    I like to do the first oil change at 500 miles and the second at 1500 miles. This has worked out very well for me on many cars. I have strong oppinons about FCA's oil recommendation.

    Very very normal to find fine shavings in a first oil change. Engine break in will take a while before the shavings all get flushed and things find their way”groove”

    I assume you’re aware of Racer X and his Demon needing a new motor.

    Warm oil benefits more contamination removal. That looks like bearing material to me, but nothing abnormal for a new engine. I recommend removing the media where you can unfold the pleats for much improved visibility. Looking forward to your track time!

    My 2019 hellcat does it have the air dams for front brake cooling. I do warm the engine oil before changing. It drains faster and allows you to drain more of the contaminants out of the engine because it stirs everything up in the oil.

    Great content. Always looking forward to the next upload. I was looking for a solution to that ugly pedal and did the same as you and it looks way much better. Thanks for sharing for those us to be able to do the same.

    I always change oil with it at least warm, but hot if if I can, and I let it drain for at least 15 minutes or longer if I have the time. Also, there is a matching bright, "dead pedal" piece to complete the look under the dash with the pedals

    I am glad to see that I am not that weird. I always do an oil change on a new car at a 1000 miles. I make sure the oil is up to temp.

    I know there's 2 schools of thought in oil changes. I graduated from the cold oil change school. It's all in the oil pan.
    Secondly, paralleling GoManGo, if the 170 engine blows up, you can always upgrade to the 426 Hellephant. 😃

    Once the oil is draining in the pan I take the fill cap off the engine, if you do it before hand it can make a mess! The reason I say that is because I don't remember the oil filter having that much oil come out. My19 Redeye has the vents as well.

    Pretty sure the air ducts are specific to the current Demon. I sold my 20 Redeye from being to scared of theft but just bought a 2021 Redeye WB with 1,100 miles after delivery. Gomango, rear seat delete, blacktop package. Never seen a mango color in person until I bought one but it sure looks good. The fuel pump needs replaced (4 months left on warranty) but hopefully Ill get it back before next weekend so I can test it at dragstrip.

      @mjktrash Місяць тому

      @SpeedysGarage I have in the past, frankly I'm not impressed with the filter itself, there isn't much filter media, I think you'll be more impressed with the SRT filter, at least in the past they were made by WIX and were more impressive in construction. As for metals, I wouldn't worry about it until your next change at 1500, before you go to the track (my opinion anyway).

    I always drop the oil @ 500 on new cars/builds, then usually 1500 and 3k after that. im not a fan of pennzoil, i run mobil 1. thought i saw a video of you using mobil 1 as well on gomango, perhaps you changed because this is manufacturer recommended? just curious. good content as usual especially with my demon on its way!

    Rotella T6 5w40 in mine. Far superior oil in every way. Pennzoil SRT oil doesn't meet 40 grade specs at 100c. It's actually in spec for a 30 grade when hot. The additive package is inferior as well and has minimal zinc and phosphrous as well as low calcium.

    From one former Marine to another, love the channel brother. Congrats on the Demon 170, well earned & deserved!
    I have a '19 REWB and I do my oil changes the same way you did in this video (including using the 041 SRT filter). I did my 1st "break in oil change" at around 500 miles, another at 1000 miles, and finally at 1500 miles. Must be an OCD Marine thing...LOL
    FWIW, there's a great Oil Filter comparison video that Steve White Autoparts did on their channel showing the internal differences between the 889 and 041 filters (and others)...definitely worth a watch.

    Good video ! Love the new bright e-brake cover.
    On my 2022 Challenger Hellcat (717 hp version) my first oil change was at 1100 miles, second was at 2200 miles, before I stored it I changed the oil again at 2600 miles , after 5 months in storage I took it out drove for 50 miles and changed the oil at 2650 miles to Amsoil signature series 0-40 and also changed the diff oil to Amsoil 75w-90 and installed the Performance Diff brace as well. Also mounted Mickey Thompson street SS’s as well.
    Did all the Amsoil switch for doing “test and tune” at our local track. Usually gets me around 24 1/4 mile passes for the year.
    Love your videos keep up the great work! Car is badass as well! 😎

    Extra quart for safety on hard launches? Went from 6 to 7 to 8 now maybe. How many others have checked oil level?

    • @pro5.019
      @pro5.019 Місяць тому +1

      Mine was overfilled exactly the same amount, I have made over 20 WOT passes right up to the speed limiter 152.24 mph. I changed the oil and cut the filter at 750 miles, it was near perfect no copper or any flakes of any kind. I filled a big pickle jar and have let the oil sit for over a month, I checked the bottom of the jar for any metal or sediment and nothing. I only ran 1 tank of 93 pump gas which the dealer filled it with and never went more than 1/4 throttle, strictly E85 from that point on. I was concerned about the extra quart over fill from the factory, was it intentional? Dodge said they were blowing up engines and in the end they think they solved it, was the extra quart the answer? The manual says 7 quarts so that's what I put in. I measured the oil that came out of the cooler and it was 300 ml. I would hope that if 8 quarts was required, it would be a well known fact. With 7 quarts the oil level is right at the top of the hash marks when cold, hopefully that extra quart isn't the straw that broke the camels back.

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Місяць тому +3

      I reached out to my contact at SRT to inquire on the amount of oil to put in and provided pics of my over filled dip stick and part number. They confirmed the correct amount is 7 quarts and are now investigating why they were over filled from the factory.

    When you slice it down to reality, you really just have to drive it and wait for something to break. If it breaks, take it in and have the dealer fix it. Until then, regular oil changes and enjoy it. Getting this deep into an oil filter is asking for extra stress you dont need. The filter is doing its job and no matter how well built an engine is, its going to have wear metal in the filter for thousands and thousands of miles.

    warm oil, but let the engine sit for 5-10 minutes to let it all drain to the pan.
