@mattappleton9549 Yessir. You will most certainly need some sort of slip joint in the rear shaft. Unless your link bars are the exact same length as the driveshaft extremely unlikely) your rear driveshaft with need to be able to change length.
Hugely appreciated, Nathan! 🙏 Ironically the videos that I slap together in one day perform the best, and then the ones I put my heart and soul in (or six months of prep) don’t do as well. So your words are cherished more than you know. Cheers mate!
I concur! Your stunt doubles, diagrams and presentation are top notch. Reminds me of watching Mr. Wizard and Bob Ross as a child. It’s quite nostalgic.
I have to chime in, like you, I NEED to know why, or I don't understand how it's applied. When I know why, I know how to apply it to what I'm doing. Keep up the great work Aaron.
I’ve never responded to a UA-cam comment… Just kidding. Thank you, Joseph! I wish you could’ve seen the childish joy that came over me the first time I learned U joint magic. Cheers my man!! 👊
YESSSS! Just yesterday I checked your channel to see if I had been, once again, unsubbed from one of my favorite channels (I frickin HATE that about YT). Been missing your content. As soon as I just saw the alert, I dumped the current video I was watching and came here - lol. As I've said before, you my friend, have a gift for teaching. The props and the humor make learning fun and interesting for this old boy. Never a dull moment when watching your stuff. If the teachers at our public schools had half of your teaching skills, this country would be so much higher in the world rankings. Seriously. You have a gift young man. Thank you for sharing it with us mortals - lol.
I always love your comments. I’ve usually got a sore jaw from smiling afterward. I can’t help but wonder what other video you were watching. If it was a cat video, I’m incredibly honored that you’d make such a quick switch. Nothing beats cat videos. As always, my friend, thank you for the kind words. You help make this “job” a little less thankless. Cheers!
I know this is old content, but I’m designing a parallel 4 link rear airbag suspension for my f350, and this was BY FAR, the most helpful, simple to understand, playlist of info I could find anywhere. From setting pinion angle, to simplifying the rectangle shape I need for the links, bushing type, perfection. Thank you for putting this together it should be in mechanical classrooms everywhere!
I am one of those that are happy to see you back. This video was very interesting, and now what I thought was the answer for my lifted 4x4 van; I am now not sure is the answer. Ironically, the channel that has taught me the most about my lifted vehicle talks about lowering vehicles.😂 Jason
I keep hearing that! And I’m super excited about it. There’s a lot of mini truckers out there but limiting to a single crowd would be limiting growth. I’m thrilled other car cultures are finding value in these videos. Thank you, Jason! I appreciate you.
Just watched the basic suspension videos and I gotta say. 1. I love the way you verbally explain things. Its both educational and humorous. 2. I mega appreciate the fact you take time to make visual explanations and that they're not all just animated. You take real time and effort into explaining it so people watching and listening can learn. You are nailing what you're trying to do so dont stop. Keep it up! You guys have the right energy!
In thirty years being a teacher/instructor in vocational subjects, I made many teaching aids. Your demonstration using your teaching aid is absolutely brilliant, and your voice-over the same. Thanks for posting it!
Dude I am a small truck guy, on the drag race side. I have learned more from you about suspension in an hour than years of reading books and trying to piece information together. Thank you!
I appreciate that, my man!! I could probably learn a thing or two from you as well. My knowledge revolves around proper operation of suspension components for the sake of lifting and lowering. But I lack a lot knowledge about physics, traction, handling, etc. Always stay learning!
Something I love about the automotive field is that's there's always guys who know more than you, always something new to learn! Appreciate your efforts on this detailed video 👏
And mysteriously that’s always the case no matter how much we learn. I wonder who the person is that knows more than anyone else alive. $100 says he still admits he doesn’t know everything. Thank you my friend! 🙏
5 minutes in, and this is already the best video on this subject I’ve seen yet, and the rest of your content is excellent also. Keep up the good work.👍👌
Great video man! Can’t express enough how much I appreciate the level of effort that has gone into the video, as well as in general just being able to access such great information without the need to go to school, people like yourself allow others to continue to grow and learn, thanks heaps!
“Positive and encouraging.” I couldn’t be happier with a compliment. All I wanna do is help people smile and enjoy an already rewarding hobby. Glad to be back, Jay! Thank you. 🙏
This content qualifies as educational, certainly, but the presentation is what makes this so valuable. When you, as a learner/student/listener absorb content so easily, it means you have found an educator, someone who has put such thought into the presentation of the information, that the probability of understanding and absorption is highly significant. You're a genius and I'm so grateful to accidently happen upon a great content creator!
I’m grateful for you back! I grew up struggling through school with very low self esteem. It wasn’t until long after graduation that I realized I wasn’t a complete moron. Instead it was caused by a mixture of boredom, a lack of challenge and meaningfulness of school, and teachers inability to engage the minds of students. (Some teachers. Others were nothing short of incredible.)
the dedication you put into making your channel fun to watch is crazy. been waiting on your next video definitely did not disappoint keep up the great work
I know absolutely nothing about custom car design and building. I love your content and how it makes the topic accessible to someone of my low skill/knowledge but high interest.
That’s amazing, Roger. I guess I assumed that some knowledge would be needed in order for Garage Fab content to even be watchable. That’s great to hear that may not be true. Thrilled you enjoyed it my friend! Cheers!
Great presentation. I see a lot of videos (watched another one right before this) where it is obvious to me that the creator doesn't actually know what they are talking about or care about accurately informing people and they just want to create content. I can tell that you really took the time to understand the subject matter and present it in a way that is easy for people to understand. Well done! The only thing I'd quibble with is that there is an upper limit to which the single joint at each end can work well and run smoothly. Which is usually where the double cardan enters the picture, at least in our world of lifted vehicles like Jeeps. But anyway, great video!. As someone who makes drive shafts and whose life is easier when customers understand things like this, thank you!
Thank you, Brother! (Is this Shawn? Tom?) I very much appreciate your kind words. I spent some time on your videos when preparing my own. I’m going to pin your comment in hopes people will see it and have a source for additional info. There is a LOT of things I had to cut from the video for the sake of time. I’ve already considered a Suspension Basics 6.5 to discuss angles specifically. (Max angles, minimum angles, calculating angles, etc.) Thanks again! 🙏
@@GarageFab Yeah, this is Shawn! Keep up the good work. I'd love to chat with you about a couple things and ask you a couple questions. If you have a few minutes give me a call or send me an email. You can find my contact info on the contact us page of our website.
Props for the props! I’m such a visual learner and your style of teaching is the best way to teach for anyone, in my opinion. Glad you’re back. Can’t wait for the next lesson!
Have to agree fully with this. the graphic showing the shorter upper arm vs. lower, it was drilled into us and I have tried to draw it out, but I'd pay for a copy of that graphic!
I'm currently at the end of my 3rd year of my technician apprenticeship and I gotta say that short video made me understand drive shafts, u joints and pinion angle 10x better than the imi course my collage uses. Thank you 🙌
Back in the day , stuffed a 350 in a 240 Z hanging the block in place suspended a few inchs in the engine bay , beefy springs, ,clearance" & drive shaft alignment & stock independent suspension, squat & go came off the alignment of the pinion straight thru , mock tack in place engine mount trans mount, loop, but never went thru u-joints like I did on a charger w balance ds
Within 3° up down but trying to get accurate alignment by lowering block/trans bolted to rear end drive line as weight changes ,torque load changes, no bind no noise no internet" did a solid axel leaf spring VW gasser 327 tunnel ram velocity stack cartoon car no rear fenders 10 in slicks pizza cutters up front, firewall cut for trans tunnel drive shaft was long as forearm 😂 power glide 4:88"s 12 bolt no shocks no springs , bolted to the frame" the white tornado". caged & lite but braking on the end of the 1/8 and get some rear wheel hop fun fun
Whoa!!! My mind just got blown! That was a great explanation of pinion angle and U-joints, and how they interact to cause/eliminate vibration. I really liked your training aid. It really showed how the link bars keep pinion angle set. I know in your first episode you wanted to share what you have learned over the years, and I will tell you, you are really good at teaching this stuff. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. Keep up the good work.
My pleasure, Ronald! Happy to be of service. I’ve known a lot of kind people that were generous with their time and knowledge. It’s just my way of trying to pay it forward. Cheers!
„I don’t know how about you but when I first watched it, it was absolute magic!” I was literally awaiting three important (for me) “video events” this year: 1. The first series of “Reacher” on Amazon - fully satisfied! 2. The release of “The rings of power” - well… in the end I’m waiting for the next one, anyway… 3. A new episode from you - and I don’t know how comparable is your budget with the Amazon’s one for “the rings” (cause I noticed how you invested in hiring more actors 🤪) but on my personal hit list only Reacher beats you (but he beats everyone he faces, so no reason to be ashamed 😂). Seriously, you have a real gift for explaining things in a way that leaves no place for doubt. I admire your sense of humor, your knowledge, professionalism and everything about your production. Outstanding piece of work! Thank you! 🫡
Every once and again I receive a comment that makes every sleep deprived day and every neck ache at the computer worth continuing. I’ll present you with that award today. 🏆 I took several months off to ponder how important UA-cam is to me. But in the process I realized that’s not the point. I should be asking how important Garage Fab videos are to everyone else. Folks like you help me to see that I’m not wasting my time and energy. A very genuine thank you, Michał for the motivation and energy to keep moving forward. 🙏 …and for another worthwhile goal; To beat Reacher.
I was very happy to see new content atmdded. I have gone back and watched other videos several times because I truly enjoy how you make them. I am glad your back at it no matter how many videos you post, or even how often. Thank you for what you do it means a lot to an old miniturcker. Getting ready to do another build, so I'll be watching again.
Yes! What are your plans for the new build?! I appreciate your kind words, Shawn. I've decided to not kill myself with a strict schedule but I do enjoy the creative process so there will certainly be a fairly decent flow of content. Can't wait to see your new project!
@Garage Fab I have a mazda b2200 that I have made an extended cab with a regular bed, never was a factory option. I have built a stock floor frame for it, but not real happy with how it's tied in. The plans going forward to build a new frame from firewall back an build all custom frame instead if trying to tie into the old rear suffrage. After watching some of your videos it makes me want to do a better job, not that there is really anything wrong with what I have I just know I can do better and some of the tips you have show will make it much easier.
Dude!!! I have watched COUNTLESS hours of YT videos and did not get 20% of the information that you shared in this series!!!! Thank you!!! I am now going forward with a four link rear suspension with more confidence than I thought possible!! Your presentation and visual aids make this channel above and beyond the others!!!
Thank you, Brad! That’s more appreciated than I can even express. The entire goal of the channel was to give people the knowledge and confidence to take on big projects. So to hear those exact words from a viewer is incredibly special. If you’ve got questions, hit me up here, on Instagram @GarageFab, or email GarageFab702@gmail.com Best of luck my friend! 👊
I've watched 5 videos on the same subject, but you explained it the best. Concise, at a very reasonable speed to process the information. The graphics made it easily understandable. You would make an great teacher. Keep up the awesome content!
That was just fantastic. Finally after all these decades I finally understand what is going on with the angles and how they affect things. Thank you so much!
My dad repaired a crane and repaired the drive shaft while replacing the motor. He timed the drive shaft that he found to be off 90 degrees. The crane operator claimed he was able to drive the machine at 2x the speed it used to go down the road at. Timing U joints is real!
So good to see you back at it! You're videos answer soooo many questions that a lot of us have. You explain and more importantly, show how things work in a real world application. Keep at it my man!
I love your content! I spent 45+ years in the automotive industry (35 as a tech). I have a new career now…I teach high school auto tech. I love it!! Because it is done so well, I am using your content in my classroom. The visual/audible example of cardin joint speed-up-slow-down in this video has really helped my students to understand this topic. (YOU BUILT A VERY COOL TEACHING AID!!) My transition from doer to teacher has been helped by you and your content. Thank you and God bless you!
Thank you Michael! That means a lot to me, really. Occasionally I get comments that I print out and frame on a motivational wall. This will be one of those. I never saw myself as a teacher when I was young. (I hated school with a passion.) But now I find myself constantly seeking knowledge and simultaneously I feel myself being pulled into the realm of teaching. I can see myself following in your footsteps. Tell your students I said Hi!👋
Thank you for making this. I am always building/working on 4WD vehicles and this series has been so helpful explaining 4 links and pinion angle to my kids. I love how your goal is for and airbag suspension on a lowered vehicle but your explanation is so well done the principles are easy to digest and apply to 4WD rigs and everything else.
I'm thrilled to hear that a NON air suspension enthusiast finds value in the videos! There's a lot of Minitruckers out there but it would be a shame to limit Garage Fab to a single crowd. And even better than that is your kids getting in on Dad's hobby. Raising them right. Thank you, Jimmy! I appreciate you. Hope to see you around in future videos. Cheers!
Our boy has just started studying for automotive. Going to show him these when he’s ready. Easily explained! I even tested a guy on DS joint phasing the other week and he was stumped. I’m still learning watching these.
Welcome back! Being one of the subscribers that you earned while taking time to gather your thoughts, I would like you to know that your content is amazing. You go into more detail than anyone else on these subjects and keep things entertaining. It’s just as good as watching Project Binky!
I keep hearing about this Project Binky! I think I’m finally gonna need to check it out. Thank you my man!! And welcome. I’m pleased to have you. You in the next one! And the next. 🍻
Welcome back to the matrix Morpheus .as always a great video. Robin Williams would have loved your sense of humor. You are a great Teacher. Glad you're back.
I am a automotive jurnyman and weld and fab and machining and racecar stuff and also owned a driveline shop etc... I can say your videos are perfect. Acurate info. Complete info and explanations. Engauging. Good humor. All the right ingredients. So I know most all this stuff but still enjoy watching and really appreciate you getting the details and science right. Bravo!
Words cannot express how much I appreciate your kind words, my friend. These videos are intended for the less-knowledgeable but it’s awesome to see someone with more experience finds value in them. Thank you! 🙏
Ur a funny guy with those clips lol. But the excellence of what ive been watching on this channel is just amazing 👏 I never knew how wrong I was on my backwoods rear setups over the many many years I wanna thank you for taking the time to make and edit these videos for us. I truly injoy watching
You and me both Frank! A lot of what I’ve learned so far is either from mistakes or brilliant people that kept me from making them. I’ve built some sketchy stuff! Soon I’ll be building sketchy stuff on purpose just for UA-cam! 😂
You are indeed the best, clear, precise and concise with no unnecessary background noise or music . We car guys understand you so well. Keep up the great work mate, looking forward to more vids from Garage Fab. Cheers
No worries-pretty much everything me and my son build has air suspension so your channel really relates-I’m actually setting up my driveline angles today on my 64 Chevelle
I just purchased my first truck (2000 s-10) and this channel has helped be understand the ins and outs of air ride. Thanks to you I will be creating a safe vehicle. Thank you.
Bro the matrix intro/outro looked so good I legit thought it was a clip from one of the films at first …and then when the handsome fella in the yellow shirt came on screen and asked that question and you just straight up laughed in your face I LOST it lmao 💀💀 …and then you cut that double cardan section of that drive shaft in half just to get that 2 second shot just to help us understand better….I’m just tryin to say that I see you bro. And all of the effort that it must take to put together content like this that explains relatively difficult topics effectively and simply and is genuinely entertaining and funny at the same time. I watched a bunch of pinion angle videos and read through so many forum threads and not a single one thought to mention the importance of ensuring that the u-joints are “in-phase”. It might be something so obvious and simple that nobody else imagined that someone could mess that up… but yeah I really appreciate you helping me to fix my 96 bronco’s driveline. I’ve never been so stoked to subscribe to a UA-cam channel. Thanks again, man!
Thank you, Alden! That means more to me than you know. I appreciate you watching and even more so taking the time to write that. That will likely be one of the few comments I print and frame in my office to help keep the motivation to continue. Thrilled to have you my friend! I’ll see you in the next one. 🍻
You just restored faith in UA-cam for me, mate! So much poxy content that provides anything but what you want to learn, from people that don't know their stuff. Watching this was an INVESTMENT of my time. Thank YOU!
This is by FAR the best explained matter over all in whole UA-cam app! Thank you for making this type of content and sharing it with us. I just wish school would of been this easy to understand, I could be driving a rover in Mars!
When we evaluated presentations, we were instructed no instruction could recieve all 4's. Per usual, out of the park! This could even be understood in just audio. Best I've ever seen. Going to apply this lesson to the coupe when that time comes over the winter.
Wait… So does it get at least 3’s? 😂 Thank you, Willie! Always a joy hearing from you. If you need a mental hand with the project, you know where to find me!
Great stuff bro, just remember yo look after your self first, and keep these video's coming, I have passed your UA-cam channel to a few low ride truck builders
Welcome back to the land of the living! Being a subscriber I'm always hyped up to receive your content. Because of my hectic work schedule I had a shop bag and body my macro cab Mighty Max. We both decided that a parallel 4 Link would work best. I must admit I learned something new then and now. My installer told me that it's best to keep the link bars parallel with the drive shaft & tranny. I thought he was nuts for telling me this a year and a half ago. But I went along with it. I previously went by tilting the rear end downward 2 - 3 degrees. But I wound up having more trouble in the long run using that method. Love the direction and the illustration and all the gags you put into these skits. Thank you for all that you do and share. It will always be much appreciated. 💯✊🏿👌🏿🙏🏿🙌🏿👏🏿🙌🏿👏🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@GarageFab Mighty Max isn't going anywhere. Especially a MacroCab automatic that are impossible to come by. I drive it to work at 3 days week. LMAO U portraying morpheus 🤭😅🤣😂
Some UA-camrs post every day....... To me, that's nuts. Yes, UA-camrs can generate a lot of money. Their channel turned from fun to a full time job... which may take the fun out because of the pressure to produce. Best to find an equilibrium. Produce when it feels right. If daily or weekly, monthly or randomly works, then do what works. This Old Tony took a long break for personal reasons. He's not back as often, but I think his followers, like yours, simply find a new video like an unexpected present. This is the first time I've seen your channel. I'm very impressed. You've got something. Excellent information. Excellent demonstration and just the right amount of well done humor. I done learned a lot. Great video 👍
Thank you, Randy! That’s appreciated more than you know my friend. Balance!… is something I haven’t found yet. You’re absolutely right, once you put deadlines in place it kinda zaps the fun. The big problem is trying to maintain a channel with another full time job. I can envision just making videos all day, and even with the deadline, it would be quite enjoyable. Hopefully I’ll get to experience that one day and I’ll report back to you. Cheers mate!
This takes me back. As i got wiser to air rides i realized i never checked my pinion angles. Which explains why my “ hacked air shocks” adapted 1/4hard line to 3/8 valves w a semi stock monoleaf setup was absorbing any vibration. After watching emissions guy rev that 1st gear higher an higher the amount of differential gymnastics without a bed i knew it had to be done right. The guy handed me the keys smiling ear to ear an complimented how cool it felt. i was smiling i got to sit in the plexiglass box safely . Good shit man🤙
I wanted to reach out to you before you get too big and don't have time to read every comment. This is not something I normally do, but I wanted to thank you for this. Super simple explanation and fun to watch. For Christmas, I picked up my first welder. Your channel has truly motivated the fabricator in me. Again, just thank you and keep having fun with it while you're moving forward.
Thank you Ron! That means a lot to me. Comments will always be very important to me, so I will ALWAYS read them. Unfortunately it’s getting harder and harder to respond, so I’ll likely have to start getting picky by perhaps responding only to those with questions. Unsure. We’re not there yet. That said! If you’ve got questions, do you know where to find me! Best of luck with the welding. I’ll help where I can. Cheers, Rob!
I watched this on the porcelain throne this morning. I was so excited that I watched the whole episode. Stood up and fell over cause my legs were asleep. Great episode!!
Haha! Sorry, Brother! I’ll try to make the videos more circulation friendly. I’ve been experiencing the same wobbly walk back to my tool box after trying answer as many comments as possible on the toilet. Thank you, Ed! Good to see you again.
Sir ... another jolly good tutorial !!! ... Aaron you have a gift not only as a top tier level fabricator but also to teach what you have learned , what has worked for you and what to avoid . Thanks a mint . Keep on keeping on or as you say keep moving forward . Back in my day we would say ... Keep on Truckin'
nicely done. as an engineer and hobby hot-rodder this is the best and clearest explanation of the mysteries of U-joints that i have seen. once upon a time before i knew the importance of timing the yokes on the shaft, i fabbed one for my 65 el camino and went for a wild ride.....
@@GarageFab you may wish to rethink that sentiment! there was no speedo and i dont know how fast i was going (+-90-ish) when she shifted into 3rd and started pulling - but the whole car was shaking so hard it nearly bounced me off the road. The Good Lord watches over children and fools.....
Every time I watch your videos I wanna go work in the garage but instead gotta walk my ass into my job….glad you’re back! Great video!!! 20k is amazing can’t wait to watch where you guys go!
I really enjoy the content and the script... it looks like hard work but a lot of fun, too. Whenever I teach a new concept, I go into the lab and fabricate a contraption that illustrates the idea visually. It works for them, and it works for your audience.
Now that my friend is a well documented, extremely useful, informative, presentation that was fun to watch. Thank You, I'm grateful to have found, & become a subscriber to your channel. It's easy to see why your subscriber base continues to grow.
Excellent quality video! I love the simple explanation along with the physical parts that we can see in action! Really helps to understand what is happening under our vehicles. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thanks for coming back. This video is the best as of yet. I watch your videos even though they are not relative to my builds. Looking forward to more content.
Thank you, Jason! What are you building? I’ve got some off-the-wall projects coming that will probably be even less relative! 😂 See you in the next one, Brother!

I'll be looking out for any new vidoes and putting previous ones on rotation in a regular playlist. I love your vidoes and want to support you for the great content. I've been using streaming services for my main source of entertainment for a few years now and you are only 1 of 3 channels that I subscribe to. You got full support from me.
Even though it was content I already understood, your clear explanation is impressive, and certainly will enlighten all who watch it. Fantastic presentation, and yes, keep moving forward.
Dude! Great video! I’m kept up at night because I got in a debate with a guy who mated a transfer case to an ifs diff directly with a single u joint at about 10* of angle. I told him it’s not going to work and it’s going to destroy everything attached to it, but he swears it works and doesn’t vibrate. “Can’t have a single u joint out of time” was his response. It’s a very popular rig on social media and at events. So he either lied and changed it, or my mind is still blown. (It never seems to make it in a camera angle).
Thank you my friend! I’m fascinated by this but I’m unclear on how this was constructed. Are you saying this driveshaft only had one U joint? Or only one U joint was at 10°? I’d love to know more, and I wish I could see it. Can you send me in the right direction without a negative shout out? Or do you have Instagram perhaps? @GarageFab
@@GarageFab There was no shaft. Just a single u-joint connected to 2 yokes. I'll send you the post on instagram. It is crazy. Mostly just because he claims it works.
Oh!!! 😳 Ok, I’m on board. It would absolutely work! But in theory it should be providing one hell of a massage! 2° is a commonly recommended max angle to avoid vibration. I’ve seen 4° with no detectable vibration but never 10°!
Love the content of your videos! Especially this one regarding driveline angles. I own a driveshaft shop and frequently deal with these issues on customers vehicles. I would like to add that when using a double cardan setup that the rear joint angle going into the pinion should be relatively flat. Often times people think installing a double cardan joint at the transmission side will correct their issues, but they fail to realize that adjusting the pinion angle is also necessary.
Agreed! I tried to make your point clear with the light switch comparison but I’m afraid it got a bit convoluted. I’m considering another video specifically for those that ask, “What joints and what angles should I use for my suspension?” There will be significantly less explanation of WHY each setup would be used in that video since this video already exists. It would be more of a quick reference guide. “You’ve got a 2 link? Install a double Cardan at the trans, a single in the rear, and position your differential about degree below straight with your drive shaft at half-travel.” Thank you for the kind words my friend!
Your props and video editing make all the difference in the world and is the obvious difference between your "new" channel and every other startup channel on You Tube. Things as simple as the playing with the aperture during still shots. mics, and transitions are near production levels. So if your doing it yourself.. Wow. If your paying someone to do it, it is money WELL spent. Obviously your personality, speech cadence and continuity are either natural or well trained. KUDOS to you.
Words cannot express how much that means to me my friend. You mentioned things that I assumed the majority of people wouldn’t notice. It’s a one-man-band at the moment. I hope one day to at least have an editor but the funding just isn’t there yet. I’ve been a photographer since I was 13 including being a professional wedding photographer for 7ish years. I’ve always had an interest in Hollywood and behind the scenes stuff. This is why you’ll often get mini sketches in the middle of a video. It’s just fun to create. Thanks again, and Happiest of New Years to you!
Absolutely. If you drop the front frame rather than lifting it like I did it will lift the truck. Just keep in mind you don’t get any extra ground clearance under the engine crossmember unless you raise the motor mounts and rebuild that crossmember.
My guy, your ability to make mildly complicated information dumb enough for us unknowledgeable folks is on par with guys like This Old Tony. 💪🏼💪🏼 thanks for your great content.
I think there is a genuine appreciation for your wisdom and unique and entertaining way of explaining ideas and concepts I have no idea of where and who to ask for advice. Thank you
Great explanation on the dynamics involved here. So now I know why old Datsuns had a problem rear end. Since the last time here I made myself a engine stand for my motor bike. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
I found this video very educational and is motivating me to fix the problem I created. In lowering my 2005 Chevy Silverado LT (I did this so my wife could navigate into the truck) it now has a 25-35 mph vibration. Your video explains well my problem.
That is an amazing video! Even thought I understand the concept now it took a lot of reading and research to figure out! I wish this video where up years ago. The amount of work put in to the production value has to be more than imaginable but it will be here for years to come and hopefully pay dividends! Thank you
Thank you for that my friend! Six months of work on and off, but it seems to be worth it already. It’s paid plenty in the form of appreciation from viewers. That’s more than I could’ve asked for. 🙌
Awesome explanation of how to set u-joint. One of the best set of videos I have seen on UA-cam. Trying to set up a 69 c30 with a 4 link but had questions on which way to go.
This video is absolutely insane. I've been fighting a transmission/pinion angle misalignment on my lowered LS swapped s10 and this gave me so much insight into how to diagnosis my issue. Ultimately I will need to go to a 4 link, but this gives me some ideas in how I can fix my pinion angle issues prior to that. Thank you so much for the effort you put into this video!
This is the best video I have seen on this subject. Your illustrations and props are top notch. I have had some factory training from a large company in the business of drivetrain and it wasn’t this good. The sprockets on the driveshaft showing the different speeds of each section of shaft blew me away. I am a new subscriber!
Had GM's vibration class back in 91, Understood this perfectly as the class had the same tooling as you do....fixed a lot of vehicles over the years with this knowledge. Thanks for a sharable version.
This episode is priceless. I don't work on or modify cars, but I just bought a tractor with PTO shaft driven implements. The information you have given me is invaluable to eliminate vibrations in my PTO driven implements.
40 years working on cars from dealerships to speed shops and that simple demonstration explained everything. 👌
Thank you, David. 🙏 I appreciate that!
@@GarageFab hell yeah you put the humpty dance jam lol... nice video I'm gonna balance my drive shaft today
Thank you! Lemme know how things go!

@mattappleton9549 Yessir. You will most certainly need some sort of slip joint in the rear shaft. Unless your link bars are the exact same length as the driveshaft extremely unlikely) your rear driveshaft with need to be able to change length.
I just have to say I really appreciate the level of work you put into this video.... cant even imagine the hours you put into this
Hugely appreciated, Nathan!
Great illustrated and made video
Your absolutely Right! Was something very soothing about that, ;)@@StoryOfJames.
I have to chime in, like you, I NEED to know why, or I don't understand how it's applied. When I know why, I know how to apply it to what I'm doing. Keep up the great work Aaron.
I've never responded to any UA-cam video but the actual driveshaft sprocket sound is undisputable. Perfect explanation.
Cheers!

You got a problem with bromance, Darrel? 😆

So very much appreciated Jared. Lemme know if you get stuck. You know where to find me. Best of luck my friend!
I am one of those that are happy to see you back. This video was very interesting, and now what I thought was the answer for my lifted 4x4 van; I am now not sure is the answer. Ironically, the channel that has taught me the most about my lifted vehicle talks about lowering vehicles.😂
Jason
Thank you my friend! I appreciate that more than you know. You’ve given me some much needed motivation. Cheers!
In thirty years being a teacher/instructor in vocational subjects, I made many teaching aids. Your demonstration using your teaching aid is absolutely brilliant, and your voice-over the same. Thanks for posting it!
Thank you! That means a lot to me. Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work.👍👌
Thank you, my friend! That means a lot to me. 🙏 Hope to see you in future episodes! Cheers!
Great video man! Can’t express enough how much I appreciate the level of effort that has gone into the video, as well as in general just being able to access such great information without the need to go to school, people like yourself allow others to continue to grow and learn, thanks heaps!
So glad you’re back! Best, most positive and encouraging fabrication channel out there. Can’t wait for your next episode!
Your content also helps motivate some of us to get back on the projects sitting around unfinished.
Dang. Maybe I should watch some of my own videos! I could use a little of that unfinished project motivation. 😂
Thank you, Corey! 🙏
I was in a blah mood until I started watching this video. Thank you for changing my mood. Much more to be learned than just fab work.
the dedication you put into making your channel fun to watch is crazy. been waiting on your next video definitely did not disappoint keep up the great work
Thank you Edward! 🙏 I’m glad it shows. You shouldn’t have to wait long for next this time. Cheers my friend.
The u joints are out of phase and you need a double at the front.
(Max angles, minimum angles, calculating angles, etc.)
Thanks again! 🙏
@@GarageFab Yeah, this is Shawn! Keep up the good work. I'd love to chat with you about a couple things and ask you a couple questions. If you have a few minutes give me a call or send me an email. You can find my contact info on the contact us page of our website.

Not many people have the gift of giving people the confidence to go out and build their dream vehicles like you do!
Thank you my friend! I hoped to give motivation but certainly didn’t expect confidence. But I’ll take it! I appreciate you. 🙏

One of my favorite UA-camrs I've seen all your videos multiple times to learn more
Thank you, Ivan! I appreciate you. Hopefully the UA-cam Gods will see that and share with others with the same craving for knowledge. Cheers!
Better than Penn & Teller because you actually explain the magic . Invaluable information! Thanks man!!
Haha! Man I loved Penn and Teller as a kid. I kinda still do. Thank you Leon! 🙏
I'm currently at the end of my 3rd year of my technician apprenticeship and I gotta say that short video made me understand drive shafts, u joints and pinion angle 10x better than the imi course my collage uses. Thank you 🙌

Cheers!

Haha! Thank you Chris! I hope you enjoy the rest of it. 😂
„I don’t know how about you but when I first watched it, it was absolute magic!”
I was literally awaiting three important (for me) “video events” this year:
1. The first series of “Reacher” on Amazon - fully satisfied!
2. The release of “The rings of power” - well… in the end I’m waiting for the next one, anyway…
I took several months off to ponder how important UA-cam is to me. But in the process I realized that’s not the point. I should be asking how important Garage Fab videos are to everyone else. Folks like you help me to see that I’m not wasting my time and energy. A very genuine thank you, Michał for the motivation and energy to keep moving forward. 🙏
…and for another worthwhile goal;
To beat Reacher.
Oh… by the way, my budget was $57 and some change.
I've been building cars for 25 years as a hobby and I never understood the pinion angle until now. Thanks for the lesson!
Thank you Mike! In the grand scheme of things, I just learned myself not all that long ago.
If you’ve got questions, hit me up here, on Instagram @GarageFab, or email GarageFab702@gmail.com

So glad you're back big guy. Keep up the great and needed content.
I appreciate you, Rick! And I’m super happy to be back at it. Thank you. 🙏
I've watched 5 videos on the same subject, but you explained it the best. Concise, at a very reasonable speed to process the information. The graphics made it easily understandable. You would make an great teacher. Keep up the awesome content!
Yes! Thank you for that Charlie. 🙏 That made my day.
That was just fantastic. Finally after all these decades I finally understand what is going on with the angles and how they affect things. Thank you so much!
My pleasure. Happy to help my friend!
My dad repaired a crane and repaired the drive shaft while replacing the motor. He timed the drive shaft that he found to be off 90 degrees. The crane operator claimed he was able to drive the machine at 2x the speed it used to go down the road at. Timing U joints is real!
That is fascinating!
So good to see you back at it! You're videos answer soooo many questions that a lot of us have. You explain and more importantly, show how things work in a real world application. Keep at it my man!
Thank you Shawn! I’m thrilled to be back in the saddle. I appreciate your words. They definitely help with some much needed motivation. 🙏

Good shit man🤙
Haha! That’s amazing. Good stuff.

I really enjoy the content and the script... it looks like hard work but a lot of fun, too. Whenever I teach a new concept, I go into the lab and fabricate a contraption that illustrates the idea visually. It works for them, and it works for your audience.
Truth! I thought I was in a minority of visual learners but that actually seems to be most people!
Thank you, James.
Now that my friend is a well documented, extremely useful, informative, presentation that was fun to watch. Thank You, I'm grateful to have found, & become a subscriber to your channel. It's easy to see why your subscriber base continues to grow.
Thank you, Rickey! Your words mean a lot to me. Glad to have you my man! I look forward to seeing you in future videos. 🍻
Excellent quality video! I love the simple explanation along with the physical parts that we can see in action! Really helps to understand what is happening under our vehicles.
Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thank you, Jason! I appreciate that more than you know. 🙏
@@GarageFab In the middle of a 1972 C10 autocross build with QA1 full suspension install and 6.0 LS swap. And just got done with a 1970 Chevelle cruiser with a Holley Sniper EFI upgrade.
Sounds like you’re gonna get sick of me really fast! I better bring in dinner more characters. Can’t wait to see your builds my man!
Regardless of quality, which is always the bestest, I'm liking this vid first and foremost for the pinion angle.
Thank you, Jeremy! Hopefully the info will come in handy. Cheers my friend!
Even though it was content I already understood, your clear explanation is impressive, and certainly will enlighten all who watch it. Fantastic presentation, and yes, keep moving forward.
Thank you, Dan! I appreciate the kind words. I never planned to spread enlightenment but I'll take it!! Have a great week, my friend!
I’m considering another video specifically for those that ask, “What joints and what angles should I use for my suspension?”
There will be significantly less explanation of WHY each setup would be used in that video since this video already exists. It would be more of a quick reference guide. “You’ve got a 2 link? Install a double Cardan at the trans, a single in the rear, and position your differential about degree below straight with your drive shaft at half-travel.”
Thank you for the kind words my friend!
Boy,….. the light bulb in my head just came back on!! Nice demonstration, thank you
My pleasure Robert! Thanks for watching. 🙏
Glad you are back. Was begging to think the worst.
Sorry, Martin! I didn’t mean to stress you out! 😅 Just needed a little vacation. Glad to be back!
@@GarageFab The method you used on the Mighty Max front suspension, can it be used to lift a truck?
Thank you, Philip! I appreciate your kind words, and for a very flattering comparison. Cheers my friend!
I think there is a genuine appreciation for your wisdom and unique and entertaining way of explaining ideas and concepts I have no idea of where and who to ask for advice. Thank you
Wow content is amazing but the design of the video is exceptional and incredibly creative!!
Thank you my friend! 🙏
Great explanation on the dynamics involved here. So now I know why old Datsuns had a problem rear end. Since the last time here I made myself a engine stand for my motor bike. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
Thank you, Chris! I’m glad you got some value out of it. Congrats on a job well done!
Your content is both entertaining and very easy for a visual learner like me. Thanks very much!
My pleasure my friend! Thank you! 🙏
I found this video very educational and is motivating me to fix the problem I created. In lowering my 2005 Chevy Silverado LT (I did this so my wife could navigate into the truck) it now has a 25-35 mph vibration. Your video explains well my problem.
Thank you, Tony! Lemme know what you discover. I’m confident we can figure it out if this video doesn’t help enough. Best of luck!
Ask away, Johnny! And thank you for the kind words. 🙏
Glad to have you back. Great video as always.
Glad to be back, Coty! Thank you! 🙏
One of the best UA-cam productions I have ever seen. Great job with everything.
That means more to me than you know my friend. Thank you. 🙏
Good to have you back! Garage fab is one of my favorites!
Thank you, Jim! It’s very good to be back.
Happy to be of service!
Lemme know what you end up doing and if it helps. 🙌
This is the best video I have seen on this subject. Your illustrations and props are top notch. I have had some factory training from a large company in the business of drivetrain and it wasn’t this good. The sprockets on the driveshaft showing the different speeds of each section of shaft blew me away. I am a new subscriber!
Thank you, Thomas! That means a lot to me. Maybe this video will make it into one of those classrooms. I’d giggle with joy.
Have a great weekend!
Finally took the time to watch. Lots of great info. In my mind I can see all of these things happening. The visualization just solidifies it.
I’m happy to meet a fellow mental visualizer. That ‘skill’ often gets me in trouble when I try to explain something on the spot.
Excellent video! Great to see you back, you're an important voice in the UA-cam community.
Thank you, Clint! Good to see you again and it’s great to be back.
I’m not so sure about that. I’m just a really good B.S.er 😂
