the rainfx in modded AC (speaking strictly from a visual standpoint of rain on the windshield/driver and passenger side windows, how it streaks, how the windshield wipers interact with the rain, etc..), this will be very hard to beat. I hope Kuno can at least match this. I am cautiously optimistic (but prepared to be let down at the same time).

The surface shaders look incredible. You can taste the clear coat, feel the alcantara, smell the leather. The hint of factory orange peel. I'm a VR guy, but I think I'm going to have to play on panel for a while when it releases to drink some of this in.
As a new Acc player and new wheel owner. I cannot wait. I started off in GT7 and I couldn’t exactly “feel” where the car was or what the tires were doing until I swapped over to ACC. I’m completely blown away by this game and I can’t wait to see what they do with this new game

We are going to have to wait a few years for the modding community to flourish I would say. At release, the go-to modded racing game will still be AC. I just hope AC Evo has a much more comprehensive out-of-the-box experience and not simply just a "modding testbed".
Man, I will be so immersed in being inside the car while in VR with this Sim. Really can't wait to enter this world soon. It looks more like GT7 for now, but with the power of PCVR headsets and newer GPUs, we're truly going to reach peak VR graphics and immersion on races.

As for the new proprietary engine, apparently Kunos couldn't get the tire physics they wanted out of Unreal.. so returning to the in-house engine that looks like it has been really revamped will sport a new physics engine that presumably will allow Kunos to push the physics further than ever! If the game plays (and looks) as well as those screenshots, we are in for a ride-and-a -half! I can't wait!!!!

Nope, that “shed“ is actually there since the work they did over the winter. It‘s related to the digitilasation project that should be finished in 2025 or 2026.
This is the worst way to judge a racing game, we have seen shots like this from Forza and the like for the last 20 years. These are not actual shots while driving in game.
Yes, but assuming these are rendered in engine, it shows what they can do. Which is match or exceed the visuals of competitors. However, putting all this out at buttery frame rates is more important, as is all the other features, physics & FFB. It also confirms some big features - day/night, rain & some of the content cars & trakcs. At the very least this is pretty encouraging.
Indeed. Screen shots before release cannot be trusted at all. That said, I expect AC Evo to have much better physics and better ffb. I don't care about graphics. But I know AC Evo will have much better tire physics and ffb. I'm good with that. We won't know at all about the physics and ffb until we feel it with our own equipment. I'll be whipping out my credit card the very minute I find out AC Evo is out! me me me me me! I want!
Looking at the models in detail, you can still see where there are shortcuts taken but they are covered by the PBR shaders. The subsurfacing of the lights is really cool. I'm glad they are returning to the KS Engine, it has been long overdue an overhaul. It's nice to know my system which is like 6/7 years old now is still in the recommended spec list 🙏
Those screenshots look like straight out of Gran Turismo 7, really impressive! It will be interesting to see how well optimised AC EVO will be on launch. Edit. Also I hope they some kind of support for mod developers, Imagine if OG AC mods could be brought on the new game, not having to be built back up from zero.
Everything is trying to catch up to Gran Turismo 7. The FFB, VR, track counts, and vehicle counts and community liveries in Gran Turismo 7 is just lapping everything else.

Dude I got a 4080 super just in time! Haha it legit shows up today. This game showing up and being talked about near release and it being on steam right now was a sign that I made the correct choice haha. You can tell with the paint and the reflections my 4080 super will be pushed to its limits. I'm really wondering now how intensive this game will be. Imagine the type of power you may need for vr lol.
It'll really come down to optimization. My povo-spec PC runs some modern things like Cyberpunk at incredible frame rates for what it is, but some weird little retro indy games struggle to get 60fps. I'm a little leery of it being a proprietary engine for that reason, but for physics its the best move I think.
The real question is how the game looks when rendering frames. I have seen a lot of racing games with great stills but the actual video resolution not so good. My hope is the Evo overcomes the lackluster graphics that were present in both AC and ACC

No they won't. iRacing has less the details and would still tank this game in player count. If their multi-player is same as ACC and Career mode is a miss it'll be less played. But they claim to have reworked the AI so that would be an attraction.

I wonder if the increase in fidelity will make it more difficult for modders. Even the very limited information Kunos has released on the graphics and physics functions seem pretty intense!
Pretty funny to see people get all hyped up about how ACE is so detailed with the car models now, but yet, GT7 has been doing this since it released. It’s great to see that racing games are finally doing the right thing by making sure the models are as detailed as possible. Hopefully Forza takes notice and goes back to their roots and doesn’t continue this cartoon level of “realism”. Thank GOD they got the wet tracks correct on ACE. I don’t know why so many games struggle with this.
Look AC EVO requirements... Not even close... With a 3080ti or 4070 you'll be more than fine even for some 4K visual pleasure against AI where high fps don't matter
It would be great too see AC make a game that competes with Forza Motorsport and GT where we can upgrade cars and customize them with proper progression with the ability to branch out to different forms of Motorsport
To me, this is the most interesting screen shot...and I find it odd no one else seems to be commenting on it much anywhere. I wonder if this means we will have some kind of more advanced damage model, where the bonnet/ hood can crumple and we will be able to see the engine. Seems kind of odd to me to model the engine if we will never see it. And I don't think they would go to the bother of modeling it just for a "show room", that would be a lot of effort for some thing cosmetic that barely anyone ever uses.

looks good! doesn't look incredible for stills but it looks like a significant stepup from ACC, though CSP/AC still looks more realistic in this department. To succeed in the long run ACEVO needs to be the perfect platform for modders to work from, thats the reason for AC's lifespan.
The modelling seems a notch behind Gran Turismo, at same level of Forza Motorsport, no surprise giben the forgiving specs requiriments. But honestly it doesn't matter that much.
The only thing I am looking forward is to see how good these images will go up against GT7 Vr2 and I have high hopes for it! Amazing details already shown.
The vehicle models look great, the only issue I have with any of the screen shots is the grass... It looks like they're just using billboard textures, at least for most of it

I would t believe it just yet - renders look always good but remember, Toy Story took hours to render one frame back in a day. Running it at 60fps with RT won’t be easy and sacrifices will have to be made
same here, the gfx are nice to see (especialy for replays) , but while racing i just want super fluid fps in VR. ACC dont run well in VR and sometimes even crashes my pc and i have a 4090. So i went to iracing, but AC Evo could bring me back.
I have a 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio . Not sure if the GT AM has paddle shifters. But, looks almost exactly like it. I bet if they can get some ray tracing going, it might even look like the took a picture of the interior!!
personally, i dont want raytracing. we can get pretty good looking games without raytracing. or DLSS. and then we can have good performance and VR support too. but as long as its still optimized and works well with said features turned off, im fine with them being included. but pretty much every game lately that has them, basically NEEDS them to be playable. and thats not ok imho.
its bak to an in house engine like ac1. so im hopeful. unless they have decided to go raytracing and dlss requiring, like a lot of games lately. which generally means no optimization, and terrible vr. but as i said, im optimistic. at least its not unreal engine like acc.

They really need to get Ilja Jusupov involved, assuming he’s even willing (he makes $50k per month off Patreon alone). With CSP physics, AC is the absolute best combination of FFB/tire model/aero model/suspension kinematics. I don’t care about how good the stitching looks on the wheel (that I’ll turn off anyway in-game).
it was a good decision by them to show an oldish car and an H pattern shifter. people like me dont have much interest in modern sports cars, especially electric. old 90's cars with H pattern are so much fun and mostly what i play assetto corsa 1 for.
It looks fantastic but I’m hoping it’s more than just graphics and the same, new approach to optimizations and dynamic realism, damage, livery sharing. GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCES and customizations of interior if possible
Graphics are honestly overrated tbh I care more about gameplay and immersion. That's what keeps me playing Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series, NR2003 etc to this day.

I hope they have an easy to use tool for hosting severs inbuilt. Also good ui like content manager or even like Project cars 2 with a career mode.
I think having a CM like setup for servers and mod install is almost a necessity for it at this point.

For anyone worried about their pc not being able to run it, Kunos kept in mind to make the game run smoothly as they are using an in house engine.

The texture is still a little better on GT7, but I'm sure Kunos will polish it. I also hope they add full path trace option, not just ray trace.

I wonder if this means we will have some kind of more advanced damage model, where the bonnet/ hood can crumple and we will be able to see the engine. Seems kind of odd to me to model the engine if we will never see it. And I don't think they would go to the bother of modeling it just for a "show room", that would be a lot of effort for some thing cosmetic that barely anyone ever uses.

I don't know if it's been confirmed, but it looks as though the reflections on the cars are Ray Traced, which is nice to see.

looks good! doesn't look incredible for stills but it looks like a significant stepup from ACC, though CSP/AC still looks more realistic in this department. To succeed in the long run ACEVO needs to be the perfect platform for modders to work from, thats the reason for AC's lifespan.
I don't think it's the best graphics Ive seen in a racing game but it looks good enough and the car models seem authentic where it counts.
The modelling seems a notch behind Gran Turismo, at same level of Forza Motorsport, no surprise giben the forgiving specs requiriments. But honestly it doesn't matter that much.
Looking forward to this, Just hoping my aging system can run it.

The vehicle models look great, the only issue I have with any of the screen shots is the grass... It looks like they're just using billboard textures, at least for most of it

ok, im hyped now. they have put VR support as a priority. this is damn good news. i suspect this game is going to be one of the rare games releaed in recent times that is actually optimized.
I would t believe it just yet - renders look always good but remember, Toy Story took hours to render one frame back in a day. Running it at 60fps with RT won’t be easy and sacrifices will have to be made

same here, the gfx are nice to see (especialy for replays) , but while racing i just want super fluid fps in VR. ACC dont run well in VR and sometimes even crashes my pc and i have a 4090. So i went to iracing, but AC Evo could bring me back.

personally, i dont want raytracing. we can get pretty good looking games without raytracing. or DLSS. and then we can have good performance and VR support too. but as long as its still optimized and works well with said features turned off, im fine with them being included. but pretty much every game lately that has them, basically NEEDS them to be playable. and thats not ok imho.

its bak to an in house engine like ac1. so im hopeful. unless they have decided to go raytracing and dlss requiring, like a lot of games lately. which generally means no optimization, and terrible vr. but as i said, im optimistic. at least its not unreal engine like acc.

They really need to get Ilja Jusupov involved, assuming he’s even willing (he makes $50k per month off Patreon alone). With CSP physics, AC is the absolute best combination of FFB/tire model/aero model/suspension kinematics. I don’t care about how good the stitching looks on the wheel (that I’ll turn off anyway in-game).

it was a good decision by them to show an oldish car and an H pattern shifter. people like me dont have much interest in modern sports cars, especially electric. old 90's cars with H pattern are so much fun and mostly what i play assetto corsa 1 for.

It looks fantastic but I’m hoping it’s more than just graphics and the same, new approach to optimizations and dynamic realism, damage, livery sharing. GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCES and customizations of interior if possible
The lighting, although fine, seems traditionally rasterized to me. An RT option would be cool for future hardware.

I care more about gameplay and immersion. That's what keeps me playing Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series, NR2003 etc to this day.
