I love this video. Very accurate description and dissection of the 991.2S. I had mine tuned at Litchfield to produce close to gt3 hp, but with a different power delivery characteristic. It was a big jump for me from my 996, which i also absolutely loved.

I took delivery of my 991.2 Carrera S back in May 2016. After 8 years I still love the car and it still ticks all the boxes. I have no desire for a newer 911. I really love the torquey engine that makes plenty of power for me. I added all the handling goodies and am glad for that. I plan on keeping the car for a long time.

Great video, Lee - many thanks! I think with each 911 generation, you both lose and gain things you like e.g. 997.2 to 991.1, we got a better interior but we lost the hydraulic steering feel, 991.1 to 991.2, we got more power and torque, but we lost the N/A emotional sound. We just have to pick the Generation that makes the most sense for us! Some of us tried the 992 but went back to the 991 - nothing wrong with that! Some prefer the 992, despite the size and tech - no issue, either! I liked hearing your expert opinion - especially as you’ve covered more than 100,000 miles 😮 in 991 generations, simply awesome! Live long and prosper 🖖🏼

I've driven the 991.2 but chose to buy a 991.1 with the ducktail sports design kit. The 3.8 engine is such a better sounding engine compared to the 3.0 turbo unit that it makes the .1 much more exciting to drive. All in my humble opinion of course.

I switched last year from a 991.1 2S to a 991.2 2S and agree with all your thoughts. Having had 6 other 911s including a 964 and 996 turbo I have to say it’s the best yet. I’ve done 180 on the autobahn and it was a solid as a rock. I love the effortless torque and there’s enough tech (but not too much). My only beef is a lumpy downchange from 2nd to 1st which feels and sounds like driveline shunt. Paragon and OPC say it’s within tolerance, it just feels lacking in the usual Porsche refinement.

Great video! One thing prospective purchasers need to be aware of is the addition of pps filters in the exhaust on all builds from 2018 onwards which severely mutes the soundtrack.
This, plus the questionable design features of the 992 ( not Porsche's fault really, blame the EU's passenger & pedestrian safety regulations) makes this generation peak watercooled
Porsche IMHO, at least as far as looks and sound are concerned. Re the interior, did the massive red reflection on the windscreen not annoy you? Again IMHO it's always best to have
    a black dashboard top.

Had a 991.2 S for a week and did about 2,000 miles in it in the UK and Europe. At first I thought the turbo engine was pretty good, but over time the slight lag and very slightly disconnected and elastic throttle response in general annoyed me more and more. Pity as I prefer the small styling tweaks of the .2 and the steering and manual shift are better. But in the end I couldn't live with the turbo engine. A 991.1S is fast enough and you can now remap the steering and updating the manual shift to .2 spec is very easy, so 991.1 S is where I think the smart 991 momney goes. The engine is so much more exciting.

I’ve driven every generation 911 Turbo and owned 10 911’s over the years. A 89 C4, -90 C4, -90 C2 Cab, -91 Turbo, -94 993 C2, -99 C4 Tip, -02 GT3CS, -10 C2, -18 Carrera T. All except the -99 C4 were manuals. When the 992 came out, I drove a couple of 4Ss and decided that’s it for me. I didn’t like the size of it or the llook of the rear end, the door handles pinched me, the 8 spd PDK gearbox was just too busy always changing gears not to mention the look of the actual shifter knob, the dash screens weren’t readable without leaning over and ultimately the materials in the cabin felt flimsy giving me vibes from the 996.
My perception was the 911 stopped being a sports car and had evolved into a grand tourer and I felt done with the 911s when the 992.1 came out. I started looking at Ferrari and Lamborghini for my kicks, but was so used to Porsche reliability that I couldn’t muster the strength to cope with the Italian exotics. Then came the “German Ferrari” along and I jumped at the possibility when I got an allocation and I must say the GT4RS just eclipses everything any 992 can offer me in terms of sheer fun and enjoyment. It’s just an old school German muscle car. An absolute hot rod hooligan🎉🎉🎉
