Thank you guys for visiting Kolkata, especially during Durga puja...For every Bengali, it is a time for happiness, reuniting with family and as a whole enjoying some good time. This time around a lot of people stayed slightly away from the festivities due to some recent horrific events and joined the protests against that. Even then, event like Durga puja brings in a lot of people, even from other states- thus the massive crowd. As much as pandal hopping and enjoying that experience goes, the other beautiful thing in my mind is the way Bengalis treat Durga puja as a whole. In most cases, especially Hindu festivals, you would see complete surrender and devotion to Gods and Goddesses. However, for Bengalis and Durga puja, it's more like welcoming your daughter to your home and loving and caring for her, taking strength from her. This feels more surreal when you experience "Baran", a ritual that mature women do to bid goodbye to the Goddess by feeding the goddess sweets and the like. Any way, great video, hope you enjoy your rest of the trip! Stay well.
What a lovely comment and explanation. Really appreciate that. We got to witness the ritual you mention (I think) in the village, which will be our next video. But I hadn’t hear d it explained that way and that makes me appreciate it even more.

These pandals looks 1000x more beautiful at night with all the lightings. But the crowd is crazy and it also becomes very dangerous as you can get suffocated and injure in all the pushing and squeezing. This festival is one of it kind. The artwork and creativity in best in the world.

Love from India! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the vibrant energy of Kolkata's Durga Puja. Despite the bustling crowds and noise, it's wonderful to know that the spirit and festivities resonated with you.
It was fascinating to watch our beloved Durga Pujo through a foreigner's eyes! Enjoyed the video a lot! ❤ For Pete's wondering at 14:21 thought I will share my own experience. I used to live in such a neighborhood. I am talking about 2000s, I was in school that time and there were a lot of restrictions regarding how long I could stay out, how far I could go, also I needed permission for going out etc. However during Durga Pujo I was allowed to stay out as late as 1am, no question asked. So I think it also symbolised as freedom to the little me. I had neighbourhood friends who I could only meet those 5days, and together we would go for pandal hopping to the nearby pandals, but for most part we stay in front of pandals. Our neighbourhood pujo was small, meaning there were never too many people. There would be chairs and stand fans in front of the pandal, and you would see different age groups sitting in different circles and hanging out. We like everyone else used to sit in those chairs and hang out and ate a lot of chips, cold drinks, phuchka & rolls. Next morning we used to wake up in the sound of music coming from the sound box in front of the pandal, and I used to get ready to hangout with those friends again. I used to also go for pandal hopping to the famous or semi famous pandals with my family but we used to try to wrap it up by noon in order to avoid the crowd. Not only me, my other family members used to hang out around pandal with their respective neighbourhood friends as well. While a lot of families enjoyed the neighborhood pujo, a lot of families used to leave for vacation. Things has obviously changed a lot now, however I hope I could give you an idea. P.S.: In order to fight the sweat, next time try buying those chargeable hand held mini fans. They are inexpensive and a life saver in the Kolkata weather.
What a happy family you have. We are really thankful for visiting our city at its most joyous time. Please do visit again. But I would suggest visit next time when your kid is little older. This year puja was less celebrated due to RG Kar incident thats why pandals are not overcrowded. But due to the risk of squeezing in the crowd even as a Calcuttan I did not visit big pandals with my daughter. Loved your video. This puja is very emotional to us. Let the energy of Durga will always be with you and your family 🙏🙏
Nice family, you got and your child is super cute :) Soham of calcutta capsule did a fantastic job of explaining the festival, especially his lines about analogies and metaphors that we HINDUS associate our religion with and celebration of it. All the best TO YOU GUYS. TAKE CARE. LOVE TO YOUR SON.

Thank you for visiting our "City of Joy". Really appreciate your effort to come here and experience the best days of every year. You know its not only a festival to us we are so much attached to this festival emotionally that sometimes we can't handle the "Dashami" (The last day of 10 days) and we ended up by sheding tears. Durga is not just a Deity or goddess to us she is like a girl who comes to visit her own house from the heaven , from her in-laws house. So we cant bear the pain sometimes when she has to return on the last day. She has to return to her in-laws house and we will see her again next year, its very hard for us to wait so long. Anyway please come next year again. In 2025 it will start around last week of September. And Thak you so much for showcasing our heritage, may god bless you.

TBH, that was only about 15-20% of the crowd level in the video. They still had 'space' between peeps... 😅 Just the business around Kolkata is US$ 5 Billion/year. The entire state of West Bengal would be at least 3x. Some premises in my city are air-conditioned, as they have the budget!
stupid guide , saying farmers going hungry is absolutely nonsense , giving wrong information , his explanation about farmers is socialist communist bull shit
It is the biggest art festival in the world. 💖
But don't visit during the last 4 days of the festival. You are not used to crowd.
Durga puja is the first intangible cultural heritage declared by UNESCO.
just a random pop up video which came up.. and oh my I loved it so much.. Soham explained very well cheers to him.. i feel fascinated when i see people from around the world come and enjoy the festivals we have in India.. Your kid is such a cutie and handsome.. stay blessed.. Jai Maa Durga..
So glad you enjoyed it! It was truly special.
It's wonderful that a festival makes an entire state not only a city an art gallery and also make people stay on the road...❤..that's what we wait for this entire year..
Thank you, Steph and Pete, for making our festival shows so memorable! We hope you come back to India and enjoy many more of our festivals.
Im living durga puja through your video this year ( im a bengali in kolkata itself) because my grandfather passed away just during that time so we had to rush to our home ( in a different state) and i could only go pandal hoping for a day , saw a few pandals only. So thank you ❤
Every one should visit kolkata or west bengal during Durga puja atleast one time in their lifetime.. it is one of a kind in the whole world.. biggest display of art in the world.. 😅
Agree!
3:09 did you see that. Im not sure but maybe the waiter noticed the kid loved the potato fries and seeing him eating fromhis moms share the waiter gave him some more.
Gr8 content as usual. Nicely done. Thanks for choosing to fly into Kolkata to witness Durga Puja. Thank you and God bless.
Glad you liked it! It was an incredible experience.
Wonderful family and the boy is soooo cute! Love and best wishes to you all…really enjoyed watching this episode!
Thanks! We're so glad you enjoyed it.
These pandals looks 1000x more beautiful at night with all the lightings. But the crowd is crazy and it also becomes very dangerous as you can get suffocated and injure in all the pushing and squeezing. This festival is one of it kind. The artwork and creativity in best in the world.
I think the way we did it was perfect. A few in daylight, most at dusk, and a couple after sundown with an expert to guide us.
stupid guide , saying farmers going hungry is absolutely nonsense , giving wrong information , his explanation about farmers is socialist communist bull shit
@@StephandPete Yes, night times are extremely hectic, me and my family would book a car in advance and set off at 2am in the night and visit the pandals till 8am in the morning. This was a few years back, the crowds have gotten bigger since then. This year, for the first time, we visited country side bengal during Durga Puja to escape from the crowds lol
Yes it gets very crowded but there have been hardly any history of any such accident. People remains in happy mind and supports each other to keep moving safely. A great thanks to kolkata police and administration, day and night they keep on putting all efforts to manage this huge festival and traffic going smooth.
@@nirupamdas888 😂😂😂 I knew it. Typical Bengali behaviour. So fast to forget the past. How can you praise Kolkata police? The same police you Bengali assholes were protesting against in RG Kar.
I must say, you have a very knowledgeable guide. Many people in India don't know as much about Durga Puja as you guys got to know from him.
Soham was spectacular!
Thanks to soham for being so considerate, for being an amazing guide and an incredible host!
Soham is the best! 🙌
My favorite U Tuber family is back. I have been following most of their videos on their trips around the world. Great to see them in India. Right in time for the festive season.
Thanks for following along!!
Lots of love from an Indian Heart❤
Salute for exploring our cultural vibes...

Really awesome how you literally make it your own enjoyment..
Thanks from Kolkata..
Wow, its next level excitement to see you walking in front of my home our own club puja, at 2:20s , my street and visiting the pandals nearby, hope you enjoyed and had a great time! Now i recall I looked at you and you and your son was roaming around, he ran towards the pandal.
Small world!
Great video presentation. It is great that your kid is also enjoying the food, Durgapuja pandals ,the grand festival atmosphere in India .I think your next generation will also come regularly to enjoy Big Durga puja festivals and other cultural festivals in India like you.
Your son is cute. Also thank you for visiting kolkata and appreciating our culture ❤ love the video.
Your kid is so sweet and with parents like you.. am sure he will be grow up as gentleman.
Namaskar from Kolkata. The city is a veritable storybook, with so much history. What a beautiful family, what a darling little son they have. He obviously has the dna of his fabulous parents… he is like a ray of sunshine and so open to adventure. God bless them. And … Soham is a treasure.
Thank you for gracing the City of Joy with your presence; I had the pleasure of spotting you at one of the pandals.
Come to Odisha..
Puri's Rathyatra
Cuttack's Dussehra( Durga Puja)
What a sweet video! My home town. Missed the festival for many years now. You were very spirited! Soham did a great job, actually! But the star is your boy! He really enjoyed and kept up with the spirit! His excitement over the food is so cute!!
He’s a wonderful guide and I highly, highly encourage anyone visiting Kolkata to join one of his walks.
For Pete's wondering at 14:21 thought I will share my own experience.
I like bengali girls👧 😍 They are very cute & Intelligent in my opinion 😉
My girlfriend is Bengali too I love her truly🌹 💗
What a happy family you have. We are really thankful for visiting our city at its most joyous time. Please do visit again. But I would suggest visit next time when your kid is little older. This year puja was less celebrated due to RG Kar incident thats why pandals are not overcrowded. But due to the risk of squeezing in the crowd even as a Calcuttan I did not visit big pandals with my daughter. Loved your video. This puja is very emotional to us. Let the energy of Durga will always be with you and your family 🙏🙏
Thanks for coming, glad you liked our festival, culture, city, and food. ❤
Fantastic video - Durga puja is about art culture literature and amazing food❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!!
My journey with you guys just started. Your son is so cool .
Great to know you enjoyed the festive atmosphere!
Thank u for visiting the City of Joy...
Btw, what restaurant was the one they had lunch?
Great to see you in India I hope you enjoyed a lot.But you must have visited few more famous pandals of Kolkata. No worries come again next year and enjoy puja
What a video you have made.... Truly good... The way you told the story although it's not the whole story but still and other things it's truly admirable. Thank you for visiting Calcutta.😊😊😊
Thanks so much for watching!
In india every father's dream is to put their children on their soldiers and explore the Durga Puja festival or Pandaal. It's a life long experience 😊😊😊
Welcome at Bishnupur, Bankura.
also at Mayapur, Nabadwip.
Also at Shantiniketan, Bolpur.
Your videos are always unique! Love your videos and your family ❤
So happy to see you guys back to India!! loved the last Mumbai Series please make more videos exploring India, Best Wishes :)
Your kid is definitely coming back to do a solo trip in India when he grows up! 😊
Would make us so proud!
Welcome to my city. The foods of Kolkata especially biriyani and all other foods are also the best in the world. Love watching this video of Kolkata ❤
We have a video just about the food coming soon.

We never stopped uploading. 😉
@@StephandPete yayy, gonna watch the other videos then 💯👍🏻
Rolling Stones famous tongue was inspired by Goddess Kali. It’s great to see a sea of Tongues at their concert. Jai Mata Durga🌺❤️
Man, your kid’s gonna be the next best vlogger. My God, the way he expressed his taste of the food was amazing for his age and even older❤❤ just wow❤
I went back to Kolkata after two decades for the Pujo. I am Bengali. I wasn’t ready for the crowds, but the artwork was simply outrageous! To imagine they do it for the ten days to just dismantle after is just unbelievable
Thanks to the boy who is explaining each and everything flawlessly ❤
Thank you for visiting Kolkata❤ See you soon!
We'll be back as soon as possible!
Great episode. Welcome to our India Mam
That's so cool! I'm from Kolkata and grew up there, but I'm now studying in Iowa. I missed this festival so much. Thanks for sharing this video-I'm getting all the flashback memories from Kolkata! ♥
You guys are amazing. Thank you for loving our culture. Love from Kolkata
Very well done , very few ppl visit to c this marvel . Spectacular video.
So glad you liked it!
The sponsor read while being served thali was a baller move haha. What a cool festival! (crowd and street pani puri anxiety notwithstanding)
Pani puri anxiety!?! Actually, I feel you. I wanted to have it again so bad and couldn’t muster up the courage without Soham’s expertise. Makes the burn of our first trip to India without visiting Mumbai sting extra. Thanks for appreciating the ad read :) Happy coincidence as that was take five. Oh and if you wanna sign up at the link…. 😜😜😜
I see some overwhelming expression in your face and eyes. thank you for visiting us. Just that one thing missing was a Punjabi/Kurta for Pete and a lovely Saree for madam. Thanks for visiting us during Durgapuja. Happy Vijaya Dashami. Regards AD
Happy to know that all of you enjoy the festival. Waiting for next year.
Glad you came and visit durga puja . Next time if you want to visit durga puja and avoid some of the rush I would advice to go to salt lake and newtown area those are more planned and structured and have decent theme based pandals .
Next year come to Chittagong, Bangladesh to witness Durgapuja in Bangladesh, it is also celebrated here in a great colorful way!
Thank you for visiting Kolkata ❤....Hope you people had a great time!
Indians welcome tourists and wonderful humans like you who are open to life. Your son has am amazing spirit. I think he's the highlight of your video after Durga puja. He's must have had a previous lifetime in India 😊
Being in India and experiencing Kolkata DURING DurgaPuja is absolutely one HECK OF A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT!
Great job, you have been blessed by Maa Durga ❤️
Totally bucket list for sure. Even though we had no idea. Feeling very grateful, as always! Kolkata welcomed us with open arms.
I saw a group of foreigners near my home during Durga Puja. And now a month later I get randomly recommended your video and it's you guys. Kinda creepy of the algorithm but surprising nonetheless! I hope you had a fantastic time exploring Durga Puja!
Feels weird to see pandals that I have visited, in your video. Brings up my own memories this year, of the visit.
That’s lovely!
Why didn't you guys go to Santaosh Mitra square to see the SPHERE? It was stunning
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this beautiful video on our Bengali festival, Durga Puja. The city would be thrilled to host you again. Stay blessed. ❤🙏
We are so grateful for the warm welcome!
So happy you visited my city during Pujo, but this year, with the loss of one of our own, it feels bittersweet and somber.
#JusticeforRGKar.
Sohum bro , you are awesome to represent what our culture is all about !!!
I'm very happy for the kid, because he is also happy.
Love from Kolkata ❤.... I am watching your blog from Kolkata😊
all the best .. thanks for the nomad health insurance info ... we might need it during out next visit ... appreciated !! 👍
Please check it out! Even just signing up and estimating your costs helps us out 😉 Appreciate it!!
Love from kolkata... ❤️❤️❤️...
Please come again and again 🙏🙏🙏
Great to see you folks back.
Welcome to Kolkata ❤ God bless you 🙏🙏
Thanks for visiting, lots of love
Pro-tip: if you want to avoid the insane crowds and the sweatiness of it all, I'd recommend pandal-hopping between 4 am and 7 am! It's usually less crowded at this time 😊
Thank u for visiting kolkata in the best festive season in india.
Kudos to you! You braved the Durga Puja crowds. I don't have the gumption to do it any more. And you had phuchkas!! 😊 By now you would have realized that Bengalees are inveterate non-vegetarians and can talk and argue about anything under the sun. Thank you for posting these videos.
Love from india
Thanks for watching!
Glad you managed to wade through the crowd and also managed the heat pretty well. But even if you are not visiting the pandals, the vibe in the city changes a lot during this time. Visit the city during the winters also.
Welcome to city of joy and mini london of india
Soham had literally explained the ultimate truth about hinduism and durga puja.. i am very happy to see you and your family enjoyed the Festival in my city...
❤❤
He’s the best! 🙏
