I really like the idea that Batman is broken after the death of Robin in this movie. But given the storytelling we've seen so far, I don't think the guys behind this movie were smart enough to plan that out.
It was. robin's suit is clearly shown with graffiti saying "HA HA HA jokes on you BATMAN" meaning Joker did get to him. people like you ruin movies for yourselves.
really so the part where go from pseudo Mythological fantasy with his symbol literally helping to ascend the light, to the demon he's becoming trying to devour him. the fact the cops are shocked by the branding means that wasn't part of his M.O. he was too emotional and reckless. the movie gave plenty of evidence to his brokenness
***** So Batman fought superman for like 10 minutes and had him on the ground and was about to kill him but shit happened and he got killed by doomsday, but batman wouldve won
Yupppp. I’m not really a fan of most MCU films BUT they at least fucking developed majority of their characters on screen and didn’t rush things!!!!!!!
+EroticOnion23 It's Joe's show. Yes, other Joe and Del certainly contribute to the success of The Angry Joe Show in their own ways, but when it comes down to it, it's Joe's show.
*+EroticOnion23* Eh, I still hope he'd just dump Del entirely. He never contributes anything to the conversation and he always looks like he hasn't showered in a week.
Dronarus He's not, at least not in MY OPINION. I've been subbed to Joe for years (way before Del even showed up) so no, I won't leave either. But If YOU can't handle my opinion of Del then feel free to leave yourself.
Also plot hole: why is superman even able to fly with the spear? First Batman takes down Superman with a little bit of kryptonite-dust, then Superman can fly around with a giant stick made of kryptonite...
It's not nitpicking- it's a legitimate question. A huge chunk of the rock literally no less than 3 feet from his face (holding it at arm's length) WHILE flying for at least 5 seconds (to get to Doomsday)... yeah that shit should have killed him already lol
It's not exactly a plot hole. He was ready to die, so he was at his strongest, and was able to endure the Kryptonite for a short period of time. He does so in the comics as well when fighting Metallo.
Zepha21 i think when he breathes the kryptonite smoke it effect is much more powerful atleast it seemes that way when smoke goes inside hims molecular level...
+Ben Smith It's funny how Marvel fans attack DC fans for this film but when people mention all the flaws in the Avengers movies you guys have no idea what to say.
@Ramses II Just thought I'd drop this here. Joe said he wanted to know who came up with all the clever stuff. Those are Bible stories. Stolen from the Bible and the glory not given back to the created of them, of all things.
Am I the only one who, when they showed the Robin costume with "Joke's on YOU, Batman!" spray painted on it, wanted to see *that* movie instead of the one we were watching?
+TopFiveMoments Those are called "yes men", they are just there to stroke Joe's ego. These guys are extremely boring reviewers, I'll take Red Letter Media's content any day over this tripe.
How so? That there are multiple heroes? I assume you don't mean that, it's an Avengers film after all, not an Avenger film. Or do you mean that there was a death and people mourned? Because leading up to that movie, the question was never "will people die" (aside from whether or not Disney would have the balls), it was "how many will die". And naturally when someone dies, people mourn. Sorry for the long comment, I just don't understand. Tony didn't even start the Avengers. Not only was he not the first Marvel film in the series iirc (but the first good one, the first was the hulk movie with a different actor), but he didn't put together the team. He wasn't even _picked_ for the team. They decided against him being in it. They picked the suit, not Tony.
I am not alright with Batman killing in this film what so ever. It's one thing in Burtons twisted alternate universe batman movies but this is supposed to be THE DC cinematic universe. They change the character too much by having him killing left right and center. There is nothing likeable about him. Though there is nothing likeable about Superman either, the miserable fuck.
+Eugen Marian Popescu You're missing the point. He knows Superman isn't really dead. Joe is pissed cause they did his death WAY too early and now in future sequels, there will no longer be any stakes for Superman. We all know he'll be fine in the end. They really can't do his death again.
Your missing Angry Joe's point. It's obvious he isn't dead but he "died in the eyes of the characters. But we as the viewers didn't feel it. There was so many plots in the movie and none of them had a solid climax. Everything just happened one after the next without thorough explaination... Like why is batman so special he's having dreams of the future? How did human DNA complete Doomsday if human DNA should make Cryptonian's weaker. Like in the case of superboy... The movie makes no sense at all
I don't like that batman kills because he leaves all the major villains alive and just kills the goons that makes no sense .... the red hood story is robin is mad batman won't kill joker so he trys to and batman stops him... it messes up some of the best stories of batman with batman killing
also this is after under the red hood, the robin suit said jokes in you, which is a call back to when joker killed jason Todd, one of the reasons he probabaly kills in this film. pretty sure joker is dead at this point. cause in suicide squad batman isnt near as violent yet.
First, DC should've: Made a Flash movie. Made an Aquaman movie. Made a Cyborg movie. Made a Batman movie. Made a Superman movie. Made a Wonder Woman movie. THEN made a Justice League movie.
It's just a pattern of Hollywood rushing their movies. Just look at Fellowship of the Ring; that movie was rushed to hell because they didn't make solo movies for Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Smeagol, Deagol and Tom Bombadil.
Not really they didn’t need to make a cyborg or a batman movie. This movie would’ve been fine if it was great. Why would cyborg need a movie he has never been that type of character, he could’ve easily been incorporated in the film, so could batman. Green lantern, flash, Wonder Woman and aquaman needed a film tho
To me, Lex Luthor was a huge let down. He is like a second rate Joker in this movie, rather than that brilliant mind he is supposed to be, he comes off as stark raving mad, and clearly not in touch with reality at certain times. Jesse Eisenberg overplayed his part and portrayed something else entirely, not worthy a villain to the most powerful super hero. The whole movie was a let down really, but what really crushed it for me was that god awful Lex Luthor portrayal.
Nathaniel R Ah, hmm... I must admit I've not heard of him before (But I did notice his signatur was Alexander Luthor in the movie). That clears up a bit of the stuff, but still not a very likable villain (in the sense you wanna like a villain). He's got no depth to him at all, and his personality wasn't unique at all. But hey, thanks for clearing that up, I appreciate it when people take their time to tell me I'm wrong in a polite way. :)
+Nathaniel R Jessie Eisenburg is not playing Lex's son, he is portraying Lex Luthor. Theres nothing to clear up, it was just Snyders moronic reinterpretation of Lex Luthor.
Superman: WHAT. THE. FUCK. Not DC, but ZACK SNYDER thought it was a good idea to have one of the BIGGEST DC stories of all time be added in the movie to set up the Justice League!?!? Are you kidding me!?! Like you said, they fucked up every single Superman sequel they can possibly do because he already defeated death. Zack basically said that the story of his death is not important, when in the comics it affected everyone. You could have done so much if that was shown in a later movie, but no. You fucked up big time. Wonder Woman & Lois Lane: another what the fuck!? I thought Gal Gadot did awesome for what she was given. But that's exactly why I'm pissed. She was given no screen time and was used as eye candy!!! In the comics, she's the one keeping everybody in line. Which leads me to Lois, because she was wasted potential as well.
I think it would've been really cool if Lois was the reason why WW teamed up with the World's Finest. Like have Lois investigate stuff going on in Greece or somewhere around Themyscira and WW & Lois start investigating Lex. Show more of WW. But they didn't, and it was just a waste of characters. Which leads me to fucking Lex. Now ever since I heard of Jesse being casted as Lex, I've been all for it. I thought he did great in both Now You See Me and The Social Network, because both characters he played were characters that act just like Lex does. But in BvS, he wasn't given any room to shine. He was just some idiot Internet troll who didn't like Superman because nobody else does. That's on nobody other than Zack Snyder, Scott Gimple and David Goyer. And another plot hole you guys forgot to mention; how does he know all of the identities of the rest of the JL!?!? He knew all along!? Last time I checked he had no clue who they were in the comics!!
And that's another thing. Why did Zack Snyder in the build up for this movie make such a big deal about who was being casted as the rest of the JL when their scenes lasted no more than 5 seconds? On IMDB, one of the first people you see for the casting crew was the choice for Cyborg. So why was he only teased!? And last but not least Doomsday. FUCK that bullshit. It all goes back to the build up. Both he and Wonder Woman should not have been shown in any trailers, and it should've been another DC villain in the movie. Like you guys said, how awesome would it have been to see Lex in his suit taking on the World's Finest!?!? Or introduce Amazo, Metallo or Bizarro, all characters that Alex has actually created!?!? And not waste Doomsday's actual origin!?!? Oh that pisses me off!!! You might as well had Michael Bay directing this movie because all I felt Zack cared about was Batman and fighting. He had his moments of awesome I'll give him that, but the bad outweighs the good no matter what
It just shows you that Zack Snyder (and WB for that matter) doesn't give a f**k about Superman and his history. The fact that he loses the fight and he kills him off just to get rid of him and have Batman be the one to bring the Justice League together. People say that after the Ultimate Edition they owe him an apology. I don't think he deserve one since he still ruined one of DC's flagship characters beyond repair. I'd be surprised if we ever get another Superman movie in the DCEU and if they do, they should give it to a director who actually gives a s**t about the character.
+rico Joe knows. In the comics, when he fights Doomsday, title of that comic was The Death of Superman. That's what he's referring to when he says he's died.
+rico He even mentions that they screwed up by doing that in the first movie, referring to how much more of an impact it would have made if they did it later in the series and then brought him back. He knows Superman isn't dead.
+rico ....EVERYONE KNOWS that Superman is not really gone. We are referring to the comic-event known as "The Death of Superman" in which Doomsday "kills" Superman. They are mad because they played one of the biggest cards they had in the second film. Compare than to Marvel's Infinity War which has been building up since the first Captain America movie throughout THREE PHASES of many movies which will conclude in a two parter. THAT is how you do an event like this. They JUST started with this Superman. We do not even care for this Superman yet, so they wasted a huge opportunity.
well the lady next to me started to argue with me whether or not hulk is in the justice league........she was convinced that he was in the justice league.......i lost my faith in humanity today
+Rag Ark nah, Hulk been around too damn long for someone not to know. Doomsday does look like Abomination in the movie verse but that's no different from the comic books. DC and Marvel bounce ideas from one another and use likeness.
+Rag Ark doesnt take a "comic book expert" to know that i mean that kinda seems like common knowledge just like vader being luke's dad everyone knows it
+Joshua Kristoff Have you ever read the Dark Knight series by Frank Miller? Affleck's version of Batman is vanilla compared to Frank Miller's true 'dark' version of Batman
+Feddy if Batman ever killed anyone there would never be a joker, bane, black mask nor a riddler. Joker's role has always been trying to push him past that line and that's what was always interesting about Batman's story.
There is no defending the lazy bullshit that is the "Martha scene." Not only has he always called her "mom" until it becomes convenient to the plot. There are 100 ways to show Superman is still a man without having Batman have a panic attack because their moms have the same name
Dude, Superman was saving his identity, he doesn't want people to know who his loved ones are, and hes about to be killed by Batman who he doesn't trust, that's why he didn't say "save my mom" till louis had to come spill the beans for Batman to understand that Superman is a man not a God, nor omnipotent but a person who has a life in earth with human emotions and a human mom that is named the same as Batman's. in that moment batman was about to be the murderer in the alley, he wasn't gonna let another Martha die while superman begged for her life
Imagine if Marvel handled their movie universe like DC did, it would probably go something like this; Captain America movie, and then it skips straight to fucking Civil War with Thanos at the end just 'cuz and then Captain America gets killed off. Then we get a two part Avengers movie starring Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant Man, Bucky, etc, then a Thor and Iron Man movie between the two parts, and then we go back and start telling the origins stories for Hulk, Ant Man, Bucky, etc.
+S̶u̶b̶t̶l̶e̶ ̶I̶n̶s̶a̶n̶i̶t̶y̶ And don't forget we are introduced to Thor, Iron man, Hulk etc. through Black Widow going through an email of videos with ready made logos of each character
+Jeffery Phillips Agreed. It's kool to change things up to be different from what you expect... But BAD CHANGE sucks ass and this is clearly a bad change.
+Jeffery Phillips This is Frank Miller's Batman who does use guns and kills people (actually kills probably twice as much and he cackles while doing it)
Of course he's not fucking dead, WHO IN THE GODDAMN MIND WOULD KILL OFF A CHARACTER THAT STARTED IT ALL!??! They already announced that they are making supes 2
+Diary of Deaths okay so joe's sad because basically supes death means nothing. nothing. Joe's sad because the death of supes was a big deal and deserves real impact.
+Brandon Sincock In the movie the world now thinks superman died that is the point he is making, it was the death of superman and it should of been done at a much later point.
19:32 This is unbelievably inaccurate about The Killing Joke lmfao😅 In Killing Joke, Joker shoots Barbara, which paralyzes her, then takes a bunch of fucked up pictures of her and what he did. It’s implied that Joker actually rapes Barbara too. He then proceeds to take Jim Gordon hostage in a funhouse, strips Jim naked (literally naked), and makes him look at all of the pictures that Joker took of Barbara. What makes the end of Killing Joke so special, is you can interpret it in 2 different ways. The last couple of pages show Joker telling Batman a joke, to which Batman actually starts laughing manically and puts a hand on Joker’s shoulder. The reader can then interpret that either Batman kills Joker, or Batman took Joker in while not being violent at all. One other thing, the part that the dude on the left is talking about with them sitting down at Arkham Asylum and Batman saying “We can’t keep doing this over and over again.” That literally turned out to not be The Joker. It turned out that Batman was talking to an imposter. I agree with the video so far lol, but the homie on the left got TKJ so wrong. This video is also 5 years old so not much of this matters. 😂
+Umer Hamid you know eventually people will have to stop making the "learning to be superman" excuse. How many movies before we just give up and admit he is just never going to BE superman
Yeap. My fiancé [who is not a comic book fan, but a super hero movie fan], and I, came out of this movie wondering why they would short change us? Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash all have great full length stories that could have been provided prior to this film, but Warner Bros. owns the Flash on TV and are already sees money from that and Wonder Woman [apparently] did not deserve her day in court before this movie. DC and Warner Bros. should be ashamed of themselves, but they aren't...
DC is basically just Batman Superman vs Batman Flash featuring Batman Green Lantern... and Batman Aqu-BATMAN! BATMAN!! BATMAN BATMAN!!! GUYS, BATMAN! LOOK AT BATMAN! WE HAVE BATMAN!!!
At the end, during the funeral scene, the cannon shells are falling in slow motion the same way the Martha Wayne's pearls fell at the start. This shows that the death of Martha Wayne created batman, and now the death of superman creates the justice league.
Do you know what I just thought? I think the scene with Bruce Wayne in metropolis at the beginning should have been lex. Therefor, he could have more of a motivation to try and pit superman against batman.
his motivations are incredibly clear. He states it over and over. Superman makes humans feel powerless. He is a genius and knowledge is power for him but its useless agains these gods. He is a egotistical sociopath and hates that Superman has had his power just given to him. He thinks its unfair for these beings to exist. He realizes that it doesnt matter how smart or rich he becomes, if there are beings like Superman, Womderwoman, Darkseid, then humans are a spec of dust to them.
+Faticus Dolphinius (Fatdolphin) okay. I dont get it. he starts his rant saying it's bad because they killed superman. then said it was bad that the dirt rise showing he's still alive. I think he liked the movie but wants to pander.
+WatchItzBez He didn't want them to use the death of superman arc this early. If he gets more movies there will be no stakes because he already died once.
I legitimately feel like the WB executive watch Angry Joe's video & make a checklist all of his complain and try to undo them because literally, everything Angry Joe said and was upset about WB has made an effort to undo them right down to the Superman sequel
To make you feel better about BvS I want to help clear your concerns up -Lois' side story with the bullet was actually what led to Luthor being arrested -Lex's motivation was the same as his New 52 version (which this is based on) in that in his mind he's the real Superman and Superman is a threat to his Utopian future he wants to enforce -This version of Batman actually has a lower body count than Frank Miller's Batman this was based on (he literally mowes down defenseless homeless people while cackling) -Mercy wasn't killed in the explosion, we see her seat was empty right before the explosion (she escaped) -Superman didn't destroy the ship remains because at the time he had mutual trust with the general (besides its not like he was aware there was anything that ship that could be a threat) -The robot that Lex confronted in the kryptonian ship had no AI (as established in MOS) it was just to attack intruders which lex wasn't. -The kryptonian ship was lenient with its knowledge towards Lex but the same thing happened in Superman 1 & 2 and Returns -Lex created Doomsday obviously to kill Superman. By the end of the film it was revealed he did this for a deal with Darkseid -This Superman is based on new 52 Superman (who is more immature and would get way too heated like a child) in that regard this Superman does it better justice than the comic version he's based on. -The jolly rancher was weird but it IS definitely something Lex would do as a condescending move to whoever he's verbally bending over -Doomsday was going to be a last act throw away villain sooner or later. The entire hype around him is that he's a growling monster stronger than Superman not really a villain you can base an entire movie around. -Lobo movie IS confirmed. Danny Trejo says he's interested in playing him -Brainiac would be a larger threat than Doomsday and upping the ante from DOS story since he's nearly destroyed the entire multiverse in one of his stories.
I just think it should of been the very LAST movie. DC really fucked the pooch. Don't know why they didn't follow marvel doing origin stories first, then justice league (avengers), THEN Bats V Supes (civil war).
If they actually provided a scene explaining why Batman killed I wouldn't have been bothered. A scene where Alfred confronts Bruce and says "What are you doing? How can you justify killing people? You've changed!" and Bruce gets emotional and says something like "They've taken everything from me! Robin, my employees who trusted me, my own parents!" Completely missed opportunities all throughout this fucking movie.
I like the old, grizzled Batman. The murder is okay with me because it shows he has had enough with simply disabling the thugs. IF at any point he kills someone who didn't try to kill him or his loved ones the character is destroyed. The brute force behind this Bats compared to Bale's Batman is amazing, Bale was more agile, quick and stealthy whereas this Bats is exactly like the Dark Knight Returns Batman where he's super strong and could easily convince you he crushed a dudes skull with one punch. I fucking love Batman.
+Tonald Drump Batman killing people is a CARDINAL sin for me. His refusal to kill is one of the defining elements of the character and to just throw that away for no fucking reason is egregious.
Star Wars The Force Awakens:Episode VII In the first year of 80 years of Batman comics. In those early years, he was a knock off of the Shadow, but he became the character we know today overtime. By that logic, Superman should be able juggle entire planets like in the golden age
Zack Snyder is a first rate director when it comes to his aesthetic sensibilities. They guy knows how to make any scene look gorgeous, and every scene in Batman V Superman is dripping with beauty. His shooting of fight choreography is doubly impressive, and can even be considered a high art. With that said, I have to concur with critical consensus that he is sorely lacking, as a director, when it comes to telling a coherent well paced narrative, and he is lacking when it comes to character development. With that said, I have a sneaking suspicion, though I have no way of proving this, that much of the problem with Batman v Superman's story had more to do with Warner Bros meddling, than Zack Snyder's shortcomings as a director. Look at what he was asked to do: 1. Introduce Batman in this universe, and change him from the way we are used to seeing him, and do it all in a brief opening credit synopsis. 2. Show the audience why Bruce Wayne is so enraged at Superman 3. Show both characters fight. 4. Introduce Lex Luthor and his motivations 5. Introduce Wonder Woman in a way that she is relevant to the plot 6. Make the audience aware of the existence of other future Justice League members. 7. Make Lois Lane, with everything else that is going on in this film, relevant to the story. 8. Illustrate how the world has become polarized when dealing with Superman's godlike powers. 9. Have Superman and Batman reconcile, and then have Wonder Woman fight Doomsday along side both of them. 10. Hint at the future plot Justice League by introducing Darkseid. 11. Oh yeah...while we are it, lets kill Superman as a homage to one of the most popular comic book issues in DC history. A single movie can handle maybe two or four of these things well. To ask for all 11, in one movie, is something no director would do unless forced by the studio, so as to hastily lay the ground work for an ensemble movie which should have been built over several standalone films. Zack Snyder is not known for crowding his films with so many elements. His other films, like 300, Man of Steel, and Watchmen were not this overcrowded. This has all the telltale markings of studio meddling, which compelled the director to do too much in one film.
It's confirmed. Zack Snyder wanted to do what James Gunn is doing right now. Build his universe. But WB and all of them were like " Look at Marvel! We need to catch up!" Look what happened there.
Superman's death is supposed to be an emotional thing. You really have to feel for Superman. The guy gave up his life to protect earth. 1. They didn't build up the character of Superman enough to actually have him die. His death had no emotion, no drama. You didn't really care if Superman died or not. Then they cheapened it by having the dust floating.
+Habanosify What people were saying is exactly what happened. They crammed too much into a single movie. They condensed everything down and none of it turned out good. Its like they tried to reduce an essay into a single paragraph. So by the end of it you do not give a shit about any of them.
BVS is a perfect example of how DC's envy towards wanting to be Marvel studios, coupled with a director who clearly values stylistic choices over a coherent narrative and context is a potent combination. Now, before anyone criticizes me, I am a Zack Synder fan. I do like his films, namely Dawn of the Dead, 300 and Watchmen to a degree. Though, the Extended cut of the latter is much better. From the get go, it is very clear that there were scenes cut. The movie's pacing is so horrendous with very little linear progression. This movie could have been salvaged just a bit if certain scenes were shifted around. Synder touts a director's cut that's rated R and this is my problem. Director's cuts to me should be icing on an already delicious cake. While there are exceptions, like Daredevil movie and Kingdom of Heaven, the fact remains that Synder should have been more cognizant of. There are some good things about this film, namely Ben Affleck as Batman(minus the killing thing. I know he's killed before, given in Miller's Dark Knight Returns, there's a scene with him snapping an AK, yeah that's really glaring), Gal Godot as Wonder Woman, more Catwoman, but okay; and the worldbuilding. Was it shoehorned in and detracted from the plot? You bet. It's like TASM 2, Iron Man 2, and a bit of Age of Ultron(still an awesome movie). But the fact remains as a standalone story is sucks. There's no motivation on Superman's side for fighting, and very little to Batman. And while the visuals and fighting was cool(Doomsday battle, sucked. Terrible CGI), without the proper character progression/motivation, it's little more than visual white noise. And then the ending, WTF. It was stupid, contrived and Synder didn't earn it. At all. That was the point where I started hating this movie. And don't get me started on Luthor. A crappy performance. Maybe, the director's cut may fix this. But whether or not anyone enjoyed it, DC is in some massive trouble. Should they do their own thing? Yes. Is it right for us to compare them to Marvel? Yes. They've always been competitors? Why is this any different. But if DC wants to be like Marvel studios and grab general and comic fans, then THEY should be worried. The fact this film has had such a large drop and is struggling to reach a billion is shocking. Overall, I do think Synder isn't fit to direct Justice League. I love him as a director, but TWO polarizing films to start a cinematic universe is terrible. Imagine if Iron Man had this same reaction? There would be no MCU? This is a case where second mover advantage absolutely failed DC/WB. And I hope to dear god they can get their act together.
I liked the idea that superman's death was a wake up call to batman. He realize that giving people a second chance is the right thing to do so he went back to his no killing rule
1. Superman dying and doomsday were definitely far too soon. 2. Batman killing I am a little mixed on, but if they wanted to expand upon it in a good/fun/interesting way, I think it could work really well. 3.The casting and performance of Luthor was done almost all wrong IMO. Jessie just wasn't the right actor to bring synergy with that role. And I think wonderwoman turned out okay, but she still needed more to expand upon. At least in this film, before her stand alone.
Solid 8 or 9/10. I saw it with my Dad who is not a comic book reader and he thought it was best superhero movie he has ever seen. My only big complaint with the film was Superman dying in the 2nd film, however I feel like, for me, that isn't a legitimate complaint given that it's only because I love Supes and his comics and the average movie goer would have no idea why that's a bad thing. Also I feel like we have no idea what Synder is planning. But who knows!
+Spud Murphy The thing about Synder is that he doesn't even know what he is doing. Terrible storytelling, no character development, poor editing and it was rushed. It just had the action right and Batman was great, gotta admit that I feared Affleck after Daredevil, but he did good, as one of the old Batman's in the old comics. With that said, probably a 6.5 at most. IMO, it's a superhero movie, not a Michael Bay movie and even so, Michael Bay did managed to make a decent Transformers movie, well two of them. T1 and T3, with a better story than Synder can manage it seems.
+YT Channel You are kidding me right? Yes the Dark Knight was awesome (but not a Joker or Batman as we see in the comics), Yes Iron Man 1 was fun but not ground breaking and yes CA2 was amazing too. Not much to complain about with that movie. But none of those movies stand a chance against BvS. Doesn't matter if you know the comic book lore or not, BvS was a visual masterpiece and a the best SUPERHERO movie we saw to date. Just the one space scene with Doomsday and Superman was a better portrayal of "aliens" vs superheroes than Avengers did with the whole movie. I honestly can't comprehend why people hate on this movie. Is it perfect? No, not at all. But it's the best superhero movie we've had to date. That's my opinion at least. 9/10
How did people (including JOE who see it twice) miss the dirt on the coffin rising up in the last second of the film. As though a burst of energy was building from within. That's obviously why that was the last shot, for a tease that Superman is still alive before it cuts to black.
+DylanDesign Well yeah.. He does that a lot usually and it's rude and annoying... Even if it is his show. That being said though you kind of have to forgive him this time. He's like the biggest super man fan ever and this movie shit on his dreams. You can understand why he's so pissed off lol. It's pretty funny
+DylanDesign yeah i would like more participation from the other guys now it just joe talking and the other guys being like OH YEAH YOU ARE SO RIGHT MAN
Imagine if in the future they had did a Death of Superman film instead of doing it now. Superman sacrifices himself to defeat Doomsday, and dies, and Batman carries him through the street as the other Justice League members look on in disbelief. It would have been honestly one of the most emotional movie scenes of all time, and they could have actually kept him dead, and the world would remember the last good thing Superman did to save humanity, sacrificing himself for the world. But no, he'll be back and this will be an opportunity missed.
I agree on you on everything. It was done right in the comics and in the Justice League animated series where all the heroes mourn him and carry his coffin
19:40 - I'm pretty sure "The Killing Joke" is the one in which the Joker paralysed Batgirl (which eventually led to Barbara Gordon becoming Oracle) in an attempt to make Commissioner Gordon snap... Can't blame you for possibly getting the story you WERE trying to refer to mixed up with another story's title. Meanwhile, "Death in the Family" is the story in which Jason Todd, the 2nd Robin was killed off in the mainstream comics, back in the 80s. "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller had already postulated a future Batman who had lost Jason in such a way (making him embittered and retired for a time), but it was DITF which made it canon to the main DC universe (until he came back as Red Hood, but that's another story altogether...)
+Brock Carrow Have you seen the Justice League Animated Series by Bruce Timm? They do a pretty good job showing why the JLA would form, and it was Superman and Batman who brought them together.
Man of Steel made a character I before couldnt care less about, in one of my favorite heros, I couldnt care less about Superman from the comics, but the one from MoS, it had soo much built up, so much development of the story, it is one of my favorite hero movies, and I consider myself a fanboy of that superman, so in this movie and while I agree with most of what you guys said, seeing superman made the movie for me, batman was cool, but superman had all that built up from previous movie, so while it was dull I still enjoyed it, I wanted MoS 2 before this, but yeah. That scene where the guy suicided himself with a bomb and killed so many, that look on superman face, told me soo much, such powerlessness.
+Playcool18 Ignore the current books. Go back to the 80's reboot by John Byrne and Marv Wolfman: Man of Steel. That is the Superman they used. And to this day, it is still the best run the book has ever had (Though Superman Unchained, by Scott Snider and Superman: Earth One vol. 1, 2, and 3 by JSM are damn good too).
+Playcool18 Didnt really like him in BvS, he behaves how Batman would, for example the scene where he rips Batmans car. That cruel scary angry tone and at that point with no real reason is not Superman. That s my main problem, otherwise he was great.
havocgr1976 He will behave like that if he is angry enough. We rarely see him act like though, because it's extremely hard to piss him off that much. But it has happened.
+comicbookartist1 Yeah thats why I am saying, at that point he had no reason. His reason was that Batman branded some criminals and they were killed in jail!?!
He's got a damn good point about them ruining all the sequels cause we already seen Superman 'die'. Doomsday is a villain you save for like the last Superman villain in a trilogy.
he already knows that, do people like you pay attention at all or even read comics? the point is that they used the death of superman way to early because superman isn't build enough for that and he is still learning and it's not meaningful or emotional because he wasnt build for the audience and for the film itself. the movie was more about batman trying find and kill superman for something stupid, because if there's a 1% chance he is a bad guy we have to take it and kill him. batman was being so damn stupid than about superman except the final battle with doomsday. you call this a sequel for man of steel when it's more about batman, if this is even a sequel to man of steel.
+Joey Jimenez You said it. Superman is still learning, trying to find his place among fragile mortal beings. With his death and the resurrection that will follow he will get the biggest insight one could hope. He already knows humans are mortal and fragile, but after experiencing death himself he will now have a deeper feel of that mortality thus bringing him closer in touch to his humanity. This will definitly build his character and his place in this world instead of feeling like the "alien". This stuff is taken from Snyder when he explained why he chose that ending
+Josiah Townsend He's dead. Just leave him be. If they can't make a decent Superman movie after all these years, it's probably better off to let him stay dead.
***** Oh, so you don't pay attention?, then you people should start paying attention more. Notice that I said do people like you pay attention at all or even read comics? Cause lots of you are like " superman isn't dead, Joe." like no shit, we saw the coffin move, that's not the point. pay attention more, stop being so stupid. People like you act like you know when you don't know and then act stupid like "you know superman isn't dead?" Like no you don't say, when you are missing the point that he is making that they used that way to early, which I agree. Like how are you going to tell people that read comics and watch everything animated series and movies something they already know when you know that they know that, thats acting stupid like why are telling us or Joe something that he already knows and not just to the person that commented but lots of others that are saying the same thing like if we don't know that he isn't dead when we do know, I don't know if it's just trolling or something. Then the people that act like they know more than you when you read from comics to watching shows and movies. We people that do that already know unless it's little kids or something saying the same thing " you know superman isnt dead, Joe? You didn't see the dirt move?"
Gotta say Ben Affleck did a great job and I would like to see him in a stand alone Batman movie with better writing. The writing in this movie was kinda saucy but it was a good film. Great review Joe and Joe and other guy.
B Yeah right. Zack Snyder is a genius. Such a genius he is completely incapable of learning from his mistakes or accepting his limitations and keeps making the same movie over and over because "it looks cool". Like an eight year old... Maybe you're six, in which case you're excused from thinking Snyder is smart...
I really like the idea that Batman is broken after the death of Robin in this movie. But given the storytelling we've seen so far, I don't think the guys behind this movie were smart enough to plan that out.
yup
They just thought OMG EXPLOSIONZZZ + GUNZZZ + BATMAN = MONAAAYYYYYY
It was. robin's suit is clearly shown with graffiti saying "HA HA HA jokes on you BATMAN" meaning Joker did get to him.
people like you ruin movies for yourselves.
really so the part where go from pseudo Mythological fantasy with his symbol literally helping to ascend the light, to the demon he's becoming trying to devour him. the fact the cops are shocked by the branding means that wasn't part of his M.O. he was too emotional and reckless. the movie gave plenty of evidence to his brokenness

Batman was the best Punisher I've ever seen!
+Elazul2k wow I thought exactly the same thing
You ain't seen the Netflix Punisher yet then - "One batch , two batch , penny and dime.

Amen to that. Netflix punisher is fucking amazing.
other joe's chest is a portal to another dimension lol
lol
It's the S he threw at Non in Superman part II
XD
+Simon T I thought I was the only that noticed, it looks sick
+Simon T thats where they keep the shadow zone
That wasn't no batman. That was Punisher with a cape and a butler.
lol I know right.
Lol
"Master Wayne! What is it?"
"I just don't know Commisioner Alfred...!"
Exactly. A very good portrayal of Punisher, but far from Batman.
Guess you never read Frank Millers Batman....
I actually loved the Superman death, maybe it was too early, but I liked it
Nope
he didnt die dide you see the dirt rise a little bit
+man 99284498140477 spoilersss
Superman dies due to doomsday
+man 99284498140477 Doomsday killed superman, but hes not really dead, hes regenerating.
***** So Batman fought superman for like 10 minutes and had him on the ground and was about to kill him but shit happened and he got killed by doomsday, but batman wouldve won
3:26 - 3:43
*Spoilers*
Well Joe, Marvel listened.
Wait he talking about Superman got nothing to do with Marvel
@@bobbyhawk8797 go watch endgame
Yupppp. I’m not really a fan of most MCU films BUT they at least fucking developed majority of their characters on screen and didn’t rush things!!!!!!!
Did Joe even give other Joe and Del microphones? Are they just decoration??
+EroticOnion23 LOL
+EroticOnion23 It's Joe's show. Yes, other Joe and Del certainly contribute to the success of The Angry Joe Show in their own ways, but when it comes down to it, it's Joe's show.
*+EroticOnion23* Eh, I still hope he'd just dump Del entirely. He never contributes anything to the conversation and he always looks like he hasn't showered in a week.
+Klickker Del is awesome, don't like it? Leave.
Well he is like hovering but come on let's not nitpick
Zepha21 Plus it's a spear... you can throw those y'know?!😂 Doomsday was in lasso lock so that would of worked
Marvel: "On your left...."
Ha
I am weak 😂
For you dc fans that is a refrence to captain america running laps around falcon and marvel is captain america and dc is falcon
+Ben Smith It's funny how Marvel fans attack DC fans for this film but when people mention all the flaws in the Avengers movies you guys have no idea what to say.

omg xd and later he says same shit about ressurecting him wtf hahah
@Ramses II
Just thought I'd drop this here. Joe said he wanted to know who came up with all the clever stuff. Those are Bible stories. Stolen from the Bible and the glory not given back to the created of them, of all things.
So that means DC was like: "I see this as an absolute win!"
How did Lois know the spear would Kill Doomsday? She had no knowledge of what the hell he was.

+Calinks Kryptonite kills Kryptonians. Doomsday was a Kryptonian.
+Dorian Arcia even superman didn't know that in this movie though. no idea.

3:20 joe predicted the end of endgame 3 years before it came out
Yes, yes he did
I suppose, to be fair, this was still well before even Infinity War came out.
@Javin Newell It's not a rant, surprisingly enough. It's just a long question. TL;DR, what the hell is the OP talking about?
Albert Johnston im kinda late. But I agree with you. I have no idea what op is talking about.
I'm perfectly Fine with Batman annihilating people.
I loved it, nothing gayer than Batman constantly letting violent criminals get away with just a few punches.
Angry Joe you keep sayn' "Superman is dead, Superman is dead"...No, Superman is not dead.
exactly
exactly. The movie overall is great
He's talking about how they attempted a 'death' way too early without any significant character development.
The movie makes no sense at all
Is the beard dude there just to agree with everything Angry Joe says?
yes
+Carlos Contreras His Fox News comment was uncalled for.
yes because AJ hired him
+Kannos1600 yeah its pointless ....

+LeO2PaC our mom's have the same name? yup! did we just become best friends? yup! do you wanna go do karate in the garage?
+LeO2PaC Yup, that was really dumb.
I don't like that batman kills because he leaves all the major villains alive and just kills the goons that makes no sense .... the red hood story is robin is mad batman won't kill joker so he trys to and batman stops him... it messes up some of the best stories of batman with batman killing
Michael Cabrera I agree under the red hood movie was good
also this is after under the red hood, the robin suit said jokes in you, which is a call back to when joker killed jason Todd, one of the reasons he probabaly kills in this film. pretty sure joker is dead at this point. cause in suicide squad batman isnt near as violent yet.
It was a dream Batman didn't really shoot them up.
This film was an utter disaster.
yup
+Mgen G.
How I looked before watched this movie -> :D
How I looked after watched this movie -> D:
+Mgen G. Nope.
+Rasiterita it was ass. ur just a butthurt fanboy
+Mgen G. I don't blame you because I never saw the movie and I knew that this movie is going to be a failure.
First, DC should've:
Made a Flash movie.
Green lantern, flash, Wonder Woman and aquaman needed a film tho
with sprinkles of martian manhunter in each perhaps?
@Katie Maddalena. Judging by their version of flash, aquaman and cyborg, they would have fucked that up too.
@@zhengyingli i hope your joking. i really hope your joking
The whole movie was a let down really, but what really crushed it for me was that god awful Lex Luthor portrayal.
agreed.
+Phelix Kelevra the lex luthor in this movie is that lex's son... Alexander.. re: Dark Knight returns.... Batman is an old man..
+Nathaniel R Lex or Alex.. it dosent matter, he was still a pretty bad villain that felt out of place
This whole damn thing needs to stop
Wonder Woman was not used as eye candy. She was used to be a total badass, which is what she should be.
He lives... you guys missed the subtle hint at the very end didnt u
+rico Joe knows. In the comics, when he fights Doomsday, title of that comic was The Death of Superman. That's what he's referring to when he says he's died.
?
+rico "subtle"

Sorry. Not everyone is a comic book expert like you. Wah wah. Why doesn't everyone know everything the things I like?
+Róbert Kiefer Doomsday looked like the Hulk though, the awful that one.
+Rag Ark nah, Hulk been around too damn long for someone not to know.
Doomsday does look like Abomination in the movie verse but that's no different from the comic books. DC and Marvel bounce ideas from one another and use likeness.
+Rag Ark doesnt take a "comic book expert" to know that i mean that kinda seems like common knowledge just like vader being luke's dad everyone knows it
I liked the new batman, but I didn't LOVE the killing aspect.
BATMAN!!!
It pissed me off when I saw him shooting people and just plain murdering them.
+Joshua Kristoff Have you ever read the Dark Knight series by Frank Miller? Affleck's version of Batman is vanilla compared to Frank Miller's true 'dark' version of Batman
+Ben Kehoe The only people he killed were the ones that tried killing him first. That's self defense not Murder.
You can defend the meaning behind it but not the execution
Dude, Superman was saving his identity, he doesn't want people to know who his loved ones are, and hes about to be killed by Batman who he doesn't trust, that's why he didn't say "save my mom" till louis had to come spill the beans for Batman to understand that Superman is a man not a God, nor omnipotent but a person who has a life in earth with human emotions and a human mom that is named the same as Batman's. in that moment batman was about to be the murderer in the alley, he wasn't gonna let another Martha die while superman begged for her life

with Thanos at the end just 'cuz and then Captain America gets killed
off.
Then we get a two part Avengers movie starring Thor, Iron Man,
Hulk, Ant Man, Bucky, etc, then a Thor and Iron Man movie between the
two parts, and then we go back and start telling the origins stories for
Hulk, Ant Man, Bucky, etc.

And it did.
This review was better than the whole movie
The last time a character death surprised me this much, it was a crucifixion.

+Zyker Gaming I found the one that never read a Batman comic!
DC is basically just
Batman
Superman vs Batman
Flash featuring Batman
Green Lantern... and Batman
Aqu-BATMAN!
BATMAN!!
BATMAN BATMAN!!!
GUYS, BATMAN! LOOK AT BATMAN! WE HAVE BATMAN!!!
AND WHY DIDN'T HE JUST THROW THE SPEAR?????????
What if he missed?
why didnt batman stab him then
La meme don’t think Batman would be strong enough to impale Doomsday
@@kohnjfennedy4627 wonder woman then
@@matthewlugo2417 she was the one holding doomsday down
At the end, during the funeral scene, the cannon shells are falling in slow motion the same way the Martha Wayne's pearls fell at the start. This shows that the death of Martha Wayne created batman, and now the death of superman creates the justice league.
Do you know what I just thought? I think the scene with Bruce Wayne in metropolis at the beginning should have been lex. Therefor, he could have more of a motivation to try and pit superman against batman.
simple and effective. W
his motivations are incredibly clear.
I keep falling asleep while trying to read your comment, damn that movie was boring.
i get the feeling that a lot goes over your head Mickey.
+Brandon Dunn no, thoughtful jokes go over my head. the film and plot put me and others to bed. nice try though.
Super man is alive at the end the dirt rises up to symbolize he's alive
12:57
+Faticus Dolphinius (Fatdolphin) okay. I dont get it. he starts his rant saying it's bad because they killed superman. then said it was bad that the dirt rise showing he's still alive. I think he liked the movie but wants to pander.
+WatchItzBez He didn't want them to use the death of superman arc this early. If he gets more movies there will be no stakes because he already died once.
Yes ur right
+WatchItzBez dumbass
I legitimately feel like the WB executive watch Angry Joe's video & make a checklist all of his complain and try to undo them because literally, everything Angry Joe said and was upset about WB has made an effort to undo them right down to the Superman sequel
To make you feel better about BvS I want to help clear your concerns up
-Lois' side story with the bullet was actually what led to Luthor being arrested
-Lex's motivation was the same as his New 52 version (which this is based on) in that in his mind he's the real Superman and Superman is a threat to his Utopian future he wants to enforce
-This version of Batman actually has a lower body count than Frank Miller's Batman this was based on (he literally mowes down defenseless homeless people while cackling)
-Mercy wasn't killed in the explosion, we see her seat was empty right before the explosion (she escaped)
-Superman didn't destroy the ship remains because at the time he had mutual trust with the general (besides its not like he was aware there was anything that ship that could be a threat)
-The robot that Lex confronted in the kryptonian ship had no AI (as established in MOS) it was just to attack intruders which lex wasn't.
-The kryptonian ship was lenient with its knowledge towards Lex but the same thing happened in Superman 1 & 2 and Returns
-Lex created Doomsday obviously to kill Superman. By the end of the film it was revealed he did this for a deal with Darkseid
-This Superman is based on new 52 Superman (who is more immature and would get way too heated like a child) in that regard this Superman does it better justice than the comic version he's based on.
-The jolly rancher was weird but it IS definitely something Lex would do as a condescending move to whoever he's verbally bending over
-Doomsday was going to be a last act throw away villain sooner or later. The entire hype around him is that he's a growling monster stronger than Superman not really a villain you can base an entire movie around.
-Lobo movie IS confirmed. Danny Trejo says he's interested in playing him
-Brainiac would be a larger threat than Doomsday and upping the ante from DOS story since he's nearly destroyed the entire multiverse in one of his stories.
i agree on all that. i think prison is gonna toughen up lex and kingdom come would be cool to show supermans maturity.
this movie should of never happened, This is the movie you make when you have nothing else. You don't start with it.
Lol, ok.
your completely right
+camiji I don't think that they should't have not made it but to take more time. I really don't know.
I just think it should of been the very LAST movie. DC really fucked the pooch. Don't know why they didn't follow marvel doing origin stories first, then justice league (avengers), THEN Bats V Supes (civil war).
+camiji Should have*^. Fucking plebe.
Basically, DC is the Sega to Marvel's Nintendo.
Exactly
Well Sega had published marvel licensed titles before for their video games so I don't think that's a good analogy.
Sega dose what Ninten- don't
That's a brilliant analogy.
+Mystery Guest Nintendo is what Sega genesisn't.
This movie was not all shit! Batman was literally the best thing about this film!
He was, but it wasn't enough to save the movje
I would agree with you if Batman wasn't a damn killer. Being a killer and using guns ruins Batman's character, IMO.
@@y2kplus9 That's not an opinion. That's a FACT.

+Anarky 117 Maybe if Joe would stop talking over them all the time, they would be useful. I actually would love to hear them out, if I could....
OMG!!!!D.P.
if only they adressed it that way I wouldn't have a problem...
+Tonald Drump Batman killing people is a CARDINAL sin for me. His refusal to kill is one of the defining elements of the character and to just throw that away for no fucking reason is egregious.
+Star Wars The Force Awakens:Episode VII Not to mention, Michael Keaton's Batman killed tons and tons of thugs (especially with the Batmobile).
Star Wars The Force Awakens:Episode VII In the first year of 80 years of Batman comics. In those early years, he was a knock off of the Shadow, but he became the character we know today overtime. By that logic, Superman should be able juggle entire planets like in the golden age
I'm here from watching Zack Snyder's Justice LEague cut, going back in time to rewatch all Joe's reviews :)

Joe be cutting Delrith and Other Joe off harder than Warner Bros. did to Superman's life
Zack Snyder is a first rate director when it comes to his aesthetic sensibilities. Look at what he was asked to do:
1. Introduce Batman in this universe, and change him from the way we are used to seeing him, and do it all in a brief opening credit synopsis.
2. Show the audience why Bruce Wayne is so enraged at Superman
3. Show both characters fight.
4. Introduce Lex Luthor and his motivations
5. Introduce Wonder Woman in a way that she is relevant to the plot
+Drake Santiago Honestly though, it was kinda dick for WB to do so much yet still forces him to cut down the runtime.
It's confirmed. Zack Snyder wanted to do what James Gunn is doing right now. Build his universe. But WB and all of them were like " Look at Marvel! We need to catch up!" Look what happened there.
Everybody's getting flustered over these superhero movies, and I'm just sat here waiting for a Dredd sequel.

Pretty damn sure Superman killed that African warlord too when he pushed him through several walls.
PT111111 he did
He didn't. Just a lovetap.
Guess its safe to say that Ben Afflek played the role of Batman *put glasses on* blindly

+TheDesertEagle you tried....B for Effort
19:50 the story in wich Robin ( Jason Todd) dies is death in the family and the story in wich Robin and Batgirl die is an elseworld story.
I liked the idea that superman's death was a wake up call to batman. He realize that giving people a second chance is the right thing to do so he went back to his no killing rule

+The Warmonger Nah man...I've never been a DC fan. Marvel has been my favorite since I was a kid. DC and W&B have a rep fucking up my favorite movies
Who said I was limited to just being a Marvel fanboy? I loved Watchmen and The Dark Knight series.
Just admit that you are mad, guy
+Fanc3yNumb3rs It was better than Avengers AOU, Iron man 2/3, Thor 2, Captain America 1.
mao this nigga actually think I'm this highly dedicated marvel fan i just wanted to stir shit up in a mess of upset DC fan boys
+arsenal2621 I'm pretty sure it's better than Age of Ultron when it comes to crossover.
Really?
I can't see 8 or 9 WAY to rushed and no character development.
Your dad must have never seen Captain America 2, The Dark Knight, or Iron Man 1
+Spud Murphy The thing about Synder is that he doesn't even know what he is doing.

+DylanDesign yeah i would like more participation from the other guys now it just joe talking and the other guys being like OH YEAH YOU ARE SO RIGHT MAN
+DylanDesign Its his show tho :)
I just love how Superman calls his mom by her first name for some reason.
Oh god. You mean Joe liked that part of the movie?
What a fucking idiot.
It's like Joe is speaking the words I've been saying since watching it... Spot on analysis! They f#&ked up Superman :(
19:40 - I'm pretty sure "The Killing Joke" is the one in which the Joker paralysed Batgirl (which eventually led to Barbara Gordon becoming Oracle) in an attempt to make Commissioner Gordon snap... Can't blame you for possibly getting the story you WERE trying to refer to mixed up with another story's title.
Meanwhile, "Death in the Family" is the story in which Jason Todd, the 2nd Robin was killed off in the mainstream comics, back in the 80s. "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller had already postulated a future Batman who had lost Jason in such a way (making him embittered and retired for a time), but it was DITF which made it canon to the main DC universe (until he came back as Red Hood, but that's another story altogether...)
you do understand that if superman is around there is NO REASON for the league to get together so Bruce now has to get them together
+Brock Carrow Not only that, but this will give Darkside the go ahead to attack Earth.
exactly!!
he isn't dead dude 😂😂
+Brock Carrow But bro the Justice League gets together even with Superman around all the time lol
That scene where the guy suicided himself with a bomb and killed so many, that look on superman face, told me soo much, such powerlessness.
yes!
"Brainiac is going to come along..."
Coming from 2024.. 🤣🤣🤣
He's got a damn good point about them ruining all the sequels cause we already seen Superman 'die'. Doomsday is a villain you save for like the last Superman villain in a trilogy.
Superman dead? The gravel on his coffin rises and inspirational epic music plays. He's not dead Joe
he already knows that, do people like you pay attention at all or even read comics? the point is that they used the death of superman way to early because superman isn't build enough for that and he is still learning and it's not meaningful or emotional because he wasnt build for the audience and for the film itself. the movie was more about batman trying find and kill superman for something stupid, because if there's a 1% chance he is a bad guy we have to take it and kill him. batman was being so damn stupid than about superman except the final battle with doomsday. you call this a sequel for man of steel when it's more about batman, if this is even a sequel to man of steel.
+wchan39 that's the thing, I don't think the movies should be getting as much hate as they are getting. Zack Synders superman films are decent.
Little did aj know that instead of making evil superman films theyd be making no superman films
I wish I could sit Zack down and ask him what the fuck were you thinking?!
i think that conversation might just go over your head
Brandon Dunn Shut the fuck up
way over
B Yeah right. Zack Snyder is a genius. Such a genius he is completely incapable of learning from his mistakes or accepting his limitations and keeps making the same movie over and over because "it looks cool". Like an eight year old... Maybe you're six, in which case you're excused from thinking Snyder is smart...
