After many years together and several years of watching EDB together, my beloved kitty took his final journey yesterday. Thank you for streaming something lighter to help pass the hours, Emily. He found your voice familiar enough to relax with me throughout the day and I think that helped him go gently in the end. There is something comforting in knowing this place he and I frequented together will still be here.
I passed out watching the stream and woke up to a gifted membership! I don’t know who you are, but I am eternally grateful! I wish I knew who you are so I can just say thank you to you personally! Now I’m gonna subject myself to all the previous member streams. You’ve blessed me and cursed me lol. but seriously thank you!
I can honestly say during the johnny and heards court case I only watched Emily as she answers the questions we need answering and made it so easy to understand how the American courts work. Xx
Thank you members for making this happen! I have wanted to see Emily read sidebars since they were released! Thank you Emily for the stream! catching up on the replay now!
So when I saw Runkle do a video on this yesterday, my first thought was ‘Hey, I wonder if Emily is gonna cover this.’ I’m so glad you did! I needed this laugh today!!
We have a saying "you can't whip cream out of shit", clearly their client made it impossible for them to take any effective legal action which is unfortunate for them. I was wondering, how would have they coped, had they had Johnny as a client?
Just need to tell everyone that my dog literally lolled at EDBs squeaky voice effect 😭 she was chillin on the floor but then lifted her head, stared at the screen, went "HAROUMMM" and then did her laugh-face panting thing she does when stuff is funny to her. It was amazing 😂
Sadly so many people are regurgitating second hand information without looking into for themselves, which is really obvious when you have seen the trial and all the evidence...
In fairness... This is a fantastic resource for people becoming lawyers. A - they learn hearsay B - if a law student doesnt lose their mind reading all this. They might not be a great lawyer and it's indicative that they have more learning to do C - they should have the fear of Beelzebub in their hearts that they never want to be like bredehoft in an example to other students and lawyers. Edit: corrected typos
One of the UA-cam lawyers, Attorney Bri, said in a live stream with someone (I forget who) that she watched the trial, wrote down all the objections, looked them up, used them in one of her trials, and won!!! Definitely great education 👏👌
10:50 we lost 2 dogs the last couple of years. We've had them both since they were puppies. One I had to bring to be put down and I have never sobbed as hard as I did pulling into that vet office just staring at her face. Even thinking of her name sometimes brings tears to my eyes she has been gone 3 years this summer.. Tearing up as we speak. The other dog was put down as well this past February. My mom brought him, it felt cruel to keep him alive anymore. He has a huge tumor in his side that just kept growing, open wounds that wouldn't close, he had to eat his food a certain way so he wouldn't throw up, and so on. Buca passed is my mom's arms and Nakita passed in my arms. Its a sadness you don't get til you are dealing with it personally
As a replay crew person I’m gutted that I rarely catch streams bc a chance for a gifted membership is so cool! Not surprised EDB does neat stuff like that.
@@kardiojunkeeI have read all sidebars, and they haven't been confronted with it. I think judge A should have. Ben Rottenborn was surprised when he saw AH walk past him and go out of court. I hope at least her own team told her not to do that again

not just that but the sheer amount of times she said i don't think that's the way it is after being told that's the way it is. Keep in mind there is a lot of pre trial stuff that the judge had to deal with from her too. 0.o
@@Lazrael32 Her emails back and forth with Depp's team during pretrial were so aggravating to read. Seems like part of her schtick is to frustrate the opposition to their wit's end.
Well that was the part of her strategy, she did everything in her power to add stuff she wanted to, even if she shouldn't (or legally couldn't). Lots of lawyers act that way if I were to judge by several trials I watched. It's scummy AF, but if it works, nobody bats an eye. This time it failed.

The way you broke these objections down was just outstanding. Thank you!! We’ve never met but damn if I don’t want to have a beer with you just once!
The sidebars are amazing- they highlight so much. Even in the testimony, I notice more in the transcripts than I did watching. Amber was so focused on referencing her own past statements. That's interesting. Referencing past statements and referencing past experiences are two totally different things. It's just solidifies that this was her plan for a long time. Also, in writing, her 'script' stands out. Her testimony absolutely sounds like chunks out of a movie transcript. It's so scary that people like this are out there, just roaming the earth with us and we could encounter them at any moment. It's truly terrifying!
If you do this again, you should play the actual trial, on like 1.5 speed, and then when they do the sidebar, go into the sidebar conversations :) relive the trial on a different level
I am so happy to be on the replay re-watch crew. I missed so much because chat was so fun and lively during the livestream. Elaine's "I didn't know" reminded me of those people in high school who tried to pull that 💩. Some got away with it, depending on the teacher. Judge A really came through with the no BS teacher role. "I don't CARE if you didn't know, Ms. Bredehoft. This is your responsibility "
Elaine is a mystery. I did feel sorry for her during the trial, because having A.H. as a client must be absolute hell. But especially the interviews Elaine gave after the trial was over, showed that she isn't a nice human being herself. Her behavior after the trial and now during these sidebars really makes me wonder how she became a well established lawyer in the first place. Her behavior and the many mistakes she made during and after this trial are very unprofessional. I just don't get it. Now the only person I still do feel sorry for is our beloved Mr. Rottenborn. Having A.H. as a client and being forced to work with unprofessional Elaine must have infuriated him and absolutely worn him down at the same time.
Y'wanna know the worst of it. Elaine was deemed one of the /best/ defense lawyers in civil court for the state/region she represented. Shows how much that standard is worth.
@@QargZerI didn't like Rottenborn during the trial, but working with A.H. must have been very difficult and infuriating. And then trying to work with a colleague who doesn't seem to understand the most basic legal terms like hearsay, present sense impression etc must be incredibly infuriating. And to top it all off during closing arguments she used basically all of the little time they had left and left Rottenborn with a few minutes. He must have been fuming inside.

That is actually quite contradictory. If Elaine was as inept as you say, why would anybody in Johnny Depp's side earn all this praise? Don't get me wrong, I am Camille's biggest fan. I just think that she earned it for way more than you claim.
@@renx81 Both can be true, Depp’s side had the harder job x1000. All Amber’s side had to do was keep enough doubt in the jury’s mind that JD _could_ have abused her, even once, and there’s no way of knowing either way. But Amber’s performance, submitting falsified evidence, using two corrupt psychologists and their manipulative tactics didn’t work in their favour.
@@funkyfranxLiterally if she had just stuck with saying that Depp verbally abused her - that's it! That's all she had to do to win her case! Literally it!

So it seems like Elaine was not just a dummy, which it seemed at many times, she was obtuse and insistent. Like a dog with a bone only the bone was usually rotten. She is like a pebble in your shoe, wears u down over time. This is an intentional strategy and i bet it works for her often. It just didnt work here because AH was not believed and the evidence showed she was the abuser.

It was so serious and yet bordering on farce. If I had not witnessed it I would not have believed AH’s lies & Elaine’s shenanigans. The sidebars are revealing how underhand her actions really were. Also it’s hilarious with hindsight. In some ways Elaine appears out of her depth. Almost feel sorry for her.
Just came through because I saw you in the Netflix special. I remember how well you covered the trial and I am super happy that you were included in the doc. So dope!
I don't understand why Elaine would think that acting annoyed and incompetent would make her look good to the jury. It just came off as her not having any faith in her client so she had to use underhanded ways to get the information she wanted. Seeing that this was planned on her part only makes her look worse at her job. I do think it's a bit sad that court is a lot of showmanship instead of facts since the lawyers likeability is a big part of what a jury will base their opinion off.
Thank you so much for this video! Had such a good time watching it. I followed the trial when it happened, but I only recently discovered your channel. I always wondered what they talked about on sidebar. Tysm!!!!

This would be amazing read by you and another Law-tuber, or two. I followed this entire case. It’s how I found you. I was enthralled during, and intrigued for a long time after the trial ended, so this is fun to hear a year later 🎉
I I think the reason AH kept testifying about what JD might be thinking or whatever is because her goal was to make him look as bad as possible. Also, it’s possible she did things like recording him when drunk because she wanted to humiliate him, not out of concern that he wouldn’t remember.
Typically, but not always. Abusers will [in a mental context] try to show how they know what's /best/ for the person they're abusing. So when she's trying to explain what JD was thinking, it was just showing that she thought she knew JD better than JD knew JD. Which ties into the 'I know what's best for you'. The other part of it is. She took the pictures and recordings to spin them in a way that makes JD look like he's in need of help. Which, while he might have been, it wasn't from what he was already going through. It was her help. JD's side of the argument is that she is using the pictures to make him look like a drunk, drug addled abuser because of the stereotype. Whereas, in reality. The abuse was from her, because she was trying to manipulate the narrative and gaslight him slowly.

Condolences on your loss. What is remembered, lives.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself.
😿
I passed out watching the stream and woke up to a gifted membership! I don’t know who you are, but I am eternally grateful! I wish I knew who you are so I can just say thank you to you personally! Now I’m gonna subject myself to all the previous member streams. You’ve blessed me and cursed me lol. but seriously thank you!
Wonderful! Have fun!!!
You have such a cool name. I'm glad you got a gifted membership!
What a wonderful way to wake up 😄
Turns out Amber's side acted way more scummy than we originally thought. Who would have guessed?
The fact they managed to find a way to lower my expectations for them any lower is a miracle in and of itself
Me me me! 😂 I suspected 😂😂

“I’m trying here.” “But I said ‘What if anything!’” Yep, I totally expected off camera to be worse. 😂
I have to admit, in general, I do like being correct. However in this case the Schadenfreude of it all is even beyond my needs.🤣
Judge should have gotten an award for making it through this trial.
Are all the sidebars Members Only?
So when I saw Runkle do a video on this yesterday, my first thought was ‘Hey, I wonder if Emily is gonna cover this.’ I’m so glad you did! I needed this laugh today!!
SAME!!!!
Same! I watched Runkles vid and was hoping EDB was gonna cover this and boom here it is!
Same!! 😂
I am watching Runkle next!!
you have to take your hat off to Amber Heard’s legal team for proving Johnny Depp innocent!
They had a lot going for them including Heard herself.
Not something you want to add to your resume, but yes they were crucial to the verdict.😉
Honestly, I thought Depp's team even having cross-examination was just running up the score.
We have a saying "you can't whip cream out of shit", clearly their client made it impossible for them to take any effective legal action which is unfortunate for them.
I was wondering, how would have they coped, had they had Johnny as a client?
Derek is a bot.
Watching this stream reminded me how much fun we had together during this trial.
Aww I love this ❤🐾❤️🐾❤️
That’s hysterical!!
My cat responded too, to that 😂😂😂
I’m seeing so much more defense for Amber online & I feel like I’m being gaslit 😭 like did we all watch the same trial & see the same evidence?
Sadly so many people are regurgitating second hand information without looking into for themselves, which is really obvious when you have seen the trial and all the evidence...
If you only knew the full extent...
Covid
Ukraine
Climate change
Capitalism
Money
Debt
I think _they_ were gaslit. By Amber Heard, which is super embarrassing
We all didn't watch the same trial bc AH supporters didn't watch the trial 😂
Some people will believe her forever, no matter what evidence they see. Stubbornly not budging in your viewpoint is sadly all too common
I love how much Barlow and Heard have tried to spin this when we can just read the court documents now.
And I bet even then they STILL go with their bogus narrative 🙄 😅
They'll still be people who are just as emotionally unstable who believe their garbage because they relate to them.
After seeing these side bars it made me realize I could NEVER be a judge. Sounds exhausting AF
It’s like dealing with dramatic toddlers all day long 😅, I wouldn’t be able to do it

This is a fantastic resource for people becoming lawyers.
A - they learn hearsay
B - if a law student doesnt lose their mind reading all this. They might not be a great lawyer and it's indicative that they have more learning to do
C - they should have the fear of Beelzebub in their hearts that they never want to be like bredehoft in an example to other students and lawyers.
Its a sadness you don't get til you are dealing with it personally
thanks members for prompting this gem for the rest of us! Emily, this is great.
As a replay crew person I’m gutted that I rarely catch streams bc a chance for a gifted membership is so cool! Not surprised EDB does neat stuff like that.
I agree. Being in a totally different time zone sucks!
Same! I’m in Aus and it’s hard…. I will hopefully get a membership for my bday next week!!
There is never enough of the AH vs Depp trial!!!! NEVER!!!! I want all the side bars that ever existed for this

I wonder if they ever brought up AH’s bad behaviour when she left the witness stand and stormed pass her lawyers to walk out of the courtroom 🤔
@@kardiojunkeeI have read all sidebars, and they haven't been confronted with it. I think judge A should have. Ben Rottenborn was surprised when he saw AH walk past him and go out of court. I hope at least her own team told her not to do that again

All I hear is
Elaine- “Ms. Vasquez”
Emily- “It’s Vasquezzzzz”.
Damn. Elaine was even worse than we saw. How dare she act naive to Judge A.
not just that but the sheer amount of times she said i don't think that's the way it is after being told that's the way it is.
Severe lack of trial experience
At the rates she charges, Elaine could give a crap.
OMG GIRL, YOU ARE ON FIRE! I so agree...the older I've gotten the less i want to "try new things" ive found the perfect one! You are so fun to listen to!

Rottenborn also did some rotten stuff... Not as bad as Elaine and amber... But he did some sketchy stuff as well
@@QargZerI didn't like Rottenborn during the trial, but working with A.H. must have been very difficult and infuriating.
@@vxfusion6975 Elaine's not known for her trial work, she's known for getting an insane percentage of her cases to settle or dissolve without having to go to court.
I hate to say it, but I think her steamroll tactics might have worked better with a different kind of judge.
WOW did I miss hearing you say “ELAINE 😒” Lmao
Thank you for making this stuff so fun and interesting! I also LOVE the fact that I don’t need any previous knowledge of courts or law to watch and enjoy your videos - but thanks to you, I leave with a little bit more of that every time 😊

I had no idea how seriously inept Elaine was….and Camille earned her money with this case.
And the partnership, and the promotion, and the internet fame, and the--- The list goes on.
@@renx81 the opponent can be inept and the person they are against can still be stellar. There’s some cases where it’s a good lawyer versus a shitty lawyer and the good one lowers themselves to not wholly fuck over the shit one (aka brooks where the da’s could have definitely gone harder but didn’t because brooks was pro se) but if the good lawyer doesn’t lower themselves to that level and still goes to the best of the abilities that makes them great even compared to garbage

I said it during the trial but i will say it again, Judge A has the patience of a saint
Elaine and her exasperation and eye rolling when she would get called for sidebars. So disrespectful
"It's not an out of court statement, she's on the stand"
Me: Permission to go scream in the hallway, Your Honor?
So it seems like Elaine was not just a dummy, which it seemed at many times, she was obtuse and insistent. Like a dog with a bone only the bone was usually rotten. She is like a pebble in your shoe, wears u down over time. This is an intentional strategy and i bet it works for her often. It just didnt work here because AH was not believed and the evidence showed she was the abuser.

I had so much fun listening to this! Objectively, a video about sidebars from a trial that happened months and months ago might not sound that interesting, but it's actually fascinating! The tea of it all 😅
I rewatched your coverage again this month (for the 4th time!) and the amount of times you were like “I wanna know what they’re saying!!!” “I wish we could hear side bars” “do it in open court!”, and now you get to see them! Because it’s fresh in my recollection, I can remember certain long side bars so this is so interesting!

I remember saying some days that it looks like Judge A is leaning over to literally bite off Elaine’s head. The more we go into these sidebars the more that impression solidifies. It’s so impressive of Judge A’s restraint that Elaine survived this trial.
After listening to this, I am definitely becoming a member to hear the other sidebars. This makes me want to rewatch the case with the sidebars.
I know you're trying to just fit into one more stream but I do think it would be fair to look through Johnny's Direct. So weird. Last year in May/June I was awaiting surgery and I binged the whole trial with you and watched a lot of lives around the Depp/Heard case to keep my mind busy so I wouldnt hyperventilate about surgery. Now, a year later, I'm here; awaiting another surgery, watching lives about the Depp/Heard trial...
Oh how I missed hearing," ELAINE!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
First thing I want to say is with the Netflix series…you got A LOT or air time Emily. Lol. I was SO happy to see it too.
Secondly, the final clip of episode 1 of @darthnews saying amber is f--‘d is ICONIC!
I caught most of this live and the rest of it in replay. OMG - I had NO idea how fun sidebar transcripts could be!!! I loved this so much!
Let's all give praise to the judge who showed super-human levels of patience.
Shouldn't Elaine lose her license at this point?
Good lord, that morning sidebar went so bad for Heard's team.Someone being disrespectful to the officers of the court, someone violating a judge's order, a witness being shady on the stand, and teh lawyer herself suggesting that her witness' testimony is going to get into some shaky legal grounds. This trial just keeps on giving, doesn't it?
Edit: thanks for the 'control+F myself' drama immediately after.
Emily, you are SO FUNNY to watch while you're going through this w/ us! I've been laughing and waking my husband up! I keep imagining you as the judge finally saying to Bredehoft, "I AM SICK OF YOUR FKRY! STOP IT!" 🤣
Love you and the show. Thank you so much for doing all this.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
AH's attorneys are the snaky lawyer stereotypes. I love this coverage and could listen to you reacting to all the sidebars.
I am in NZ and seldom catch a live stream, but I am thankful for the replays. Cheers for your considered and thoughtful breakdowns and commentaries. You are always clear and concise!
So dope!
So the insurance attorney was present when AH and EB said amber paid 6 million dollars on attorney fees?? 😂😂

Yay!! So glad you are doing this. Was watching another channel covering sidebars hoping you would!

I am so glad you are doing more of this. I find the lawyering fascinating.
You are ALL Over the special. The Lawyer you Know, the DUI guy, PoP Corn Planet…several others ALL mentioned & clips used…watching the sidebar Members live was so…much better & entertaining! My husband joined in & had a great time! He’s a New Fan! Lol
Remembering how painful this was at the time - but actually hearing how ridiculous it continued to be when we couldn’t hear - is even more painful - however your commentary is the reason we made it through to begin with and right now I’m crying 😂
