Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

@@MisterGenesis64AK butterfly effect so most likely. For example the effects on Jimmy/Saul since he is really the main character of that universe. Love the comparison between the first guy that comes in vs Krazy 8. First guy comes in, gives Nacho the money he owes, doesn't talk while counting the money, and keeps conversation to a minimum(telling Nacho "See you" and giving a brief respect to the Hector, the Boss). Krazy 8 comes in, and does the exact opposite, trying to avoid the inevitable truth that he doesn't have what he owes them by trying to be personal with Nacho(talking about his day and his pop). Notice how Krazy 8 and other guy greet Hector and he couldn’t care less but they know they can’t disrespect him in any way. Also, when he asks Nacho who works for who, it goes to show Hector is paying attention.
Hector is playing one of those typical power move from dumb people with high responsibilities: "you are too irrelevant for me to acknowledge your existence".
The whole scene shows how much smarter Gus is, he would come up with a better way to show everyone who is the boss and what happen when you betray him than this caveman behavior.
It actually shows that Hector is paying attention with the camerawork and directing right from the beginning of the scene. He makes his coffee and sits down, it then shifts from Hector to Nacho, making sure to keep Hector in the frame. The rest of the shots of Nacho you can always see him there, just out of focus. We then get over the shoulder shots of him not bothering to look up from his paper, but we can still clearly see Nacho and the storefront. Which tells us he is in fact listening and paying peripheral attention to what's going on.
The only time he actually says anything is once the money is short, and Nacho lets the debt ride on Hector's behalf.
One of the things I love so much about this series. Almost every scene tells you an entire story between the lines. Without dialogue.

I always enjoyed the smaller details that Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul added. Stuff like Krazy 8 wearing a Tampico Furniture shirt, as he mentioned that he used to worked for his dad there to Walt way back in season 1 of Breaking Bad.
With all the time it would've saved these guys, you kindof have to wonder why the Salamanca crew never invested in one of those bill counting machines lol
The actor who played Nacho can pass off as Middle Eastern and Indian.
I once helped an elderly man who had fallen get home by car. He looked Latino, but wasn't responding much to English, or Spanish. His wife tells me that he's Egyptian!
More Middle Eastern than Indian
I don't know why, but the way Nacho counts, rolls up, and rubber bands the money is soooo satisfying.
To think that if Krazy 8 kept his mouth shut, Hector wouldn't have been on Nacho's dad's case and Hector wouldn't have been paralyzed.
I wonder sometimes if I went into, say, a small pizza shop, and saw this going on in the back, what I would do. Just order it with extra pepperoni?
Just ask for "commission based sales opportunities."
Don’t forget to say hi and bye to nacho and don hector
What? No, are you crazy? You order one with extra sausage.
He was just giving him a burrito but he wasn’t really hungry
Thing is, like, what if one week people just don't buy as much or stop for whatever reason. Now you're light and it wasn't even your fault, so what do you even do about that?
Rob lol
Make up the difference. Keep enough cash in reserve to cover shortfalls, just like any other business. Problem is, most of the dealers have their own issues, which is why they turned to dealing in the first place, and the idea of keeping a large amount of the profit "just sitting around" for emergencies is counterintuitive.
Yea but he still would have the rest of the unsold dope. This guys runner lost the package, thus it was a lose lose all around. Depending on the amount lost, there would really be no way to make up for the loss.
@@tom-nl5sj Not the Salamancas' problem. They rule through fear, everyone knows that, and if you have to sell your newborn child to make up the money, then that's what you do to avoid their wrath.
I always got the idea that Krazy 8's mistake was trying to be shifty about it. If he had spoken to Nacho privately beforehand, Nacho would've loaned him some cash. If he had jsut come out and said that business was slow, Hector would have glared at him but would've at most docked his pay or something. But by trying to shirk, he was drawing the ire of the cartel.
Irony: Hector was just commenting on the day's "Blondie" strip.

I desperately wanna know how Nacho & Tuco met and how they became bros
These sorts of punishments don’t work, as an aside. Terrified subordinates don’t report potential problems for fear of reprisal, leading to bigger problems down the line.
No surprise at all

The first thing they teach you in the game is don’t ever come up light. No matter how long that relationship has been in effect. The person you are paying will not always make the decision about what happens next.
This shows how a just character like nacho can be utterly cruel as well.

And Domingo trying to stall because he knew he was short lol
The whole Salamanca family and Nacho: all of them if being ordinary people, would be the best people to be around, to be friends with. I especially loved the bright side of Lalo and Nacho.
Now that’s what I call a performance review!
Its a common tactic to talk to someone when theyre counting money. It might cause a miscount, which is what Krazy 8 was hoping for. That's why Nacho told him to shut up
Can't believe Nacho dragged Krazy back into the restaurant, tickled him on Don Hector's orders, then forced him to dine on a well-prepared and nutritious meal whilst discussing his father's car issues. I can see how the Salamancas got their reputation for brutality
Hector was mentoring Nacho on being a big shot in the cartel world. It's kinda nice from his part actually, him and his nephew truly liked Nacho
