For the sake of Skyrim's civil war gameplay, the nords clearly had to be highly nerfed, otherwise picking Imperials compared to the Stormcloacks would've been like fighting in hard mode.
Nords having the lucky chance to be born with dragon blood running through their veins makes their race special including the ability to shout like dragons.
Playing skyrim as a nord feels like the best way to play it bc you get more out of your playthrough with all the lore that being said the greatest nord is the one you play through in skyrim
Great video. However you got a few facts about Lyris wrong. She wasn't necessarily sacrificed, and if she was she didn't go to coldharbour she went to what was most likely Sovngarde. V- How are you alive? I watched you sacrifice yourself to empower the Amulet of Kings! "Oh. That. Right. I'm not really sure. I remember white light as the Amulet of Kings took me, and then …. I woke up. I wasn't in Tamriel. I was somewhere else. Somewhere cold. I was home." V- Home? "It felt like home. There was a great longhouse in the fog. It was warm inside, full of people like me. Warriors. I don't know how long I was there, but eventually I woke up one day and I really was home. In Skyrim." V- I don't understand. "Neither do I. Was I in Sovngarde? Maybe. But then I was back here, in Tamriel. I guess there are still a few things that me and my axe need to do. In general, though, I try not to think about it." Also she wasn't involved in the rebuilding of the Abbey of the blades, that was Sai. V- What have you been up to since we defeated Molag Bal? "We defeated Molag Bal and stopped the Planemeld, but the empire I knew was dead and gone. There wasn't anything else I could do for Varen or Cyrodiil, but Skyrim was still there. So, I went home." V- What have you been doing in Skyrim? "Whatever I can. Traveling. Dealing with problems as I encounter them. My axe has been busy, that's for sure! Mostly, I've been helping Jorunn the Skald-King. Looking into bad situations. Like this one with the Icereach Coven."
I'm so glad you spoke about ulfric. All of my friends think he's a bumbling idiot when in reality he is a grieving man who has been pushed into the mindset of upholding honored contracts. I feel the only mistake he truly made was killing the high king, and if anything tullius' unwillingness to hear out ulfric despite feeling that the war with the thalmor is about to restart is a much larger folly. This war is a result of the empire refusing to uphold its own contracts in favor of sating the oppression set on by their enemies. To subjugate skyrim instead of negotiating with them is doing nothing except showing that the empire is selling out their own people for a momentary peace.
The man almost completely lost the war in the first 6 months to an ambush by a general who didn't even know what Sovengarde was let alone the terrain. Him being on that list is a fucking joke
I would argue that his biggest mistake was the Markarth incident. The Empire was happy to only pay lip-service to the white-gold concordat, and not bother to enforce the ban of Talos worship. But no, Ulfric had to be a massive dick about it, and get the Thalmor to notice that the Empire wasn't enforcing their ban. Honestly, I always side with the empire BECAUSE I support Talos, and despite Ulfric's claims, he has done more to damage the worship of Talos in the empire than any nord in Skyrim. I think that's why people call him a massive idiot, tbh. He blames the empire for a problem that he himself caused.
I will say this, ulfric is a very strong warrior and more or less tries to be honorable. That being said he repeatedly makes mistakes and gets manipulated by others into doing the exact opposite of what his goals are. On top of that he has a bit of an ego that has led him to make it so only he could be the leader skyrim needs right now which is something that many who believe in the same cause as him see and simply cant follow because he goes about things wrong. He is one of the best nerds in skyrim at the time of the game but in history his being in this list is..... honestly just strange, even if you take everything he has done as positive he still doesnt fit in with the legends the nords hold, maybe an honorable mention but that's about it
Because someone ulfric did. He's a fine warrior, but unless the unlikely happens and the stormcloaks win the war, he won't have any great feat to his name, except perhaps winning from some poor bloke with the title of king by using shouts.
Since she magically reappears later in this year's Chapter Greymoor, that's a baseless claim to begin with. So far we've seen Sai, Lyris and Abnur Tharn alive and well - but not Varen, the Prophet. Guess who the canon sacrifice was.
He no doubt is, since according to what I've heard and seen of ESO (the game, not the UA-camr), Varen's the ONLY character that DOESN'T come back in a DLC.
Giving the choice was pretty dumb on the devs part to begin with. I mean who do you pick? -A giant of a Nord warrior who's power and fame are known all through Tamriel? -A Redguard who is likely one of, if not the most skilled warrior in his age. - An Imperial battlemage that has great magical knowledge, and the Tharn name to wield great pollitical influence. Or the obvious choice, an Ex-Emperor that lost everything, and has become unable to don the mantle of Emperor ever again, along with being unfit for combat as well, doomed to live a hollow and quiet life, who is practically begging you to pick him as the sacrefice as the other 3 can actually mean something for the future of Tamriel.
jefthereaper it’s been years since I’ve played that quest line, do you get like specific rewards for sacrificing different people? Because if not it’s just instinct to sacrifice Varen.
@@humanoidez7796 hence why you kinda can’t say that the Dragonborn is in the list of best Nords. I always play Bosmer so in my eyes the greatest Bosmer is the Dragonborn.
Hjalti Earlybeard is the most Nordic name I've ever heard. How is he saved for another race? Hjalti aside, I agree with this list. Could make an argument for any of them to be higher or lower. Except Ysgramor. The dude only had an army of 500 and conquered the entire of Skyrim. Pretty crazy for just 500 people to do
I never did buy that. How did 500 warriors of men, albeit skilled, wipe out a race of ELVES??? Masters of the land, bow, spear, and blade, even magic? I just think there is more to the night of tears than is being told. I think the betrayer in this case, was YSGRAMOR! Killing his own people for whatever reason, blaming it on the elves and then using it as an excuse to conquer the northland. I just don’t think the elves were so tactically inept as to massacre a settlement and not expect retaliation. Even if they were careful, there is just no way. Now if ysgramor killed his own people and then wrote the history to say it was all the elves fault, that’s the only story we’d have and thus the only story we’d believe making ysgramor the champion of man. It goes even deeper than that too because if ysgramor was an avatar of shor aka lorkhan aka the divine BETRAYER, OF COURSE HED DO THIS!!!
There’s different races in all the provinces though not only bretons can live there hjalti sword you find for the ghost in Skyrim is an ancient nord sword and the ghost that mentions training with him at alcaire is wearing a full set of ancient nord armor is nord stature and has a nord looking face
I've got a theory that may be unrelated to this video. Akotosh looked into the future and saw the dragonborn stopping alduin from eating the world to start a new world. So he made the world just go south from obivion. Magic falling out if favor. Possibly making Mercer Frey take the key to make the thieves guild loose its luck. Make Astrid the leader. But the dragonborn fixes them. They are defying akatosh. Another theory I had is Martin mantled the role of akatosh. Just a thought. But its a interesting onem
I have been for this work of art. As one born in Atmora, but reigned in Skyrim, I love my Nordic offspring. Though many mentions, I still wonder if I, High King Ysmir Wulfharth, will have my own video. If you do this, and help my people, I will name you Thane of Windhelm , a high honor.
As always, amazing, love all your vids (even when I don't agree with something). This is one of those times lol. Ulfric over Miraak? You're crazy my dude.
I think we can potentially add another Nord Hero to the list. Lars Battle-born. His constant bullying at the hands of Braith led all the other girls in Whiterun to laugh at him and reject him causing a huge well of incel rage to build up inside him which he finally releases by single handedly wiping out the Thalmor and defeating the Aldmeri Dominion.
Just the nords really. The imperial's who were once the needes successfully rebelled against the ayleids and the red guards came from yokuda and took hammerfell for themselves in the first era
You're gonna trigger some people putting Ulfric above these other names! I'd say he's an honourable mention I've been binging your videos lately, jumping back into Skyrim after a 5 year break!
The greatest Nord of all time was the slayer of Alduin, true son and liberator of Skyrim, who later fought off the full-scale Thalmor invasion of Skyrim and lead the allied forces of Nords, Alik'r and Argonians to conquer the Summerset Isles and the imperial heartlands.

@@Jonas_æ That would be really neat, but it doesn't sound like something that will happen. Anyway, I hope Bethesda will do something. I`m a sucker for development stories like Erik's.
Wow, it's a nice surprise when Ulfric takes a spot on a list of the greatest Nords, instead of being instantly disdained and called a nazi. He's a complicated character and I really appreciate you guys took his various achievements as well as demerits into account.
Well said, and I agree.
So many blind Ulfric haters out there, it's weird
I mean, Ysgrammor is literally a successful Hitler
@@personb9034 It’s pretty easy to hate him. He is headstrong and confident even though he is explicitly being manipulated by the Thalmor, and any sane person in his position could see the damage he is doing to his homeland, and the great service he is doing to the dominion.
@Berserking Bishop If you read the dossier in the Thalmor embassy you will see that they’re actively funding the stormcloaks, shipping them weapons and armour. That’s also what they’re talking about with the human in Elenwen’s solar. So I’m not sure how you’re getting that his victory is to be avoided at all costs, a fractured empire is much more beneficial for the Thalmor and if they really didn’t want ulfric to win then they wouldn’t have started it in the first place. Yes it would be better for there to be no winner and for the civil war to carry on, but the imperials winning would be worse for them. Ofc they want a fractured empire.
7:25 I guess you could call him a Mer-derer
I wanna boo that but...it's just too fitting

I’ve been a Christian for 5 years now but I swear I know way more Elder Scrolls lore than anything in the Bible
No offense but it's probably because Elder Scrolls lore is more interesting lol
@@TheCrypto34 You know that TES lore takes a lot of inspiration from christianity right? For example, Molag Bal is basically Satan and the statues of Mara are a carbon copy of the statues we have of the virgin Mary.
how are you a christian for only 5 yrs? I was born christian and now Im just... an agnostic gamer.
.....I became agnostic maybe 15 yrs ago
good, lol! christianity has more bugs than the edition 1 release of Skyrim
Now wait a flipping second, where are my handsewn tongue robes in Skyrim?!
Like most descriptions offered in the Nordic legends of Skyrim, that's probably just an embellishment...
Oh wait. It isn't. Cool!
The greatest Nord of all time is the little girl who felled the Snow King.
The who?
The Snow Prince rode in shining steel, Rending flesh of Nord with zeal.
His Falmer slay the Northern host,
Their frosted hearts fell young and old.
Until his spear met a fair maiden,
Her sword did fall in snow blood laden.
When Finna saw her mother deadened,
She charged the field with features leadened.
Only 12 she took up her mother's sword,
Crying she tossed it at the Elven Lord.
His icy heart now pierced with steel,
He fell dead with his armys zeal.
So it was that the fury of a single child,
Slew all hope of Falmers guile.

its Sinding, he killed an immortal creature called "Child"
As a Norwegian, I can’t help but have a Nord main. It’s definitely a plus that their lore is so fascinating!
Thanks so much for yet another awesome video!
Harkon could have been mentioned as apparently he once had a mighty kingdom in Skyrim and was able to achieve immortality. Not to mention how ambitious he was for trying to block out the sky.
By Shor you guys took your sweet time to speak of Tamriel's mightiest race. Great work guys!
Aye! Mightiest indeed!
Lol mightiest 🤣😂
They have being invaded by the covenant in the second war and have to abandon they entire island.
They have to be conquered by the empire to be able to unite all of tamriel, even though the empire could not "conquer" Hammerfell without the help of the forebears and conquer summerset without the help of the numidium.
And now more recently, they just lost the great war to the dominion and and Thalmor agents are doing whatever they wish within their province while they are killing themselves in a stupid civil war just cooling the numbers for the dominion lol
Yeah, mightiest race 🤦🏽♂️🤣😂

These videos are by far the best Elder Scrolls videos on this platform. The effort, the visuals, the voiceover. Superb.
Will you three be doing anymore "What if's" soon? They were really interesting and I'd love to see more of them
Agreed.
Honestly a new fudge muppet video is what I needed today ❤️ love you guys, please keep making these videos. I can’t express how much I appreciate the lore of the Elder Scrolls universe, and y’all for giving me hundreds of videos to watch.
I believe canonically a nord is the best fit for the main character of Skyrim.
I was home."
V- Home?
"It felt like home. There was a great longhouse in the fog. It was warm inside, full of people like me. Warriors.
I don't know how long I was there, but eventually I woke up one day and I really was home. In Skyrim."
V- I don't understand.
"Neither do I. Was I in Sovngarde? Maybe. But then I was back here, in Tamriel. I guess there are still a few things that me and my axe need to do.
In general, though, I try not to think about it."
Also she wasn't involved in the rebuilding of the Abbey of the blades, that was Sai.
V- What have you been up to since we defeated Molag Bal?
"We defeated Molag Bal and stopped the Planemeld, but the empire I knew was dead and gone. There wasn't anything else I could do for Varen or Cyrodiil, but Skyrim was still there.
So, I went home."
V- What have you been doing in Skyrim?
He is one of the best nerds in skyrim at the time of the game but in history his being in this list is..... honestly just strange, even if you take everything he has done as positive he still doesnt fit in with the legends the nords hold, maybe an honorable mention but that's about it
Why was Ahizidal not on this list? Ysgramor would have probably lost without him
Too many epic nords just too many if they could fit half of the race here they would
Because someone ulfric did. He's a fine warrior, but unless the unlikely happens and the stormcloaks win the war, he won't have any great feat to his name, except perhaps winning from some poor bloke with the title of king by using shouts.
Well its a list of the greatest not strongest and while in nord culture they are very closely related they are still 2 different things
Doubt that it was just enchanted weapons they decimated the snow elves with 500 warriors would have helped though
last time I was this early Ysgrammor was still in Atmora
Lyris as a sacrifice was canon? I though the prophet was the canon sacrifice.
Since she magically reappears later in this year's Chapter Greymoor, that's a baseless claim to begin with. So far we've seen Sai, Lyris and Abnur Tharn alive and well - but not Varen, the Prophet. Guess who the canon sacrifice was.
I think it’s meant to be the prophet since he appears as a weird ghost too at the end of the wrothgar quest line
Because if not it’s just instinct to sacrifice Varen.

you forgot about the dragonborn. Also I love this series and your channel please keep making more videos like this
Yes I know that the dragonborn can be any race
Hjalti was implied to be either Breton or is of a breton-nordic ancestry due to his link to Alcaire, which was an Direnni island state.
There’s different races in all the provinces though not only bretons can live there hjalti sword you find for the ghost in Skyrim is an ancient nord sword and the ghost that mentions training with him at alcaire is wearing a full set of ancient nord armor is nord stature and has a nord looking face
Hjalti sounds very nordic/viking ish add the title early-beard only nords have these titles by their names it’s Viking shit
So many hard choices, so I will stick to my protagonist Nord Dragonborn from Elder Scrolls 5.
Can't wait for the greatest Dunmer of all time :)
Great video as always, keep up the good work
I mean that’s a easy Answer it’s The Neverine or Nerevar himself
I've got a theory that may be unrelated to this video. Akotosh looked into the future and saw the dragonborn stopping alduin from eating the world to start a new world. So he made the world just go south from obivion. Magic falling out if favor. Possibly making Mercer Frey take the key to make the thieves guild loose its luck. Make Astrid the leader. But the dragonborn fixes them. They are defying akatosh. Another theory I had is Martin mantled the role of akatosh. Just a thought. But its a interesting onem
Man drew I am sitting in my car listening to this, and your voice was putting to sleep. People probably thought I was on drugs
immediately liked the video before watching cuz it has the greatest nord heros so ofc its gonna be epic especially with the narration

I wonder what Thor would think of Sovngarde and the Nords
And what would the Nords think of Thor and Valhalla

You know your a badass when A GOD HIMSELF would personally revive you just to lead an army once more.
You guys just keep putting out top tier content

The greatest Nord of all time is Ysgramor. If it weren't for him, most races of men probably wouldn't be living on Tamriel now.
Just the nords really. The imperial's who were once the needes successfully rebelled against the ayleids and the red guards came from yokuda and took hammerfell for themselves in the first era
You're gonna trigger some people putting Ulfric above these other names! I'd say he's an honourable mention
