    I love orange accents but that black dial with the white is really crisp. Like the case shape, too.

      the case shape (cushion, pillow) is very cool for me at least and the dial is timeless as you can see it s a Speedmaster straight away. I do like the timeless classic design. I do feel lucky to have these.

    Both amazing references and different enough to justify having both. I went with the black variant and it hasn’t left my wrist since I purchased it. Would love to have both, that grey dial with the splash of orange looks sublime in natural light. Looking forward to more videos with the Mark II.

      I am very lucky to get a new Racing Grey/ Orange dial and have both here. For me they are super classic iconic watches that are not going out of style or popularity. Thank you for your comment.

    Unlike most I'm quite resolute about the fact that a sub register in a chronograph is no place for the date window and I'm very critical of George Kern's idea of making the new chronomat and the navitimer like that to mimic various IWC models. In my mind it looks too commercial/ industrial modernism oriented type of design in watchmaking. Thats probably why none of the top three or four Swiss watchmakers nor the Germans follow the same trend!

      I think other people might agree with you. For some reason I like date windows at 3 o'clock or 4:30 but out of the was of other dials. Also when using a Valjous based caliber like the 7750 it is always nice to see the full feature set being used like the Day & Date at 3pm and one reason I like the IWC Pilots and like the way they have not dropped the Day like so many other fashion trend followers. Of course we don't need the Day or Date, but we don't even need the watch but I still want the thing wrapped round my wrist... 🤓

      I was thinking if I were to redesign this Omega I would put the date window at 4:30 in a circular round form then replace the hands with rhodium plated ones with Luminova and a slimmer second hand positioned nearer to the dial painted in orange also would create more varieties like tone on tone and different color of subdials...
      So forth and so on

      @@donaleeesio ah yes that would work and I bet Omega could offer a titanium or carbon version also though I prefer steel or precious metal.

      A DLC coated titanium would be awesome imo.
      Like the Sinn 140

    I don't understand why Breitling and Zenith can make thin chronographs from of the shelf movements but Omega and Tag Heuer can't?!

    • @masterwatch
      @masterwatch  8 місяців тому +1

      the Omega's 3330 movement is a highly jazzed up beast of a movement as it is a chronometer, coaxial and column wheel with 50 hr power reserve. The size is probably something I like actually and I do like a detailed dial. I suppose it is all down to preference.

    • @donaleeesio
      @donaleeesio 8 місяців тому +1

      The problem with omega is that unlike other contenders when they jazz up movements or do inhouse instead of reduction in size they grow up in size,lol
      AND they give you the "antimagnetic" or "coaxial" nonsense!

    • @masterwatch
      @masterwatch  8 місяців тому

      @@donaleeesio the coaxial part is a bit of engineering that does help greatly with accuracy. One thing I have noticed with my Coaxials is that they are very accurate as I am seeing +2seconds / day and that isn't too shabby for a mechanical watch and the other cool thing is that they are both the same. Actually this touches on something I do want to talk about and that is the movement. Mechanical watches for me are about the movement and its accuracy and power reserve.

    • @donaleeesio

      There is no argument that omega makes accurate time pieces probably as good as Rolex but many people including myself when we buy mechanical watch accuracy is'nt priority. Of course if there is half a minute or one minute deviation in one day that would be a ugly scenario but when I need accurate timing my g shocks come to my help especially the MRGs with GPS assist.
      But I tell you I got watches with Selita and ETA in them with -1 or +1 per day accuracy and four degree positioning, very simple reliable movements and pretty slim too.

    I believe Omega also added a column wheel vs standard cams on the Valjoux.
    I love my mark II racing as my dad also had one. It's also much rarer than the speedy pro.

      I believe the Valjous based Omega 3330 movement was upgraded including Column Wheel, Coaxial and 52 hours power reserve and I understand the Racing (Orange) dial was limited.
