i played gen five before I played gen four - and I was out of the community, so I’d never even heard of Cynthia at this point. Being in the post-game, exploring and running around trying to hatch some eggs for my Pokédex, then running into the strongest trainer I’ve ever seen in my life - I was determined to do anything to beat her. Even for someone who didn’t know who she was, she was so fun
