- Hey everyone! Here is a walk through of the different slide options available on our pistols. We talk in detail about the “why” behind certain aspects of the design as well as approximate market price points for each. Let us know your experience with Shadow Systems slides in the comments!
Are DR and MR slides and frames interchangeable?
Got a mr920FS on the first. And man i am in loveeee. Never buying glock again when shadow systems exist.
Please come out with a G34 style 920 pistol!!!!!
I doubt we'll see a 34 sized pistol any time soon. The MR AND DR are based off of the 19 sized platform. The DR is essentially a 19L slide on a full sized frame. Rumor has it that ZEV ran into reliability problems (likely to do with slide mass) when making the 19XL (34 sized) slide. I'd imagine they would have to re-engineer a new frame based off of the G17.
Just a thought MR920L slide on XR920 frame.. would essentially make it a DR920 but some like a little slide sticking out. Kinda like the sig m17-m18…I haven’t bought one of your pistols yet but when I do it will be the MR920L

Trevor when will we be able to buy a cover plate for our CR920 War Poet? I am wanting to pocket carry and with the Holosun it is impossible. I would have thought that a plate should have come with the War Poet especially for the extra price.

will you ever sell the slides standalone? I originally bought a foundation series a while ago and would like to eventually get the elite slide for it one day

For a SHTF DR920, if you had to choose the most reliable (even if it's 0.01%), would you choose the elite or combat optic?
Wow! Great question. I have to say, we see no difference between the two in testing or feedback. It really comes down to personal preference. Trevor

I'm new both to Shadow Systems pistols and red dots on pistols. I'm looking into purchasing the War Poet, which comes with the Holosun. I would love a "Technical Tuesday" about pros and cons of an absolute co witness vs a lower 1/3 witness. Thanks shadowsystemscorp for listening to your customers and your awesome videos!

@@TexasShotz i pulled the proverbial trigger tonight and have one on order. I havent read or heard any negative, and Shadow Systems customer service seems to match the quality of their product.
Absolute cowitness can take away from target acquisition. You aren't lining up the dot, and the irons to make your shot.
The dot is there to overlay on your target. Both eyes open, target focused, then dot. With lower 1/3 you don't notice the sites, so there is no distraction. But in an oh sh*t scenario, if your optic goes down, the lower third is still there to pick up the target.

I own a warpoet and I am glad you guys are blowing up. But , as a customer and future customer there is no reason you should not be selling any of these pistols without Ambi controls at the price point. Trevor , make it happen.

@@jerstolp1 Interesting concept, its like saying i will pay a higher premium for a Manual car. Even though 90% of vehicles are Automatic. But its ok , cause i know how to drive stick :)

I have an expansive collection of pistols and Shadow Systems have become my go-to for concealed carry (MR920 Elite) and range (XR920). Your pistols are very well built and after 1,500 rounds (combined) I haven’t had a single issue with either pistol even during the break-in period. I’ve been running a Timney trigger on my XR 920 and I couldn’t be happier. I was apprehensive to replace the trigger after watching your videos but let’s be honest, a partially cocked striker will never perform like a fully cocked system and since the XR was a range pistol I decided to take a chance. I feel like the pistol has now reached it’s full potential with the Timney trigger. There is so much innovation in your pistols and I wonder why you did not engineer a system similar to Timney?! I will soon be replacing my MR trigger now that I am confident with the reliability. The DR 920 is next on my list. It is great to watch an American company manufacturing amazing pistols. Keep up the great work!
Adding the Johnny Glock combat kit to the Timney makes it pretty dang sweet if you want it for a carry firearm. Couldn't be happier with the system myself.
Can’t wait for the CR920 to go with my mr920 war poet which I use for edc but wanting something smaller and more comfortable to edc … had a 365xl which was great but wanted to give Glock a chance so sold that and got a 43x mos, sold that for my war poet and don’t regret it all just want something a little smaller .. can’t go wrong with options lol can’t wait for the CR
@@TexasShotz I would have sold the 365 but kept the 43x. 43x is a spectacular EDC when you don't want to lug a 15 rounder around. Anticipating the CR920 but honestly I feel like the need for reliability in EDC the 43x might win over
@@JP-of8uq I get what you’re saying I’ve shot a ton of handguns there’s just nothing more reliable than the shadow systems in my opinion I have two of them and I have never had a misfire in thousands of rounds… That being said they are as reliable or more reliable than Glock I would bet my life on that …witch I guess that I am since I’m using it for EDC LOL

Question. Is there any benefit (accuracy, shootability, etc.) to the longer threaded barrel? Probably will never add a suppressor and not really interested in the long slide version.
Mark, not really. The velocity increase is virtually immeasurable and accuracy has a lot more to do with the sight radius and the shooter. I’d say pass unless you want a can. Trevor
I have at least 5000 rounds through my MR920 and it has been indescribable! Not even a mark on the barrel anywhere and I can say hands down the best pistol I own! Even my Glocks can’t deliver that ( and I still love them ). I have been putting off getting an optic but that blacked out version might do.

What about the trigger reset? P320 does have a nice trigger reset.If you can give me your opinion is highly appreciated.
What gen slide is compatible with the MR920? I’ve now been told Gen4 and Gen5 both work, but I’d rather hear from you guys. :)

Will the new Holosun SCS MOS green fit on a MR920?
Wouldn't you not need that? These are already direct milled, so you're getting the best placement possible. Those are being made to mount without a plate system so that they can have a great picture and no silly plate.
Are the exclusive blacked out Holosuns on the Shadow Systems website?

As a multiple shadow systems owner, as in 3, I really wish you guys would offer slide cuts to combat owners, or sell optic cut slides. Your beginnings were aftermarket parts for oem glocks, and after investing into two shadow systems MR920 combats. You won’t sell me an optic cut slide or let me pay for the machining. I really wish you guys would make that known up front. You left a lot of us hang out to dry, and you know it because the XR and DR wouldn’t be offered as an optic cut only as standard.
Love the products. Wish you would offer upgrades for those of us that have been around since the beginning without taking a bath on trades. 10k round club here. 🤷♂️
I’m not a fan of holes in slides. Wouldn’t larger coffin cuts be just as lightweight but stronger and no worries of crap finding its way into the slide? I get holes for looks, race guns, and range toys, but I’d love to know the weight reduction of just those holes versus larger coffin cuts?
Also, have you considered putting the optic spacers/shims in front of the optic, where the recoil force gets exerted on the optic, which would also move the optics further away from the chamber and reduce how much they get smoked by fouling?
I concur. I honestly think the whole movement towards putting holes in slides is ridiculous. I would much rather they find other ways of reducing mass other than just straight cutting clear through the slide.
Yeah. Holes are ingress points. I’ve never met a trainer who carried a gucci gun for SD. Any weight savings isn’t worth it to me…but coffin cuts and milling out the inside of the slide might be a workable solution.

My mans is always cut up and scraped up. You work on cars on the side or something? I got questions.
Toke my MR920L to range for 1st time......those Glock pmags spring are to cheap. Gun jammed Everytime. Spent over $1000. Shadow systems you guys really need to get it together. Pmags are to cheaply made why make your own mags?
