- Faces - I know I'm losing you, live England, first broadcast on April 1st 1972, this version is taken from a 2002 rebroadcast which I recorded from Digital cable TV receiver, scart connected into a Panasonic DVD recorder. Faces are an English rock band formed in 1969 by members of Small Faces after lead singer and guitarist Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces-Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane (electric bass, vocals), and Kenney Jones (drums and percussion)-were joined by guitarist Ronnie Wood and singer Rod Stewart, both from the Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces.

Yes yes and yes
HELL YEAAAH!!
One Of my favorit bands from that time, they for sure had fun!!
The young people today have no clue what real music is. Now this is real music 🎵🎶🎸🎤🎼
The old people today (I'm 50 so that's pretty close) don't listen to or support new music. There's a Renaissance of great tunes coming out but they're not being promoted because the studio executives make more money by pushing the same old s*** from the same old artist just like always. The great thing about the internet is that there's new music but it's not going to be easily accessible because they don't want you to have it, just like payolla of the past you have to actually make an effort and listen to a bunch of different non commerical stuff before you can find the gems. That's because the Suits want the stuff that makes them the most money & they can control (The fact that there's not any more political songs is not a coincidence), not the best stuff out there. If you remember back in the day nobody played led Zeppelin, Zappa or The Doors on the radio, or anything else that was great at the time because that's not what they made the most money on or sent a pro war agenda. If you really care about music then make an effort to support it and try to research what is up and coming. Don't be like our parents who said it's all crap just because they didn't understand or try to find anything new.
The "system" has always repressed anything they couldn't exploit or control, let's give the next generation the support they need to explore music, fail sometimes & succeed and do what is necessary to actually rock out, not what's the most profitable!!!
Yeah it's only freely available on the internet.
65-75 the greatest period for music ever.
Absolutely
You have a point but there's also been a shed load of incredible but less chart or big label friendly music from '75 to the early '90s. It's vast a more varied and alot of today's music is brilliant too. There's always been alot of crap in every era but that's purely subjective.
And I grew up right in the middle of it what a lucky man I was 😊❤
@@scottviverette14 Right on. I see what you did there !! :))
@@scottviverette14
Senior in high school that year. Great rock!
You won't see anything this good on the Grammy 's
You might not see anything this good ...ever ❤
Grammy’s? I’ve forgotten the last time I saw them. I don’t miss them and good riddance
Grammys? This when music was real and serious! Today's music is fuckin' bullshit!
Awesome. I think someone has a Time Machine
It’s like the whole musical world has ran out of original or intersting thoughts these days.
It’s mind blowing how many great bands rocked this era. Rod did his best work with the Faces.
Great front man
Agreed
He was replaced with Rod 2.0 not sure what year, but it’s a different guy.
Spot on.
A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse
Let's not forget Ronnie Lane Rest In Peace
Grinding bass tone!
Rough Mix is a great record
I forgot already, you human obituary attention-seeker.
The true leader of the band.
And Mac.
Kenny Jones. One of the most underrated drummers in rock history.
There’s that word again…
By who?
Small drum kit, small combo amps, small stage, small PA, small crowd....HUGE talent.
And a few Small Faces
Dynamite comes in small ways and packages. Believe me, Sir Rid is a dynamo on that stage. He has always been Mr. Energy! ❤😊
Spot on.
There's nothing really small about that kit, it's fairly standard for the time lol and hell, today I would consider that a pretty big setup with how the trend nowadays is back to a 4 piece with only 2 cymbals.
Ronny suits The Faces better than The Stones..
He was a rhythm man and the stones needed a lead player to replace mt
...always preferred this brand of the Faces over The Stones.
@@jazzpunkalways. Better in every facet. More talent man for man.
Correct ,ronnie woods best with the faces, mick taylor best for the rolling stones. Correcticimo ...
Way better
Stewart's voice was awesome at the time. So soulful.
I'm 56 and I grew up listening to Rod Stewart, the Stones, Zeppelin, Three Dog Night, David Bowie, CCR etc. because my parents had all of those albums. Now, I own those albums and the crap that is rap and other junk that is popular amongst the youth has no heart and no soul.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂

The system works, that's why corporate music sucks........
I've said it before, but Rod Stewart was never better than he was with The Faces
He was great with Jeff Beck Group.
Python Lee Jackson wants a word.
Late 60's and early 70's...Rod was at his best
nor was Ronnie
And with Jeff beck!!!
You can see why people talk about the 'good old days' of the 60s & 70s !
A lot of Rod Stewart sins absolved with this one!
Agreed! Rod has a great voice. And he did write some bangers.
*Some bangers 😂
Rod was so lucky to have belonged to the band. He never quite matched this on his own.
Never came close to this. Should've begged Ronnie to forgive him.
Rod was all puffed up and Ronnie Lane walked out and it was all over.
@@philhubb5885 I stand corrected.
Yup. He made a ton of money after the Faces but was creatively and artistically dead so to speak
Spot on. The Faces were a real, gritty, hard working band. Rod Stewart USA was a sell out ponce.
@@stormbringerseven8288What does RS USA mean? Honest question.
“Every Picture Tells a Story” is one of the best, most exuberant, unpretentious rock’n’roll albums ever. And this is one if the best tracks. Live! Great stuff.
Agreed. I played "Every Picture" hundreds of times and it never wore out my enthusiasm.
The thing is it really Faces not just Rod
Small Faces, The Faces, Humble Pie.
3 unbelievably underrated bands.
Saw them all live, went to parties before they got too big and famous !
Another 'underrated' bs comment
There’s that word again…
By who?....not me Guvnor...😮
@@paperprincess1050
No, it's your comment that's bs
Drum solos were all the rage back in the early 70's ..Kenney Jones delivers a good'n here!
Proper Rod Stewart
We used to live in a world where FM radio would play this in its entirety. That world is gone.
Old Motown song originally written by Smokie Robinson and recorded by the Temptations.
But most Woodies don't know ,care or even Appreciate. Just Copy 😮
Arguably the most rock n roll rock n roll band of the early 70’s.
The Stones had nothing on these guys.
tHE pRETTY tHING'S WERE MUCH ROUGHTER.
Excellent band for sure!
@@MetaphyveBS
KJ is a beast on drums...!!!!!! This is such a great jam..!!!!
Agreed! What happened to this guy in The Who?!?!
Kenny Jones Awesome drummer
Best drumming I’ve heard in a while.
Great Drummer!!! Rated With the Best!!
I'm not an expert by any means but I've seen and listened to a lot of music both live and recorded in my 6 decades of life. I love a great extravagant high end production as much as any body but I also love the small venue experience. The music industry in general needs to get back to the basics of solid musical technique and craftmanship so vividly displayed here. the music business has swung too far to the extremes of giant stadium and arena shows with equally giant productions and matching ticket prices and have strayed away from the basics of a good sounding room with good production and a killer band playing their hearts out to a smallish audience. I think this video captures that elusive essence that we all crave - getting the wind knocked out of you by a hungry and aggressive ensemble that gives you goosebumps playing just mere inches away. The Faces were a powerhouse band that had it all but struggled in the shadows of their rivals. People forget how amazing Rod Stewart was when he was a part of a band as opposed to being the solo act with a backing band. Ronnie Wood and Ronnie Lane grinning ear to ear while having a ball and Kenny Jones drumming up a storm! Thank you for keeping this stuff alive!!
Ron Wood has always been an assassin on guitar
Until he wasn’t anymore….
Pure raw rockin blues. No autotune, click tracks or any other tricks. Just pure talent.
One of the best live performances ever captured on video.
Take me back there.Take me back right now!!
Great drum solo!!!
Did not know Kenny Jones pre-Who history, now it makes sense
This is as good as it gets, every one of them at the top of their game.
A great example of them doing a great job covering a great song.
Wow that is a mind blowingly great performance! Rod and Ron were both at their zenith here, imo. Who could have guessed both would go on to achieve great success with mediocrity.
That would be at the Cessna Stadium on August 22nd 1972🙂
Told my wife many times “you should have heard Rod Stewart in his early years” Now I can show her and I had no idea Ron Wood was there too.
Nice to see and hear thank you
😮 I'd forgotten how GOOD this song was. True rock and roll.
Great performance by one of the best bands ever!
Rare Earth did an awesome job of this song also
Rock & Roll as it should be. Straight ahead and in your face. Rod S. has the quintessential rock voice.
The whole power track. Magnificent. Use it as my ringtone. It's the meaty dramatic and total anthem for every man born. Play on for this is Rod at his strutting best. Kenny displays total mastery. Prefer the studio version (Every Picture..) but like this track in any version. Scares the crap.
The audience there witnessed greatness. Rock n roll played in a way by these legends that you won't ever really hear again. That was a cool era.
Absolutely brilliant. One of my favourite tunes from one of my favourite bands from the early 70s.Thank you for this
Brilliant performance. I saw them at a festival in Kent just after Rod replaced Steve Marriott (my teenage - and old age! - obsession) and they ditched the 'Small'. In the muddy fields, they all wore white suits ... but still looked well sharp 😂 Thanks for this, STV! 🤘
Everything a band should be.
I saw this same lineup a few months after this live broadcast. I was in Wichita, KS at the time and they played at an outdoor venue, and it was awesome! The keyboard player had to borrow a Hammond B3 for the concert and it just happened to belong to my friend who knew the promoters. It got damaged a little bit during the concert and my friend wasn't too happy about it. But it got to be famous for a day!
Thanks for the upload. What a gem! Great tune. Great performance. Great audio quality. Great video quality.
Ronnie Lane's bass...gnarly!
Best drum solo ever.
Amazing with Ronnie Woods before he joined the Rolling Stones after Mick Taylor 👍🔥🎵🎸
Excellent cover by The Temptations. Faces is part of rock history.
You mean people use to play real instruments and could really sing?
The young people today have no clue what great music is.. Such as this. Today's music is nothing but absolute garbage 🗑️
Yes! 😂😂😂
And not have their pants half down shooting each othee
😅 lol, yes! Amazing isn't it?
True musicians
I was born on April 1st 1970
I was exactly 2 years old when this happened
Im still loving it in 2024
I was born in 1960 and I saw a lot of good concerts growing up in Chicago.
I was born on April 18, 1970
I was not yet 2 years old when that happened
And I didn't give a damn about it back then and I still don't in 2024

Awesome
Boy loved ,loved the Faces especially Rod the Mod Stewart...saw him many times before he went solo...this is his best period for me!
This is an excellent cover of the Temptations 1966 song.
The Temptations were a fantastic influence and still are!
What a band . What a time for real music.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just outstanding
Ahh yes real rock! Rod really had it. Ronny wood! Hell yes. The good days!
Don't know the reason why these Very Talented Dudes never really made it They were and are amazing.!! RIP Ronnie Lane 🎉
I’m a drummer and I not a fan of drum solos, but Kenney Jones just kills it on this. A very underrated drummer….this is just a beast of a band.
Real music, folks. Wow, was Stewart’s voice powerful at that age.
Excellent time back when Rod was a rocker, and Ronnie left for the Stones.
Great drummer, Kenney Jones. I just bought his autobiography on Amazon.
As someone who saw live shows in the '70's DRUM SOLO!!!!
This was Rod Stewart's best bad-assed song! Plus Rare Earth's!
So F'n CRUNCHIE! Love it!
Yeah baby! The 70s was a great decade!
Rod has a great Rock and roll voice.
Really amazing how this legendary band came together.
Is nobody going to mention Macs amazing keyboard work, RIP fella. Added bonus of Ronnie L. on bass and wine bottle 🍾🍾.
Rock and Roll flexing it's wings. This one was better than all presentations at WOODSTOCK 2.
THIS kids- is Rock ‘N Roll.
Early Rod Stewart and Faces Rod Stewart was incredible. One of R&R's all time great vocalists.
Great upload. Good quality too.
Im glad you found and enjoyed this, there's link to more video of Faces at the very end of this
......."it's there when you speak my name; it's just not the same"...........this is how rock 'sposta be
A request: One of my fave songs is In A Broken Dream by Python Lee Jackson, which features Rod singing. I'm pretty sure Rod still performs this song live with his own band now (or at least up until recently) but footage of him performing with PLJ in the 70s is pretty rare. I've never seen it, put it that way. Keep an eye out for me please, STV!
That voice.
Those drums hanging on for dear life!!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME l had forgotten how these guys rocked ❤
I was born 2 days after this show. Apr. 3 1972.
What a barnstormer! Who would ever have thought that 50 plus years on Rod would be married to a Policewoman, Ronnie would be in the Stones, Kenny would have stepped in to Moons boots and the rest, as they say, is history!
Rod at his best
One of the best openings in rock
No wonder we could never tear ourselves away from the radio.
Gotta love any song with an extended drum solo.
Rod was at his best in this group!
Damn listen to that bass no doubt a big ampeg back in the day we used to call them ship anchors damn things were heavy as hell to carry around but damn did they pop out some sound you can feel it in your chest
Hearing this on the radio in the late 70's, pure magic coming through airwaves!! I thank God I was born in the late 60's!!
What a FN awesome performance! Rod Stewart can rock
From the Rod Stewart's third solo album "Every Picture Tells a Story" of 1971, original composed in U.S.A. with the psychedelic soul style ...
We did have the best mucic in the 70 the freaking best days in my life we where so free best cars with gears ❤❤❤❤
So true!
I forgot about this one! Too good to forget... 🎉❤🎉
Brilliant!
This is a fabulous thing to have for posterity.
Holy Hell . Those were the days . Can’t believe it was so long ago .!!
Right on, Rod!
Absolute perfection.
Great song. Covered by many musiciancs/bands.
My first concert was the Faces at Maple Leaf Gardens for the Nods as Good as a Wink Tour. It was life changing also on the bill Audience and Cactus.
This is the pinnacle of live music. Nothing to learn here when you have raw talent
David Ruffin's original version in 1966, when he was with The Temptations, is the only one I care about. He's up there with the greatest singers of all time.
What a fabulous performance, I was 14 when that was recorded and the Faces remain one of my favourite bands. Thanks for posting
I remember when Rod and Faces performed this song. It blew every one away!
