It's insane how many awesome games the GBA had in it's life before it was replaced by the DS only 3+ years later. Granted the GBA still lived on for a bit after the DS was released, but it's crazy how quickly Nintendo was ready with another handheld, probably because they recognized that the PSP was about to be a genuine threat to their portable gaming monopoly of the time.
It felt like it was around for much longer at the time, but I suppose that can be attributed to the passage of time being a different experience when you're younger.
Where does the narrative about the PSP come from? You don't just rush a product onto the market, especially when they labelled it as a third pillar before its success.
@@NuiYabuko As far as I can remember (and according to a quick google search) the DS was even announced before the PSP. My guess is that someone (or some people) at Nintendo was just passionate about the possibilities of touch screens for handheld gaming, and the whole thing was announced as a side-project (third pillar) just in case it didn't catch on. Plus, they might have realized the issues with how they were working on their third generation of 3D-focused home consoles while their handheld played like a souped-up SNES with fewer face buttons.
@@NuiYabuko have you studied the history of the DS? Rushing out that product is almost exactly what Nintendo did. Crazy how it was such a massive success though.

@@carnage0685 For GBA, definitely one of the best. Ever played Zero Mission? Love that one too. I personally like Fusion more though.
If you can't wait just emulate it. It's free too. And you won't support a money hungry company.
@@BalboaBaggins But you can't play it on the big screen for free + you won't be supporting Metroid. If way more people did this they wouldn't be making new Metroid content. This isn't 2016- The series has entered a new renaissance, and not supporting it is just idiocy.
Metroid needs this amount of love all the time. Such a great franchise.
I'm glad Metroid is finally receiving some love after so many time
The main issue is that people are so afraid of screwing it up. It's a franchise that you have to get right, your WILL face backlash (Looking at you, Other M).
@Grano Onis that's good. That makes sure it will get proper attention and care. They should be scared of messing it up.
But the con to that is they COULD mess up eventually. It's risky to touch old beloved franchises.
@@granoonis2080 it's part of the reason why Nintendo restarted development for Prime 4 and seeing how well Dread and Prime remastered has sold Metroid has a bright future ahead.
It only took nearly 40 years for this franchise to get the love from Nintendo and the public, that it deserves. Keep going Nintendo, this is one of your best, if not BEST franchises.
That’s what happens when you’re a Nin Franchise that Miyamoto didn’t make
It got this attention back in 2002 through 2010.
To be fair, Super Metroid was a blockbuster hit...but in the West. Nintendo of Japan didn't understand the overseas appeal for the franchise until "The Hype Is Real" of the Metroid Prime reveal. The only game on the Game Cube that had even bigger reveal hype was Twilight Princess - that E3 reveal will never be forgotten by the internet.
Then the lead for the series, Sakamoto, had to nearly murder the franchise with Other M - an "okay" game but a horrible Metroid with some of the worst story direction and base game design I ever played that _wasn't_ a blatant cash-grab title of some form. Even Samus' voice actress didn't like her portrayal, but it's exactly what Sakamoto wanted so that's what we got stuck with.

@@jarde1989 Not sure what this really means. Splatoon and Animal Crossing weren't made by Miyamoto, but they are huge and get a bunch of attention from Nintendo. While franchises like Star Fox and Pikmin were created by Miyamoto but get very little attention.
One of the best games ever. Making a game with such a spooky atmosphere and genuine scares on the GBA was a serious accomplishment. I hope the series sticks to the more horror-focused vibe going forward.
The darkest and most unique Metroid game. Loved the atmosphere and soundtrack. This game doesn't get enough credit for how amazing it really is.
This game is more tense since you don't have no idea on what could happen on your first play through.
I can't count how many times I've beaten this game. And I'm sure I won't be able to count how many more times I'll beat it again.
Darkest probably goes to Prime 2 since that game is basically a horror movie, but Fusion is only second to it in showing how dark Metroid can go. Love both of them a lot

I decided to get into Metroid thanks to MPR(Thanks to it's low price and shadow drop) so your wish has been granded.
This was the first game I played as a kid in 2003. I waited my whole life for a sequel to this series which I wanted so much more from and finally got it, and now the series is getting more love than it ever has before 😭 talk about living in a dream
I played this game at 5 years old…I had no idea how games and stories worked cohesively, but Fusion scared me to my core and left me wanting more. I didn’t understand sequels and storylines either so Prime really confused me. However, I always referenced Fusion thinking it was the main plot because it was the most striking and heavy plot I had ever experienced. It’s my top Metroid game and will forever stand until something else bests it.
@@patricksanchez1684 have you played dread? dread is the ACTUAL sequel to fusion
@@brianestepa2376 if you read my comment thoroughly, I was 5. At that age I didn’t understand sequels and storylines. I didn’t realize Prime and the Metroid 1-4 were entirely different stories. Naturally, I played Dread. Fusion tops it in my eyes.

I did not think we'd get a new GBA game this quick. I'm glad we did and that it's Metroid of all things pretty excited to play this!
Well some of these games have been on the wii u and 3ds digitally so it just a matter of when they want to ship it out.
The nostalgia is hitting me HARD, I love Fusion so much!! It was my first “horror” game, I was 10 when it dropped. Thank u Nintendo for doing this (and hopefully let’s see a physical release for us collectors!)
How about a digital release before we even begin to ask for physicals? The same thing happened when nintendo showed goldeneye 007, one guy assumed it was a digital release and wanted a physical.

It's honestly in the top metroid games, not just 2D
I preferred Zero Mission to Fusion, but that’s because I liked the non-melodramatic talking.
The appeal of Metroid has always been that lonely feeling of happening upon a world that has at one time some signs of intelligence, but was returning to its primal origin.
Other M and Fusion had a lot more interpersonal drama than I thought enjoyable.
I just love seeing Metroid getting the praise it deserves.
I love that they included the SA-X as a Jumpscare because as I child I legit thought the SA-X could appear anywhere.
I’m seriously loving all the Metroid games coming back! I never got to experience the older games but now I do! Its pretty awesome
people been sleeping on the Metroid series for so long. great to see it make it's come back and see a whole bunch of new players get to experience it.
I love this trailer. After all these years I still think Fusion is the best Metroid there is.
It's amazing to see how much love Metroid is finally getting

Dang, you must have been such an advanced baby! When I was that age I couldn't even play Frogger.
I don’t care
Isn’t it wierd that so many kids born during the gbas life time ended up playing the console. It technically had a short lifespan but it was popular on the second hand market till i think arguably the 2010s. I was born in 2001 and somehow I have vivid memories of playing Lego games on gba. Either that or I dreamt it all up to block out the DSi
@@joelsytairo6338 interestingly, this isn't the only set of kids that do this. People born in the 90s tend to gravitate towards consoles like the ps1 and n64.

This was a genuinely spooky trailer and had me really invested. ❤ so happy for all of the Metroid fans and this definitely piqued my interest to get on some titles
I love the recent attention to Metroid in recent times, i am so happy that my favorite franchise is still alive
I absolutely love that Metroid is finally getting the recognition it deserves from Nintendo. Maybe they finally understand that it's not just Mario that makes their brand.
Agreed, pikmin has also received a similar treatment, it’s been nearly 10 years since pikmin 3 and there’s now going to be a 4th one
Now I just wish they’d show that love towards Star Fox and F-Zero
I mean naw it’s still Mario that makes their brand but it’s nice they know that it’s good to have other things besides that.
They have a shitton of IPs. They've always understood that. Metroid just was in... An unfortunate position let's say.
Anyway, what's important is that Samus is back and I couldn't be happier
I’ll never understand why Metroid fans were so worried. Yeah they skipped Metroid for Wii U, but the franchise was never absent. People acting like it became shelved like StarFox or FZero
This trailer is amazing. Leaves out all the text , which is what drags and slows the game down.
Metroid Fusion is easily my favorite 2D Metroid, right there with dread. I’m so glad Metroid is finally getting more love! This is an amazing franchise that I’d recommend any new comer to try out. went searching for old Metroid Fushion trailers, because I never thought there was much in the way of direct commercial advertisement for it given so much went to Metroid Prime at the time. There were a couple, but this trailer feels like a wonderful gift to give to the game, pressing fully into the horror aspect, including the low health beeps and footsteps echoing at the end.

With the revival Metroid has been getting, it makes me hopeful that we will see a new F-Zero installment or at least a remaster of GX. It's criminal that the series has collected so much dust
