Being Indian, I share same feelings about Indian Museum. You can visit Birla Planetarium, which is the biggest planeterum in asia. It is near to Victoria Memorial. It shows a 30 min show about space/planets. It gives really amazing experience with dome shaped screen above your head. It feels they are happening just before your eyes. So, if you happen to visit Kolkata again, consider visiting this :). But make sure to check the schedules though, because only two time slots are there for English Show.

Those taxis are iconic of Kolkata. TBH those vehicles aren't even made anymore. They stopped producing them couple of decaded ago. You can only buy them from a previous owner. But people are still using them. So you are looking into the past when you see them.

I don't get what you said about the Indian Museum. There are huge collections of ancient budhhist relics, coins upto the early modern era, Indian handicrafts, Various furnitures, utensils and dresses used in old times, a gallery of historical paintings and even a gallery of traditional Indian masks! The place is like a treasure trove especially if you are a history buff!

Park Street used to be posh in the British rule and upscale in the 60's and 70's. But now, it has a few hotels and restaurant, being centrally located, but most of the prestigious offices moved away to Salt Lake and New Town and what remained are numerous small businesses and lots of street vendors. The area has a lot of history though and attract lots of tourists and food lovers!
