Some additional commentary on SMG's in general, as well as the Kriss Vector: 1) A major contributor to SMG's prevalence in games opposed to their IRL usefulness is inadequate simulation of armor and penetration mechanics. SBR's have nearly replaced SMG's in most use cases for two simple reasons. They share ammunition logistics and training requirements with the most common arms platform, the assault/auto rifle (M4, AK, HK416). By using an intermediate battle cartridge such as the 5.56x45mm or 7.62x39mm, SBR's also outperform SMG's in terms of kinetic energy delivered, penetration of body armor, and effective range. Most video games do not consider body armor penetration at all, and grossly distort "damage falloff" due to range or caliber. Making number hit zero fastest is often the only concern because a health value and damage value is often the only variables at play. 2) While the Kriss recoil redirection system may not be as effective as advertised, and introduce it's own reciprocation problems, I do believe there is strong evidence to suggest that the form factor of the Vector is a legitimate advancement. Take a look at the R-301 from Apex Legends and the Commando rifle from Halo: Infinite. I am extremely interested in seeing the development of a piston driven (like the AK or XM7), traditional or bullpup, intermediate carbine or battle rifle. The ergonomics are better, the manual of arms is simpler, the modularity is more opportunistic, and the mechanics are more reliable. We have seen the XM7 fire an extremely high pressure cartridge somewhere between 800-900rpm with VERY manageable recoil (for a CQB context). If we could combine those mechanical characteristics with the ergonomics of the straight slanted magazine and compactness of a foldable or collapsing PDW stock... I'd imagine we'd have the perfect CQB weapon. 3) Economics often cause innovation to move slowly. One of the major concerns of widespread adoption is the development cost, startup production cost, and generational improvement costs. Very few civilians can afford a semi-auto locked Kriss Vector or PS90. I found one interesting thing in my mind about vector smg its similar to concept of ppsh-41. Low recoil, high rate of fire and both had problems on the start of production. But vector is made more for profit and idea form and ppsh-41 made more for cost efficiency and numbers. This 2 smg are great for its times but vector is made in usa(higher cost of production for main problem of vector), need to fight for a place on market or gov. contract when in most of the countries that it try to fight have their smg that more robust and cheaper + its not giving money to usa more or less
I own a 9mm Vector Gen II. It's very fun to shoot and does not have recoil. It's biggest downside (aside from the lack of a fun switch because F*** FOPA) is that its reliability to cycle is atrociously low if you do not consistently clean it. Most firearms start to have malfunctions due to carbon buildup after about 1000 rounds and those rounds can be fired over the course of weeks to months. That is when you should be forced to clean your weapon and lube it so that it can continue to cycle. The vector builds up carbon so fast that if you're not cleaning it after you're done shooting it that day, you'll have malfunctions the next day if you start to shoot it again; and you'll experience it after 500 rounds anyways. It's still one of my most favorite guns and is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable to shoot. Honestly, it's one of the best platforms for home defense.
I have a term that I like to use called "Buzz Guns". Those are firearms that pretty much everyone knows about but don't really understand, similarly to Buzz Words. The Kriss Vector falls in that category.
There is a mod for RoN that adds in a true Vector, it is stupid fun for missions where you just want to vrrrp and brrr your way to "bring order to chaos"
another thing is that game are design to be "fun" so they make it practical. sometimes when the dev try to make the gun realistic, the player complain about the recoil or sumthn. so they just make it practical by reducing recoil or make ads more accurate. its more practical
my friends clowned upon me for using vector at the beginning but I find it suit my play style and seeing my performance with a vector they specifically look out for it while we drop in rank match
Brandon Herrera recently got a Kriss Vector original Gen 1 that's full-auto. That would have been a perfect source to add to talk about the recoil control.
I always find it strange that the FAMAS also has a ludicrous fire rate.... but it's almost never portrayed as a full auto in games... and when it is, it's much more moderate. Which is strange because the AR category usually lacks in such a weapon role... Just make it have low damage and see how it goes IMO. Like, lower, lower. 5 shot up close in a high TTK CoD when others are doing 3-4 shots in their initial damage drop.
6:45 tbf in Tarkov other sub guns are preferable over vector cuz Vector have considerably more side to side kick compared to other sub guns of the same vertical recoil
Personally, I would prefer the MP5 over the Vector. Kriss Vector is a great smg, not to mention its incredible tactical design, however the vector ran out of ammo too fast due to its insane rapid fire rate. Even carrying the 50 drum mags on the vector, it would still a bit of a setback in the terms of reloading.
i have a semi auto vector irl. i think its perfect other than its a little heavy and i had to replace the safety selector, but other than that the gun is reallllly fun to shoot in semi auto.

I love that you showed stalker gamma!
my dad got a kriss vector for home defense and its one of the nicest guns ive shot before because of the recoil mitigator
When it comes to SMGs I don't know why but the Kriss Vector is such a sexy firearm especially the gen 1 version just beautiful
the vector, the glock and the M4 (and its variants) are pretty much omnipresent in modern games that have a large focus on using realistic guns
Love the Hotline Miami song used.
Army of TWO 2 probably had the most overpowered version of the Vector. We only called it "the loud one".
the 45acp version according to Brandon Herrera is still too hard to control, the 9mm is still controllable though.
There's a reason why Vector has a 2-round burst... Brandon Herrera's video demonstrates that very well.
One of my all time favorite, can't help but gush about it when it is in a game. my fav variants is like either far cry 3/4 or COD
I saw the thumbnail before the title and thought this would a a SCP:SL video.
love the content, I am sensing a very similar vibe to the channel "ahoy"
This reminds me of Stuart Brown, from Xbox Ahoy. :)
2:39 After twelve years in developpement, we hope it would have been worth the wait.

another thing is that game are design to be "fun" so they make it practical.
sometimes when the dev try to make the gun realistic, the player complain about the recoil or sumthn. so they just make it practical by reducing recoil or make ads more accurate. its more practical
my friends clowned upon me for using vector at the beginning but I find it suit my play style and seeing my performance with a vector they specifically look out for it while we drop in rank match
War never changes.
Vector my beloved
the ahoy edit goes hard
Fascinating
Vaas has been awfully silent since this gun showed up
Brandon Herrera has a video of him and his buddies firing the vector in full auto, and you can see it's still VERY difficult to control
It just has a cool design
In Games the Vector is just a badass fun gun. Loved the Silenced Version in Watchdogs 1, Sadly it only had a 20 round mag.
I shot my friend's civilian Vector recently, it felt like it had no recoil at all, but charging it felt wonky as hell
Brandon Herrera recently got a Kriss Vector original Gen 1 that's full-auto. That would have been a perfect source to add to talk about the recoil control.
i love the kriss vector one if my favorite Sub Machine Guns behinde the MP7. Ever sense ive seen an MP7 being shot as a kid ive always wanted one
I think it's mostly because it looks cool af
I always find it strange that the FAMAS also has a ludicrous fire rate.... but it's almost never portrayed as a full auto in games... and when it is, it's much more moderate. Which is strange because the AR category usually lacks in such a weapon role... Just make it have low damage and see how it goes IMO. Like, lower, lower. 5 shot up close in a high TTK CoD when others are doing 3-4 shots in their initial damage drop.
Hotline Miami AND TF2?? You have good taste in soundtracks, my friend :)
Funny you mention Battlebit, where the Vector was infamous, but I think the Scorpion has a higher rate of fire. Why? Only the developers know.
The Vector both looks & sounds cool, being super effective in video games is also nice, but I think that the first 2 reasons are the primary ones.
Best SMG in Killing Floor 2.
Not UA-cam censoring this video
close enough, welcome back Gabe Newell!
I like these types of vids
Apparently my thoughts can be tracked as well cause there’s no way this video should be in my feed otherwise
