- Yeah, i made a pretty big mistake, but i have a plan, and will turn this mistake into a positive outcome. I bought a Porsche 911 991 by accident. I will explain why in this video.

Its a no from me on the roofbox, I mean it makes no sense there is loads of room in the 911 for a daily driver, plus you have the estate if/when you need it. There is no situation I can ever think of where you would "need" that monstrosity of a roof box when you could take the Audi haha :D

Bin the roof box. Wind noise would drive me mad and it looks awful. Daily drive gets a ✔️
It most likely won’t last long on the car. Just experimental at the minute to see how much it gets used. Cheers 👍
Put a car lift or two in your garage. My garage is too short but I'd put in a lift for car storage in a heart-beat. Roof-box is a huge NO! If you just need a roof-box because you bumped your head too hard, get a Corolla. Why do you need that just because you are using that car for a daily? You have the Audi and the Van in the event you need to move a lot of stuff. This just makes NO SENSE. What makes me think a wife was involved in this decision?
It’s a bit experimental. If I don’t use it within the first few weeks it will be coming off. Had the rails, had the box so gave it a go. Nothing lost and can be removed in minutes. Cheers 👍
Not a fan of the roof box, but it’s your choice and only you know what you need to carry, so rock on!
911 Dakar has a roof rack so why not? But not for me though

Yes. Just changed it back to the original name of the channel when it started. Come full circle.
Roof racks on sports cars always look slightly pretentious I think, definitely suits the shooting break better 👍

Drive the estate or SUV.
The 991 is an amazing car. It’s just attracted those punters that can’t appreciate it. It’s not meant to be a 911 GT car and it’s not meant to be as fun as a Cayman Gt4. If you care about the depreciation it’s not for you. This thing is a gem of a daily.
Love the channel, hate the roof box. Keep the vids coming
I don't mind the roof box idea, but this one has strange shape (a lot of sharp edges). If it was more streamlined, it would look much better. And it would look nice in blue color.
When I bought it a few years ago, it was one of the most streamlined and thinnest roof boxes on the market (thule vector) but since then a few companies have recognised that people are using them for styling so have created thinner & sleeker models. Not sure how much I’ll actually use it in the real world so I’ll just keep hold of this one 👍 cheers.

I’m not going to lie your probably right. Might even be sooner as i’m currently just experimenting to see how often I’ll actually use it. If I’ve not used it for a couple of weeks it will come off. Cheers 👍
Any rattles or vibrations mate ? ive got a 991 turbo s , 2014 ,love the car however there are vibrations and rattles really annoy me, so aim planning to deal with them at some point , ive been told by a porche specialist that its really common on 991 many of the car literally came out the factory rattling !
This is the first 991 that I’ve had with no vibrations. I was amazed but was also cautious when buying because I know that they are bad for it. I was delighted to find this one without vibration. Get them dealt with and it makes the 991 experience so much better. Good luck 👍
It’ll be interesting this. My bet is, as nice as the 991 is, it won’t float your boat like the other two, and it’ll be the first to go again, within a year. As well as being your daily, it’ll be in the ‘sacrificial’ Porsche spot. 😂. I don’t mind the roof box actually.

This is great buy, sometimes finding a 911 with less options is a good buy because others pass it over, so you can get a bit of a bargain. Having a 911 daily driver is a dream, most people just can’t afford to do that. The roof rack is fine, sometimes they look kinda cool. That said, having a roof box on the car full time is dreadfully to me, just take it off sometimes when you don’t need it, don’t be lazy. Also, love your channel, hope I can acquire a 911 someday to use as a somewhat regular driver. Wondering why you never considered getting a V8 Cayenne? My friend has one, a GTS, and it’s a crazy nice car….

Yes the roof box won’t always be on the car, mainly just for times when I know I’ll need to carry a bit of extra stuff. I have the van and estate car also, so the reality probably is that I won’t need the roof box that much. Thanks for watching 👍

I always wonder about the 991S! I have a 987.2S in manu, and I just don’t see how the newer 911ns behave more truthfully as a sports car. Can you make a video comparing the pleasures between the 991 and the 981?
I also wanna get a roofbox for my 991 but only for road trips. 991s are perfect for a daily car and the space available is enough (even as a family for a daily). good for comments though ahahahhasakhf

I like the topbox. first time i saw one was Brad Danger's Safari 996 over on Ideal Media, when he explained what he was going to do to the car i hated the idea but the end result was pretty cool and the topbox surprisingly didn't look out of place. i'd probably get it wrapped to go with the car tho
I daily drive my 991.1 C4S, I chopped in my 2015 Audi C7 RS6 for it and I’m really enjoying it. Me and the wife took the cat and the dog to the vets tonight in it, no problem with space.
That’s what I like to hear. Do you have another car to do other hauling work or just have the one car?
@@alsatch_ Nope, just the Porsche and my wife’s Honda HRV should I need the space for work, we swap cars. I’ve wanted a 911 since I was a kid, ever since I had a poster of the 3.3 Turbo when it first came out. I’ve had a succession of RS cars going back 23 years, and after two C7 RS6s in a row, I decided if I didn’t do a 911 now, I probably never would. The 991 quickly gets under your skin, it’s a delight to drive and I plan on doing some serious miles in it.
Been watching your videos for years and you still haven’t disappoint me yet still loving my 986 Porsche keep up the good work funny mine is the same color and I just hit 95000 miles had it since 55000 miles got it in 2018 and it’s a 2002 s model

Roof box looks good, but why not paint it to match, and get some LED lights on the front.

I had no idea that cruise control was an option. Who wouldn't want cruise??? It is a must here in the US.

I'm probably the only Porsche guy on the planet that cares about mpg's, but I would be interested in learning how your mileage compares with the box on, just the bars on (no box), and the car with no rack on. Please note if it is Imp. gallons or US gallons and I can convert it. On my 997.1, I found that the mpg's fell off about 5% with my Yakima (round bars) rack on.
