Those complaining about the poor camera work and the slightly shambolic performance must have never ever gone to a Faces gig. Those of us seeing the Faces back in the 70's never expected note perfect performances, or high levels of professionalism, seeing the Faces was like going down the pub with your mates, things could often get out of hand and silly but you always had a good time,
You're talking to people who have no clue what technology was like before they were born and dont want to know. They think everything was smartphone and digital quality, they got no idea what a bootleg record was like or a VHS after about 10 views was like if it even still worked at all. Screw em let em whine.
Live Faces were always a rock and roll treat
Too right. The Faces were gloriously sloppy and I loved it.
Faces live was a privilege, good bad or indifferent! Out of this world , seat of the pants good time band the likes we will never see again
This is probably the best Faces footage I’ve ever seen! At least in the quality of the footage and sound. But they sound great here, if you ask me
The warmth of Rod Stewart's voice, the soulfulness of Mac's keyboard. Rawness of Woody's guitar, and the excellent rhythm section of Lane and Jones. What's not to love? Definitely one of my favorite bands!

Truly the meaning of PRICELESS ! A 53 year old Gem. Always loved Woody’s guitar sound with The Faces. So thankful that I have lived my 67 years to be a first hand witness to such amazing music. RIP Mac & Ronnie Lane. Thanks for posting this. You’re never to old to Rock & Roll ! 🎸☮️&💟

I forgot just how good rods voice was back in the early 70’s. He was “the “ voice back then and the faces live were just amazing. Loose yes but full of soul and emotion. And Ronnie lane is such an under appreciated British talent . Quite the package
As good as he was, he never came close to being as good as his predecessor Steve Marriott

Stevie was just amazing but Rod was up there with him , both so soulful, the Faces were blessed with the two best rock vocalists in Uk history , not a completion , Marriott power unbelievable, Stewart soul sr one to none

Saw the Faces a lot of times. Whenever I could.
It was always a party even when they started playing larger venues. For me one of the best bands live I've seen. "A nods as good as a wink to a blind horse" Great album. Rod was always destined to be a superstar. But Ronnie Lane was the heart & soul of the Faces.
yeah saw them in Brighton Top Rank very Early on and as you say Ronnie lane was the heart of the band..just loved their rawness and the way they connected with us all!

What an amazing performance. Sadly, this kind of organic musical performance is really missing from today’s music scene.

Saw the Faces at the Hollywood Palladium in 1972. If you went to concerts at the Palladium in the early ‘70s you know it was crowd up directly to the stage and you were 10 feet from the group. That’s how it was for me that night with The Faces. Indescribable show. Loud, raucous, great music. Been to many concerts, but that was the ultimate.

Wow. The energy coming off that stage was unreal. The lads knew how to put on a show. So glad this footage survived.
Glad I was growing up in those original days when singers could sing, musicians could play real instruments and performed naturally. The entire show had to do with Music!
When Rod was a rocker.
For a time an equal to Mick Jagger, or even better. Stones were taking off again in 1969 -1970 with Mick Taylor.

This is a performance filmed at the Marquee in Wardour St (sadly no more) it then.moved for a year so to a site in Charing Cross Rd which is now a Wetherspoons pub

Rod's vocals are just like none other..And great musicianship..
And here we are 53 years later, and a couple of these guys are still selling out stadiums and arenas

They were an amazing blues band. Ronnie's bass playing held it all together.
Yeah, but it was blues really tempered by R’n’B, a little gospel even.
These guys are clearly in love with one another, (I mean that in the
purest sense of the word) & it really enhances their performance.

what a find - thanks for posting this. i was born in the sixties, and my Mom had all of Rod's albums, she was crazy about him! his voice was so soulful and riveting in his youth. i never cared much for his 90's and 80's work, but his earliest stuff for me was my bread and butter.
Finally, after all these years, get to see a live performance of Around the Plynth, again, although criminally abbreviated, leaving out much of Ron Wood's innovative slide work, especially the intro, and finale. That was always the high point of their live shows, back in the day, for me. Nothing matched the way the sound of his guitar, when going back and forth from speaker to speaker, and around the venue! ❤😊
Around the Plynth is a tune I still love on wax and turntable. These guys all had, and still have decades of wonderful careers. Thanks a million for the up load.
Was 16 in 1970, brilliant band, this brings back fantastic memories of the music and my finally being free to leave home and start to live my life - freedom! I've just read Ronnie Wood's biography ' Woody' in it he gives interesting insight into the Small Faces and Faces.

This is my desert island band , voice always reminds of my Aunt Maggie Mayer, who bought me my first Faces blues album . Recently Rod Stewart performed w/E Clapton, B Gibbons, and Trucks.
I love it..they were a great band!❤💯❤️
Oh the memories are flooding back. Caught them in Croydon pub around this time . They were a wonderful breath of fresh air. Their on stage camaraderie caught on film. Well done the camera crew!!

IN THIS PERFORMANCE, ROD IS LESS THAN A MONTH FROM 26 YRS OLD AND SOME 54 YEARS LATER,STILL SINGING & PERFORMING. GRANTED THE PERFORMANCES THE SOUND ARE NOT LIKE THEY WERE,BUT WHO AMONG US ARE?

@sydmccreath4554 Its very sad, allegedly when reunion shows contracts were being argued over in 2007-10, and before Ian died, they continually fell apart over a person wanting his 50% cut. The other 3 members were expected to share 50%. A bass player (for RonnieL) would be on wages. So we never got those Faces shows, but a few with Mick Hucknall and Glen Matlock. I had a ticket for a Hucknall show which was cancelled due to ´´logistics´´.
Yeah, in spite of being a nob of ye first order, a 'certain person was the best raspy voiced vocalist of the time.
Many many tried and died.

I saw him in a restaurant in Fulham one Sunday lunchtime by which time he was quite ill and could hardly walk unaided. Such a sad sight.
He used to live in my area (rural mid Wales) and there were events put on in the town hall for MS on his behalf. Cruel end. A couple I know, a guitarist/singer and a violinist respectively, played Annie at their wedding reception in tribute. Beautiful.@@johnenglish929

Comparatively speaking this was, by and large, a night off...
This is awesome! Rod, Ronny, and Woodsy is like 75% of a R&R Mt Rushmore. The playback is perfect.
My favorite Faces album is their first, ironically entitled "Small Faces". Seeing a performance from this time is fantastic, in spite of the bad video synchronization. I'll take it nevertheless.
