    What is the history of Holga?
    The origins of Holga began in China in 1981. At the time, photography was skyrocketing in popularity and the 120 film format was most pervasive. Holga was introduced to the Chinese public as an inexpensive medium format camera.
    ** Pulitzer Prize awards are handed to the photographer not the camera!
    So, truth be told, it's the person holding the camera is the artist creating the photo. Next, understand the foundation of this channel and photography itself, "the camera does not make a bad photographer a great photographer", a camera of $42 or $4,200. will not create an award-winning shot.
    As far as post processing your work, well if you want to get the finest image you can after the shutter clicks, you absolutely must do some post work.

    *Photographer Carmine Taverna Defines Street Photography in these words;
    Street photography, a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge. Street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, but they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed.
    ***Why are CCD cameras better?
    CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors are usually more susceptible to noise. Because each photosite on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip tends to be lower, as many of the photons hit the transistors instead of the photosite.

    Must Read
    "Photographic art overlaps with the landscape, portraiture, and other photography types. It is defined by the artist's vision and approach to get distinct photographs. Unlike other forms of photography, fine art photography is about capturing what the artist sees instead of what the camera sees. It is just another tool for artists to produce their art."
    (Quote from N.F. I. The Nashville Film Institute)
    **The CCD was invented in 1969 at Bell Labs by Willard Boyle and George Smith. Since that CCD FILM LIKE SENSOR was sensitive to light it was used as image sensor for video and TV cameras. It could also be used as a memory device or analogue signal delay since it's principally a kind of analogue shift-register circuit.

    One useful thing about a pinhole camera is that it has a aperture of about f/100-f/200. So it shows up everything on the sensor, whether you like it or not. A pinhole camera is really useful for checking out the sensor if you are buying used cameras. Put it on, set for manual, push up the iso ( this doesn't matter) and take a long exposure picture, waving it at a bright window to fill the sensor with light. Any damage will be really obvious if you zoom in to the picture. You could just use a normal lens set for f/22 but then you might be seeing things on the lens, which you don't get with a pinhole.

    Nice video Carmine. Also enjoyed photos of Richmondtown. I have been doing pinhole photography for almost 30 years - both film and digital. I have found that images with digital cameras tend to suffer from more noise/grain than with film. So I would not recommend digital pinhole with very high ISO, which of course means using a tripod with long exposure times. I have not used the Holga but I have used the Thingyfy version which also has a larger opening. However the Holga does give typical pinhole looks. I particularly like the photos with the Sun glare and rays. If there were more clouds that of course with slower exposure times would also give that pinhole effect. Finally focal length can matter and the more typical looks are wider angle tho I also like standard focal lengths. But glad you doing all this. Thanks again

    In art school, we made our own pinhole cameras by using a small copper disc. Then we exposed photo paper directly and developed negative photos! What memories! Thanks for them.

    I like those pinhole images Carmine. I saw another video where a guy using a pinhole camera took a long exposure of some dandelion seed plumes. The camera was at ground level, and close to the subject. Those images were very nice to.

    The problem is 50,000 ASA not the pinhole lens. Why not use a tripod and long exposure with low ASA?

    Have you tried their 60mm plastic lens version? It may be more what you are looking for if you want a Holga look, since I think its the same lens as the film camera but on a Nikon or Canon mount.
