As someone who speakes english and japanese (and another languages), i feel bad for translators, it's almost impossible to be 100% right when translating jp to eng
I know right, this applies to other Asian languages as well it's so hard english lack of words sometimes
It's a necessity to actively TRANSLATE the text, rather than transliterate it. You have to actively take the words and make sense of them, rather than just directly change the language over
I know, right? Context and politeness between those two languages differs so much.
And some things simply don’t translate. There’s no English equivalent of 「よろしくお願いします」「いただきます (食べる前に)」and so on. There’s no English equivalent of honorifics like さん、様、ちゃん. Sometimes you just have to do your best and know what to leave in, what to take out, and when to change the entire context to something more “English.”
