I think when u r dealing with the history of Bengal, it is best to show Bengal as a whole (including present day Bangladesh and West Bengal)..
Also Assam (Barak valley) and Tripura.

As a Bangladeshi Bangali I do not mind. If heart land of Bengal is forgotten in this video; so what. At least it will make some ultra right wing RSS people happy. Actually, Bangladesh represents the oppressed low caste Hindus and the oppressed low caste Hindus who later on converted to Islam. We tend to forget that the high caste Bangali land lords used to have their palaces in Kolkata and from there they used to rule the poor East Bangalis as the Jamindars or Land Lords. Those oppressed Bangalis supported the Pakistan movement to seek some breathing space and freedom from the powerful Hindu Land Lords of West Bengal. So we decided to be part of East Pakistan. But then we have noticed West Pakistanis want to be our rulers too. So, in 1971 East Bengal or East Pakistan became my beautiful Bangladesh. No doubt India helped us 1971; but we East Bengalis also helped Indian freedom from the British Rule. A lot of Indians tend to forget that. Since Independence Bangladesh is progressing. Now, we should do more business with India and Pakistan. But we Bangladeshis must keep our distance from Indians and Pakistanis at the same time; because they hate and look down on Bangladeshis. This is a fact. Bangladeshi tourism and import dependency with India must be reduced in the near future. We should have stronger border walls with India and grow our own cattle. If you are dealing with history of Bengal then how can you avoid Bangladesh? Many of the great Bengali poets, scientists and social-reformers was born in Undivided Bengal. The national anthem of the two neighbouring countries India and Bangladesh was composed by Biswa Kobi Rabindranath Tagore( Janagana Mana and Amar Sonar Bangla respectively). West Bengal, Bangladesh shows similarities in food,costume and culture .

Not only the Videomaker but also maybe the majority of young Generation in West Bengal think differently than scholars, experienced and comparatively older ppl of West Bengal.
In the comment section, someone introduced Bengali contribution to science and literature, wherein literature part, he mentioned Jibonondho Das, and Michel Madhusudhun Datta's names, but not Kazi Nazrul Islam. He divided Bengali intellectuals by Religion.
And many are blaming, Bangladeshi are not Bengali.

We should strictly reduce any religious extremism at all cost. I do not want my beautiful Bangladesh to become the next Pakistan or Afghanistan. You need to keep on moving, and if you are firm in your culture, basics and foundation, as you have shown in past, during the freedom struggle, then you will again be honoured and worshipped, you don't have to ask for

For education, intellect, virtues and happiness, we can first tell them and keep reminding, and we can do this, keeping in mind that, all these are treasures of "GOD", and is indestructible. We are just the medium. But before we do that, reflection of all above, should be on our faces our living and our behaviour. Christians did this pretty regularly, but could not sustain, as their basis was earning from others. Muslims keep telling, by way of violence and viceful acts. Hindus are not able to do this, as they don't know the responsibilities, acts of their dieties. Once the above powers reflects on our actions and living, people will start following us, and we need not to keep them reminding.

@Arif historians attribute the Bengali calendar to the 7th century Bengali king Shashanka, whose reign covered the Bengali era of 594 CE. History of Bengal is past now, bengalis are repeatedly accused as refugees as major part of Bengal is now Bangladesh, in Barak valley many cases are existing when people of Barak valley are harrassed in the name of NRC. Last year an old lady had to die of heart attack as she is from Birbhum district of West Bengal married to an army man Mr Chakraborty years back. She had three grown up daughters but her husband expired, in her life time she never taught to keep any proof of her birth back in birbhum. At present all her family members died and she had no papers and was harassaed by Assam govt , later she was put in detention camp like Nazi kept Jews in Germany she had a heart attack and died, many other such cases happens all the time in Barak valley, this is the gift we are getting for doing maximum freedom fight.

Great video as always! I'd like to point out 2 things:
1. The part about Alexander and Nanda Empire was highly inaccurate as no available records suggest a war between Nandas and Alexander, as the Greeks were afraid of the millitary power of Nandas. Besides, Nanda Empire was centred at Bihar with it's capital in Patna, thus Bengalis had little to do with the victories of Nanda Empire.
2. An important thing which wasn't mentioned here was the Siddha literature of Bengal which includes medieval poems in older form of Bangla, known as Dohas. Known for their remarkable poetic brilliance, these Dohas include philosophical puzzles encoded with esoteric meanings and are still highly revered by Buddhists in Tibet, although are completely forgotten and ignored in India. These Bengali poets (enlightened masters) had a vast influence in their times and include names like Charyanatha, Matsyendranatha, Luhipada, Tillopada, etc.
Bengal has always been a hotbed of spirituality.

As far as continuity and heritage is concerned, even today South Bihar is traditionally known as *Magadh* region (while Bihar north of Ganga is known as Mithila), with its people speaking Magadhi / Magahi language, establishing that although Magadha Empire conquered most of Eastern India (later most of Indian Subcontinent), *it was ethnically and culturally from Bihar (specifically South Bihar).* _Just like the Maratha or Chola Empire consisted of many states but they were still ethnically from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu respectively._
*Side Note:* Unlike Bengali, Sindhi Gujarati which are traditional and linguistic communities, 'Bihari' is no community or language at all, as the state of Bihar (or UP or MP) wasn't made on linguistic/cultural grounds. *BUT Bihar consists of 4 traditional communities* - Maithili (North), *Magadhi/Magahi (South)* , Bhojpuri (West), Anga/Angik (East, speaking Angika). Each of these speak their own *different* languages. And this is the reason for many confusions/misunderstandings when it comes to the culture and history of Bihar.

As a Bangladeshi Bangali I do not mind. If heart land of Bengal is forgotten in this video; so what. At least it will make some ultra right wing RSS people happy. Actually, Bangladesh represents the oppressed low caste Hindus and the oppressed low caste Hindus who later on converted to Islam. We tend to forget that the high caste Bangali land lords used to have their palaces in Kolkata and from there they used to rule the poor East Bangalis as the Jamindars or Land Lords. Those oppressed Bangalis supported the Pakistan movement to seek some breathing space and freedom from the powerful Hindu Land Lords of West Bengal. So we decided to be part of East Pakistan. But then we have noticed West Pakistanis want to be our rulers too. So, in 1971 East Bengal or East Pakistan became my beautiful Bangladesh. No doubt India helped us 1971; but we East Bengalis also helped Indian freedom from the British Rule. A lot of Indians tend to forget that. Since Independence Bangladesh is progressing. Now, we should do more business with India and Pakistan. But we Bangladeshis must keep our distance from Indians and Pakistanis at the same time; because they hate and look down on Bangladeshis. This is a fact. Bangladeshi tourism and import dependency with India must be reduced in the near future. We should have stronger border walls with India and grow our own cattle. We should strictly reduce any religious extremism at all cost. I do not want my beautiful Bangladesh to become the next Pakistan or Afghanistan.
