    Absolutely necessary. I have taken these blowers off several Hellcats. They are always coated with oil which accumulates carbon around the intake openings from natural reversion. That version is nice but I have the painted to match style mounted to the front of the engine. Looks great and easy to get to. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you some day at an event if I get to Tennessee.

    That's the best design and best looking catch Can I've seen so far.

    Nice 1st mod. Would recommend installing a tether to the thumb screw which is removed anytime the can is checked. I lost one someplace down in the fender...couldn't find even using boroscope.

    Nice Job. Love that kit that's very clear and labeled out

    The first thing I would have done would have been to install a kill switch, but that's just me. That catch can is a nice piece for sure.

    I have this can on my 22 REWB charger. I previously had a JLT can and the UPR demon can on my 2015 HC. The Improved Racing can catches way more oil. I ended up replacing the cans on my MSRT8 and Camaro SS 1LE with the same product. Best catch can there is, hands down.
    I also have their remote drain add on where you do not have to lift the can out to drain it because the packaging is a bit tight. There is a drain cock next to the drain pan plug. I would recommend that for Hellcats.

    Improved Racing and Mighty Mouse are really taking the basic catch can design to the next level. Great build quality and installation video!

    I put a catch can on my 2013 challenger RT just after I bought it, it does an awesome job keeping the oil out of the intake, nice install 👍😁

    15” conversion SHOULD be a Direct Connection option for a 315/60-15 MT Pro!

    I know the dealer I go to was taking pics I presume for warranty so they could claim catch can was at fault for any warranty work on engine 😅

    So you think SRT spent all the time and money on designing these engines and put oil in the PCV system that gets into the intake was a mistake that they have done for years? Ever think they did it for a reason? How about lubing the top pistons rings or the bottom side of the intake valve stem under the valve guide?

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  3 місяці тому

      No I think they had to compromise for cost and emissions. Glad the aftermarket takes care of us with this issue.

    • @REDZ28won
      @REDZ28won 3 місяці тому +3

      @@SpeedysGarage So for emissions they let more oil get burned? Makes no sense.

    • @alopez2006
      @alopez2006 3 місяці тому +2

      @@REDZ28wonyup. In CA you can’t have a catch can or you will fail inspection.

      The factory PCV exists so that vacuum can be pulled from the crank case. This helps performance and with gasket sealing. Big power guys even add vacuum pumps to their cars. The oil that gets by without a can is a byproduct. It coats everything and reduces the octane of your fuel.

    Speedy you made a comment after using the previous style you still had oil in the blower. This is a common problem but it doesn’t have anything to do with the catch-can and everything to do with the intake blower gasket. Once the pressure breaches the seal into the oil filler block off it over pressurizes the crankcase and forces oil past the catch can. I bought a set of gaskets from forced induction interchiller - problem solved.

    You absolutely need a catch can on these cars. Another good video speedy. Thanks.

    Your first mod should be stuffing much larger tires on 15" wheels under that thing. You have the HP, you just need to be able to put it down on any surface.

    Glad to see you once again modifying your Challenger. Coalescing filters are not going to remove all or even the majority of vapors, maybe the cyclonic separation is a better method. My BT removes a lot but still a lot goes into the cumbustion chamber. I'm not convinced blow by does any harn on an NA engine but I keep thinking less is better. The 5.7 in the RAM has 220K with no catch can and runs fine.
    LMAO looking at the full washer bottle on your Demon 170. Next mod, 10 lb weight reduction.

    Glad you changed to orientation of the output line. Not sure if the arch might allow for any residual oil to run down hill so to speak. The output line having more of a belly I would be curious if any oil collects in the hose between the catch can and pcv.

    That looks like a very well-designed and made kit! Not a fan of the fender mount though. I guess one could say it is a mod, but it's a must in my book. Looking forward to results over time to see how it does.

    A lot of know-it-alls naysay the catch can idea. Do they really work? I dont know. Dont care. Got one on my 300 SRT. My car, I'll do whatever the hell I want to it.

  • @LMBC6Brian
    @LMBC6Brian 3 місяці тому +2

    People (like you) tend to forget that car enthusiasts make up only a FRACTION of the total hemi challenger/charger/ram/durango/300 and so on owners. Even hellcat owners. My bet is that 20 to 1 hellcats dont nor will ever have a catch can. Now if we take those type of rough numbers, then there should be an absolute epidemic of broken supercharger/engines and so on with the sheer volume of these cars out in the wild. But there isnt. You are in a very small subset of the minority that seems to think that a catch can is not only recommended but necessary. You would be the one that is 100% wrong. This is a placebo nothing more. you could run that engine/supercharger to 100k miles of HARD driving, and never see an issue no matter what the intake valves look like. This is not something you need period.
