In 1985 I was walking around Sound Warehouse in San Antonio and stopped dead in my tracks when Fire '85 came out over the speakers! Went over to the counter to see the Now Playing display and saw the Sugar Kiss LP then made a made dash to the aisles to grab a copy of my own! This album was so underrated! Bless his soul! This is my 2nd favorite single off that album! R.I.P. LeRoy "Sugar" Bonner from one of your biggest fans - Al Reyes!
Long live the sound and style of Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner produced by Rodger Troutman. Whew this song is off the funk charts. R.I.P. Sugar the world wasn't really ready to handle this one.
He has a lot more fans than most people think, a lot of people from where I from (Lake Charles LA) don't know much about him but an OG we nicknamed Foots was in honor to him in 1986 when I was about 15 years old
80's pop locking, break dancing music.......I can imagine being in a smoke filled club hearing this song while scoping the ladies. Next time that I go out to a club, I will request this song to the dj.
I remember when I first heard a snippet of this album back in 2009 in which a record store clerk put on hold for me because he knew how much I love funk, he put the needle on it and I thought that the songs were just ok and sounded too much like a Roger Troutman album......I listened to all of the songs from this album and call me and I choose you are the only songs that I really like on this album. Call me has some very sweet rhythm guitar especially near the end.
I agree with yall roger Troutman and sugarfoot jamming on that damn guitar boy oh wee!!!!!!!!!!
