    I think the 991.1 is a future classic. I recently got a 991.1 GTS and it is the best sounding and most useable daily driver Porsche I have ever owned! Also, the interior is far and away much nicer than the 997 I used to own.

    The 991 is the perfect balance of performance, design, luxury, history and drivability. You keep the more traditional looking rear slats, with the curviness of the 911 but with a truly luxurious interior, an amazingly fun car to drive and of course the NA engine

    Great video, as a 991.1 owner I have to say you hit the best points and pointed out some of the common flaws, which in this gen are pretty rare.
    One big one to add is the 3.1 PCM that has been known to have hard drive failures, constant cycling restarting or just plain crapping out entirely. $4k CAD to replace it from Porsche.
    Besides this, I’ve been very satisfied with the 991.1, it’s a truly amazing car to own and driving it is exhilarating. Anyone thinking about one should just go ahead and do it!

      @@HernanSpeed Without Porsche Sports Exhaust, the car is very quiet. It won’t make the noise people are probably looking for. I upgraded to the Soul Performance Valved Exhaust. It makes a world of a difference and I’d never go back. Here’s a couple videos I made on my channel:
      ua-cam.com/video/BQbGUCho9-Q/v-deo.htmlsi=E2LnDjQpbLrXcNFe
      Stock vs Soul back to back comparison video. Massive difference!
      ua-cam.com/video/BQbGUCho9-Q/v-deo.htmlsi=A5VsJBKPi_ahLF_h
      Also, how about the first 7 speed manual transmission ever built for the road. It is perfection and the manual transmission cars fetch a higher aftermarket price because they are more rare.
      Moreover, from my experience with PCA, it seems like the door panel warping happens only to the non leather packaged cars. So, for those looking to avoid that problem, find one spec’d with the leather package (dash, doors etc). I never knew about the leather dash method they used for the 991’s that was an amazing fact I learned!
      Keep up the awesome videos.

    Very helpful but I'm still torn! About to pull the trigger on my first 911 and unsure whether to go for a 991.1 or .2! I know the turbos are going to increase the usability but just HOW much more useable is the .2? And don't disrespect CarPlay!🤣There's a £10k is price difference between the 2 GTS models in the UK so is it worth the extra? The non turbo is more 'pure'? It's such a tough choice!

    • @HernanSpeed
      @HernanSpeed  4 місяці тому +1

      Go drive both, the turbos on the .2 are immediately noticeable when you first merge into traffic…big difference 🚀🚀 If it’s a PDK, I’d also seriously look at the .2 because the transmission is always up-shifting to the highest gear to save gas…so the extra low end torque is more noticeable. Plus you can easily up the boost for more powaaaa!💥💥🚀
      I like the sound of the 0.1 with upgraded exhaust and a manual, it’s not fast…but I’m okay with that.

    Great video! I was looking at a used 991.1 4S manual, I literally found none for months. Obviously because anyone who got one just kept it for himself, outstanding value. So I ended up with 4S .2 manual (which also was very challenging to find) and I am happy even if it's the turbo engine, driven almost daily and zero problems (and a lot of fun)! No regrets (just a bit lol).

    • @HernanSpeed

      The 991.2 is a BEAST when you up the boost, the engine is more than capable of handling huge amounts of power….the results are shocking! 💥💥 I think you’ve got a great one, no regrets! 🙌

    My 2017 GTS needed a new engine at 18K miles. Normal non track driver here. Regular maintenance. Porsche did step up and replace it under CPO but, it was stunning to need a new engine at that mileage. Not sure I agree with the longevity comments. Enjoying a 718 spyder now.

    • @HernanSpeed
      @HernanSpeed  8 місяців тому +1

      The 718 Sounder is incredible, especially the SOUND! 🙌🙌
      Many times Porsche will replace an engine if it needs a bit more diagnosing, they prefer to do it at the factory. So you’ll rarely see new Porsche engines being opened up at authorized dealers, they all get shipped back to get inspected by the engineer’s. I understand that it can be worrisome, but this has been standard practice since the 996.

    I owned a 991.1 GTS... Fantastic car, great engine, great performance and styling. I sold the car due to a few reasons... lack of rawness, feels too much like a daily driver. The size compared to the previous svelte 911 cars was enormous, and ultimately, I just couldn't get that driver/machine connection with the car. I immediately bought a 997.2 S after selling the GTS. With that said, these are just my opinions, and ultimately the 991 should not be overlooked either way. Cheers

      Yesss, the 997.2’s are incredible! Great choice! 🙌🙌 The great thing about all 911’s is that with a few mods, they all can get some of that chainsaw rawness back!💥👊

    • @HernanSpeed
      @HernanSpeed  7 місяців тому

      Correct! 💯 It had the 1st versions of the electric steering rack. It’s numb.. But guess what? It’s the same rack that’s found on the GT3 991.1! Those have totally different steering feel! It’s all in the software calibration, and many people are already modifying it to feel closer to the GT3’s! 🙌🙌

    Soon people will discover how susceptible the 9A1 engine is to bore scoring and the .2’s will be more cherished. My 997.2 was on its 3 motor when I sold it at 66,500 miles. Never again.

    • @HernanSpeed
      @HernanSpeed  Місяць тому

      When the car is under warranty, Porsche actually prefers to swap out the engine. It’s actually easier/faster than diagnosing potential issues. A separate team of engineers takes them apart to inspect it. This happened a lot with the M96’s/M97’s, it’s less common now.

  • @MotorDynasty

    991.1 is great, its reliable and quite comfortable because of the longer wheelbase. However, it feels too modern and too airy as in the interior just does not feel 911 enough. For a daily driver its great, but I sold my 991.1 C2S PDK and went back in to a 997. The nostalgia and feel of a 997 trumps the 991. In addition, make sure you have warranty on these 991.1s, the LSD went on mine and there was a coolant leak all covered under warranty. Also, PDK is quite costly to repair if it goes wrong, that kept playing on my mind once Porsche warranty was finished. Manual if you can but PDK if you have warranty. Also I wishe the sunroof would go in to the roof itself rather than overhang over the roof when opened. The 997 does this and keeps the lines.

    • @HernanSpeed
      @HernanSpeed  8 місяців тому +3

      Great points! 🙌🙌 I was going to include some of them in this vid…but it got too long.
      The PDK’s take extreme abuse, but they can be over $18k to replace. Most have been bombproof. I haven’t seen anyone reliably rebuild them, so you must buy directly from Porsche 💵💵 The engine is shared with the 997.2, they have been robust.
      Enjoy your 997! It’s an incredible car, the size adds to it in a way that numbers don’t tell…fits like a glove!

    • @HernanSpeed

      All 911’s are seriously cushy after the 964, you daily them all! 💯 But I live in Miami, and parking spaces are small…and always full. So 997 for me …less of a chance of it getting banged up in tight spaces 😅
      But if I lived in Texas, I’d be leaning towards to 991. Everything is bigger in Texas, even parking spots 🙌👊

    Porsches are grossly over rated. they are not worth the money they ask for. it's the same basic shape over and over again for 3 decades. Some of the cars are so darn ordinary I dont even if the people are praising it even know why they are praising it. Example would be GT4. it's the most ordinary car I have owned or driven. No torque at the lower end. The first and second gears are so tall. it's not even fast. It doesnt have an impressive exhaust. GT3RS is another perfect example. is taht car even worth half a million Hell NO !!!
