Alex Phillips probably so, you have to give it fuel in order for it to keep firing, just holding the starter and waiting for it to start on its own just ain’t going to happen. Adding fuel will make it fire up quick.

Does the starter wear out quickly? The engine pulses several times before it begins to idle. I would think this would cause significant starter wear.
It uses a grid heater, so it's normal as there is no spark plugs, so the start would be fine.
How big is the exhaust and stacks?
