Y'know, after all this time, seeing Nintendo actually acknowledge Golden Sun... it's pretty magical. Please let this be the first step to getting that sequel!

Wrong, Camelot makes the Mario Sports Games NOT Mario + Sonic.
This is probably the single best addition to the online service period. Golden Sun 1+2 are some of the best RPGs to ever exist. Anyone who never got to experience them, please give them a shot!

Do they actually need remasters? This right here is a trailer for playing them on modern hardware, with multiple screen settings depending on how you want to view it. GS's artstyle is so distinct and tailor made for the GBA. What would you say if they tried to remaster it and made it like the FF pixel remasters? Or made it 3D?

Play Camelot's other masterpiece, Shining Force 3 (Scenarios 1-3). It's a finished trilogy and Scenario 3 specifically is a masterpiece.
It's amazing to see characters leave in scenario 1 & 2 and return in scenario 2 & 3. It just makes another layer of storytelling. The final protagonist was a short time party member in scenario 1 & 2 and you bring his stats (and everyone else's as most characters return in Scenario 3) over between games like you do in Golden Sun
If you’ve never played Golden Sun, seriously give them a chance, they are honestly fantastic and they hold up really well to this day!

the first one is a bit shorter than the 2nd game, but i remember as a kid i easily took more than 40-50 hours to finish. i cant really tell how long it took me, but anyway amazing games!!! @@17jacoyne

Being fair, they've put Golden Sun & Mario RPG on Wii U Virtual Console
But that was the Wii U and that console's playerbase is tiny compared to Switch today
These games are huge, even for GBA games. The music, the story, the customizable gameplay...all of it was great. The one downside...the multi-page transfer code you had to input to carry over everything into the second game.
Such a long code! Don't mess it up. Haha

@danielvindas91 I read it assumes a link cable in switch to not need. The save states greatly enhance the text heavy parts, though dark dawn makes these look like short stories lol.
@@danielvindas91 There is "link cable" functionality, but only between Switch consoles. So you could transfer your clear data from Golden Sun to another Switch's Golden Sun The Lost Age and do link battles in the arena, but can't do the transfer between games on the same Switch without the code.
Golden Sun was the first game I ever bought with my own allowance, and I bought it because we were going on a long road trip and I needed something to keep me entertained. This turned out the be a fantastic idea, Golden Sun was the perfect road trip game! It really felt like a grand adventure back then, and it still feels like one today!

I always knew Golden Sun and Golden Sun The Lost Age would be added together, since it's one big story. They were originally going to be one JRPG on the N64, but they became the two we got for the GBA.

How does the link cable transfer work? Are we essentially going to make it easy to play each other's Linked Game as a result?

can we please rather just retcon GS3 out of existence? That game just didn't know what goals you were supposed to have and just put you in a ton of random arcs while completely ignoring why you set off in first place just for the "oops, that still exists" cliffhanger at the end..

Venus Lighthouse is still among one of my favorite themes. Nice that more people will get the chance to hear it.
Probably my favorite music in JRPGs in spite of the GBA's limited sound capabilities. Great graphics as well - and a simple, enjoyable story that's really accessible for people new to the genre! They're some of my favorite games of all time.
Music sound really amazing for GBA ; quality of samples are much better than other rpg for this system
the same guy who did the soundtrack later went on to do the soundtrack for the Tales games and he does his best here. Kalay is my personal fave in the game for music

Still my all time favorite games. Such a special place in my heart. I play through these every few years. In fact I bought an analogue pocket so I could play my original cartridges. Worth every penny

It's nice to finally get these on the switch, but you don't actually own them. Who's to say Nintendo’s next console won't have the NSO emulators? I mean, I doubt it won't, but you never know.

These are perfect "I'm new to RPGs" games, while also being amazing for veterans of the genre.
This is at the very least a great chance to introduce this series to a new audience. They are great games with beautiful soundtrack and even have a “secret” ending. I recommend people to give it a shot. Here’s hoping we get a new game in the near future (be it a remake or a fourth game).
What ending are you talking about? I have beaten both of them at least 3 times and I'm pretty sure there is no secret ending. Maybe a post-credits scene, but there shouldn't be anything huge.
@@Supaserrin That's why I used secret ending in quotes. Without spoiling too much and depending on your dialogue choice, you can get an early ending.
This is still one of my favorite games of all time. Give it a shot if you haven't already. Classic

Legitimately two of the best turn-based JRPG's ever made. It's a real shame after Dark Dawn Camelot just gave up and made Mario sports games for the next decade. Golden Sun really needs to come back.
I agree. I'd love seeing a new game, in full 3D (cell shaded, preferably, that would fit in very well with the series overall style)

I remember seeing Golden Sun at target when I was a kid and the box art had me begging my grandma for it. One of my favorite games growing up

The battle themes along make you feel like you are the boss. I couldn’t stop fighting everyone just to hear it again.
My number one favorite game of all time (I consider them one since they were originally meant to be) I know it’s a real reach and will likely never happen, but if we could ever get a remaster I would be happy beyond words. It is truly everything an RPG should be and I hope more will now enjoy it.
if they do a remaster, I would want Dark Dawn as part of the remaster collection. I wouldn't be too surprised if they go this route that it would be $40-50 for all three.

Definitely aged too much visually to remain in my top spot, but its still one of my best gaming memories without a doubt. Amazing storytelling, combat system, and puzzling. 10/10 RPGs as of today

@@personthatdoesntexistratioas someone who found flaws with the game, I still have to disagree. These two games are overall still amazing. Fun battle system, great puzzle-solving and fun dungeons/world
They're pretty decent JRPGs on the GBA. I definitely recommend playing them, but they DO have a lot of dialogue that can be considered super lengthy when compared to other JRPGs (close to Metal Gear dialogue lengths at times). As such, you will have to mash "A" a bunch.
These are my favorite childhood games and seeing them pop up again gives me hope for a sequel, I hope more people get to play these beautiful games, the music is by far one of the best you could have at the time, its incredible what they achieved with the sound hardware from the GBA.

I love these games so much. Motoi Sakuraba made me fall in love with video game music and these games are super important to me in that aspect.
Between this, Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean, Sakuraba cemented my love for prog rock

Just seeing so much support for our Golden Sun brings so much joy to my heart! They're some of the best entry-level RPGs I've played, and the graphics & music still hold up to this day, alongside the insanely expansive battle system.

Quick tip: when there's a dialogue option, give the wrong answer, lie, play dumb etc. They wrote dialogue for those answers and they can be quite entertaining.
For those planing on playing, these games transfer your old save data to the second game, so do please play them in order!!!
After you beat the first game, it gives you a transfer code so you can enter that onto the second game

still have my original Gameboy advance carts of these and still play them. If you're thinking of trying an rpg this is a good introduction to a wonderful series that had a unique magic system, summons, and memorable music

I love both of these games. They are great entry points for those unfamiliar with RPGs. IMO it combines classic RPG gameplay with Zelda-style puzzle solving. These are games not to be missed!

Recently replayed Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age at the age of 30. They still hold up as some of the greatest JRPGs of all time.
Casual reminder that you should check on the Thieves in GS1 later in the game so that you can get a really good item in the middle of GS2 when you transfer your save via password.

Yeah, through subscription instead of just selling it as a game app for the Switch, meaning that in order for fans to play the games that they loved, they have to either; 1) Continuously fill their Nintendo account wallet or, 2) Connect their Nintendo account with their bank account so that they don't have to worry about losing their nostalgic game access on legal hardware. Which is why I emulate, can't Nickle 'n' Dime me if I have a digital copy to play on my computer without the concern about not having enough funds to continue playing them for the foreseeable future. If it was a one-time payment I would think about buying. I don't do PlayStation Plus for the same reason.

After the third game, there wasn't really anymore effort put into trying to continue the whole series. Even though it left off at a cliffhanger.

The game is awesome. Highly recommend. I remember playing it for hours upon hours when I was a kid. Quite a bit of replayability due to the many different ways you can mix up those little buggers.

Btw, I highly suggest people to look into Djinni Combination Guides out there as it really opens up the deeper intricacies of the game's party members with it's inbuilt class system.

Same! It's part of my childhood. I remember my bro had to get the list of djinnies and guide from the school library since we didn't have internet back in the day.
I'd recommend just experimenting with it instead of looking it up, more fun that way IMO. The games aren't that difficult either way so there's some leeway for suboptimal play.

I just finished a second playthrough of TOTK and am ready to play something else. This couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Play these games everyone. They are fantastic. I still have the Prima Games dual strategy guide for both games with all locations of treasure, djinn and boss stats.

Yeah, but I think they tried showing what different psynergy Isacc gets by changing Djinn. Briar is what he gets when he equips water, and Gaia when he equips wind.

These games were everything an RPG should be! And they were on the GBA! I never got to finish the second one because there was a giant bolder blocking a river, but the first one was so boss I almost cried because I couldn't play more of it.

Golden Sun, some of the best games of the GBA era, had so much fun with them, the story, the soundtrack, the effects, good times. We could get a remaster, if done right it's sure to sell.
Now, here's to hoping they will make another game! This series is incredible. Had a ton of fun playing through it as a kid 😄
